WCRI has been a fantastic place to live this past year - the staff and other community members are friendly and enthusiastic!

Best place in Northdale/around UW and Laurier to live. And affordable, clean, and safe housing company that treats you with respect. Also the best location for housing, apartment and townhouse, that is close to the bus station, ION stop, plaza, University, and more.

Zero communication. Barely responds to emails. Ghosted for months. Still waiting for my deposit back.

Superb affordable student housing, opposite to UOW, book a tour through website beforehand, if you planning to visit.

Don't even bother. The walls are paper thin there is no sense of privacy. The beds are still not assembled after moving in; was told the beds will be assembled soon after moving in but its been 6 month and no reply. The management is a joke

Horrible communication. Have been trying to contact them regarding a sublet for weeks with almost no response.

You get what you pay for. Place is okay for the convince of location. A bit dated but is definitely better then some of the new buildings in the area.

Overall, management is responsive to feedback and is very reasonable; they won't try to con you (like other nearby landlords - ICON domus KW4rent,).

However, I cannot recommend living at 280 Philip dormitory housing. The building is beyond legal depreciation and should be drastically renovated. Mgmt is simply "squeezing the tube" of profits on this one. Here are some cons of this:

- No control of HVAC in the rooms: my room is obnoxiously hot and difficult to sleep in. Also, there is no air circulation unless you open your window.

- Plague of ants in all rooms. I don't bring food into my room, but I still have a problem of ants appearing over my desk and crawling into my kettle, brita filter and Muji diffuser. This is disgusting. Every tenant I have asked reported this problem too.

- Very thin walls and weird layout allows noise creates a poor insulation of noise from the staircase and other roommates. I.e. One of my roommates keeps on slamming the bathroom doors so loud it could wake up a deaf patient at night.

- The mattress I received must be 40+ years old and is more padded down than the cheeks of a $10 pole worker. Simply saying: it was really difficult to sleep on and resulted in frequent back pain. I had to buy an air mattress which was an improvement.

- Arrangement of four rooms and one full bathroom where the toilet and shower are separated in different rooms. This is annoying in the morning when you need to use both stations and run between the two rooms.

Essentially, if you have any standards for hygiene and value your sleep, I cannot recommend the dormitory style building at 280 Philip Street.

Was a good place to live until recently. Now they've signed a ridiculous contract with "Cloud Wifi", forcing the entire housing complex to share bandwidth AND preventing any other ISPs from operating in the area. As if that's bad enough, their newest building, Fenwick, was built completely without support for an ethernet-based connection, forcing you to use wifi that's at 2 bars at best most of the time.

If you play games, stream, or enjoy watching YouTube at reasonable speeds, this is no longer the place for you. I cannot wait for my contract to expire, and plan to never return.

Quite an unsafe place to live.

If you want to have a broken leg or a broken arm right before your final exams, welcome to WCRI.

They collect high rent, yet they do not clean sidewalks in winter.
These pictures were taken on April 17th; THREE days AFTER the freezing rain hit. What you see is not snow but ICE. It is the second working day after the stormy weekend, and they are too cheap to use some salt and remove the accumulated ice.

WCRI is quite a hazardous place, and I almost broke my left arm when I fell this morning. My back and left side hurt, and I am not sure if this is going to be a serious health issue for me.

I was heading to school to finish one of my major projects, and my final exams are just a few days ahead.

Stay away from this called "Cooperative" as it is just a poorly managed organization.
Stay away and stay HEALTHY.
