I'm currently off work on WSIB for an injury due to being in a physically demanding job. I called this place last week to setup an meeting. I let the lady on the phone know what my situation was, that I was currently employed but off work due to an injury. She booked me an appointment for today. I drove 20 mins to get up here this morning for the meeting.

Upon going over the introductory phase of the meeting, I was asked what my situation was to which I explained. The councilor disappeared for 10 mins to return and tell me they couldn't help me because essentially they wouldn't get paid for seeing me because I didn't fit there criteria for government compensation. I explained that I told their receptionist my situation before booking the appointment and that I just needed a perspective from an Employment Counselor to help figure out some options and maybe a few pointers on my resume. Again she said she was sorry she couldn't help. I asked if there were other options but she said unless you are jobless there are basically none.

It's fine they made a mistake. Everyone makes mistakes. The fact is they wasted my time and fuel to get up there. They already had a slot booked for me. The decent/human thing to do would be to say "we made a mistake and that's on us. Since this time block is booked anyway, let's take the remaining amount of time to go over a few things that may help you. "

In our system, one basically has to be a burden on our financial support systems to get any type of community program support.

I really enjoy this workshop. There was a lot of information but well oganized. I definitely would get in touch with her for further advice.

On Saturday, November 30, I received a workshop that dealt with the preparation of a summary to apply to a workplace in Canada.
In could clearly understand the structure of the document and relevant points to consider for the emphasis of the position you want to obtain.
I feel very grateful for the workshop, the information provided by the facilitators is very valuable.

To quick to push you out. Did not help me to find a job. Thought I found my own and company backed out. Now left hanging with no job not that there was any help to begin with. I will not be returning here.

They can do their best to help you. However I think they would be helpful to those whose are less skilled and trying to find any kind of job, or are new to resume making and interviews. They offer good resources which will help you like computers, prints, quite environment and some job fairs. But, as a skilled individual I found it of little help. And not to forget, staff is very nice.

The presentation was fun, easy, to the point and rewarding. I learned a lot and I feel more confident to showcase my resume.

After being in an industrial accident and having to start a new career it was recommended i attend VPI solutions in Hamilton. I found the staff to be professional, courteous and very understanding. They have a Great wealth of knowledge and experience, their workshops were extremely helpful. The only thing that VPI working solution helped me with was all the things that I was not qualified for. (Which was every thing!).

Always will be important to have these workshops. These opportunities help to understand, maintain and update the ability to elaborate a really good resume that increases possibilities in getting a job.

I've attended many workshops at VPI Hamilton and have gotten a lot of each one. The latest being Customer Service Excellence and being a full day workshop you will learn a lot. The one thing I retained from this workshop is how to communicate effectively with customers/clients/or whoever you're dealing with. I would recommend all workshops.

VPI is the best place to go for interview question preparation, resumes and job search. VPI has excellent employees such as Lidia Siino and Laura Wells.

I have attended a number of vpi workshops over the past several months and have found them all to be comprehensive and relevant. Lidia Siino (who facilitates the workshops) is a fun and engaging presenter and she really knows her stuff. She takes the time to answer questions as you go along, while ensuring that all pertinent material is covered. If you're currently seeking employment, I would highly recommend accessing their services and attending their workshops. Even as an experienced job seeker/haver, the workshops have always provided a helpful refresher and I end up learning at least one new thing. Although I think I've taken all of the workshops relevant to my job search, I would definitely come back if new ones were added or I needed their services again in the future - without question.

I attended 2 workshops both were helpful for me. But noone helped me to edit my resume or find a job. I found the job by searching online.

If you are unemployed or underemployed you must come here. I was recently let go due to downsizing after working 8 and a half year. I was so confused as to how to look for work or what jobs I would be qualified for. Charlotte was amazing, so positive and helpful. Lidia's classes are the best. I am an Instructor at the International Beauty Institute (Hamilton Campus) and it was such a pleasure to have my class participate in VPI's Cover Letter & Resume Building Workshops. These workshops really assisted my students in creating/updating their resumes and cover letters as they are required to complete for a class assignment. Lidia was absolutely amazing and made the day fun and interactive for us! Answered any questions we had, and the booklets were extremely helpful and a wonderful treat to keep and explore. The workshops allowed them to have much insight on how to structure, customize, and word their papers, which has showed when marking their assignments as they are more elevated and professional. I highly recommend joining in on their business workshops as it was not only a delightful and positive experience, but also very informative and useful. I was very happy to walk through the doors. When the Manager said we can help you with your resume, I was relieved. Then she said we could help you even more with our staff to find you a job and to assist you with other things to look at and review. I came in on Monday for assistance with creating a new resume. Lidia sat down with me and not only helped me create a great new resume, she assisted me with an online application. Mayette was also helpful. By Thursday I got called for an interview. I am so grateful that I walked through the doors. I have a job interview next week. Thank you very much.

I attended the resume & cover letter workshops on Oct 15 2019; I found the programs very helpful as there were many pointers I didn't think about while working on my resume & cover letter. I enjoyed both sessions thoroughly; Lidia is not only professional and highly knowledgeable, she is also a very articulate and engaging. I liked best the moments where she used metaphors to bring across the point; for an afternoon brain like myself this is extremely helpful because she didn't sound dry rather interesting, this prevented me from falling asleep and missing important information. I was a past student at the International Beauty Institute and during their business program we had a seminar with Lidia from VPI who taught us how to prepare effective resumes and cover letters. Her tips were extremely helpful and she opened our eyes to some many helpful websites that were truly valuable in assisting in creating the best resume inorder to stay competitive. Needless to say, her tips helped me land the position as the school's newest business instructor and I will be sending all of my students her way.

I attended the Customer Service workshop. It was awesome! The Customer service class has been my favourite so far. The best part was the DISC information we learned and how it relates to customers.it was fun and helping to me and I will attend different workshops in the future. I would definitely recommend VPI to others.

I recently attended the Customer Service Excellence program at VPI run by Lidia. Never has a learning seminar been so engaging. Lidia is an excellent presenter. She knows how to teach the material in such a unique way. She is nothing short of amazing!

I know it has been a while but I do recall the workshops I attended at VPI were great confidence builders. They allowed those sharing the same type of joblessness experience to speak amongst ourselves and feel comfortable. At the same time preparing us for with proper interview skills, assessments on skills we possess/ improve those skills, kept our eyes open for going into different careers opportunities we may not have thought of and so much more!
My favourite workshop was Customer Service Excellence. It allowed me to realize that Customer Service was exactly where I wanted to be.
I can honestly say Lidia who ran the majority of the workshops was amazing! She provided so much information insight and was honest to us when you asked her questions, critiqued us with mock interviews, helped us improve by making ourselves more marketable to employers. I was able to set my LinkedIn account properly with her help!

I attended the Job Interviews workshop conducted by Lidia Siino on Thursday August 30 at VPI Upper James. She provided booklets and had overhead slides which were both very easy to follow. The content was topical, helpful and reassuring. It also helped to have other job seekers in the workshop. I felt very comfortable learning with Lidia and her ability to make everyone feel at ease. We had a larger group with every age and every type of job seeker present. I wish the session was longer because there was so much in depth information. I would very highly recommend this workshop to everyone. The other participants were talking about attending other workshops at VPI Hamilton because the content and facilitation was very, very good. I was more than pleasantly surprised by the content and the professional, open and easy learning environment. Lidia makes job search fun. Maybe that's what put us all at ease.
