VCA Canada Mt. Pleasant - Davisville Animal Hospital

I took my cat here in 2016 and the experience was great. The vet was nice and all of the front desk staff were super knowledgeable. I called once in 2020 to ask a question and they were very helpful. Unfortunately, my recent visit last week was awful. They had two very young people at the front who were pretty unprofessional (one was sucking on a lollipop while we were talking) and incompetent. They really need to get professional and knowledgeable people at the front desk again. That visit left a bad taste in my mouth which is sad because I've had good experiences with them in the past.

Poor attitude towards clients. For a simple but important Rabies vaccine which it’s urgent to take, they won’t book us in for next two months.

Extremely low quality service. Doctors don't even bother to read medical records before appointments and it takes them ages to call with test results. Once my dog had intoxication and almost got paralyzed and they told me that she just had patellar luxation. By evening she couldn't walk and I had to take her to emergency where they got the root cause in minutes. Vets in vca didn't even notice that she had nystagmus. They also didn't notice that my dog started to develop Cushing's syndrome, though she is on Prednisolone and has clear symptoms with which we came multiple times. I can't understand how this is possible. I'm extremely dissatisfied with their service. Not speaking about how expensive they are. Looks like they only care about money and not animals. Maybe they can do vaccines or nail trimming or some simple procedures, but if your pet has a health issue, especially a chronic one, I highly NOT recommend going to this clinic. The only good experience we had, was with Dr Murray, but we only saw him once as he wasn't available during our other visits. We only went to this clinic because it was close, but it's enough.

Even though I moved, I continue to bring my dog here because service is great - they speak candidly about the value of different medical care, while not making you feel pressured to spend more than you're comfortable. Great team!

All but good things to say about the doctor. However, Tara, the receptionist, is an insolent, entitled and aloof person who should not be “serving” customers. She belittled a customer with scoffs and yells. It’s a shame because I was happy with the vet but they will lose my business because of this woman.

My dog’s tail, skin and ears are a little irritated. I have seen it for the second time. The first time has no effect, and then I watched it again. It took more than a thousand for a total of more than a thousand, and it seems that I still don’t see any effect. If it works I will come back again to give a high rating

First off, I have to say I used to love this place. Dr. Claire Keeley is absolutely AMAZING! She's seen my 11 year old Yorkie a couple of times and she's extremely professional and assertive. She deserves 10 stars!

However, Tara, the receptionist, is the rudest most entitled person I've ever encountered. She has NO manners and clearly lacks education, she was literally yelling at me in front of her co-workers. Please invest in sending her to Customer Service Training cause she seriously thinks she owns the place, oh wait no, a business owner would NEVER display that kind of erratic behavior towards a customer.

Anyway, after today's horrible experience we won't be coming back (even though I paid $100 in advance for a fecal exam) I rather lose that $ and take my dog somewhere else.

I really love the staff there! They are very attentive, loving and informative. I appreciate the high quality service they provide. I am very happy to take my pets there they are in good hands. If only I could find such a good clinic for myself. Sigh.

This is not the vet to go to if you have lifelong sick animals. We took our cats in twice for the same issue, had to pay both times and are currently being avoided by their management.

I honestly don’t have a single negative thing to say about this clinic. They are so genuinely lovely, empathetic, accommodating and knowledgeable. I’m a new client recently when my dog started having eye issues and they have gone above and beyond to take care of my little guy.

Honestly, i wasn't happy with the outcome of our visit to this place i was and still am quite angry in all fairness though this vet and the staff were very empathetic and supportive throughout the entire process. I totally would recommend this clinic just be sure you either have good pretty insurance, a credit card or a good amount of emergency funds at your finger tips!

Love these vets, I pay a premium for the service that lets me bring in my cat for checkups and nail trimmings whenever and it also covers all
Vaccinations and standard yearly tests. For me it’s worth it and I’ve never had anything but a good experience! Every vet my cat has seen has been kind and professional and the techs and support staff are very funny and positive.

A little on the expensive side and they try to accommodate but you know how it is with almost all vet business.
I'm thankful they are close to home in case of an emergency which they have proven at a much needed time for my dog.
I would only hope they would be a little more connected interpersonal with their clients.
A little detached in my experience.at the same time I don't hesitate to refer others.
You can depend on their service to take care of your pet!

This was my dog Boscos vet till we had to move out of the area. They will be missed such friendly and helpful and loving staff!

The staff is beyond friendly and they are very sweet. They make you and your pet feel important and you can tell they take their jobs seriously. They care for every client and I always feel safe to leave my cat there.

Fairly pricey and they never seem to keep a firm appointment time (expect to wait 10-15 minutes more). However, the staff are dedicated, friendly professionals, which is why I've given them my business for 20 years.

I used their vet services twice. Both times I was really unhappy with the service. Only use this place of you have pet insurance.

The last time I went for a UTI check up. They wouldn't do a urine test without a check up. I thought that was odd but I went through it. After a rude check up with a vet I was told that I needed blood work (for a UTI!) and I would be charged again for a check up if blood work was needed. Afterwards I was told my elderly dog had thyroid issues and no follow up on the UTI was necessary (not what my regular vet does). Not only did they pursue me to do more expensive tests but the UTI returned and ended up being an antibiotic resistant bacteria.

Later my regular vet did the same series of tests and saw the same hormone and thyroid issue but given my dogs age it wasn't a concern.

The first time was borderline and my own regular vet said it was a hard call to make. A split nail had to wrap the paw after trimming the nail away. I had insisted it was too tight. After we removed the bandage and leaving she still favored the paw. I turn around and ask them to check. They immediately suggested it was an additional charge for another examination. Luckily after 3 days she was fine. It was really annoying because they didn't listen to me on both visits it was too tight.

I don't recommend paying out of pocket here.

Dr. Murray is the absolute best. It's so clear how much he cares about the animals, as well as the owners! He's very transparent about costs and will always offer all options to you before moving forward with anything.

Just last week, I needed a last minute appointment for my poor cat who wasn't feeling well, and even though they were completely booked for the day, they found time to see her and treat her.

To add to all that, my cat is a very nervous and aggressive girl at the vet (totally sweet any other time) and they're really great with her and do everything to make her more comfortable and avoid unnecessary stress at all times.

I just received a follow up call this morning to check on my cat's recovery and they encourage to call with any questions or concerns afterwards.

Truly appreciative - Dr. Murray is the best vet I've ever seen!

I can’t speak highly enough of the staff here. My 3 month old puppy was having some serious health issues and even though they weren’t my vet at the time, they rushed us in.

Turned out to be an issue for an emergency vet hospital so unfortunately we couldn’t just stay with this vet the whole way through, but they called to follow up with me and the emergency vet multiple times through this all.

I think the emergency vet did a good job, but they were horrible with communicating back to me (just gave me the suspected diagnosis not what that means, or what got them to that diagnosis) so I really didn’t know what was going on but Andrew from VCA took the time to explain what it was, why they think it is what it is, what they’re likely to do for follow up in the near future, and what this means for our puppy long term.

Thanks so much Andrew. Your knowledge, kindness and patience did not go unnoticed.

I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the outstanding care that Dr. Claire Keeley has given to my cat Billy. Having your beloved furbaby fall very ill, during the pandemic (especially not being able to be there at the clinic), is very frightening and upsetting. Dr. Keeley explained each step of treatment in detail, listened patiently (and answered) each of my questions (I had many!), and was very compassionate. I have taken all of my furbabies to this clinic - since it first opened, over 20 years ago. I wanted to shout out to Catherine at the front desk. She was very kind and compassionate when I lost my girl furbaby this past October and the same with my most recent experience.

The veterinary is amazing and would be 5 stars, but be aware that some of the front desk is 1 start (should be zero). Be prepared to not be valued by some of them. Despite some unprofessional front desk members, the clinic services is really good if you can survive them.

Very friendly, called to make sure my cats were feeling better with the medication and check in.

Food was good and prompt delivery. I just sid not like the pesto sauce it kind 9f made the pizza soggy. I will know better next time.

Why is it when your dog gets an eye infection and requires the exact same medicine that’s prescribed for people pays $50 instead of $24? Just curious. I called Shoppers for the exact same medicine - Brand name, solution percentage, ML bottle, and chemical composite. Very disappointed that you feel the need to gouge your clients on medicine. And we wonder why people don't own pets.

The place is very nice. The employees are amazing. My dog was attended by dr. Murray, and he was amazing. I recommend the place.

They genuinely care for animals and their approach is very sensitive to the situation. Dr Sarah has good energy and it really does go a long way when you're nervous about the outcome. I live across the street from an animal hospital but I travel to this one because I want to know that my cat will be genuinely cared for. 5 stars!

I love the staff, they are extremely kind and thoughtful. They have gone above and beyond for my family and our beloved dog.

This emergency veterinarian has saved so many of my animals. I owe them so much. Dr. Mason is absolutely amazing and I am so grateful for his support and genuine love of animals. When he had to deliver bad news to me you could see how sympathetic he is. Great staff as well. Yes you have to wait a lot of the time but it’s just like any hospital. Emergencies are taken in first.

I have been going to this clinic since 2013. I drive over an hour each way because they are the best. They truly care about your pets and you. They are always willing to answer and questions or concerns.

Horrible front desk staff. Pushy doctor.think he owns the place.
Will make up stuff to increase your bill. The best interest of your pet is not their concern.it's their bottom line

Dr. Keeley is truly gifted with feline care. She's extended the lives of my senior cats numerous times and I fully trust her opinions and suggestions for my cats health and well being. I couldn't recommend her enough!

Great vet, very caring, reasonable and friendly! I cannot recommend Dr. Kleinberg enough - he goes above and beyond by following up with phone calls in between appointments to see how our pet is doing with treatment or symptoms and seems to genuinely care. When I told him my cat he had treated passed away, VCA sent me a lovely postcard telling me that a donation was made in her memory towards a charity to further veterinarian medicine

These people are amazing. They took my dog in an emergency and it was near closing and they still fixed her up instead of sending us to the emergency clinic. I know it took some work on their part and I was a mess and they still treated me with dignity and respect. This was over a month ago and my dog healed perfectly and I owe it all to Mount Pleasant. I wouldn't consider going to another vet. Thank you.

A great staff who really care about our pets. They give very well explained care options and suggestions for raising healthy pets. They also carry a very good selection of pet products that are of high quality. They also have customer parking behind the building.

I am so grateful for this clinic. Every single member of the staff is so friendly and my dog receives excellent care from all the doctors on staff. Highly recommend.
