They never disappoint in finding the style of tiles I'm looking for. And at a reasonable price.

We used Whelan's for our renovation - all flooring, tile and backsplash - and they were terrific. Everything from their help in picking out the right options for our 150+ year old home through to installation was perfect. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again!

I was very pleased with my experience with Whelan's. The staff were knowledgeable and courteous and very patient as I made my decisions. The installation crew were great and the end result is fabulous! I would not hesitate to make a return visit for our next project.

We had an fairly good experience with Whalen's. We had quoted out a small carpet job (400 sq ft) and they were the cheapest quote for the same materials across three competitors. Which was great.

We dealt with Jim at the store and he was helpful and friendly. Our carpet arrived in stock early and was available to be installed within a week, which was also great.

Our only gripe came with the install. It was just kinda amateurish. The carpet doesn't sit flush against the trim for the length of the wall, so in certain places there is a small gap between trim and carpet, and in other places there isn't. This is distracting to the eye and creates shadows in some places and not in others, which doesn't look very clean. I had expected it to be flush and uniform everywhere as we paid $830 for a 4 hour install. There's also parts where the carpet raises up due to the gripper and looks "puffy" near the perimeter, and other places where this doesn't happen.

I don't know how much of this was unavoidable, I'm not an expert on carpet installation, but it left a sour taste in my mouth. If I was to do this all again, I would get my materials from Whalen's as they had the best price, but I would try and find somewhere else to install.

Over $1330 worth of flooring ordered and did not arrive as stated. We had to call them to trace.they advised it was stuck in the shipping container backlog. Refund given. Promised to send pics of similar flooring.never arrived. Went to another store.original flooring available by land from New Jersey within 2 weeks.and at $1.00 less a tile!

A less than glowing review…. Our basement flooded just before Christmas due to a failed sewage lift pump. Not a pleasant holiday. Apparently our insurance company uses Whelan’s flooring as the go to flooring supply and installation store in the Peterborough area. We were pleasantly surprised to see a Whelan’s rep there the day after the flood to take measurements and inquire about our preferred replacement flooring. We had just finished our basement the previous year and wanted the same flooring. I provided the exact product we wanted as I had a box left over from the installation we had done. A few days later a Whelan’s person called to say they found a very similar product that they carry and would we take that. I had to explain again that we wanted the same product that we had and it shouldn’t matter that it wasn’t a brand that they carried. They promptly said no problem and ordered the product, not too much of a fight…. Yet. When we got home after the first day of installation (about half of the 1500 ft2 was replaced) we noticed about a dozen air pockets under the floor. Having just installed the floor 18 months prior and not having any noticeable air pockets we called to express concerns. After some back and forth they agreed to pull the floor and re-lay it. Once the floor was pulled, it was apparent, in our opinion, why the air pockets were there. The vapor barrier consisted of small pieces (ranging from 3’x6’ to 5’x8’) taped together instead of using a full width 9’ x 30 feet piece. The vapour barrier also wasn’t properly sealed. There was a 1-6 inch gap between the wall and the vapour barrier around 50 percent of the perimeter. The final straw was the laying of a variegated floor pattern being layed with a grouping of 9 similar coloured boards in the middle of our family room. It was very noticeable when you entered the room and not how it should be layed. We even showed Whelan’s a picture of the floor after it was finished, and their own staff agreed once they saw the pictures they would not be happy with it and that it probably could be fixed. When our concerns went higher up the seniority chain however, they did not even respond to us and said we had to go through our restoration company and we heard nothing after that. So sad to write this review as I have used Whelan’s for many of my renovations over the last 15 years.

Whelan's has done multiple flooring jobs for us over the years, including commercial flooring and tiling in showers and bathrooms. Quality of the work has always been excellent.

Great workmanship by floor werks and great product and customer support from Whelan's. Floors look amazing. We had (wife had) a minor issue and they rectified it without hesitation. We will be building in a few years and both the Floor Werks and Whelans will be our number one choice.

Worst experience I’ve ever had with a purchase. Despite two major problems with our flooring, including being given inaccurate information by a sales associate, Whelan’s has wiped their hands clean. Not only are they offering no form of compensation, they have also been extremely rude/patronizing to me during our conversations. I think you would get better customer service at Home Depot or just about anywhere else.

I just purchased LVT's for my kitchen from Whelan's, which I had them install. I did have some initial problem with a grout haze remaining on the tiles, which I could not get off. I went and talked with Braden Clark who sold me the tiles. He said not to worry, it wasn't my responsibility to clean that off, and they would make sure that they fixed the problem to my satisfaction.

The man who did the original install came back with a special cleaner, and made sure everything cleaned up perfectly before he left. He was very professional.

I am very pleased with the service I received from Whelan's, both from the sales staff, and the installer. They are friendly, courteous, and considerate of their customers. I highly recommend Whelan's for your flooring needs.
