This is the best vet clinic I have ever been to. My poor cat Luna has been having issues with constipation and I knew I had to take her to a clinic. I called Waterloo West and they were able to book an appointment on the same day! When I got there, the staff were all welcoming and assured me that Luna would be well taken care of. Problems were solved within 2 hours and I got to take her home, feeling more assured she would feel better the next day. Luna is back to her regular self (playing with the ornaments on my tree, having regular bowl movements, and eating like normal). Thank you to all the staff at Waterloo West for taking care of my fur baby! This is our new veterinary hospital!

I called this vet on a Sunday (we are not clients) they took time out of their day, answered concerns we had about our dog reviewed an email and directed us on further care.

The staff at this location are very friendly and very helpful.

As a client, I am deeply concerned about this vet handles personal information. The details disclosed by this vet in response to some of these reviews is in direct violation of CVMA's principles of ethics regarding patient privacy. They should not be disclosing information from pets' medical records. Waterloo West should really look inward to understand why it's getting these 1-star reviews. The service received from Jessica (Practice Manager) is staggeringly bad. She treats longstanding clients like criminals instead of with professionalism and compassion. It is really quite sad.

This place is the worst clinic I been to. I was a client there for 10yrs knowing that they don’t have good services but I stayed out loyalty to them which they don’t have for you when they make a mistake. They order a harness for one of my dogs without my consent. 3 pieces of straps that was chocking my dog. They charged me $600 for it the problem for me was not the money but the quality of the harness and that it didn’t fit my dog. They tortured my dog for 40 minutes trying to put it on. The profesional that they claim to have there didn't take the measurements correctly otherwise we wouldn't be in this predicament. All they care is “MONEY” they were not concerned about my dog chocking on this thing even though they wanted to do surgery for trachea collapsed. They had the audacity to look at my face and say that the dog was going to be ok with the strap over his trachea. Also, I will like to advise Jessica “the manager” to work at a Zoo or a Circus because when she demanded payment she call my pets “YOUR ANIMALS” they have a name! At the end I trowed out the harness in the garbage, and by the way I refused surgery because I had a second opinion at another Vet and they suggested physiotherapy fisrt which is working wonderfully for my dog. Again you wanted more money from me suggesting surgery when was not need it.
And like every other bad review they have an answer for it. That’s what they specialize on making excuses for their mistakes. One observation on your comment "Jessica" who the heck is Tofu and Beetroot I only have 2 dogs

I found myself in a situation with a mysteriously, seriously sick cat, and my regular vet unavailable. Waterloo West Animal Hospital fit us in for a same-day urgent appointment and we were in there within the hour. Record setup and intake was a well-oiled operation, what they didn’t already have on file from the phone contact was very quickly done and we saw the vet tech within minutes of arriving. The doctor we saw was very thorough without insisting on every upsell that might have been possible; I appreciate the concern for clients’ circumstances as well as patients’ needs, and the fact that the immediately necessary diagnostics, and start of treatment, were all available in-clinic while we waited. I placed one callback with questions that were answered carefully and thoroughly, and the clinic team called to ask after my cat the next day.

It is clearly a very busy group practice and I suspect clients see whomever of the vet team is in at the time, but with seemingly excellent recordkeeping and administrative procedures, I don’t see any problem with a patient history being unavailable or missed as might happen in some smaller practices that keep manual records or have itinerant doctors. I also really appreciate the extended hours of operation, as emergencies happen and driving to another city to get to a very expensive VetER practice is not only expensive, but distressing for pets and their people. It was such a relief to be able to get my cat seen same-day, less than 10 minutes from home.

As my previous vet is looking to retire from practice, I’ll likely move care for all my animals to Waterloo West.

I chose this hospital’s Wellness plan that was the worst decision I ever made! I have not received any phone or email notifications after the plan expires. My dog fell while playing, so I took her to the hospital for a basic check-up. There’s no staff reminded me that the plan was due until I paid the bill. I think their process is very unreasonable, and the manager told me that I cannot refund the consult fee because they have no necessary duty to notify customers the expiration date on the contract that I signed…Everything in this hospital is about money, everyone is passing the buck, and the vet’s abilities are also

What a wonderful clinic. My dog needed emergency care and my normal vet was closed. From my initial phone call I was treated with respect, compassion and my dog was seen by the vet within 1 hour of my call. Very friendly staff, clean clinic and all who work there really care about the patient as well as the humans.

Yes, absolutely, your phone calls are recorded. So I’m glad you took a listen to the call, but where is your accountability for the receptionist’s attitude? You can clearly hear it in the call and I even got emotional because the receptionist was being so rude, and I word for word said “I’m not trying to be rude here, I just want my pet to get better”, even when I had been polite the entire time. By the end of it, my tone was audibly defeated and disappointed because of the tone and attitude I was receiving, but I still couldn’t bring myself to say something about it during the call because I wanted my pet to get help. I’m a person just like your employees are… I’m sure that you want to defend your employees but any reputable business should be able to take criticism if it deserves it in order to get better. Copy and pasting that you have compassion in every review reply doesn’t actually mean you’re treating people with compassion. I really hope your customer service improves in the future.

I have never posted a review before but had to after such a bad experience… I was really shocked with how rude reception was when I called and tried to make an appointment. It is stressful enough when your pet is in pain; if anyone from the clinic reads this: some compassion goes a long way. Reception didn’t let me explain my situation and just wanted to book me in to get my $350 which they require as a deposit before they do anything to your pet. They don’t like when you ask ANY questions before paying that deposit, like how much a procedure will cost or questions about the procedure. I called a different vet clinic afterwards, said the exact same things, even asked questions, and the OTHER clinic was very understanding, kind and helpful. Super disappointed, I would recommend going elsewhere in Waterloo region.

I have been taking my dogs there for 19 years and am very pleased with the service, professionalism, and friendliness of vets and staff. Padmini and staff were so kind when Rosey had to be euthanized and my rambunctious Zoom has been made welcome there for the last four years. I can understand that there can be stress in this service but it has never affected the care we receive. Well done!

My cat's first ever visit to a vet and as an older cat, I was worried he would be super stressed out and scared. He immediately took a liking to both the assistant and the vet, and the whole experience was wonderful! Office was clean and I was taken care of right away.

They were gentle and understanding, did a thorough job and explained everything to me as we went along. Pricing for services was fair, and results for tests were quick and emailed to me, as well as talked about during 2 follow up calls from the vet.

A 10/10 experience and this is the only vet in town I would choose from now on! You can tell they love animals and the whole team there is awesome! Thanks from me and Bean!

I took my cat here a few years ago for emergency surgery and they did phenomenal. They went above and beyond to make sure my cat was okay and to make sure I was okay. I went back again last night and nothing has changed I took my brothers cat in I got the same vet I had years ago Dr. Tahir and again amazing. From the moment you step in to the moment you leave you are absolutely taken care of. I will always recommend this vet to everyone. Thank you Waterloo west for being a great team!

This clinic has the most kind, knowledgeable and helpful staff I've encountered. They are gentle with my dog and he actually gets excited every time we arrive at the parking lot because he knows where we are! He isn't afraid of vaccines or bloodwork here, and prices are affordable. I moved over 100 km away during university and instead of switching to a local vet, I chose to remain a client here and make the drive because of how much I value this clinic. Highly recommend if you are in the tri-city area.

Great place to bring pets of all kinds. Friendly service and knowledgeable staff. My lizards and guinea pigs have all been helped at this location.

Poor communication and customer service during incredibly difficult circumstances. I was deeply disappointed in the level of care they provided during the final moments of my dog's life. I don't ever leave bad reviews, but this is warranted.

On January 5th, 2023 we lost our beloved dog Jed at the age of 13 years. Our hearts were broken. He was so loved and part of the family. To end his suffering we had to make a very difficult decision. The staff at Waterloo West Animal Hospital were understanding and patient while we said our last goodbyes.
Veterinary assistant Belle went over and above her job duties for our family that day! She will always be in our hearts for that. Belle, thank you. You are a wonderful person and fantastic at your job. The love you have for animals shines! Also, a warm thank you to Dr Muhammad Hussain, he was truly amazing with Jed. His gentle approach and compassion made a very difficult
time made easier.
We are so thankful to have had him as Jed's Doctor in the last moments of his life. The entire staff was truly amazing and our family highly recommends this Veterinary hospital.

This afternoon, I took my cat Ellie to see Dr. Padmini Makkapati. Despite the clinic being very busy attending to emergencies, staff made a concerted effort to attend to all animals, including Ellie. My animals have been cared for my Waterloo West Animal Hospital since it opened. Thank-you, Dr. Makkapati and Staff!
