I ordered chicken shawarma poutine and it was so delicious! The customer service was great too. The people who took my order and cashed me out were very kind and helpful. 10/10 recommend!
Incredibly rude staff for no reason. They look annoyed the second you walk up and treat you like you’re bothering them. Based on all the reviews this seems like the norm. Not sure why this type of behaviour is not addressed by the owner. Will not come back.
I came here looking for a healthy and tasty meal and got exactly that!
The chicken shawarma was very tasty but the main person serving kinda rushed the order. He asked me what type of rice I wanted and I asked him what options they had but he just served both lol. It was tasty so not complaining, also can't blame him since the mall is too noisy and we couldn't hear each other properly.
Horrible place, ordered kebab and it was a piece of trash, burnt kebab, tasteless , raw and seemed to be cooked many days ago. Please avoid getting food from here because you will regret it
Who gives poutine with no sauce on it. Went back and they poured left over sauce from a container. Then I realized they didn’t even put any pickles in it either. Overall, food didn’t taste good and sauce was suspect.
The beef and chicken is so dry. Even with all the sauce they put on it doesn’t take good at all. I think the worst shawarma I have ever had. Will not go back. Not sure if it’s an off day but the chicken and beef on the spit look old and dry. I regret getting it
For the past several years I have frequently been to Villa Madina at the Eaton's Center and it has always been a positive experience for me. The team, including Marwan and Aman, have always been kind and pleasant towards me and the food and service have been great!
It was horrible! They served us poutine with raw fries and smelly chicken and beef. The cheese curds were frozen and the portion was sooo small. The whole box was filled with raw fries and less protein! I went back and asked the owner to change it. He did and i asked for rice instead! And he acted like it was my fault and he wanted me to eat the raw fries and disgusting meat that they have. I am going to send food safety inspectors! Both my teenage brothers got sick. Guys do not eat here!
They claim to serve Shawarma, while in fact, their plate is either salad or rice with a small amount of Shawarma (less than 10% of plate). They are not generous at all.
Worst customer service ever! The brown girl with a hat and glasses was rude. Didn’t ask for takeout or dine in once we told her dine in she dashed my food over the dine trays and didn’t even pack my friends food and threw the bag on the food. We were given no napkins either. The food was messy and overpriced. Some chicken was pink as well! Waste of money, go to a local mediterranean store!
Are you KIDDING ME! There was a minuscule amount of chicken in a large chicken shawarma. When I asked if that is normal they said that was the standard portion of chicken they used. Pathetic. M paying 13$ for bread and lettuce. Buyer Beware.
The food was delicious. I tried the chicken shawarma. The only thing I didn’t like is the extremely strong taster of garlic I had in my mouth after eating my meal. I also think the portion size could be bigger as the competitors.
2 stars - Eat at another Mediterranean restaurant, this one is not up to expectations. The beef shawarma is very chewy and disappointing. The yellow rice is oily greasy.
The chicken is good and flavor is good.
Overall price is slightly higher than the market range, But the overall VALUE quality for money you get is is bad.
Customer service is very bad. Zero Stars instead of 2 - at 9: 15 PM I witnessed that they treated the guest in front of me very bad, the clerk stated it was busy when there were No one inline but me and another person, they bluntly asked the customer in front to move, to take my order bypassing him because he has questions and want to learn more about the box Chawarma. That’s terrible for him. Very bad customer service and not polite. — Treat your customers with respect or close the business.
Recommendation to owner: Re-Train all staff from kitchen to Front of house. Work on ur beef quality.
The average 1.9 star review is consistent with my experience.
Garlic sauce is watery and not very flavourful. Potatoes are extremely bland. In twenty years of shawarma and probably fifty distinct restaurant locations, these were objectively the worst garlic sauce and potatoes I've ever had.
The chicken was okay.
First Villa Madina I've been to that I have rated less than four stars, although it has been a while since I went to one - maybe three years?
Would not go to this location again. Surprisingly bad.
I usually love Villa Madina but definitely not going to this location again. Mush smaller portion than usual, bad quality food and poor customer service.
Worst chicken shawarma ever! Just ruined our dinner. Everything almost uncooked and cold.not decent enough to give the wraps in a paper bag.just handed them to us. Horrible! KEEP OFF THIS PLACE!
I don’t usually post reviews but absolutely awful service. Learn how to wrap a falafel! The guy who was wrapping my falafel looked more interested in chatting with his female colleague and laughing. I would give negative stars if I could. Hideous service and food quality. Avoid!
Picture says it all. Portion size is also tiny (much smaller box than before) and they give you so little meat (and everything else). I used to love Madina, will not go back.
My kids went there, Guy was very unfriendly daughter asked for garlic sauce for her chicken shwarma, said no, not sure why he refused that. Other daughter asked for chicken shwarma poutine, got cold fries, no gravy, almost no chicken. They both asked me to review that place and let other people/kids to be aware about this location. Complete garbage location.
This place is okay. We ordered the shawarma poutine but it was very very soggy. The chicken wasn’t cooked properly and the fries were very very greasy. The prices were very expensive. There are other better Mediterranean cuisines outside the mall which are better and reasonable too.
Over priced for less than ordinary food. Got a chicken beef shawarma, the beef was burned and chicken tasted like it was left over from couple of days back! Really hope they will work on improving the quality of food being served
I gave 4 starts as the food was good, but my last experience on monday 02 August 2021 was not that good, the taste was not that good as it used to be, the outside paper was stuck on the burrito so much that i had to get rid of the bread itself and my friends also faced the same issue. Please take care of this, as people might eat that paper without noticing it.
Got beef shawarma here, wish I could give this place 0 stars: they put like 2-3 pieces of vegetables, beef is super dry, the way the worker wrapped it completely destroyed the pita, tearing it into several pieces. Overall, it tasted very sour. My girlfriend got a shawarma plate and it tasted really dry as well. The staff is kinda rude. The worst villa Madina location I've been to and the worst shawarma I've ever eaten. Save yourself some money and spend it elsewhere
The food is good, but the workers don't understand or know their own menu. The shawarma plates at the top of the board specify that they include potatoes. I like to order the "beef and 2 falafel" plate. I've been twice in the past week and a half, with both orders getting messed up.
The first time, they messed up my order even though I specified that I wanted the plate (the worker only gave me potatoes when I asked and only after I read to him at least 2 or 3 times on the menu where it said potatoes and he didn't do it until he looked at the menu himself, and also gave me chicken instead of beef).
Today, I specified the beef + 2 falafel plate. The worker asked if I knew it would be extra and I said that it was fine (it's one of the more expensive dishes). However, once I got to the cash there was an added charge for 1.39 specifying something that I couldn't understand from the screen. I asked why it was there and the cashier said it was extra because of taxes. I knew there would be taxes on top of the plate, however, this was a separate line charge. I asked why it was there because the plate price is all-inclusive for what I ordered. She went down and read the menu and said "Yes it's this price! " and I told her that I know, however there was still an extra charge on the screen on top of the price she told me. She then talked to her coworker in another language and did end up removing the extra charge.
I don't know if I'll return. It's annoying and a bit stressful trying to order something on their menu that staff don't seem to know exists (even though it is clear in the writing on the menu what I am ordering). It makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong even though I'm ordering a dish that's listed on the menu.
Every time I get a shawarma sandwich, whether beef or chicken, this is what I get (view attached photo).
I pay for a supersized chicken shawarma sandwich and I get a vegetarian shawarma with chicken flavour. An absolute waste of money and time.
I generally buy this as a treat for my family so we split the supersize sandwiches in half and every time this is what we get.
I figured I'd do something about it and warn others than sit around being frustrated at this petty food fraud. I just won't ever go back there again.
The one in Scarborough Town Centre has smiliar issues-while not ALL the time-most of the time, it's also a meat flavoured vegetarian shawarma. I wouldn't waste my money in Villa Madina anymore.
I am switching my review from 5 star to 1 star. Recently their customer service is terrible. Portion size is extremely small and it is not worth the pricetag they put. The give extremely small amount of food, little love for their customers and it is sad to see my 5 star change so vastly to 1 star. Sorry villa madina. I wont be coming back again.
My son and I went there for lunch today and experienced the worst customer service ever. Not only was the food not very good at this location but I felt there was a bit of discrimination when being served. Dont recommend anyone to eat there
The Falafel Story. Sad. We visited the Eaton Center Food Court today, for some shopping and a bite. Chose Villa Madina and ordered the Felafel sandwich. 3 falafel balls and the the usual garnishing and add ons. Some onions too. Let's make this simple. The Felafel was bland, cold (yes the girl put it on the hot griddle for a minute) and just plain tasteless. Looks like the spices just took the day off today. My son went to McDonalds instead and we ended up eating his fries instead-poor boy! May I suggest whoever owns this franchise or outlet, do visit this place incognito and sample the fare. It could use some serious improvement.
I came here as the mall was about to close and the person behind the counter was on his cell the whole time. I ordered a falafel sandwich (they have a regular and super sandwich). I just said falafel sandwich, did not ask for the super. He never asked me to clarify. When I went to pay it was for the large size so I asked and the cashier informed it is as the large, even tho I didn't ask for this size. I'm pretty sure it was near the end of the night so they wanted to get rid of their cooked food for the night. I've also had villa Madina in other food courts and the size I got was not different from the last times I ordered regular. I just didn't like how they assumed I ordered the large. Either that or they just wanted to charge me more. Make sure you specify what size you want.
Told them them I didn’t like cilantro. They gave me potatoes and falafel and salad stuff. Then the cook said there’s cilantro on the potatoes and falafel. Not the meal I was looking for. Charged me the same price. I’d give 1 star but the tabouli was good. Hummus so so. They were nice however. 2 and a half stars.
The amount of food they give you is so insignificant that you would be actually better off putting the money you give them on fire than eating here. So. Stupid. The worst Villa Madina of the city. AVOID!
I normally like villa Meduna but this place was terrible. The food quality is bad, unfresh and the quality of rice seems to be very bad. I would not recommend anyone to this place.
I have ordered a shawarma and the pita quality was very bad the bread cracks open and it's not even fresh to begin with. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Period.
It is salt some food added to it! Why do you use this much salt? I always finish my food but I couldn't do it for this garbage! It is also full of oil! If you eat it two times, you will die!
I usually eat at Villa Madina at different locations due to it being a halal option and am always happy with the food and service. This location however the shawarma was dry and inedible and the service was atrocious. The owner actually ended up yelling at me in front a full line of people because apparently no villa madina will cut a shawarma in half for your kids to be able to share and if you want to you just use a blunt butter knife yourself. I told him every other villa madina does this for me and he basically told me I was lying. Incredibly rude man who scared my kids. Will never go to this location again.
Racist I’ve never experienced this kind of naff staff. Would never visit again.ever. Why wouId I need to hear a racism thing whilst having dinner I paid for.
Usually love Villa Medina. However, this location was terrible. The staff is preoccupied with conversations amongst themselves. It made for a very frustrating ordering experience as I had to repeat myself multiple times. The chicken was also a very small portion and not warm. Definitely would not recommend this location.
Wish I could give them 0 stars. My shawarma was basically all veggies with barely any meat and sauce in it. I wish I had read the reviews before going to this location. Definitely not repeating. It's a shame because I actually like Villa Madina even though it's a bit overpriced for Shawarmas. The guy running the cashier seemed to be the owner and he was openly telling his staff to put less food in customers plates while yelling and berating them, once again, in front of the customers. I would not eat here again even if they paid me to. The most important thing in franchise businesses are quality and customer service, neither of which this place has.
Villa Madina is one of my favourite lunch stop at most malls. *BEWARE OF THIS LOCATION* The shawarma was cold, the portion size was significantly smaller than other Villa Madina restaurants, and the staff was extremely rude. As I sat eating my small cold meal, I watched staff picking and eating straight from the food line when they didn’t have any customers-gross!
Straight up never get a meal here, let the other reviews here speak for themselves. I'd love to support a halal place. But this place sucks; Overpriced, Bland slapped together shawarmas, Rude, you name it. Other villa madinas are better. Definitly my harshest review of any place. Rude staff. Guy looks like at me like I've committed murder for asking for a plastic bag for what was already overpriced bland shawarma that's I wanted to go.
This one wide guy at the cash looks at you like your the reason his life sucks, must hate his job cause he looks miserable. One time the same guy was at cash and the machine wasn't displaying the right price (it just wasn't working that day which is ok, things happen) and I asked him why my one shawarma costed 15$. He asked me if I could count and insinuated that I was on weed (it happened to be 4/20 that day). They probably make a lot here yet I've heard they hire people *under the table*. Can't support such a terrible place. So many better options in the Eaton center. If you want a shawarma that tastes better for 5$ walk through Dundas station into 10 Dundas Sq and get one at Zeytonas, halal and they are much better, and you won't support this pathetic place.
Portion: Unlike other reviews here, I have never experienced a "small" portion from here. Note that I have never order a wrap/sandwich, and just order the plates. Portion of a plate is massive, and almost too much for one person.
Taste: Again, unlike other reviews here, I have also never had any bland food from here. I've tried all of their plates, with all fixings, and two salads. While the quality of meat isn't where other Shawarma places may be, it's definitely on par / above average when compared to other mall food court food.
Price: Slightly overpriced; however, it is in a mall foodcourt, downtown Toronto after all. I wouldn't expect it to be good value per dollar. Let's be real, everything here is overpriced.
Customer Service: Some of the staff is rude. Actually, most of the staff is rude. It's actually surprising just how rude most of them are. They do warm up to you if you visit them a few times and learn how they take orders so that it goes by quick, but it's not acceptable. I don't expect smiley and warm-tend-to-my-every-need service from a food court restaurant, but they almost make you want to walk away. If you're thinking of going here for lunch, do yourself a favour and watch the Seinfeld episode with the soup Nazi before hand.
Rude and pushy staff. Overpriced and less portion was served. Pita bread that comes with the meal I bought based on the menu posted, was not offered, unless asked. I've been given a small portion, and observed that they give more portion to selected customers. I should have read reviews first since it's my first time to buy and try from this Villa Madina. Definitely not coming back in this location. Very bad customer service and salty food.
The lady serving the salad was rude and impatient. She told me in a snarky voice what order I should pick the salad in and proceeded to bang the tongs on the counter. I got pressured into buying more beef skewers but only to discover they were rubbery in texture and old. I could not finish the food as it was awful. I should have read the reviews prior to visiting.
The beef and chicken was too salty and spicy. I do not understand why they do not put in the menu at least the sign of red pepper for people to know their food is that spicy. Not recommended at all!
By far the worst Villa Madina. One of the female associates asked me if I wanted a combo and when I said no the male associate (that appeared to be the manager) began yelling at her in a different language. She then looked at me and said "you WILL get a combo". When I got to the cash register, the same male associate told the member at the machine to charge me for a combo anyways. When I said no I do not want a combo he said "fine, then I will just charge you more" and then began yelling another associate in another language again. I said "never mind I don't want it anymore" and he called me a B***h. I recommend that nobody eat here. It makes sense why they never seem busy.
Incredibly high prices for tiny servings. I ordered chicken and beef plate and received 1-2 small pieces of meat. Paid $15 (with a bottle of water) and left hungry. After visiting many other Villa Madina locations, this location is not what I expected from this franchise. This location is ruining the franchise's name, in the heart of downtown, with the highest amount of potential future customers. Management needs to get their act together and reconsider this location and the impact it has on the entire franchise.
