I received my first purchase from Van Rijk today. Thank you guys for the great communication and fast shipping to Qatar, a special thanks to Mr. Andrew for all the help.

We thoroughly enjoyed Van Rijk’s and particularly Andrew. He’s very straightforward, transparent, extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with. The store itself is very cool and their inventory is stunning.

Good collection and reasonable prices but Pina is terrible to deal with. Rude and demeaning. I was there with a guy friend and i purchased a Rolex and a necklace, she completely ignored me and pretended like he was buying it for me. Horrible experience.

I was looking for a particular Rolex watch (coca cola) that they had in stock. I was amazed at their wide selection of watches of various manufacturers.
The price was fair which included a 1 tear warranty.

I recently purchase an outstanding emerald and diamond ring for the upcoming 40th anniversary. It was all done by email. I was very surprised with the quick efficient service. Tried to tell me my jewelry was rubbish when in fact it is not. I understand one only gets 20-50% of the value when selling. He picked up a handful of loose diamonds to demonstrate that they are not worth much. See if someone is honest before buying/selling. Pay for a proper appraisal.

I phoned and made an appointment to come into Van Rijk Jewellers earlier this week. I got an appointment the very next afternoon. Unfortunately My schedule caused me to run a few hours late, the lady answering the phone made no big deal over it and found a better time later on that same day for me to come in. I arrived at the store, and 2 buzzing secured doors later I was inside-greeted by a security guard and a friendly woman who seemed to be one of the sales staff (sorry if I'm wrong). We were shown into the office where we met Alec (I brought a friend along) and we both immediately felt at ease. Alec was friendly, funny but most of all respectful and fair. I came to Van Rijk to sell a piece of jewelry from Cartier. I met with a few other jewellers prior to coming here and they all tried to rip me off- offering me less than 1/4 value. Alec didnt play any games. He offered me 3 options. Cash/cheque and 2 offers consisting of a smaller cash value and an a store trade up credit, which with a smaller amount of my own credit I would be able to walk away with a piece of jewelry at a higher price point. This was my choice. I didn’t come looking to make a purchase but.at Van Rijk I felt like I wanted to leave with something (doesn't hurt with their buy back policy: 100% value for trading up). It was bitter sweet for me to be parting with my bracelet but I left with a really pretty pair of earings, an amazing LASTING impression, my past left behind and for a great price.with the help of Alec and the nicest-super helpful lady with the dark hair in the front. I will most definitely be recommending Van Rijk to anyone who asks-and who ever doesn't too, just incase haha. Thank you guys so much!

Very accommodating and honest. I ended up changing my mind about a Speedmaster I bought here and was expecting to take a hit on the valuation when bringing it back. But they were happy to put the full amount of what I paid towards another watch instead-which was more than fair to me. I wholeheartedly recommend this place for both its customer service and its selection of watches.

Vast selection of high valued products. Secure facility. Polite. Knowledgeable. Based upon other reviews, buying from their existing supply may be a good option. I was not there to buy so cannot personally comment on this part of their offering.

The possible selling option (asking them to buy what I had) was not what I had anticipated.

I share my experience with you to help others have a more informed approach.

Alec explained to me that the “product” (the item as it was presented, based upon my selection of pieces) was not what was being valued.

Stones (diamonds, emeralds, topaz, sapphires, etc.) would be removed from the setting (nominal value, if anything) and then the gold melted down to be reused. Product settings, approximately 10-15 years old, were advised to be outdated. Some were bulk shopping and therefore not valued as named items may have been.

The pieces were inspected – including the stones - then everything was gathered up and weighed together by type of metal. The offer received was less than 10% of the current estimated retail value. While I had not expected anything close to retail (even stores cannot always sell for full 'retail'), I was significantly surprised by the percentage offered. I learned a lot about “breakup value” which is something one does not learn when initially buying jewellery.

From a selling perspective – I am left with the understanding that unless heirloom or high-end, the product may be worth only a fraction of what one imagines. I am in no way an expert in this field but am grateful for the lesson.

For now, I will hold onto my pieces and wear them with love and affection as Alec suggested.

Last year, I went in to consolidate several older watches (Rolex, Bvlgari, Versace) and came out with a steel AP Royal Oak. This year, my attempt to upgrade the Royal Oak to a 2-tone version led to a PP Golden Ellipse with integrated bracelet, in 18 kt gold!

Coming out above expectations once is a fluke, but twice is a testament to Van Rijk's commitment to providing clients with the best possible value experience. Purchasing a watch via the internet is a challenge, you are spending a significant sum of money on an item that has to fit and “look right” and on top of this you wonder about the accuracy of the description and whether the watch you are purchasing is genuine. Barbara Van Rijk helped with all of the above and by doing so helped the transaction “feel right”. The watch was well packed and arrived safely (thank you Andrew), it was as described with regards to its condition and proved to be genuine. I was considering dropping one star, but decided this was a little harsh. The reason; the description of the “box and papers” was a little different from what was delivered, however, this was corrected by Andrew once it was brought to his attention. Overall? I would be happy to purchase another watch from Barbara/van Rijk.

The Van Rijk's are sincere and charming people and are evidently very skilled jewellers. Alec has very good taste in music and jewellery, and Andrew knows how to rock a suit. I am not a wealthy person and much appreciated Alec's willingness to indulge me and to see eye to eye. I originally approached Van Rijk to sell some jewellery that I wanted no more of; and he convinced me to keep one piece, and gave me a respectable offer on the other. Although I didn't end up selling to him for reasons beyond his control, (My mother wanted it), I did commission the team to set a diamond into a family heirloom, and the result was better than anticipated. You can trust Alec with your jewelry and jewelry acquisitions because he values trust and respect above all else. The Van Rijks and crew ought to be welcome at your camp-fire.

Great little outfit near my house. Unfortunately a little too close, given my passion for jewellery. I did alot of research on them during the pandemic and within minutes got what I wanted. I personally think they could spread their jewellery a little apart as there was wayyyyy too much selection dripping on one little piece. They need to spread out their jewellery so it's easier to see and enjoy. That's my design advice. Nothing about customer service, just the design of their store and the spread of their jewellery.

I recently contacted Van Rijk Jewellers regarding a Cartier ladies watch. Because I was considering a purchase from the States and without an in-person review, I wrote asking for an accurate description. Barbara was quick to respond and we spoke on the phone as she artfully described the classic timepiece. She offered to send me videos of the watch, which she did promptly. I followed up with a request for photographs and again, Barbara quickly sent images for my review. Finally, again on the phone, she offered some sage advice as I sought to make a decision. No pressure, no sales tactics, no promises and no games; what a delight. Even though I did not make the purchase, it would be hard to overstate the level of expertise and professionalism extended to me by Barbara and Van Rijk Jewellers. She is thorough, fully knowledgeable, engaging and completely without pretense regarding the wonderful selections in her store. My experience was excellent in every way and I would gladly purchase from Van Rijk Jewellers if the opportunity arises again.

Has a great vintage Queen st.pawn shop vibe and the owner reminds me of a flamboyant"Russell Oliver" type showman. And there is this fabulous lady drapped in jewelry that is the spitting image of Mrs Slocombe from "Are You Being Served. " This is not the first place I go to find vintage timepieces however they do get in interesting items on occasion. If you decide on a purchase always independently confirm that the watch has all its original parts, papers, etc.as I am not sure that this is something they screen for. Also know your values before you go in as their prices don't always reflect current reality. Go in, check out this old school shop you won't regret it.

Update to owner: Read carefully, it says it has the "feel" of an old Queen St.pawn shop not that it is a pawn shop. Also, refer to the Nazem Kadri legal case where a family friend accused they were fraudulently over charged, Also that really fun older woman said she wasn't aware of several of the watches' service or parts history. Just a friendly heads up to the owner, for most experienced watch collectors knowing parts history and service is important.

I was interested in buying a Patek Philippe Calatrava from this store but I changed my mind because of the horrible customer experience I’ve had from this establishment. I’m a person of colour and couldn’t help but wonder if the treatment would be different if I were white. The staff was condescending and the owner quietly mocked my hair under his breath but I overheard it. I was wearing a suit so it was obviously not about my clothes. I had to embarrassingly ask to bring back the watch selections because the staff hurriedly removed them and brought them back to their office after I saw one watch. The whole experience with the staff was painful, she was dismissive and discriminating and made me feel the whole time that they wanted me to leave. Definitely far from the ideal experience you get from a store selling high-end timepieces.

Shopping for used luxury watch in Toronto? Then this is the place to go. I was looking for a luxury Swiss Men's watch. I was uncertain who to trust with this purchase. The minute I contacted them, Barbara took care of me, she was so nice and patient, we talked for over 40 minutes and she answered all my questions. Her Husband called me back 45 minutes later just to make sure she had answered all my questions. He took the time to explain how they do business and I felt they were good people. The next day I called them back and we made the deal.both told me the piece I was buying was like a new one, I received it a few minutes ago and I can say they were right all along.
