I brought my dog here a couple of times because the location is convenient to my home. The receptionist is very nice and helpful. I cant say the same for the vet. I felt rushed. Or rather, that Dr Toole was in a rush. Perhaps they overbook appointments and fall behind. In any case, this is not a vet who gives you the time a $125 examination fee merits and I found Dr Toole dismissive and patronizing. Unable to give me a diagnosis for my dog's hind quarter pain and limp, despite two appointments and various tests, I just received $400 bills for the visits. He prescribed antibiotics that the dog "may" need, but he wasn't sure as couldn't say what the problem was. He insisted I purchase overpriced meds ($60 / a script x 2) there, instead of giving me the prescriptions to take to a pharmacy where they'd cost 1/3 of that. When I declined, given my bills and lack of diagnosis, Toole engaged in a long explanation of how I couldn't possibly get these medications at a pharmacy. I insisted. I took the scripts to the pharmacy and paid $20 ea. In the end, I started giving my 8 year old dog a cap of glucosamine in his food every morning and all his symptoms vanished. No pain. No limp. That was three years ago. Symptoms never returned. So my guess from that experience + some Google is that he'd developed arthritis in his hip. A very common ailment for an 8 year old dog—and not a possibility even mentioned by the aptly named Dr Toole.

The team at Village Gate are welcoming and caring. I feel confident my furry children are getting the best care they need!

The WORST vet I’ve ever been to. My dog was a patient for 2 years and every time we went we were heavily overcharged. I had an emergency with my dog not to long ago and they wanted to charge me $4000~ for an unnecessary surgery (as well as multiple exams) that would just bring pain to my dog.

Their handling of animals is very inadequate as they would make my dog cry and whimper every time they handled him. It wasn’t until I went to another vet to get a second opinion that I found out that they were mis-diagnosing my dog, just to get more money from us.

And to clarify, the new vet did not make my dog feel any pain whatsoever with the handling, and they only charged us $300 to solve the issue.
Overall Village Gate is an abusive, money driven establishment, with a huge lack of professionalism and overall human decency. Avoid this place if you want to spare your dog any pain, and if you wanna save a few extra thousand dollars

There is a serious lack of communication between the staff and the veterinarian which puts the welfare of the animals at risk.

The doctor prescribed medication for us and ordered us to give our puppy a certain amount of ml per day, among other instructions. Long story short, it turned out that instead of informing us that it was 1.5 ml a day, they wrote down in the instructions 20 ml by mistake. We went to complain in person to avoid this mistake with future patients. Unfortunately it was taken as an isolated incident that I don't consider it to be. The staff have absolutely no knowledge of the place, rules or instructions, and it seems as though they don't deliver the messages to the doctor. I also called in advance asking about the prices and the receptionist gave me the wrong information. At the time of having the consultation, it turned out to be double the price of what was initially stated to me over the phone. Overall my experience has not been a pleasant one. Terrible customer service.

If you brought your pet here, just go ahead and check with another doctor. Very likely you are the pet and they are trying to milk you.

I’m very disappointed and angry with this clinic.
First of all, Their service and meds are expensive, but their pet food has a really good price btw
Second of all, they almost made my cat a depressed vegetable! My cat had a urinary problem before, I noticed that she started spotting and took her to this clinic for a check up. I also mentioned, that I recently had a baby which might of cause a stress for my cat which triggered her spotting. Doctor prescribed meds (antidepressant and some urinary care pills) to my cat, assuming it will help. Using those meds made my cat a vegetable! I used them only for 2 days, she was just lying all the time, and would not move and once she fell in her own pee. I got so scared and told doctor what those meds did to my cat, he just said “ stop using them”!
When analysis came in, he called and said that he doesn’t see anything they are normal. Clinic did not accept the meds back I spent $60 for. Why couldn’t we wait for analysis to come in? ! It was my fault also, I should have told them to wait.

Dr. Toole and every member of the staff at VGAH cares for Zoe with tremendous patience, compassion, expertise, and flexibility. Zoe appears to be on the mend after a very intense week of concern and worry, and it is due to Dr. Toole’s and the staff’s care, kindness, and knowledge. Thank you so very much. It is hard to put the gratitude and relief into words.

Both vets are amazing and well prepared, willing to help if you call! The nurses are the best, always happy and they never forget a puppy face:)

A bit of a wait time after the initial appointment time, but I love the staffs friendly and positive attitude. They where gentle with my kitten.

Money grabbers: This vet was far more concerned with us paying their $500+ bill for blood and urine tests, rather than actually finding out what was ailing my pet. Had to take pet to another local vet to treat.
Colossal waste of money and time - avoid at all costs.

Ever since getting our puppy last summer, we have been bringing him to Village Gate Animal Hospital and we cannot say enough good things about them. It is apparent with any call or visit that every single one of the staff truly care about what they are doing. Pricing is always clearly broken down, and you never feel pressured into extra costs and procedures, just given all the information available to you. The vet comes out after every appointment to talk to you (since we cannot go inside due to COVID restrictions currently) and all the vet technicians are so kind and patient and answer every question we have, no matter how small or seemingly silly. Dr. Toole is a wonderful veterinarian and runs a top notch practice, and we can't imagine going anywhere else!

I called to speak about my kitten who is having chronic diarrhea. As I was explaining I was rudely interrupted and told we can't see you and to try another. But he should be seen as soon as possible. He may need dewormer. If I was allowed to finish it would of been explained the tests that have been completed and dewormer is not his issue.

Took my anxious dog to meet his new vet. I was met at the door and we talked about the dog and i felt reassured that my dog was in good hands. Afterwards, we talked about options. Thank you Village Gate team

Went there to remove some stitches from my dog.
ALthough they were not the ones stitching up my dog, they were veryhelpful, and they even refused to charge me since the removal took only a fewminutes.

My dog needed immediate medical care and after calling more than 8 animal hospitals, Village Gate Animal Hospital came to the rescue. Even though it was a busy day, the staff and the doctor were able to squeeze us in and provided us the treatment anybody deserves. Staff is amazing and the doctor is a true professional. This place has better price on SOS Royal Cannon cat food. Food for cat with special diet needs - urinary issues, or crystals.

Village Gate Animal hospital is a great place to take your pet. Excellent care, very customer focused, all about the pets. They always have time to answer questions and we are confident our Ziggy is being well-looked after. A+

Dr Jeff Toole is a really caring vet. He's owned the clinic for years and works 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You can tell Dr. Jeff really cares about animals and on more than one occaision he's called me back after-hours to have a phone consultation (in depth) about the animal. He's very technical and so you should be prepared with a pen and paper to jot down some terminology for your own research later. Prices are a little high but I have no problem at all paying for the excellent care. Would definitely recommend.

I cannot express how grateful I am to have found Dr. Toole. He took in my dog for flea treatment and boarding on Christmas Day after visiting a relatives house and finding those little buggers all over him. We called and within an hour we had an appointment.

And most recently he took in my poor sick cat during this covid pandemic and admitted her into surgery immediately. She started showing symptoms on Monday and by Friday she was already home and recovering.

All his staff are incredibly helpful as well.

Without even have had made a visit here, I'm completely amazed and appreciative of the staff here. I have never taken my dog Maggie Mae here but on a Sunday with most vets closed, I had to take my dog in with some concerns I had. Unfortunately they were not able to see her but the lady at the front desk while over the phone asked me describe the issues and she would relay them to the doctor. The doctor called me back shortly after and explained his thoughts from what I had described. He expressed his concern about a uterine infection and the urgency then gave me the numbers of emergency vets to call.
They made no profit from me and didn't even know me yet went above and beyond what they had to do to ensure my dog was being taken care of and kept healthy. I can't thank them enough and it speaks volumes of how much they truly care about animals. Incredible team of people here.

My pets always get amazing service at Village Gate Animal Hospital. Dr. Toole is very knowledgeable, friendly, and lays out costs upfront before doing anything.

Was open on a Saturday evening. So called them and the vet was fully booked, but recommended some place still open and took the time to talk me through some solutions for my golden doodle. Very good customer service!

I am only giving this review for the sake of innocent animals. I would not trust Dr. Toole with my beloved pet, ever. I can't understand the glowing reviews. He was about to stick a huge hyperdermic needle in my dog's jugular for vitamin K. I thought she might need it and just suggested it. Without hesitation he came at her throat with the needle, like in a trance. I jumped in to protect her and allowed him to give it orally. He was rough about it and she was unable to gulp at his forced pace. I paid for this, quite a lot, and got the hell out of there never to return. Just to respond to the suggestion that I am mistaken about Dr. Toole, mistaken identity is not the case.

I am so grateful to have found Dr Toole and his amazing staff. Since I brought my puppy for first visit, Dr was so nice and caring that I make them my preferred vet! I went off to other places ended up coming back.
Finally put my little fur baby down last night in a last minute call, they booked us in right away. I felt welcome (as always) and they embraced this difficult moment with me like a real family member

Remarkable customer service. They did not have time to see my pet today but very promptly got the doctor to speak with me on the phone to discuss my pets symptoms. He gave me some great recommendations and number and names of other places to try and call to get my pet seen today. What a kind and caring doctor. God bless you guys all over at this clinic. I would gladly bring any of my pets here and will recommend them to others as well!

Dr Toole really "gets" animals. I think he knows whats best and i trust him. He is very available and always willing to talk over the phone if you have questions or concerns about your pet!

Amazing doctor and staffs! I went there for an emergency. The doc was very calm and kind and other staffs were very friendly. The doctor gave my dog a treatment very patiently and explained every thing about the treatment. Thanks again!

Dr. Geoff Toole has been taking care of our dogs for more than a decade. A bit more expensive than our previous vet, but we'll worth it.
Parking is as bit tight sometimes.

We've been going see Dr. Toole for over a year now with our Havanese and completely satisfied. His knowledge, expertise, and professionalism are evidence of his practice. We are going to see him today and hope to continue

Dr. Toole works 365 days a year - if that's not dedication and sincere love for animals I don't know what is.

Friendly and efficient service. My cat doesn't even hate getting her vicious claws trimmed anymore.

I would give 1000 stars out of five if I could. Dr. Toole is the absolute best Vet we have ever dealt with. He really cares about animals and is the true essence of what a great Vet should be. He is expert, compassionate and understanding and is all about animal care and not the almighty dollar. He saved little Gracie's life and I am forever grateful. Great little vet clinic. Reasonably priced compared to the big fancy mid-town vets, and less waiting.
