UPDATE: in 2020 I was given a BAD PRESCRIPTION for my glasses. I complained then that it didn’t feel right and I was getting headaches. After several months it felt like it adjusted. Yesterday, I had my annual with a new optometrist who pointed out my PRESCRIPTION WAS WRONG IN MY LEFT EYE and I’m going back to my original prescription from 2020. My right eye has over compensated for my left for three years! I’m frustrated that I was encouraged to live with this with no recourse to correct. I cannot recommend this place any longer and I’ll be taking my family somewhere else.

I’ve been going here for 20 years.

Additionally the front staff is condescending and is more interested in talking with each other about their backyard projects. Less bothered by this and I’m sure they won’t do anything about their admin staff

I went to Whitby Vision Care last week for the first time and it was a very pleasant experience. It was quite busy, however the experience and customer service wasn’t hindered. My appointment was with Dr. Ketha and she was competent, thorough and kind. She also took the time to explain some of the concerns/things to keep in mind with regards to my eyes. Once the appointment was completed, I had also procured glasses from there as well and the associates were patient and attentive.

Overall, it was a great experience at Whitby Vision Care, I will be going back there for all future appointments and eye care needs.

I recently lost my eye glasses, no need for details but needless to say it was my own darn fault.
The team pulled together and within days I had a brand new shiny pair of prescription glasses. Perfect fit, cost effective and stylish.
I would like to thank each team member for their help with a special call out to Yolanda, Penny and Joel for their advocacy and follow through.
I have been a customer for many years and can’t see that changing given the level of service and care I have received, not only in this matter but in every interaction.

Nothing but obsessional services everytime we come to Whitby Vision Care. I had an issue with My lenses and Sharon took care of me right away. My daughter needed adjustments on her glasses and Desiree did an amazing job. Always feel like family when we come in.

An excellent establishment. They clearly care about their patients. The staff are all very pleasant, especially Fiona! She is extremely professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and an overall pleasure to speak with. I was well taken care of and I will definitely come back again.

They cancelled my appointments twice without my knowledge and just said there was nothing in the system. Been going there since i was a child and never had a problem before. Receptionist was rude and whenever I leave messages I never receive a call back. Extremely unimpressed and will be finding a new optometrist.

Unable to schedule appointments less than several months in advance. Very difficult to deal with.

The swift response that I recieved today from Whitby Vision Care was so delightful! I spoke to Joel over the phone to explain my concern and he had me in within the hour! Not only did they have me booked in very quickly but my overall satisfaction of the customer care I recieved was top notch. This created a great experience for me and I'm happy to say that I will be a lifetime client of Whitby Vision Care. Thank you to all the friendly staff for creating an amazing experience!

Always a hassle to get an appointment… took weeks to get my broken glasses fixed and it was just a missing screw. Considering how much more i am paying for glasses here i wont be going back.

Dr Joshi is very thorough, his office very bright and clean.

The doctors are wonderful here, the receptionists I have dealt with are unfortunately not. I have been a patient here my entire life, and tried to make an appointment for my daughter who just turned two. I was told that if she takes off her mask during the duration of the appointment we will be asked to leave and reschedule our appointment. Having this expectation for a TWO year old is completely wrong. I don’t know if the doctors realize they are single handedly causing loyal patients with children to go elsewhere.

I am so grateful to Whitby Vision Care and especially to Dr. Pamela Schmitz, I went to her thinking my eyesight was not as good as it was and she after doing some tests recommended that I go to emergency with all of the test results that she had given me. If she had not caught the issue I would have lost my sight. I cannot thank her enough for the care that she provided to me since I became a patient of hers. Thanks a million, Caroline

This is the worst place for customer service.
I was helping my mother with purchasing glasses.
I was told I could assist her as she has a hard time seeing and needed the help.
When arrived at the store I was rudely told I could not enter as it's only one person per family, but others were entering no question asked even a family of 6.
The staff here are rude
Only let me in when they wanted the payment, also payment was made at the rear of the store not at front desk, guess covid protocol doesn't exist when they want payment.
Definitely will never recommend.

Update, received a reply from wvc.
Telling me that I could have come in to assist my mother and that they try to limit the customer's in store do to covid.
All understandable but all lies.
We made an appointment for my mom and myself to help her out, but again that didn't seem to matter.
Their understanding of covid protocol is about as good as the service.
Again definitely will never recommend.

Wow! Big shout out to Julie at Whitby Vision Care. My elderly mother in law (who has advanced alzheimers}, broke her glasses. Julie was able to remove the lenses, find new frames they would fit into, all within a half of an hour, and didn't charge us. I truly appreciate such amazing customer service! Thank you so very much. You made a sweet little lady very happy!

Today I picked up me first pair of prescription glasses which I need for reading. My experience at Whitby Vision Care was great from start to finish. Dr. Ketha was very nice and made me feel comfortable and relaxed. The person that helped me pick out my glasses, Meme, was great. Since it was my first time I thought it would take forever (I have a hard time finding sunglasses that look good) but it was really fast. I only had to try on two pair. When I went to pick up the glasses there was a bit of a mix up, right lenses, wrong frames. I'm sure this is not a common mistake. Meme found the correct frames and the lenses were able to be put in for pick up later in the morning. I could tell that correcting the issue as quick as possible was important to them.

After 20+ years of being with Dr. Schmidt, I've decided to quit being a patient here.

Not once in more than 20 years have I ever had an appointment that actually started on time. I'd be forgiving if the quality of the service merited staying but it no longer does. The sheer number of patients that she and her colleagues see cause lengthy, delayed appointments and it's gotten worse over time.

The last straw was my latest set of glasses. 4 visits, a new pair of glasses and $800 dollars later, I still cannot see properly from the right eye. I've explained the problem numerous times but they seem to be incapable of rectifying the issue. The miscommunications between the dispensing optician and the optometrist created a series of problems which ultimately, caused me to quit them altogether.

I'll need to find an optometrist who can actually correct my vision instead of selling me ointments and creams. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this outfit to anyone.

EDIT (17/03/21) Although Dr. Schmitz offered another appointment to deal with my issue mentioned above, I had a crisis of confidence in her ability to correct it. It also would have entailed several more trips of 250 kms each and the likelihood of all new expenses.

Therefore, I obtained copies of all my files and test results and subsequently fired her.

I made an appointment which when I showed up to it, was told it had been cancelled months prior. No attempt to reschedule it was made, even when I called to complain about their cancelling it.

A basic failure of courtesy and competence. Highly unprofessional in both the original mistake and how they tried to cover for their failure in taking care of their patients. I know for a fact others have had their appointments cancelled as well.

I need glasses. Rest assured that I will spend a good long while recommending other vision care clinics.

Akram Mohammed, help us what we are looking for in the store. He's a good and nice guy. We are very happy for sharing his knowledge and expertise about the products his selling. He's highly recommended to everyone.

They are doing an amazing job at keeping their clients safe. Their system reduces contact, and people are kept at a distance. Great job!

Dr. Lee is awesome ; she’s really super sweet but educational. Julie is awesome as well and I loved working with her. They have covid precautions well in place and everyone was super awesome and nice While checking temp and checking me in

I have been to a few optometry clinics over the years in the area and this is by far my favourite! The staff are very friendly and accommodating. I saw Dr. Jeannie Wong and she was wonderful. A very knowledgeable and caring doctor, she listened to all of my concerns patiently and was very thorough in her exam. I received BlephEx treatment from Amanda (she was great! Friendly and professional) for Blepharitis and left feeling so much better than when I had arrived. I highly recommend this office and trust them for all of my eye concerns.

I just want to highlight how great of an experience I've had at Whitby Vision Care. The staff are always very friendly and Dr. Joshi is an awesome doctor. I was checked by Dr Joshi and was done dilated eye exam. I was not clearly informed about the after effects.even though I told that I had to drive home right after the test, I wasn't explained how it can impact going out in the sunlight. As a result I had a lot of difficulty in driving back home.it was a very dangerous condition to drive whereas I found that in other places when they do such exam, patients are given a detailed information on what could happen right after the test and they also recommend not to drive. I am really disappointed that it wasn't told to me at all. I honestly don't think that I would go back to this clinic or recommend

Not only is she a wonderful and knowledgeable Doctor, also a kind and caring person who takes her time and gives her full attention to her patients!

Great experience at Whitby vision care today. Dr Ketha is very experienced and the way she took care of my 3yr old kid is awesome.

The nice receptionist was able to squeeze me in for an exam. I saw Dr. Duen Wong who was a very professional young doctor. He explained everything, each step, what to expect, etc. The examination was thorough, and all aspects I wanted to discussed were reviewed. I highly recommend Dr. Wong, and my past experiences at this clinic have been very good. The only small issue is the parking lot can be quite busy, so take that into consideration. It has a lot of parking, but this clinic is very popular!

I have been going to Whitby vision care for over 20 years now,
the service is impeccable and the staff is very friendly this store is beautiful and they have a great selection.
I always see Penny and she won’t stop assisting you until you are completely satisfied I highly recommend whitby vision care!
