Victoria Hospital Emergency Department

Emergency nurses and doctors are overworked. The system is to blame, not the nurses or doctors. Having to spend a night in emergency, I watched at least 40 people rotate through. The nurses did their job throughout the night in an overcrowded space. Yes I had to wait. I watched the nurses being yelled at and complaints about the wait for an X-ray when a car accident came in. - serious goes first. When getting to a room, the nurses on floor D6 were amazing. Marla and Moe were super sweet. Christa took a detailed report to give to the doctor. Littin, a psw, brought water to the patients. Barry and Adam came in to check on their patient and their comfort. Ida, the cleaner, worked hard disinfecting areas. My experience was good.

Their care service they provide for their patients is very bad. The staff, and nurses do their job like it's no big deal.lots of changes have been made all over the Emergency department. Half the pods are now beds, and the other half is chairs.they require the patients to sit in the chairs (until they get seen by a doctor on a bed) then back to the chairs again for the next patients that come in. They only have two doctors for each Pod, and more nurses, and colleagues. Which is terrible. All the Rooms have been changed, and have been moved to different locations of the Emergency department. I was definitely not happy after leaving having to be there for 15+ hours.they decided to do this new change to decrease the wait time for the patients that come into the hospital. But they're just making it worse. I definitely would not recommend going to Victoria Hospital Emerge to see a doctor.

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the incredible doctors Dr. She (Emergency Doctor) Dr. Alicia andDr Noel andnurses, and staff who provided outstanding care at the close of 2023. Despite the wait, their level of attention surpassed my expectations. Their sense of urgency and compassionate approach made me feel truly valued, and their equal care for everyone, along with detailed explanations, was truly remarkable. Even amidst their busy schedules, they consistently upheld these qualities. Hats off to them for consistently delivering exceptional care.

The RN's are very rude and islamophobic. I'm not going to write all the details, but I just want other visible muslims to be extra cautious when getting emergency care here! Please make sure to go the extra step in making sure that your phone is always pointed down, because I felt as if the nurses and staff here are looking for reasons to get security involved.

9 hr waiting time to see a doctor stupid health system free means nothing in canada wasting 10 hrs is not free health system

Before I went to the hospital I checked waiting time 3.75hr. I arrived 3: 30pm and it’s 4: 00am. Folks come die here in the emergency room

Ridiculous Hospital. Rude inconsiderate nurses/staff… literally witnessed the most appalling treatment of human beings. From refusing to help someone get in a wheelchair, to rudely yelling at a guy for throwing up who was concussed and not fully coherent. These are the people TEACHING Students!? Please go elsewhere! They would rather let you die… literally. Just sat behind the counter talking and laughing, come one GROW up.

I was in lots this month getting help and everything i was in the nurses and doctors were talking about banging random guys and partying even the doctor was in on it, then talking about vacation they were on its so gross lately these people dont even want to help people they do it for a pay check and thats it, i even recorded the doctor on my cell phone i know im not aloud but i had to so i could post to social media she was saying she had intercourse with a stranger and she wanted to keep doing that, i was in shock so the security made me delete it as if i had to hide the reality of the gross health care system.someone needs to fire and re hire new staff or hire the doctors form africa and accept there doctors degree in canada.these kids dont want to help us they want the money

I wish there was an option to give a zero star. This is the place to come to die of pain, get lousy condescending treatment and wait for nurses to finish chatting and taking breaks before you can finally to see someone, only to wait several more hours to see a doctor.

I have mild heart attack got myself to the emergency room after registering setting the waiting room then and your security guard came asked me to leave I told security guard I pay see wait to see a doctor having a mild heart attack security guard the back you are nothing more than a homeless person looking I got up I then I passed out then I came to er room I'm excited cause of the mild attack was stress-related. I gave me some medication to take I took some in the emergency room. They gave me a prescription did tell dr.awful security guard went to hospital administration made a complained. Nasty security guard fired job

If I could give this a -13 I would horrible staff came in for a stab would to the palm refused to give me meds or ice seems like the ladies chatting is more important than there job

The staff are talking about their intimate personal.bedroom lives in the hallways out loud.the doctors here aren't worthy of the name.

If canadian health care was rated based on this emergency departments conduct it would be rated worse than most third world countries

MEDICAL MALPRACTICE. I was told by my optometrist that I had signs of pressure in my head, causing my optic nerves to move.or something.he told me it was serious and to get it checked out to rule out signs of stroke or tumor.

Well, I spent 11hours in emergency and finally got to see a doctor. I told him I had concerns about CT and the dye due to previous bad reactions to medications, well he didn't answer any questions, he didn't even examine me or tell me if my symptoms were worthy of the risk or not, he essentially told me "good luck then" and discharged me.

I absolutely would have done a CT, I just wanted some assurances that the procedure was necessary. I suffer from anxiety in hospitals and have had panic attacks over it in the past after almost dying from covid, so sitting in emergency for 11 hours was quite excruciating for me.

And now I don't know if I need to get a follow up? He left me with ZERO information, he literally say me for 15 or 20 seconds and that was it.

I guess I'll just hope it's nothing serious and ignore it? What insanity

I wouldn't go here unless I had no other choice, the doctors here don't seem to care one bit about their patients. They should really be investigated

Worst experience ever in a hospital. Rude staff at the entrance, they need to understand that a person is in tremendous pain that is why is coming to emergency. There is no need to be rude. Also the diagnosis from doctor was incorrect.

Worst experience of any hospital in my lifetime. The doctors and staff here don't care about their patients, it's abysmal.

Worst emergency hospital in town very long waiting. I don't think it's called emergency.

Went in today told the male triage nurse when he asked what brought me here I told him very high BP and extreme insomnia. He took my pressure and said yes it's high 204/105 anything else. I said no. He said "THATS IT" Time to weed this place out if burnt out staff!
I'd give this hole a Zero rating but unfortunately you can't. Will go to a veterinarian before I go back here again.

The most weird place to get your treatment. Staff is arrogant and unprofessional, don’t care how much sick you/ your family is, don’t follow the hirarchy of needs. Longest waiting hours in emergency. Don’t go to this hospital.

Unbelievable how carless were all the stuff who works there with no humanity towards people who were having pain and crying in the waiting room. They will let you to wait in your pain for more than 9 hours because they are taking care for those who come in ambulance first and then if they got time they will come and see you after 12 hours of waiting!

Our hospital knows, which is the top doctors who operate the hospital, they can see and hear the nurse's and doctors' behaviour and yet they do nothing, I feel they are the ones how is guiding them to behave that way otherwise, this is a place of their employment, they will be conscious to lose their job if the management sees their racial issues, bad mood, anger issues, short temper, language behaviour, overwhelmed with work. In our country Canada we teach Customer Service as a priority in every work environment, that is how we reached to be a top nation human beings, without each other we can not be complete, my message is to the big bosses, come down from your seats and fix your hospital and instead of telling us to report to customer relation, you the big bosses walk to the customer relation room and order them to teach your staff (Customer Service).

Went there several times since June this year, with my family members and my own issue today. Unfortunately, each time a very long wait, and a horrible and dirty waiting room. Once inside however absolutely wonderful, dedicated staff, all of them and I am not saying this to offer fake praises, no one in my family works there. I am just grateful for the care we have received. Thank you!

I actually had a nurse tell me she wouldn't help me get out of my chair after having to crawl across the parking lot because my back was so messed up.

They always says IT very short stufff but they Can admit patient do they? I’ve saw a lot OF room that is empty enought to treat all OF us. Maybe the system doesnt work but people need helps right there are Even worst time that this!

I understand the hospital has emergency priorities, but 2 hours wait for a check up and severe pain in the ankle is too long. I am very disappointed with the services provided not just the waiting thing but also they don't give estimated time for how long I have to wait to get the checkup done. This is ridiculous. Waiting since 12pm and it's 3pm now and still no progress.

One of the emergency doctors tells me that she does not know what kind of allergy this is. It's like skin burns. I don't know how they graduated from the University.

I called ahead to find out how busy the waiting area was and the receptionist basically told me to F-off, that they won't tell you how busy it is or even how many people are in the waiting area. Useless receptionist.

Came on a Saturday night because I began to experience chest pains, difficulty breathing, and a bad cough. To rule out covid, I conducted a rapid test before arriving and it was negative. Nurses and reception staff were friendly. Left unsatisfied with doctors diagnosis telling me there’s nothing wrong but for me to “suck it up. ” I am still having difficulty breathing and chest pain but there is “not much he can do. ”Will be going to my family doctor to run a better analysis and hoping he will actually use a stethoscope to check my breathing.

I would rate lower if i could, I came here at 12: 30am, it is now 9: 30am i just got moved to the THIRD waiting room and have been told it will be quite a bit longer again. This is ridiculous, to say the least many patients with problems similar to mine who came after were attended to before. When I asked the receptionist she showed me sass saying we prioritize on life or death, when that clearly was not the case.the absolutely slowest workers you will ever see, they were chatting it up and playing games while they had so many patients waiting for their guidance. The receptionists show A LOT of attitude to the patients! Never coming back, but I will say the actual doctors are friendly.but you wont get to see them for about 10 hours:)

I never see unprofessional staff in my whole life.the nurses there acting like thry are doctors.the waiting time for emergency patients is 10 hrs. I will suggest go to other nearby hospital like st thomas or Woodstock.coming to this hospital is just wast of time and wast of health.

The nurses are terrible in Emergency! They are very unprofessional and very rude. I have a serious procedure done the day before. My daughter called the ambulance that night at 1am I was vomiting and had terrible stomach pains also had a fever. They left me for hours with no pain medication after telling them my pain was 10/10! It’s unbelievable how these nurses judge before actually doing their job they are supposed to make you comfortable not keep you in pain. This is the whole reason you come to the hospital for a service. Unbelievable! I was so fed up I asked them to print my release papers up and left. Why am I there if there not gonna help me! I was treated very unfair. I will be making a call to a Manager as well.

Would give zero stars if I could. My wife who suffers from hypertension was in here with extremely high blood pressure and was in crisis. She had to have blood tests done as well as an EKG.

The doctor was incredibly unprofessional. A he did was give medicine for a headache, and refused to share results of her blood tests or recommendations. He berated her for not having a family doctor, and at one point used the phrase "and what do you expect me to do".
Completely unacceptable. Does the hippocratic oath mean nothing? This feels like borderline malpractice, and I am considering submitting a complaint to the ministry of health about the overall experience here.

Worst Service. Its so called emergency but you have to wait for 3-4 hours just to see the doctor.
