The Wentworth stairs are rated 4.5 out of 5 for difficulty but I would say if you have decent breath control aka can walk up stairs, this is a difficulty of 1. The stairs are under repair and the upper half is closed, which means you get a half glass full view of the mountain. It took exactly 10 minutes. I was prepared to break my knees and glutes but unfortunately my rocky moment was not had.

The upper part of the stairs is closed until they finish the work on the park at the top. Timeline: October 2023.

Is a moderate to hard, depending on your fitness level.

Would have given it 5 * but the level going to the top of the stairs to see the escarpment are blocked off. Still nice to look down anyway

Stairs are easy to walk up and are well maintained, it's big enough for 1 person on the stair case, however each landing is big enough for several people. Nice scenery with all the trees.

Will do again.

A great way to find out just how out of shape you really are. Don't listen to the fitness bros other reviews. This thing is like hell on earth for shut-ins like me.

Great spot for exercise! Expect sore legs if your not used to climbing stairs! I recommend starting at the top and finishing at the bottom! Much easier then the opposite!

Great place to get your cardio strength improved and leg toning like nothing else. Start slow if you're out of shape but easiest way to get toning results if you push your limits a little each time

500 stairs to the top of the escarpment. Great workout. The stairs are a bit narrow but not too busy in the morning on a weekday.

We enjoy going up and down the stairs as an exercise and also to access the shops on Concession St. We always seem to meet nice people on the stairs and the views from the top are the best in Hamilton.
The stairs are very well lit at night.

This is where it all starts or end. Depending if you want to do the stairs once or twice! Nice rest area and breathe in the good air that the trees gives you!

Using the stairs as a part of my exercise routine was one of the best things I could have done personally.
As a beginner I started from the top to the bottom and back to the top again in 20 minutes or less. And that was even taking idle breaks (several) and I DON’T RUN! EVER…
Avid “stair goers”, and pretty well everyone I greeted along the way were pleasant and kind. Some days I am even there before 7am and quite frankly that’s really early for me and still I am compelled to smile and wave or nod at every single person I meet on the Wentworth Stairs.
This exercise routine has not only moved my physical health in the right direction, but it has restored my faith in Hamiltonians of all walks of life!

Beautiful place to see the city, get a little exercise, or simply get up and down the mountain on foot as quickly as possible

Very good! Meaning very challenging especially for us Seniors Pensioners!
Not overdoing it though?
As our Clint Eastwood said:
A man has got to know his limitations.

Stairs. People using it to get on "mountain", hike, exercise. Tough. Picturesque view of Hamilton "opens" while moving up.

Enjoyable spot to exercise and relax at the same time. My go to place for when I need a quiet walk. Needs more lighting for evening hours along the brow path stairs are well lit.

It's great for workout now that the gyms are still close.it is an amazing people are nice and the veiw is breath taking!
08 February 2021 1:45
Steepest stairs in the city overall, great for a workout and convenient for commuting if you live a car-optional lifestyle. Lots of litter and graffiti, unfortunately, otherwise I'd have given it 6 stars.

Too many people these days with no consideration for anyone else. Used to be a fun place to go but like with everything in Hamilton its ruined thanks to the influx on newcomers from domestic (Toronto) and abroad

Amazing exercise with great views and neat history, not to mention convenient access to and from upper/lower Hamilton!

Love the Wentworth stairs. I walk up to the top of the stairs where I can see heaven so clearly.

Stairs lead from the bottom of wentworth street to upper sherman cut. It probably will take an average of fifteen minutes or more to climb to sherman cut, this; include pausing for rest, once you reach the top, you will face the traffic of sherman cut going to upper Sherman, you need to be very alert, as the traffic move fast, there is no traffic light or any warning to motorist or people.it is an excitement and daring experience.

Was very peaceful & beautiful ^^ the fireflies were lit up everywhere! And there wasnt any people there at around 10 o'clock on a Wednesday. The mosquitos weren't too bad at all either, we used repellent and we weren't bugged at all by them. (On the stairs or Bruce trail)
08 August 2019 20:19
It's a (long) set of stairs, what else is there to say?
It leads from wentworth st to the top of the escarpment, you need to cross the road halfway up and there is no formal pedestrian crossing.
The rails can leave a black residue on your hands.
Many people use the stairs for fitness walking (or running) up and down, so you may need to make space for them.

This is cool there meany ways to go up or down the mountain but this one really cool the view is very nice at night
14 July 2019 4:22
This place has its ups and downs. I come here when I want to step it up.
The treads themselves are grate. There are 500 steps, so do it about 3.5 times, and you have climbed the CN Tower.
According to Strava on my phone, there is about 65 meters elevation change.

Amazing experince, Amazing workout. I just wish someone would do something about the always running water at the bottom of the stairs in the bottle filling station.
24 June 2019 9:35
First time they're interesting experience going down legs are sore it was kind of fun want to go back and actually go up
22 June 2019 22:20
Women need a companion to climb for security reasons. Being accosted alone many times not assaulted but remain scared to be there by myself. A wonderful challenge, wholesome activity.

Born and raised the Wentworth stairs will always be a part of me I'll always come back to the Wentworth stairs. Photos coming up soon
30 May 2019 14:33
Bring your a game! 500 steep steps to the top. Good cardio and joint and muscle workouts coming up! People do use the stairs for fitness. Can you?
22 May 2019 7:00
Not a park. Set of many flights of stairs at the edge of the escarpment. Highly valued as a means of excercise locally.
20 May 2019 2:40
The stairs are a big improvement compared to the old ones. Haven't seen them 4 a very long time.
17 May 2019 11:13
Wow is all I can say going down on them with a bike not bad going might test your heart and lungs but people do it all the time
11 May 2019 10:19
First time ever doing them. They were quite the work out. Wish they weren't see through though, that was tripping me up for sure. It was probingi quite disorienting.
09 May 2019 3:51
I love how quickly my cardio improved. Now climbing these stairs is part of my daily routine. You'll become hooked on the results.
29 April 2019 0:49
These stairs tap right into the Bruce trail. Carefull crossing the street, the city failed to make this a safe crossing.
08 April 2019 8:54
