Whitehern Historic House & Garden

Took my family from out of town during the weekend and it was great. While the area is not welcoming because of all the tents, we weren't bothered and everyone had a good time.

Marvelous museum at the very centre of city! And the very professional guide will provide an interesting excursion through all the house for you [ even if you are an only one visitor! ].

This house is beyond beautiful with an interesting family history. A very unique home and, although it’s smaller than Dundurn Castle, the home actually has more to offer in beauty and in engaging stories. So happy I made a trip down to see it. The tour guide was so accommodating and friendly, with a thorough knowledge of the house.

Literally SURROUNDED by homeless encampments. Absolutely horrifyingly scary part of the city and I turned around when I saw the area. They even had a security guard posted by the door! YIKES! Never ever ever going near this place ever again.

Wonderful tour today at this house. Our guide was great and knowledgeable and the history of the family was fascinating. A must visit for anyone who loves a genuine heritage home.

The history behind this house was very interesting.
Not much is curated as everything you see, personal affects, furnishings, and draperies were all donated by the McQuesten family.

It is a nice gem situated in the DT Hamilton. Since all the contents were kept well from the original owner to the city, lots of interesting facts and stories can be easily explored. It is said that one can visit this place free if he/she holds a Hamilton library card. The guided tour is a must to visit the site!

Was looking for something to do on a Sunday and decided on Whitehern House, and I must say we were extremely impressed. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made our tour both interesting and informative. Entry prices are very reasonable and there is plenty of parking nearby. I would highly recommend this museum as well as many of the other historic sites we have here in Hamilton.

Beautiful and authentic historical home and garden. This house has lots of stories to tell! It really is set up better to buy your tickets online ahead of time. Lots of nearby parking at city hall.

Took advantage of heritaweekend in Hamilton and visited Whitehern. Although I have been in the house many times it was my 1st guided tour the tutor guide was excellent and I learned a lot about the house and the family that lived here. Worthwhile!

Very interesting historical property and family story. Guided tours only - make sure you're there at one of the tour times. And if you have a Hamilton library card, you're in for free!

This place was so cool. The staff was so nice. My friend didn’t have a library card but they still gave both of us a free tour and souvenirs afterwards.

Don't go there after 3: 00PM. They won't let you in, because their last tour leaves at 3: 00PM.

The schedule times are a bit misleading. It's really 'open' only until 3: 00PM. I wish I knew that before paying for parking.

Fabulous tour, tour guide great with small kids and answered all question or redirected in a great way

It was a delightful tour. The docent was very informative and attentive. The home was gorgeous filled with memories and contained items that provided historical context of the inhabitants.
