Went to this mall today. A very old one but still looks good. Just visited service ontario they almost all services. A lots of construction going around the place
Still open during transitions. New residential tower going up with retail set for bottom, and of I'm not mistaken, that's the shortest tower of four more coming that will complement it. Pandemic precautions were still in place when we visited.
The weirdest old mall I've come across in a while. There's a dollarish store that sells products covered in Russian characters. There are weird 'street sign' nameplates for the businesses. This is one of the coolest malls I've ever been to.
This was once a good little mall. A lot of stores have gone. New condos being built on site so very limited parking. Shoppers has a wellness store for all medical supplies. The entrance is at the back of the mall behind Shoppers with a separate entrance. Before COVID you could go through the Shoppers.
I go to this mall on a weekly basis but barely go inside. There’s no way someone in the mood to “go shopping” would choose to go there instead of Bayshore or even Carlingwood. I’ve literally only been inside to get passport photos and to renew my Driver’s license. Only reason they see me so often is the 24/7 Shoppers. They seem to be expanding though so hopefully the place becomes more exciting.
Shoppers Drug mart Poor customer service. Waited behind a person to make my purchase for 10 minutes as he straightened out all of his lottery biz. Only one oblivious cashier open.
One of Ottawa very first malls, in middle of major construction changes, right now affecting parkling lot, much more of a local area mall, pharmacy and bank as core business here, always clean and friendly solid long term small businees owners, has 24 hr pharmacy here
Lots of stores are completely out of business due to covid-19. Unfortunately a lot of interesting characters to meet here and not all are positive. Food court is mostly open however seating is extremely limited. No spaces to sit at all in the mall unless you are eating, no benched or chairs so if you have a disability or knee/hip/leg issues be wary. Janitors are extremely helpful and useful, they do a fantastic job of cleaning and the only reason this place is higher than 1/2 stars is for sure the Custodial staff. The Security guards are extremely rude. Not in the “lets stay in line and make sure everyone is safe” way but unfortunately the “I hold power over you, listen” kind of way. Quite a few unhappy shoppers and run ins with security over trivial issues (too far from Service Ontario doors) when waiting in line etc. Business that are open that I know of at the moment: Ottawa Gold, Le Grand Pita (Shawarma), Dollar mart, Lotto centre, Kardish (CRAZY LINES BEWARE 10-25m WAIT), Nettletons, RBC, TD bank just opened their Tellers, Service Ontario (Lines of 35m-1: 30h), Subway, Second cup (reduced hours and they close 30m early), Westgate Barber shop. Washrooms usually don’t smell to great but are actually well maintained.
Small, run down, and boring. They have a big Shoppers Drug Mart which is bright and clean, but the rest of the mall is dark, dingy, and depressing. I always feel bad for the poor souls working there. When Ottawa has so many good malls to choose from, I would not waste my time at this one.
Not so much going on here but there are few stores like shopper's drug mart, post office, restaurant for dinner, dollar store, traveling accessories store.
If you don't like the hustle and bustle of the big malls. Quiet peaceful and you're not bumping into other people doing their shopping so check it out to great mall. And watch out for the construction they tore down monkey Jose. I don't know what's going to be built there but I'm sure it'll be amazing!
Very small - the 'anchor' stores are a Shoppers and a Service Ontario - but clean and up to date inside. Much of the shopping area has natural light too. There's even a small food court.
Useless mall for now. They are doing some major renovations, maybe adding some decent stores. It does have a 24hr shoppers that comes in handy if u are local
I only go for the pharmacy and barbers.old school mall. Would be nice to see them bring the movie theater back maybe with an upscale twist kind of like Lansdowne vip theater.
Soooooo icky now. I don't know what's going on but most of the stores are closed. It seems to be a place where random people just go to hang out and play on their phones.
A little bit like visiting a failing mall in a small town. Many stores closed, the selection is poor oh, I bet if you like people watching you'll probably enjoy yourself
I like comming here for just a few conveniently located services: Ministry of Transportation of Ontario, Small Food Court, Novel Dollar Store, Banks and Shopper's Drug Mart. Sadly, the Westgate Shopping Mall has a very high vacancy rate as a large number of storefronts are available for lease.
This place is sad. Every 3rd storefront is shuttered with a For Lease sign. I wonder what is going to happen to this old mall. They have a great old time barber shop, and magazine stand, and a second cup, and a dollar store, and big pharmacy for anchor - but they just can't ever seem to get much else going.
Terrible mall. Old and not well maintained. Stores old, not well lit, cluttered. Possibly the worst run shoppers drug mart in the city with outdated food, fruit flies around produce, won't open another cash when long line ups, they tell you to go to self serve cashes.
Outside is rather dated (Mom said she first visit it in the early 1960's). The inside has been refreshed and has TD bank, a well stocked Dollar store, Pharmacy and other stores that make it a good core for local visits. I found though that there is no exciting destination or store with continual product changes to draw in other people and make this a destination mall.
It was a cool little mall and really easy to find the places you need. They had signs like street signs in the outside of the stores which made it easy.
Has lotto, a second cup, a shoppers drug mart with a Canada post and medical supplies sections, TD bank, very small food court and Rockin' Johnny's. Great place to stop on your commute from East end to West end when you have to do banking, drop something in the mail and pick up groceries.
