Our experience here was incredibly positive (while our dog is ill). The staff was exceptionally kind and helpful, ensuring our comfort and addressing our dog’s needs with care. Also, I thought it was such a sweet and thoughtful touch to give our pet his medication in this customized bag. Thank you

I have sought emergency care for both of my cats at VRHVEC on multiple occasions over the past two years and have always had a very positive experience notwithstanding some very stressful circumstances. In particular, my geriatric cat Kino is currently hospitalized at VRHVEC due to a suspected case of pancreatitis and he has been receiving the best care imaginable. Dr. Salehian, Stephanie, and the rest of the VRHVEC team are all exceptionally compassionate, patient and knowledgeable. They communicate complex information and treatment options very effectively and tend to their patients like their own pets. We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful emergency animal hospital in York Region.

This is a message from us and our fur baby Zhuzhu. Thanks for saving our best buddy's life in the Canada Day long weekend. He was brought in the emregency with critical condition, within the 48 hours at the emergency, the whole team at the VRVEC show love, care and profession. We were given a plan and estimate in a very short time, onsite lab results came out quick also the x-ray. Special thanks to Dr Ip and Dr Sailor, they are very professional and proud of what they are doing, they also kept us updated 24/7, never missed one call that they promised. Thanks again for saving our best friend!

We had an emergency that required abdominal surgery. We were coming from another emergency clinic that were unfriendly, and angry to answer questions, and my dog seemed to dislike everyone there. When we found VRHVEC online and were intrigued by their all inclusive surgery package. I gave them a call and was welcomed to come to the clinic, I was informed about how busy they were and the availability of a surgical room. Upon arrival we were made to feel comfotrable from the minute we walked in. My dog was not doing well but I could tell he liked all of team right away. He threw up and the doctor came to have a look before it was cleaned. We discussed a plan to help my dog and went over it thoroughly. The vet techs working and the doctors were some of the nicest people I have met in a vet clinic before and I could tell that their main concern was the wellbeing of my dog, which is the main priority for me. My dog spent 2 days post surgery in their care and I recieved update photos of him, and a call twice a day to let me know exactly how he was doing and what they were doing (meds, overall recovery procedure). He took a little longer to take to his recovery but not once did I question that he was in the right place. When I picked him up all members of the team told me how good and sweet he was and that they loved him, which as an owner means the world to me. This surgery was a month ago and he is doing well and back to himself. Kurt and I thank you all so much, the whole team over three days were amazing. I recommend this emergency vet clinic to anyone in an emergency with their pet

I just wanted to share our positive experience with the Vaughan Richmond Hill Emergency Vet. We brought our 1.5 year old Mini Golden Doodle, Winnie in with an intestinal blockage. Our family was completely devastated and worried, but the entire staff did their absolute best to keep us calm and informed as well as took the utmost best care of our fur baby. I had peace of mind knowing that they made her feel loved and safe the entire time she was there. You could see that with how they engaged and cared for all of the animals in their care. She was in the best possible hands ever with Dr Sal, Dr Richard’s and the amazing team at the Vaughan and Richmond Hill Emergency Vet. Leaving your animal at anytime is not easy, but when they are super sick and you aren’t sure how they will pull though, it is even harder. Dr sal and Dr Richards were so kind, caring, compassionate, knowledgeable and professional. They kept my family informed every step of the way and never gave up on figuring out what was going on with our Winnie. Their perseverance, expertise and communication was like no other. It is because of them that our Winnie is back at home with us all happy and healthy. There is no words that can honestly express our level of gratitude to the entire team for that. Emotions are high during these stressful times and all we want is for our animals to be back at home with us and to know they are safe. Knowing there are emergency vets out there that have your pets best interest at heart and are mindful of the emotional and financial stress this is having on you and your family can give you some peace of mind that they are providing the best care for your animal and most fair pricing for you. I am beyond impressed with the entire team and our experience at Vaughan Richmond Hill Emergency Vet. We are forever grateful to you for all that you did to ensure our Winnie came back home to us.

The staff were so amazing and supportive. Our dog did not want to come home after surgery because he loved the staff so much. The doctors and nurses called us with constant updated and went above and beyond for our little guy to make sure he was comfortable and loved. 10/10 for service and care
13 February 2023 13:34
I had to bring my cat in because he got to a Lily flower over the weekend. He stayed there for a few days and he much better now! I see a lot of comments regarding the pricing, but what do you expect? It is an emergency vet. I was expecting a high price. The price shouldn't even matter when your pet is on the line!
All in all, great service, friendly staff, I would recommend!
Thank you:)
05 February 2023 5:10
They were amazing with Carol. They were so informative and took the time to explain everything which was really reassuring. They also called to follow up to see how she was doing after she was discharged which was a pleasant surprise.
12 January 2023 3:09
Very professional staff. Dr Nasim was great and Nikki did a fantastic job to book us in and take care of Lexie when she needed them the most?
11 January 2023 12:05
I waited at this clinic for over 4 hours and left to go to another clinic. There was no communication. I called three times to find out how much more of a wait and where we were in queue. My last call I was told we were next and the doctor was just looking at his file. 45 minutes later and he still wasn’t seen due to a critical situation. However no one called me to notify me or to suggest that perhaps I should take him somewhere else. I left with a sick dog and so worried about his night and what might happen. I would never go back to this clinic. This is not how animals or people should be treated in a time of concern and worry.

My family and I are so grateful for the compassionate and attentive care our black lab, Winston, got at the Vaughan-Richmond Hill Veterinary Emergency Clinic this past weekend. He vomited throughout the day on Saturday, and we took him to the vet on Saturday afternoon. After an X-ray, our vet determined that he had likely ingested something that was creating a partial obstruction. Overnight IV fluids and monitoring were necessary-they hoped that Winston might pass the obstruction without surgery. Our clinic (the Beach veterinary hospital) was closing at 8 and was closed on Sunday, so they spent two hours calling clinics around Toronto trying to find Winston emergency care. Most clinics are seriously understaffed at the moment, and Vaughan-Richmond Hill was the only emergency clinic that agreed to take Winston.

Dr. Sal and the team at the clinic gave Winston excellent care, and I wouldn't hesitate to return there again for an emergency (though I live far from there). In the end, Winston did need surgery (it turned out that my crazy lab had eaten a wine cork!), and Dr. Sal was able to get the cork out without cutting into Winston's intestine. Surgery took place around midnight on Sunday, and Winston is improving every day.

As far as cost goes, I see some reviews making complaints. Veterinary care is incredibly expensive-that's why we have vet insurance. Vaughan-Richmond Hill's quote for Winston's care was about half the cost of the quote my vet got from the VEC in downtown Toronto. Winston's care was $5000, a staggering cost to face unexpectedly on a regular Saturday, and a hard pill to swallow if you don't have insurance. VEC's estimate was over $10,000. So comparatively, Vaughan-Richmond Hill's rates are quite competitive.

After my experience, I would absolutely return and recommend this clinic to others.
26 December 2022 17:09
Staffs and doctors are very caring. Our pitbull was very well taken care of and the doctors would give us update before and after the surgery. Also giving us options to monitor or go ahead with the surgery and time to think before proceeding with the decision. As they know it is a big decision to make.

We are very thankful for their help.
15 December 2022 5:21
Sadly the staff at this clinic, particularly the receptionist, were so rude and unhelpful when I called late night as my dog's regular vet was closed. You'd think being an emergency clinic they may be a bit more compassionate, but they couldn't have been more unhelpful and rude than they were. Receptionist was speaking to me as if I was stupid, she needs to learn how to speak to people in a kind manner. SO glad I got the help my dog needed at another clinic. Save yourself and your pets and go elsewhere.
27 November 2022 0:43
1st and last time dealing with this place. Receptionist, the first point of contact a customer has-she is VERY Extremely rude on the phone yesterday afternoon. Receptionist hung up the phone when I called for my dog who needed to be seen asap. She was stating covid protocol rules, no entrance curbside drop off of my dog who also suffers from separation anxiety. Cold attitude, as a senior its completely unacceptable to have to deal with. Every other emergency clinic in the Gta is allowing pet parents in with their pet. Stay far away from this place it's nonsense!
25 November 2022 6:28
We brought our 11 month old puppy in because she had a slight fever, having a hard time breathing, spitting up and wasn’t eating.
The service was very prompt and professional And affordable.
The doctor was super knowledgeable, very friendly, and gave us several options that met all of our needs. The clinic followed up the next morning to see how our puppy was doing.
I would highly recommend this to anybody who needs quality emergency care quickly for their fur baby.
I am so happy to report out puppy is on the road to recovery thanks to the doctor and the clinic.
23 November 2022 20:34
We would like to thank the kind, attentive, professional work of doctor
and assistants who look after Lily.
She's back to normal, Keep up the good work
Agnes
23 November 2022 11:44
Great vet extremely knowledgeable and understanding, all the staff members were very caring and helpful! They took amazing care of my cat biscuit and answered all the questions I had.
16 November 2022 13:15
It was absolutely my worst experience. I brought it
here because my cat was coughing. They didn't let
me in, they said I have to wait in the car. An hour
later the secretary called and told me it was an
emergency clinic and they had a $250 fee, and I
agreed. At the end of the one hour treatment
period, they said that my cat's blood tests were
clean and that I had to pay 1291 dollars for the
analysis, but they did not inform me beforehand for
this and did not receive my approval. They didn't
return my cat until I borrowed money from my
friend and paid the bill. I asked for blood tests but
they said they couldn't give it. I used the antibiotics
they gave me for a week, but it didn't work, the
cough continued. I took it to another vet and he
said that I used the wrong antibiotic and this
antibiotic is used for skin problems.
12 November 2022 23:09
Extremely grateful to Dr. Kuk and the staff. I took my 8 week old mini cockapoo, Falcon, as he was having constant diarrhea and not feeling well. My local vet wasn’t available and none of the vets in the area could take us in either. Dr. Kuk, Diana, Teresa and the rest of the wonderful staff took him in and really took care of Falcon. They even trimmed his nails. They gave great instructions for his medications and food until he gets better and even checked up on him the day after through the phone. Phenomenal service and lovely people. Real life heroes that needs more appreciation on the daily for what they do. Thanks so much from Falcon and I:)
27 September 2022 12:38
They basically saved my cat life. King was on the verge of dying and they saved his life. They might be costly a bit because it is an emergency vet but worth every penny because king is back to normal. He had a very bad urinary blockage. I am grateful for them to have save my cat life. I recommend.
25 September 2022 0:37
Expensive and I made a right decision to take my dog to another good animal hospital, instead of waiting here dying and $$$$. The attitude cannot be changed in this Vet and they just don't care. All they care is if you can pay. Good luck with your business. It is a miracle that low rating can still survive. But how many pet owners cried with empty pocket, nobody know and my lost is your awareness, Pet owner be aware, do not risk your pet being here, go find another one, any one is better than this one.
22 September 2022 5:00
It was a long day, and not cheap, but the care here was excellent. We came from Muskoka on a long weekend and were seen within an hour. The staff were friendly and transparent, and have been able to make our dog comfortable until she can be seen by our regular vet. She was lethargic and turning down food in the morning, and back to her regular old self when she was released back to us.

Dr. Da Silva was particularly lovely, and I’m grateful for their hard work, and competent care.
17 September 2022 20:32
Had to bring my dog in because she had a bloated stomach and was in alot of pain. It was a Sunday and this was the only vetanarian that was open near me so I had little choice. The first thing they asked for even before examining my dog was my credit card information and $1000 deposit for "efficiency". That should have been a sign that these people only care about money and not my pet. I had to call multiple times for updates on my dogs situation because the only time they would call me is when they need more money. My final invoice was $3000 for my dog to stay overnight and I still had to bring my dog to my regular vetanarian because her condition was still the same as when she went in on Sunday.
05 September 2022 11:50
Everyone was super helpful and compassionate. My mini schnauzer ate 20+ grapes. It was 10pm at night. The clinic was busy yet still managed to take her in quickly and induced vomit to clear out the grapes. It was handled with urgency but also with clarity on the process. Fees were disclosed upfront and reasonable. The vet also gave options on overnight monitoring. They called me next day to check on her status. Gave further instructions on feeding. I could feel the caring and sincerity. Glad we have this 24/7 emergency clinic nearby!
28 August 2022 23:29
I brought my very sick kitty, she needed surgery, she ate too many of my elastics, the hospital took amazing care of my princess, she provided constant updates photos, upfront costs, finance options even if my credit is bad, this place let me save my kittys life very nice ladies and doctors working there still caling to ask how she is. Mia and i are happy campers

Hands down the worst vet experience in my 40+ years of owning companion animals.

Our pup got sick on a Sunday, so no choice but to bring him to this clinic, as other clinics were saying it was up to an 8 hour wait. We came here because we were initially told an hour wait, which turned into 4 1/2 with no updates on a very hot, sunny day. I totally get you triage your patients, so things might have changed, but considering what transpired I could totally see them underestimating the wait time.

When our dog was finally seen, we got a call from the vet, who seemed surprised to find the dog panting heavily after 4 1/2 hours outside in the heat - we were charge $50 for them to put him in an oxygen cage for no reason (as per our regular vet). He said he didn't want to "touch him too much" because it would distress him further, but he managed to do a "5 second ultrasound" (!? !), which we were charged $230 for, until we started to ask questions. (Funny how that charge was removed once we did.) They then immediately sent us a pre-estimate for over $4000 without any clear explanation of the dog's condition or course of treatment Every question we asked was met with an audible sigh and and terse "hold on", while the tech ran to ask the doctor, who couldn't be bothered to speak to us again. Terrible place that will take advantage of owners who are distressed over their pets illness. They will go ahead with treatments and tests without telling you, and be resentful that you want more info. Total charlatans.

We did take our dog to our vet on Monday, and he did end up at another emergency vet clinic for 3 days so he could get 24 hr care. We were happy to spend the money BECAUSE THEY WERE ABOVE BOARD, TOOK THE TIME TO EXPLAIN WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE, AND ON THE WHOLE WERE PROFESSIONAL AND CARING. All attributes missing from this clinic.

BTW, that $4000 pre-estimate did not even include overnight care, which was a huge chunk of our final bill at the other emerg clinic. Just a warning - this place charges RIDICULOUS prices - $245+ just for the worthless consult!
06 August 2022 9:14
Unfortunately I can't rate lower than this.
After two x-rays and scan they did open my dog and they didn't see anything.
How much? More than 4k.
Result? Nothing.
They don have knowledge.
They collect money.
What is important? Money.only money.
You have to pay full before.

I'm sorry for my little dog.
03 August 2022 1:06
Walked in with our dog was told by the rude millennial girl working there to go outside and call. Asked while walking what the phone number was and was told it was on the door. The place was deserted.never again
02 August 2022 21:34
I really don't know where to start, my cat's foot was bleeding badly so I called them, they told me to bring her, when I got there they said the vet can't see me because she is busy and apparently there was only one vet in the emergency clinic, even though I told them my cat is bleeding and she is in a critical situation they didn't even bother to take a look at her and told me to take her to another clinic, they are so useless, I won't go back there again.
12 July 2022 3:37
I called this clinic approximately around 3: 00 am in the morning asking if I could bring my cat to the emergency clinic since this is the nearest emergency clinic to me. The receptionist told me that they only have one veterinarian and one tech doing surgery and they are not able to examine my cat. Then, I called a few others emergency clincs to see if they accept my cat, they told me that I have to visit a local emergency clinic that is in my area (which would be this clinic). When I called for the second time to ask what I should do, the receptionist with a ridiculous tone told me that “you already called our clinic, we cannot examine your cat”. My cat died today around 4: 00 am and ever since I’m wondering what kind of emergency veterinary clinic is this when they can’t accept such important emergencies? ! So now all the pets like mine should die because you are so careless to plan ahead and have enough Dr.s and techs on call to accommodate people’s inquires?
Also to whoever runs this clinic you need to think serious while hiring people! I didn’t need such a rude behaviour when my cat was fighting for her life.
05 January 2022 11:03
We are very happy with the care our cat received at this clinic. The staff communicated very clearly and provided frequent updates about how our cat was doing. They were very honest and upfront about all of the costs and were happy to discuss all our concerns. We even received a photo update of our little guy which was a nice touch. You may have to wait while dropping off or picking up your pet which is understandable since they are dealing with many emergency situations. Thank you to all the staff for your excellent care!
02 January 2022 19:27
So the sitter fed Mochi grapes and she’s a puppy. They took her in as soon as I called at 8am. I waited maybe 5mins and got blood results within 2 hours. They were very sweet with her and gave her very special puppy treatment.
30 December 2021 11:43
I would like to thank Doctor Arash and the staff for taking an amazing care of my English bulldog puppy. Doctor Arash, like a true professional, did all the requisite tests to ensure that my puppy was fine. I will recommend this clinic to any pet owner. Thank you so much for your compassion, sincerity and care.
29 December 2021 23:52
Seemed to work for our dog, but you can pretty much charge anything when an owner is desperate. This doesn't mean you should. They do.
I've brought my dog to more than one emergency vet. This place is expensive.
27 December 2021 21:03
They were amazing with Carol. They were so informative and took the time to explain everything which was really informative. They also called to follow up to see how she was doing after she was discharged which was a pleasant surprise.
22 December 2021 10:51
Dr. K is excellent and informative. This place is really good for emergencies. Not chasing after money like other places, truly loves animals.
19 December 2021 10:36
Do not go to this place! What s scam! They charged us $550 to give our cat pills and send her home with an open wound! Unprofessional, dishonest, irresponsible, and simply money-hungry people! I wish they would get the service, they provide!

Respond to the response:
We were giving the option to do an x-ray.and our vet helped our cat without unneeded x-rays. Xray was your only option, probably because it costs 550.
15 December 2021 0:24
Excellent service for our little Brio. They provided lots of updates of what our dog was dealing with and followed up the next day. They also encouraged us to contact them if we needed assistance. Thank you to this amazing team. If there is a long wait make sure you wait they are truly amazing and compassionate people.
13 December 2021 19:56
I highly recommend this emergency Vet! I transferred my male Himalayan named Bruiser, who required surgery (cystotomy) as the first emergency hospital was asking too much and this spot has the $2,500 all inclusive surgery. He had some complications, immediately I thought how much more and the answer was nothing. Every Dr that called to provide an update, took the time to explain everything. It was also reassuring to know he was purring for the staff, which reflects the time and care they spend on the animals (as he’s usually like a tiger in a cage). If I need to use an emergency vet again, I’d go here.
30 May 2022 11:39
User, funny you say that… 2500.00 all inclusive. That’s exactly what I was told but due to the other tests Bloodwork & ultra sound, (which were done by the transferring vet) to save time. The blood work was to be reduced from max $4000.00 price.
When I arrive you have to call and at this time was advised that they were not prepared to do the surgery as doctor didn’t like the bloodwork, which they had and discussed with the previous vet & they had already indicated an hour prior that they were ready for her!
Now they want to try to stabilize her blood stats over the next 6+ hours before deciding if they are going to attempt surgery!
Then they come out with a quote of the cost to stabilize her of 3600.00 + cost of surgery 4,000.00 if they think she is a candidate for surgery? She needed emergency surgery due to a serious uterus invention, which she had been on medication for and was improving and then started to throw up blood 5 days later.
I brought her into Barrie yesterday to be looked at snd advised she needs emergency surgery to remove her uterus immediately.

Arrangements were made to have this done in Vaughn Richmond Hill as they have reduced surgery charge and have the overnight facilities she will need following the surgery.
Not only are their rates not what they said, but they are truly not confident that my dog is going to make it through surgery even if they Stabilized her blood stats to what they felt was good… but then they indicate that the bloodwork shows signs of kidney damage already meaning that even if she made it through surgery and recovery she may still on live a few days or weeks.
Then they start going over forms & talking about Euthanasia & CPR if things don’t look good? !?
Oh yes, those were in addition to the other prices!
Not to mention the 690.00 I paid at the other vet prior to her travelling for the surgery!
3 1/2 hours discussing this outside on a very hot day. I should note the Vet in Barrie went over the bloodwork & said he was happy with it and better then he had anticipated. It was only after the vet went over the bloodwork with me and gave me a copy & indicated he’d already sent in on to Vaughn Richmond Hill Clinic. Then he flowed out with their clinic snd inserted a intervenous and came out to advise that they wanted me to head their now as they are ready for her snd to call when I arrive snd they’ll take her in…. Yet apparently this clinic who was sent the paperwork and indicated to the Barrie Vet for us to head their as they were ready for the surgery.
When I arrived I called and was told the doctor didn’t like the bloodwork and wanted a $4000.00 deposit & they were going to “try” to stabilize her 1st!
As the deposit was $4000.00 I questioned this as that would be the full maximum I was advised.
Doctor came on snd indicated it would cost an extra $1000.00 for the medication of diabetic drugs to lower her potassium that he thought was 2 high & fluids and antibiotics intervenously -Note: dog had been on antibiotics since Tuesday night & probiotics!
When they came out with the paper quote to stabile her which was just over 3600.00 + the surgery
* if they felt she was stabilized enough. Note: she was still walking snd drinking this whole time & her infection in her uterus wasn’t getting any better in the 4 1/2 hours lost from the time a left barrie …
I asked for medication for the infection & the medication that they wanted to give her to stabilizer her so I could give it to her & I was told No because they never charged me anything yet so my dog wasn’t their patient yet!
And yet while I was trying to figure out why the Barrie Vet told me the bloodwork better than Anticipated and was happy with it, and how this vet is saying clearly the opposite snd I’m being told that he’s the Vet now so their in charge and if they want to stabilizer then their in control now! Seems funny that Barrie Vet stats Vaughn Vet is in charge and yet the Vaughn Clinic states they haven’t charged me for any services so Barrie Vet was still responsible.

I came there for surgery based on the amount they discussed and now their on the fence about the surgery & want to charge 3600.00+ to stabilize her & start talking about if she need to euthanasia her if she isn’t going to be a candidate for surgery or resuscitation if she collapses in their care while trying to stabilizer!
The $4000.00. I questioned them again about their 2500.00 cost for surgery! This time the lady working the afternoon shift - stated we have a sale in of 2500.00 but that’s just for the surgery not for anything else. The diagnostic tests of $4,000.00 is on top of the 2500.00!
Yet the Daytime lady clearly talked with the doctor on day shift and gave the 2500.00 included the overnight stays following the surgery. Bloodwork would be extra but the total max for everything would not exceed $4,000.00 in total.
Yet an hour later their stating it’s $2500.00 + 4000.00 + stabilization + 3600.00+
I don’t know how they get to advertise false information. If you are going to advertise that surgery Is 2500.00 all inclusive then they had ought to advertise the prices for everything not included that you’ll still need in order for the surgery to be completed!
When a human goes into hospital for surgery they quote an amount that includes alll test required in order to complete the surgery snd they anticipate the worse Scenarios to ensure they capture the most it would cost
Same thing happens with dental quotes… they quote based on the worse scenarios and if it’s less than it’s less
Pet owns should also be able to trust in pet services and be given “full quotes” with all costs to expect following surgery… re: fully written quotes with all costs associated with this surgery so owners can make a true informed decision.
This would ensure pet owners agree to surgery at 2500.00 to a maximum of $4,000.00 and asked for a payment of $4,000.00 deposit and then learn that the other surprise charges of —$2500.00 & 3600.00 are above this already paid $4,000.00. Total = $10,100.00 in case anyone was adding it up!
And Not everyone has Pet Insurance, but it truly appears that now that Pet Insurance exist affordable & “honest” affordable pricing for Vet Care is harder and harder to find for the average pet loving people who don’t have pet insurance.
And your dog gets sick and you have to take them to the vet….
13 December 2021 9:55
They took great care of our cat who had eaten a poisonous lily. Every staff member we met was so kind and caring. Despite how understandibly busy they were on a Friday long weekend they saw to us very promptly and had great communication throughout his entire stay. I hope I never have to use emergency vet services again but I feel much better knowing there's a place I can go where my cats will be given excellent care. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much.
12 December 2021 7:39
Disappointing.
Pre-surgery - they give you information on initial check, what tests needs to be done and pricing.
Post-surgery - discharged a day later with minimal meds and information. No follow up calls or care. If you follow up because of concerns you are repeatedly told to go back to your regular vet even though they did the surgery. They don't send the clinical notes to your regular vet right away so it makes it harder for you to go back to your regular vet with no information. My dog had complications afterwards. When I called with my concerns on this, was told repeatedly to take my dog to regular vet even after I told them regular vet will not take my dog in as he did not do the surgery. If you get another vet from clinic that didn't do the surgery will tell you 'I didn't do the surgery, so not sure what's going on'. It's one clinic so you most definitely should know what's going on. Used staples for closing and it was painful to take out. The vet taking the staples out said stitches are more common and should've been used.
10 December 2021 8:39
My dog needed emergency surgery this past Saturday for an obstruction. We are from out of town and our vet sent us Friday night to another location in Toronto that wanted 10k (no one should ever have to choose between life and death of their beloved pet based on fees), they were able to refer us here for $2,500, so right off the start that is amazing, they obviously care about helping animals and provide an affordable fee. The care that she received from start to finish was beyond what I could have asked for. I was contacted immediately after her assessment, at the start of her surgery (there was an important finding) and after her surgery. The details that I was given was more than I expected and I was given time to ask questions and discuss my concerns. I was obviously extremely upset and the caring, reassuring voice on the other end made a world of difference; being a long weekend I am sure they probably were overwhelmed, but not once did I feel rushed. She had to stay an extra night and I was updated as to why and what was happening. Instead of rushing her home, they took the extra precautions needed to ensure she came home prepared for her recovery. I also called twice to get an update and was put through to her doctor. Today I received a call asking how she was doing, this to me is an extra step that they do and shows how much they care about the animals they see. We live over an hour away and I would not hesitate to return to this place if we ever needed emergency care again. I volunteer for a dog rescue and have highly recommended this clinic to our team. The team at this clinic is absolutely amazing! Our Leah thanks everyone involved in her care, but we do hope to never see them again.lol

Shannon, did they do it for 2500.00?
They told me that and by the end it was going to cost 3600.00 stabilize potassium
& up to 4000.00 for any diagnostic tests & bloodwork already done before travelling there
And then 2500.00 for surgery
That’s 10,100.00 oh and if she were to need resuscitation that would be another 600.00 or sneezed $1000.00 …
Reading through this comments it appears this clinic has a 2 tier system of ones who qualify for the $2500.00 all inclusive surgery & those who don’t? ‍

I brought my cat Luna to this hospital recently for suspected respiratory problems. The staff and the doctor on call were all very professional, approachable, and compassionate during a very stressful situation. The triage procedure was handled very efficiently, and Luna was seen very shortly after I arrived. The doctor was able to quickly provide me with a well-informed assessment, available options, and clear instructions on what to watch out for at home following Luna's discharge. I knew the entire time that Luna was in great hands. I am very glad that I brought Luna here and will not hesitate to do so again. We’re lucky to have such a great emergency team in our area.

Dr. Arash Salehian is knowledgeable, and polite. The front desk staff are professional and kind. Recommended and will use again if needed.

I had to bring my cat for emergency care late at night. I did not know that hospital and my experience there turned out to be exceptional. The team at the hospital took amazing care of my animal. The night doctor and the day doctor both gave me a thorough and thoughtful account of my cat’s health situation and were very patient in answering all my questions. My cat was terminal and had to be euthanized. The doctors were extremely empathetic, helpful and considerate of my needs. I cannot thank them enough for what they did for my cat and for me.

Not organized, very rude people and staff. When I asked after 1: 30 hours why I might wait, she said you can go sue us and hang up!
28 September 2021 2:45
I’m sorry but I don’t think I’ve ever experienced something like this. I helped bring someone’s pet here for an emergency, and was told “I’m sorry we can’t help you unless you pay us $1500”

Truly disgusting to see people like this in this world.

Called at 1PM. They said come and it should be a 2-3 hour wait. Arrived at 5PM, signed in and was told 4-6 hour wait. Considering it’s a long weekend that was understandable. 9PM called the front desk to check in, was told another 4-6 hours. Every car in the parking lot was changed. Told the front desk initially that we thought our dog had ingested something and was extremely lethargic. When I called back at midnight after waiting 7 hours, they say “oh you’re the one with the dog with diarrhea? ”

Zero management skills. Glad we left and didn’t go in. 8AM the next morning and they didn’t even call. We could still be waiting in the parking lot. Brutal.

Do not go there, they are just cheats and like to scare the hell out of you.went with my 8 week old puppy and we almost lost our mind, the DR will scare you to the worst and for 15 minutes of service it cost $450

The hospital staff do not care about our cat’s safety and they hustled just for couple of hundreds more. If it wasn’t the only close by emergency open during long weekend, I wouldn’t have brought our cat there and would have listened to bad reviews.

The clinic is VERY expensive.i brought my cat in for an emergency, it cost me almost $900 (incl.exams, medications, etc), it turned out to be just an infection.they did give me the cost up front though, so if i didn't want to pay, i could have walked away.they got the exam done, blood work, gave him painkillers, provided detailed instructions on how to administer the medications.staff were friendly and compassionate.due to covid you have to wait in your car while they do everything, so you're not exposed to anyone else.i would recommend going here only if you have a serious emergency or a good insurance for your pet.

I can't thank Dr. Warmington, Dr. Sal and staff enough for diagnosing and treating him. They put my puppy's best interest at heart and kept me up to date every couple hours (I wish my doctors had the same bedside manners!).

We brought my 7 month old golden retriever, Harlo, here because he was vomiting and could not hold down water.

Dr Sal diagnosed Harlo with an intestinal obstruction and gave us options of whether to do the procedure here or at TVEH. He explained Harlo's situation, the surgery procedure and possible risks that would arise because of his heart murmur. Dr. Sal was very patient and answered all our questions (I was calling every half hour from 12-3am) and gave us time to decide. It was a tumultuous weekend for my puppy but I was glad he was in the care of VR-VEC. Now my puppy is home being his loving, annoying self again!

Thank you to the Veterinary Doctors and staff who work so tirelessly to give our pets the best care. It is not always easy, especially during this pandemic to balance the care of very ill pets, the pet parents waiting in their cars, and trying to determine the best approach to treat pets and keep people informed. Unfortunately, we have had to use the services a couple times over the last few weeks, so we are grateful that our dog has been in good hands. Thank you.

Went here in the middle of the night since one of our pet rats was really not doing so great and she ended up having to be put down. That's fine, I get that she's old and that's what happens but they then charge over 200$ and from there it's extra for them to dispose of her afterwards. We had to bring her back home in tears since we couldn't afford the extra charges, it's basically highway robbery.

We are so extremely grateful to the team at Vaughan- Richmond Hill Veterinary Emergency Clinic. No amount of words could express how thankful we are for there help saving our little boy. This wonderful team was willing and able to help us with no notice and they were so wonderful in explaining everything to us very clearly every step of the way. Thank you for saving our little boy Major.

We brought our 5 year old labradoodle in 3 days after getting his leg amputated. After a very short wait he was taken in, due to covid we were not allowed in with him so we waited on their parking lot. When the vet (I forgot his name) came to see us he assumed it would be a straight forward re closure of an opened wound. Instead he had to re open the wound due to necrosis. This was a complete shock to us as we just thought he scraped the wound with his cone. Afterwards he came out to show us pictures of the inside of the open wound, it was very bad. He did his best but urged us to visit the surgeon ASAP.
Day 1 after his treatment Fin’s entire wound has cleared out, the stitching is holding up and he looks and seems to feel much better
Thank you to your team for saving my dogs life we will be forever great full

They keep you waiting in the parking lot. They do not give you updates which would allow you to come back. They do not value the time of the people who are paying them. A very bad experience. And you are not sure if your pet is dead or alive until hours after it is taken in.

Absolutely awesome emergency service! My dog Harvey needed emergency surgery to have a obstruction removed in us intestine. They kept us in the loop at all times and looked after him with great care.

Thank god for reivews! I am sorry for all of you and your pets that have suffered at the hands of this clinc. I was researching reviews to find a clinic for my dog, but I WILL NEVER USE THIS CLINIC. I hope everyone else searching will take the opportunity to read these horrendious comments BEFORE stepping foot inside their clinc. Shame on them!

We brought our golden to clinic for emergency splenectomy. Very affordable, professional and up front.
Thanks to all staff for giving us a few more months with our beloved Piper.

Do not take your pet there. I went there cleanup a injury my cat had. The female doctor is a scam. She told me my cat has severe kidney problem and told me I should treat it at the clinic asap which could cost thousands. I said no thanks and consulted 2 other different vets from I usually go to, and they said it's normal to have a kidney slightly bigger than the other. So in other words, she used scare tactics to mislead owners into paying thousands for a problem that doesn't exist. Avoid this clinic at all cost.

Wow, I’m so amazed and happy on the service I received here. I’m not sure what the other bad reviews are referring to but I will speak about my experience.

I have a Bengal cat that couldn’t get a visit to his regular vet until Friday. I called this location and they advised me of the expectations and were very clear on costs and possibility of not getting any medication since his condition was not as “serious” as some of the other visits (which I totally understand since he only had open sores). The administrator from the initial call and the other person who answered at 9pm were great, very clear on expecting and price and helpful.

I went over and got there around 9pm. Called the office and waiting till around 9: 30pm since there was another patient before me. My cat usually dislikes other humans especially strangers but they advised that he was relatively good for his breed. They changed his pad since he urinates when he’s nervous.

The veterinary that helped care for my cat was Dr. Rachel. She was the sweetest, caring and very informative doctor. She went through every possibility of what is going on and what they can and can not do. She discussed price and even provided me advice on what she wouldn’t want to do because she didn’t want me to waste money if it might not work for his situation. She stayed on the phone for about 15min to thoroughly explain everything to me.

I was able to come home with a nice fancy cone, medication and a cream to help him which helped him a lot overnight.

The next day the vet technician followed up to ask how Zazu was doing and was also very kind and friendly. If ever I need to bring my pets for an emergency I will definitely consider this location again.

Thank you all for your help and making me feel comfortable it was a great experience.

Review is reflective of receptionist's customer service upon arrival, not the veterinarians. I didn't see any of the veterinarians due to unknown wait time. Went down the road to Dr. Kafai!

We brought our 14 week old aussiedoodle puppy into this clinic on Sunday evening after an accident resulting in a severe limp/inability to put weight on her front leg. Everyone at this clinic was great and we were very pleased with our experience. We received a follow up call the next evening just to check in our pup's progress. Accidents do happen - and if we are ever in this situation again, I wouldn't hesitate to go back to this clinic.

NEVER EVER TAKE YOUR PET THERE. RUDE AND UNPLEASANT STUFF ESPECIALLY THE DOCTOR. READ REVIEWS. THIS PLACE WILL ROB YOU OUT OF YOUR MONEY WITH NO TREATMENT. IF I CAN GIVE 0 STARS I WOULD. NEVER EVER TAKE YOUR PET THERE. DO YOUR RESEARCH. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE.

We brought my 2 year old cat here who was acting lethargic and not eating because of eating a foreign body. From the very beginning, everyone seemed very compassionate and ready to help. They broke down the pricing for us and explained what all the costs would be. They were able to do surgery and remove the foreign bodies from my kitties and called often with updates. I would highly recommend taking your pets here in an emergency! You want people who truly take care of your pets and love them the way you so, that's what the team did for my cat!

I could not more highly recommend the Vaughan - Richmond Hill Veterinary Emergency Clinic and the kindness, professionalism, and dedication they have to treating their pet patients.
Unfortunately on Thursday May 7, my little houdini got into some chocolate she had no business being able to get to. I was able to induce vomiting within 10 mins but was concerned since she is a 6 lb dog and had to be hospitalized at another clinic on April 29th due to gastro issues. I brought her in and the staff was kind, professional, and treated her promptly ensuring that she was in good health before letting me take her home.
The following day May 8th, my dog Abby was quite lethargic all day which is very out of character. When her condition didn't improve, I called the VEC to ask for advice - I had been told to watch for hyperactivity and panting and Abby was displaying the opposite. I dropped Abby off with Andrew, who was incredibly kind and introduced himself to her and made her comfortable - it is hard during the pandemic to have to pass off your sick pet but I felt comfortable giving her over to him.
I received an update after a few hours that Abby's blood glucose and potassium were quite alarmingly low, which could potentially indicative of a mass on her pancreas or Addison's disease, both of which could potentially be life threatening. A huge shout out to Dr. Jenna Richards who stayed well after her shift had ended since she had taken my initial call and wanted to assist with Abby. She very kindly explained that Abby would need to be hospitalized and what tests and treatment she would need to undergo over the next few days and was sympathetic and comforting while I briefly cried over the phone.
Another huge shout out to Dr. Danielle Katz, who continued the same kind and professional care with Abby over the weekend and provided me with regular updates on her condition. Dr. Katz worked hard to find a diagnosis, and was never pushy with regards to tests she did not think were needed but presented me with options and advice, which I appreciate from a financial standpoint. It was great to hear how much her and the team cared about my dog's health, and to hear that they would cuddle her throughout the day.
I was able to bring Abby home on Sunday with antibiotics while we await some further tests/blood work to come back. Since Abby has been home, the clinic has checked in every day to see how she is doing and has provided me with tips and suggestions when needed for her care. There is not a clear diagnosis of what triggered my dog's health issues, but I know that the team has worked to exhaust all options and appreciate that they did not rush to treat an issue without ensuring there was a clear diagnosis. Veterinary Emergency care is expensive, but in reviewing the itemized invoice I don't feel that I was price gouged from my prior experience seeking emergency and regular veterinary care for my pet elsewhere. It has been a blessing to have my dog home and in good spirits.
Thank you to the Vaughan - Richmond Hill Veterinary Emergency Clinic for your kindness, professionalism, and diligence in caring for my pet. I would absolutely recommend this clinic to anyone in need of emergency care, and while I hope that Abby and I never have to visit again, I would most certainly return if I found myself with another pet health emergency.

Very compassionate staff, and very supportive of our requests as we held our kitty for his last moments on Earth and through his transition over the Rainbow Bridge.
This clinic is open at night and throughout the night on weeknights when all the sad things happen, which really helped our family.

They gave my dog 6 stitches. 2 fell out in the first few days. Now I have to take my dog to another vet because the cut is infected.

They charged $1200 for the whole procedure so I thought they would have done a good job.
