I waited 5 months for an occupational therapist to come in. Still waiting for a physiotherapist that never materialized. The OT who came in to assess my apartment for equipment was very ableist, made several comments about disabled people's needs and abilities (according to him ALL disabled people who are not bedridden are capable of preparing their own meals and do not need assistance). He didn't give me any suggestions for the equipment I need installed and actually argued against the things I brought up. Instead of writing a letter to the building about installing equipment, he sent them something saying that I needed help fundraising instead. He did not give me a copy of any letter sent on my behalf and he is ghosting the building manager. I wrote an email but have nowhere to send it. He also wrote my name down wrong, first and last. His initials are JR.

UPDATE: Took me months, but I phoned the number/extension VHA replied with on my review and left a detailed message. I received a call from the OT within ~an hour~ and he booked a second appointment to come in next week for a new assessment and to do the job done properly. I'm grateful VHA sorted it so quickly; I have been in my apartment for a year without any modifications and the building was using the OT as a convenient excuse. Peace. [the VHA office handled my complaint efficiently and quickly, my gripe is with the specific OT]

UPDATE: OT came back for a new assessment. He commented while in my apartment that it was "fairly" accessible in spite of ~everything~ being at standing height, commented that accessible apartments were really just about the bathroom, told me that MY range of motion was from HIS shoulder height on down, in spite of the fact I am not at standing height. When I told him (for the umpteenth time) I couldn't reach, he stood in front of my upper kitchen cabinets and reached as high as he could - over HIS head - and then asked how close I could get to that.again after telling him I couldn't reach any of them and that I wasn't at standing height.

When I reiterated that I needed deep pull out drawers in place of the shelving so I could access the lower cabinets, he tried talking me out of it because he said I would lose storage - when I already have NO accessible storage. He was completely unaware of the things that exist to make standing height closets accessible to those who are sitting in walkers/wheelchairs and although I asked him three or four times to help me figure out what equipment/modifications would help me for the things I'm currently unable to do, he had no suggestions - which is his job. When I told him some of the things available to make closets accessible, he was surprised.

After the first visit, he didn't return my building's calls and he left me no contact info. This time he left me his number and email (he said it was not a work phone and not to call him) and he has not responded to my email. Because of how badly he screwed up last time, he said I could send him a message with anything I forgot to discuss and that he would show me a copy of the letters this time and he's not doing that. I honestly don't understand why my doctor can't fill out the letters since he obviously has no idea how to do his job.

He said all the things he did while within line of sight of both my motorized chair and walker.

UPDATE (November 14,2023) : I've sent several emails since October 23rd about his 2nd visit, and he has not acknowledged any of them. He explicitly asked me to not call his phone. I have now lived in this apartment for 13 months and because of him, not a single modification has been installed. The only things accessible here are the wheel-in shower and lowered light switches & peep hole. But the shower only has one grab bar on the front wall and nothing on the side or the back so I risk falling and he's aware of this. This is unacceptable. He should not be doing this job. He's told me that he's been doing this for quite some time and is he is still not aware of existing modifications outside the bathroom.

My name is Fedor Fleshtor and as post-transplant patient recently tested positive to COVID I was scheduled to 3 cycles of IV infusion of remdisivir, October 31, November 1 and 2nd. As programmed I received the equipment at 8.30 this morning and was waiting for the nurse for the service. As the nurse did not appear till late in evening I called home Care Coordinator who let me know that the provider - VHA received the request for the service and acknowledged it. I contacted VHA by phone and was informed that my name is not in their system. The agent put me on hold pretending that I will be put through to coordinator. I stayed on line for 1 hour expecting someone to explain me what was going on. I am utterly disgusted with the poor service of VHA and lack of empathy. You are putting my health at risk and this is intolerable.

Caregivers don't show up when are supposed to or don't show up. Nurses do not report to the doctor that requested them, don't know who the doctor is. Serious problems in administration

After 6 months of Hospitalization, Rehabilitation and Convalescence – recovering at home - I learned about VHA Home HealthCare (VHA) by one of your remarkable employ; Heather Lyons. Heater is an excellent communicator, a professional oriented, with a friendly approach to people who need physical and emotional help. VHA should be proud of this young leady. She is the right person in the right institution! I Thank you verry much to both of you.

IT IS DIFFICULT TO ACCESS THIS SERVICE PROVIDER. EMAILS REQUIRE A CODE TO OPEN THEY PROVIDE BUT WILL NOT WORK ON MY COMPUTER. I CAN NOT READ THEIR EMAILS. WHEN THEY FINALLY RETURN PHONE CALLS THE PHONE ONLY RINGS 3 TIMES BEFORE IT GOES TO MESSAGE. THIS AGENCY IS SUPPOSED TO PROVIDE SERVICES FOR THOSE IN NEED BUT THE BARRIERS PUT IN PLACE WITH THEIR SYSTEM MAKE THIS AWKWARD TO MANAGE USING THIER SERVICES.

I was released from the hospital to VHA April 2021. I am a paraplegic with pressure wounds so I require a lot of assistance. I have had 5 primary PSWs, as well about a dozen who came when the primary unable to due vacations, illness etc.
I don't understand all the negative reviews. I am yet to meet a PSW who wasn't friendly, professional and caring in over 2 years with VHA.

Had a really good experience with Pravin the OT.he answered all my questions and was always readily to help. He was such a great help, I’m honestly so grateful for his help. Previous OT I had was no help at all compared to Pravin:)

Psw s are quick to say no to any requests made they should be more helpful especially doing housework and kitchen work and not be quick to say no to housework or kitchen work often clients and their families are overburdened with various caregiving tasks and having someone do simple household tasks is needed especially cooking is a problem for alot of clients making breakfast coffee, tea, omlette these simple things are often needed.

VHA is a great place to work. It is a supportive, positive environment where dedicated colleagues work together to try to make care better for everyone and where I have the opportunity to learn and grow. I feel fortunate to work at VHA.

If I could give zero stars I would. My father NEVER got the medication he was suppose to receive. He was suppose to receive IV treatment from this organization. However, they were never able to accommodate him so, I had to take him to the Emergency twice for the medication. I hope I never have to use their service again.

I am extremely grateful for the service VHA provides for my parents, however we have been having a recurring issue with one particular PSW who has been a no-show on a few occasions, and we contacted the supervisors by email but have not had a response from the supervisors.

WHAT's the Point in Writing A REVIEW! Here. THEY NEVER PUT A SOLUTION to the Complaints and OR Problems. All they Do is Reply to your Complaints to Appease you. GO COMPLAiN To Better Business Bureau Canada. Horrible people who just takes the money of Vulnerable People. Who tries to SCAM MONEY. By saying they provided service but in Truth the psw's Just Knocks on doors and claims nobody answered the door and PSW gets paid for her whole hour.

VHA home Healthcare is A SERViCE PROVIDER for Vulnerable, the sick, the handicapped who are already STRESSED! Well Good Luck having these people. Who Refuses to schedule in PSW's AND REFUSE TO PROViDE SERVICE TO YOU! Way to go being a Service Provider. I am so ANGRY.these people are JUST HORRIBLE.
