Waterloo Central Railway

Went here on the 23rd of December. Santa came! My little one was amazed to meet Santa, Mrs. Claus and Barbie too. She even talked to an elf! I saw the Christmas magic in my little girls eyes.

What a lovely time! So happy that my daughter, grandson and I were able to experience this magical train ride.

We visited during doors open and got an amazing tour by so many knowledgeable volunteers. Very interesting!

We had a really nice time on the train. It's a pleasure to be able to experience a taste of the past.

It was my first time experiencing the Historic Train Ride, which covered different areas between Waterloo and Elmira. I visited on a weekday and there were not a lot of visitors that day.

Had so much fun and celebrated my Dad’s 80th birthday on this train trip with family including his great grandsons. He and his great grandsons love trains! Warm thanks to the awesome crew who announced his birthday and made him feel very special.

It is a very good time for family to hang out and have nice conversations while enjoying the train ride.

Didn't ride, spoke with the mechanics about engines, cars, repairs, and preservation.

Nice little trip for Saturday afternoon. We enjoyed it. I take a couple stars off for having no soap or running water in the washroom. Not even hand sanitizer. Could have been a 5 otherwise.

It a nice trip through farm country. Nothing fancy just a nice relaxing couple of hours journey

Great local spot to check out. Bonus points to anyone that plays augmented reality games like Pokemon Go or Ingress because they have a portal on site

Took the train to go to Elmira Maple Syrup Festival. The train and journey was good. 100% recommend the service.

Great experience for kids to travel in the train. Friendly and excellent staffs (all staffs are volunteers). Decorations inside the train for special occasions/festivals.
Lots of parking space in the plaza adjacent to the St. Jacob's farmers market station - the train platform is at the back of the "Value Village" store.

We had a great time over the March Break! The kids really enjoyed it, the staff were wonderful and the price was very reasonable, especially since it's a not for profit and relies on ticket sales to keep it running. Will be back again during spring or summer for a different view.

Went up to the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival. Wonderful time great way to get there. Very friendly staff. It could have been a little warmer. But great time. Thanks

This was a great trip. We've taken train rides before, but they always end up being too short. This was just about two hours from St. Jacob up to Elmira, and back again. We got the first class tickets and the seating was "sofa style" along the sides, facing into the centre. Seating in the other part of the train was "bench style" (like a school bus.) The cars were clean, the ride was smooth, and Matt, the Engineer/Service Manager was very knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic about his train. Easy to see he loved his job. We really enjoyed this excursion and would recommend for a nice day trip. If you go on a Saturday, stop at the St. Jacobs farmers market and wander around.

Also, just FYI, they have a Christmas train which gets totally decked out and decorated for Christmas, and also a train that runs to Elmira for the Maple Syrup Festival. We are waiting for the Christmas train tickets to go on sale and plan to go again!

Matt is an excellent, knowledgeable tour guide. Every minute of the ride was experienced with sheer delight. Our 2 families with 4 boys total and 3 adults had a ball in first class

We had an amazing time last night singing xmas carols and meeting Santa. Regular coach (car 2) was just amazing. Definitely recommend.

What a magical event! We had an amazing time on the Christmas train with our kids. We were so impressed by the lights, characters, staff and entertainment. From the signing to the dancing, Santa and his Elves, the train rain was beautiful and a wonderful way to spend an hour. Top to bottom I highly recommend.

The most magical Christmas experience ever. I am so glad my husband took me here. I am a baby when it comes to Christmas. I loved it - the ride was 1 hour and not even a single dull moment. Goldy, harry and all the other staff was just full of life the games, dance, Carlos and songs made it even better. We all were enjoying from the bottom of our hearts and top of lungs? I would surely re- visit and recommend going IN.

Our second year attending. One of our favourite new traditions to kickstart the season! We had a great time getting into the spirit with the characters on board. Santa was awesome and took his time to take pictures with each family. Would highly recommend checking it out:)

I have struggled with Christmas after losing my son. This train ride brought back wonderful memories from when my son was a child, as we made new ones with my niece. The ride was magical, and made more special by all the great staff. Thank you

My family and I went on the Christmas train ride tonight. Nothing but perfection. We had a blast. Entertaining and festive. Highly recommend.

My 2 year old son loved the Christmas Lights Experience! The staff were all amazing and sweet. It was a great family holiday activity, highly recommend!
