Really enjoyed learning about glass fusion, learning about and working with the tools, and being allowed to make creative choices in this workshop. Layne is calm and generous and offers great advice to ensure each student learns and has a wonderful glass piece to take home.

I had a delightful afternoon at the fused glass workshop. Layne is an excellent instructor and there was a great selection of glass. We had lots of time to "play" with our designs. The end result was amazing. When I showed friends my bowl, they thought it was a new purchase and were most impressed that I had actually made it.
I highly recommend this workshop as something for yourself or a gift for friends. A very fun activity to do together.

Spent an afternoon learning how to make a bowl. Layne and Terri are excellent teachers and made the whole process a super fun time! I didn't think that it would be an easy thing to do, but with their instruction and guidance, it was made a lot easier and the bowl I made is beautiful and will have pride of place in my home. They are also very easy going and fun to spend an afternoon with. I will be going back to make a garden ornament when that class is running!

My 5 year old granddaughter along with her parents and grandparents attended a glass class with Layne at the Verbeek Glass Studio recently. We all enjoyed ourselves immensely and were very proud of the pieces that we created. Layne was very thorough with his instructions and very helpful to all of us. I would recommend giving this glass art a try or at least visit his studio to view his work and maybe make a few purchases. His work is outstanding!

I attended the Christmas ornament making workshop a few weeks ago and loved it!

All the supplies are well organized and easy to access, and I also found the instructions and pace very accessible for my first time ever creating with glass. There’s plenty of examples and pre cut strands for those of us who are not that creative, as well as options to do your own things! Safety wasn’t a huge concern of mine, but if it was I would have been assured by Layne’s confidence (while being easy going) and safety instructions:).

I’m generally pretty shy when doing group activities, but I found the small group size and the space’s inviting nature to put me at ease. I also really appreciated Layne taking the time to help me perfect my vision haha. The individual attention, fun time AND pieces you get to make and take home made this experience really worthwhile for me and I’ll definitely attend more workshops soon!

Loved my third workshop at Vrrbeek Glass Studio! Layne is a fantastic teacher, who once again guided me through all the steps needed to create one of a kind fused glass creations. Can't wait for my next workshop!

Layne, the owner, is extremely well versed and experienced in glass. He has put a great deal of time, effort and thought into the creation and design of the classes that he has developed. The instruction provided breaks down the process in very simple terms so that absolutely anyone can create something that they love. The classes are a lot of fun and stress free.

The class I did was so great, and Layne was very informative. He walked me through step by step and provided a lot of good pointers. And awesome music! I will definitely sign up for another class. Thanks.

My partner treated me for my birthday to the bowl making class. We had such a great time and Layne runs such a beautiful, welcoming and creative studio. Your eyes will have a hard time focusing on your project with all of the beautiful pieces Layne has made surrounding you. Our small class was ideal. Layne is an excellent teacher and knows his craft. He imparts the skills he has acquired through the years in a very laid-back manner. He is skilled in so many ways. The facilities at Verbeek Glass Studio are second to none. I recommend taking any course or workshop from Layne if you have any interest in glass fusing or casting.

I had an amazing experience at this studio! Layne Verbeek is a very knowledgeable artist that helped me create my dream project in an outstanding manner, caring for every detail. He taught me a wealth of information about glass casting and mold making that will enable me to work great independently from here on. Also, the children courses that my kids attended were wonderful!

It was my first time experimenting and learning all about fused glass and Oh boy! Did I have a blast. A great way to learn the wonders of fused glass in a safe, creative environment. Layne is an amazing mentor. A patient soul full of new and interesting ideas. The studio itself is definitely worth a visit to see all the amazing art pieces on display. Be sure to ask him the story behind them.

After 2 years working in my home on my hobby I needed to be in the presence of other glassy people and decided on a week long stay in Toronto to visit Layne at Verbeek Glass! OMG! It was fun, fun, fun! I learned so much from Layne and his crew Sam and Terry. They encouraged and guided me every step of the way until I felt confident.
I learned new techniques for creating larger sculptures including cold working those pieces. I also started learning how to cast glass using clay and silica/plaster compound. Amazing! I feel rejuvenated and ready to work again! I loved the way I was accepted and included in new techniques from the moment I walked through the door. I am excited to try out my new skills and I will be back for sure! Sooner rather than later.

I attended a Pattern Mosaic Bowl workshop in May 2022 and really enjoyed it. Such a unique, creative and satisfying experience! Great for kids, families, and groups of friends. Verbeek Studio was also very accommodating when it came to scheduling a custom class date. I will definitely be coming back to make another piece, and will bring along any friends who are interested!

We had a great time with the kids at Verbeek Glass Studio. They had a blast making their pieces and cannot wait to see the finished works. Layne was absolutely awesome with the kids, super engaging. I would highly recommend the workshops and plan on coming back again!

3 years ago: Just took three kids and a mum to Verbeek Glass Studio for March break (2-hour session) and will be going back again to do more. With a shy 9-year-old girl, a precocious 11-year-old girl, a know-it-all 14-year-old boy and my friend (their mum) who said she had no interest in art and no talent, I wasn't sure what to expect. All 4 had the best time and we're ending up with two very distinctive suncatchers, a night-light and two highly personalized pocket vases - lovely colours and they look incredibly professional. The only danger.the kids all want more! I will be back for some of the more advanced courses. Highly recommend owner/artist Layne, who was able to get the necessary practical and safety information across - and keep the irrepressible teen focused, in a fun and amusing way. Hats off also to Sam who helped the shy girl. High Five!

My partner and I just went here for a class with Layne and what a wonderful experience it was! Layne was so welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable, teaching us about the science behind glass art and how he himself got into the medium. After teaching us about the tools we would use, he showed us some examples of finished works from his gift shop and we got to making our own projects. It was such a fun evening and we would love to go back. I would highly recommend to anyone who would like to try something different or create something new! My nephew and I attended a glass making workshop at Verbeek Glass Studio during March Break. We had a wonderful time with Layne and Terri, who showed us how to create art only using our imaginations and glass. Layne was so welcoming, very attentive and has the best glass jokes too! I highly recommend registering for a class.

My 5 year old and I visited Verbeek Glass studio for our first workshop over the March Break. First of all, immediately as we entered, the owner and all the people working in the studio greeted my son by name, asked him about himself and engaged with him right away. We learned all about the glass and what we would be doing in an age appropriate way. Another group nearby with older children were given a different workshop which was tailored to their ages and abilities. While we were working, staff helped us with whatever we needed to help our vision come to life. My son was completely engaged and able to complete his project with minimal assistance and no frustration because we had been set up to succeed so well. When we finished quickly (as 5 year olds do), the owner also invited us to make another piece. The people working here were so kind and generous while still giving us space to enjoy our family workshop together. We had such a good time and can’t wait to pick up our finished pieces! Highly recommend!

We had an amazing time at Layne’s glass workshop! Me and my sister made our first fused glass bowls and it was truly a unique experience. We love how our bowls came out and have already started thinking of our next pieces. The Christmas ornaments I bought as gifts somehow managed to make it on my tree.so be sure to get extras. Thank you for all the help and support. This is the second time my kids 4 and 8 have done project boxes. It's so great seeing how creative they can be with different colors of glass. We may have had a little accident and cracked a sun catcher. There calmness and suggestions on how to fix really saved the day. Can't wait to do a project in person.

I have been to Verbeek Glass Studio a few times. And each time was fabulous! I was hooked after the first time. Layne is very knowledgeable and helpful with such creative ideas. It is so exciting to try something new and create something you can use or give to friends. My friends loved their ornaments.

I love this studio! Layne is a wonderful guide to creation and is a lot of fun. The options for what you can design are endless, but there are also lots of examples to follow if you are running short on ideas. I’ve taken a few classes so far and I find it really relaxing and satisfying. It’s a great way to get a few friends together, create something for yourself or a gift for others. Also suitable for younger humans as well with easier projects that are focused on having fun with pre-cut colours. This has become a regular outing for me and a few of my friends! Also a good way to support a local artist!

I first visited Verbeek Glass Studio a year ago with a group of friends as a girls night out activity and have been back a number of times since. There’s something really therapeutic about cracking glass and you get to make unique pieces of art while you’re at it. Layne is so knowledgeable, fun and super talented. You can spend hours at his studio and not even realize how fast time went by. I highly recommended signing up for a glass class.

Had a fantastic time visiting Verbeek Glass Studio. I went with a friend for my birthday and we did a private workshop. Owner/artist Layne was super friendly, and we had such fun creating our masterpieces. Move over paint night, this was such a joyful experience! Highly recommend!

With out-of-town guests visiting on a rainy day in early October, we landed on Verbeek Glass as a hands-on activity for 2 men and 2 women. Layne was terrific. He was very responsive to our request and led us through a 3-hour workshop which everyone enjoyed. Returning to pick up the fired pieces a week later was the icing on the cake. Thanks, Layne!

Layne is excellent and so is his studio. I went to one workshop with 4 friends, and we had a super good time and loved the end product! I went again with another friend, same result. I’ve already booked more sessions, taking more people. I can’t recommend the experience highly enough.

Layne is a very talented artist and extraordinarily creative. He teaches beginners and experienced students alike and always has ideas to help create pieces to be proud of. The studio offers many fun classes using a variety of glass and tools including coldworking tools to professionally finish the fused pieces. A must!

Great experience! I’ve taken workshops at the glass studio 3 times and I’ve also gone a couple times to shop for gifts at their shop. Very convenient location too. Always unique things to buy! Friends who I’ve brought for workshops have also gone back. Learning to cut glass isn’t what I thought it would be. You’ll find you’re comfortable with it in less than 1/2 hour. The team are wonderful, kind and very helpful with people like me who thought they had no creativity. Turns out I do! I’ll go back again for sure!

I recently commissioned Layne to make 20 Hello Kitty magnets for a birthday party. They turned out better than I could have imagined…. So amazing! Needless to say, I was very happy with the quality of the work. Each magnet was handmade, so value for money was excellent considering the fact that the magnets were so labor intensive.
It was great working with Layne. He’s a good communicator, responsive and of course very talented. I love going into his studio to browse and potentially buy many of his beautiful works of art. I am always blown away by what he can create out of glass.
Would also recommend one of his classes. Layne is an excellent teacher…his classes are fun, they allow your creative juices to flow and the best part is that you get to take home a creation of your own!

My girls (9 and 11 years old) attended a glass making workshop at Layne's studio last year and had an amazing time. Their glass dishes turned out beautifully, and Layne was super patient and engaging. They learned a lot, and can't wait to do another workshop once the studio reopens!
