Wallack's Art Supplies

I really wanted to like Wallacks, but I've mostly just been disappointed every time I've gone in looking for something. Went in looking for polymer clay and their section was abysmal, very few options and over 1/2 out of stock, and only carried small sizes. Came in another time looking for a particular solvent, and turns out the store doesn't carry it at all. Looked for some fine tipped acrylic markers and found the section difficult to navigate, most weren't clearly labelled as to what kind of marker they were and the sorting wasn't very intuitive either, couldn't find what I was looking for.

Each time, I ended up just having to go to a competitor after who actually had what I was looking for. Wanted to support a local business, but unfortunately wasn't really able to.

Not worth the drive or pay to park not even close to a hobby lobby store.person who said this has never visited a hobby lobby

I had a very good experience with a helpful staff person who was able to help me pick out some quality art supplies on a budget.

I'm beyond thrilled with the framing done for me at Wallacks. The woman who helped me had many thoughtful, worthwhile - and money saving (Hooray!) - suggestions. I'll definitely be back.

Great place to get art supplies, especially singular markers for very common marker packs, as well as pencils and brushes.

Friendly service, great selection, and you can get points if you shop there frequently. Staff members are very knowledgeable. The display is always very neat and organized.

This store is amazing! They carry so many different products that I could spend all day in this store browsing through everything they have. I’m always greeted with a friendly smile from the employees so I have nothing but positive things to say about my experiences at this store.

Well-stocked art supplies store with an excellent framing operation in the adjoining gallery. I took a large art print in for framing just before Xmas: the price quoted was fair, and Andre's work was excellent. It was even ready ahead of schedule! Will definitely use their services again.

I brought a portrait of my father that was framed at Wallack's many years ago to be repaired. I was pleased to hear that there would be no charge, since the work had originally been done there and the Wallack's stamp was on the back. The woman asked if I wanted to replace the mat since it was quite acidic but I decided to leave it. When I picked up the portrait and brought it home, I discovered a new mat had been added, at no charge, with a note saying "Merry Christmas! " Thank you to the kind staff at Wallack's. I will definitely pay it forward!

My first choice destination downtown Ottawa when it comes to house decoration, esp.framing. From stretchers to paint sprays and high-quality, colored cardboards for passe-par-touts, you can find here what you won't find at Home Depot or Michaels, for instance.

I am so impressed with the service I received with my first order from your establishment. I really didn’t expect it so quickly but I’m very glad that It arrived so fast. Your prices are better than any other supplier and your selection is A-1. I especially appreciate purchasing from a Canadian company. In the words of Arnold, “I’ll be back”.

A pretty well stocked art supply store. There was a lot of empty shelf space and some things were missing, maybe due to pandemic supply shortages? Very polite and helpful staff, went even as far as suggesting other places to check for an item that wasn't stocked. Thanks for a pleasant shopping experience.

Sorry for the very late response. I am sorry for the awful star review but when I had visited your store the service was lacking at the time. The prices where much higher then what I have seen elsewhere. And I found the store not very welcoming due to no viewing of the connecting gallery at the time: (. I gave the 2 stars for the Excellent selection of Canvas material and Paints. I will add a star to make it 3 stars:) for your inquiring of how to improve your business. Other improvements I think that could be improved on are your prices, I believe they are very High for similar products that are available at just about every other art supplier. And access to the gallery during operating hours:) I will take time to revisit the business and review this post after my visit.

More like 8 out of 5. Place is massive and a great selection of art tools and canvases and all sorts of artistic tools for your needs or to experiment with.

The staff so awesome and friendly. And If you have any questions they are more than happy to help you out. Plus they are extremely efficient and very knowledgeable. They shd be promoted to management cuz they're more than just excellent!

This store beats Michaels.hands down i love this store so much. I literally spend hours looking at all the inventory and i cant get enough! In my humble opinion, as long as the prices stay reasonable, this will be my only store to get anything art related. This business is my home and I say this with pride!

When living in Ottawa, I would frequently stop in to pick up supplies for school and the staff was always an excellent source of information. I recently tried to purchase some supplies from my local art store however they did not stock what I was looking for. I turned to Wallack's and found exactly what I was looking for. My order was shipped the next day. Once again the service was wonderful. Although I do try to support our local businesses, especially at this time, I was happy to order online and support Wallack's.

First time online purchaser at Wallack's. From the pricing, the variety of products, to receiving my purchases, it was such a good experience.

Wallacks delivered right to my door all the way to Nova Scotia, I have not found an art store here that carries the variety of canvas and supplies they do, since we moved back from Ontario. The customer service was exceptional and they answered all of my questions. They even told me that I would receive a call if there was an additional charge because the big canvas roll I ordered. They were true to their word and did not ship until I knew the exact cost. I appreciated that! Great business model and customer service! Thank you!

The folks at Wallacks have always been fantastic at taking my order, helping me with the details and then getting it shipped out to me in a very timely manner. I have specifically been ordering floating frames for my photographic prints. They always arrive in perfect condition and always just as ordered.

I am so lucky to have a shop like Wallack’s in my city. They have supplies my most favourite art supplies over the years and now as a small online shop owner having the things I need close by has been a saving grace. So often we look to online to fill our needs. During this ever changing time I rather make my purchases locally. I placed my order online yesterday it was ready by the end of the day. No online shop can match that turn around. The whole experience was lovely and the staff are very helpful. Shop local.

Went into Wallack's for my first time this week and had a great experience. Their store was well laid out, they had a great selection and some great products, and their staff were super friendly and assisted me in finding all the supplies I needed.

I ended up getting a Speedball Block Printing kit and some extra tools to help. They had lower-priced options for beginners like me that don't want to commit a lot of money until I try it, and had some better quality items for a little more money as well.

I'll definitely be back again!

I was not certain Wallack's had the brush I wanted, but they went and checked for me. Then everything was packed and shipped immediately

I placed an order for curbside pick up on Saturday evening for floating frames. Within hours on Sunday morning I received a note that it was ready for curb side pick up. Very happy with the speed and quality of service. Thanks Wallacks!

Followed Wallack's on instagram not too long ago and now Im obsessed with everything they have in their store. It is so easy to order online and they are so friendly when you pick up your order. Bought two canvases from here and they are such wonderful quality, I will be buying my art supplies from here from now on. I can't wait to visit in store when it reopens after the pandemic!

Recently ordered a product through their website that I couldn't find ANYWHERE else in Ontario. Very pleased with their product availability and their promptness in shipping!

I called the store on bank Street in Ottawa for a few items to ask if they were available! They were! I was asked to go online to order them-

I recently placed an order online with Wallack's. I had a number of questions re: product and availability and the staff was very professional, knowledgeable, and helpful in the assistance that they offered. There was one item that was out of stock at the time of my order and, as I didn't need it right away, I was happy to wait a short time to order it from them instead of shopping elsewhere. I would recommend Wallack's to any customer, whether it is someone who is quite familiar with art supplies or someone who is new to the category.

My long time favourite art supply store. I'm a photographer so most of thier supplies don't directly apply but I do love seeing all the interesting things when I go in for mats and frames.

I was helped over the phone today regarding sealing painting projects on wood and all my questions were answered. I received clear instructions and received recommended products to seal my work. Thank you!

My order was shipped quickly and I even received a thank-you note from the president (without any obligation to purchase more, which I really appreciate since it felt much more sincere). I am very pleased with my ordering, purchasing and delivery (curbside pickup) experience at Wallack's. Their prices were better than other "local", but big retail stores (and online giants), the website easy to navigate, search and order, and everything was fairly quick. A great COVID-time experience and I feel really good about supporting a truly local business. I would have rated 5 stars, except that many canvas sizes were out-of-stock, but I chalk that up mostly to COVID as well.

Super discouraged to make my way downtown after googling Wallacks' current hours onky to find out at the door they are refusing cash. Completely inconvenient and a total shame as I highly encourage shopping locally and supporting artist communities. I am paid for my work in cash and rarely, if ever, have my credit card on me, and I was fully prepared to drop a solid mint tonight. Looks like I will be going to big brand Michaels instead for my canvases and paint.

Love love love Wallack's. Great customer service, reasonable prices, and has all the essentials. Further, they have adapted well and safely to being safely open during the pandemic. You can shop for your art supplies here with peace of mind.

Having recently brought some items in to be framed, and remounted. The poor rating was due to my customer service "experience".

When I dropped off my prints and pictures the clerk advised it would be 3-4 weeks. I called at about week 3 for an update, and the individual that answered was confused and didn't have a clue about my order, took my number and said someone would call back. Nobody ever did. After a few days had passed, I decided to email, nobody ever responded. I called the following week and another clerk answered and couldn't provide any updates too my order again, and said someone would call back. Nobody ever did.

Decided to visit the store at the end of week 5 as I had no idea to what was going on, and to my surprise the order was ready with no notification.

Would I use Wallack's again? Most likely not.

That being said, the work done was well done, and worth the price. Just be prepared to lower your expectations related to customer service and communication.

Ottawa is trying to be a larger city - really early days in that process.

I love this store, every time I go I want to buy the whole store! When I lived away from Ottawa I genuinely missed this place.

Friendly staff and good selection of materials. It doesn't have everything I'd want, but it does have most of it!

Buying art stuff is always a good time. But if you can do it at a locally owned, and community minded art store - it's way better. Everyone's always friendly. Helpful without getting all up in your business.

Premium artist supply store for the Ottawa area. They have supplies for almost any type of creative activity. That can range from simple paint pouring kits to do with your kids to raw ingredients you can use to create your own paint and basically everything in between.

It's actually sort of overwhelming at first (like a kid in a candy store) but they have good student deals along with a nice point system to get discounts. If you go a few times you'll start to really settle In and be able to find what you want very easily.

(Although I'm not 100% sure I think it's a safe bet to say don't come here for household painting supplies, but you can always phone in to see if they have it!)

Their online order and pickup turnaround time is hours-days, as opposed to weeks-months for other art supply stores. They seem to really appreciate their customers.

I had a great experience ordering art supplies on line from Wallack's. The website is very easy to follow and I was impressed that their inventory was up to date. From order to delivery was less than one week, which is simply amazing in these times of covid! Great customer service. I will not hesitate to order again from Wallack's.
