Wilderness Tours

Highly suggested to avoid this place. Got accosted on the river by an entitled river guide who said that the put ins are not for inflatables. Inflatables supposedly are more dangerous than any other watercraft on the river. A photo is attached of a kayaker out of their boat (while we were on the river) for proof that it doesn’t matter what craft you have. He told us that he has seen people die on one rapid, all while he was having paid clients swim that rapid. They also allow SUPs to use their ramps. Hypocrisy at its finest. I’ve seen companies with their head in the clouds, this takes it to an entire new level. It feels like they have stayed in the stone age like the skiers versus snowboard saga that only existed in about 10 peoples head. Avoid spending any money here, they don’t like inclusion and make sure to yell it in your face.

Our family of four (parents and grown kids) had an absolutely wonderful weekend. Our guides were so professional and knowledgeable that we felt very safe, even when we were guiding our own raft. We would highly recommend this adventure!

Terrible service overall, here are a few issues that happened to me that I feel like I have to make a 1 star review, I am a very easy going person but this is just not it.

Rafting was good, the guide was amazing, we had a great time, amazing experience having our boats being flipped over multiple times, very good experience as as an end to the summer.

However,
1. Our rafting trip was moved from 12PM to 7: 30AM, although I understand that sometimes reservation times are not guaranteed, but still we should be informed in advance not by the time we check in. We did not receive any emails regarding the change of time, and of course that impacted our schedule. We should be given some compensations for this but there was none.

2. We checked in on Saturday night for a glamping tent, and we stayed at the one that is closest to the bar underneath. We were not informed that there would be a party with loud DJ music playing from 11PM-2AM, and the music was so loud that made us couldn’t sleep, so we had to do lots of communications and try to get some accommodations from the staff. The staff that talked to us were very nice, but still they couldn’t do much because the party was supposed to happen and there was no staff in the main office. We couldn’t sleep until very late because of this. We should’ve been informed that the noise that the party makes would directly impact the tent.

3. Following the two above, the scheduling is ridiculous, why would you think having people sleeping earliest at 2AM would like to wake up at 6: 30AM to have breakfast then raft at 7: 30AM? This is just crazy and it doesn’t make sense.

4. The staff working at night at the bar had no respect and manner at all. I patiently waited for a long time until he served everyone to ask him a simple question. Then this guy just stared at me, knocked on the window of the pizza warmer, then left in front of me and headed off to the party, not even giving me the chance to ask my question? Pick up your ego and attitude and don’t show it at work for real.

5. After all these happened, we decided to ask for a refund for the services that we haven’t used and then leave. I know that the reception staff are only allowed to follow the policies but clearly they were not trying to give us any compensations or give us the chance to talk to upper management until we describe our situation over and over again for multiple times, they kept saying that they can cancel but cannot refund for us but what is the point then for us to talk at the reception, we wouldn’t ask for a refund even if we feel ok with the services that were provided but we experienced way more bad services than good, given that we know the policy as well.

Never staying at this resort ever again. Terrible experience, and some of the facilities are old and dirty that I do not even want to use if I don’t have to.

If you ride MTB and live in the Valley, you're missing out if you sleep on Wilderness Tours' new Bike Park. Sharkey and Crew have tossed a tonne of work into the trail system that continues to grow.

We had lots of fun whitewater kayaking. The guides and instructors are amazing. Food was good, accommodating special diets.

Elodie and Jay were AMAZING guides. Learned so much in just two short trips, and made lifelong memories.

We booked our trip at 12pm 2 months in advance, and it was moved to 8am 2 5 days prior to the trip without any notice. Loud dj music that would blow your ears off playing until 2am and we had to get up at 6am for breakfast and briefing. Complained about music but wouldn’t stop. They obviously didn’t expect us to sleep before a tiring trip. Washrooms and facilities are not cleaned.

Took a family day trip with Wilderness Tours. Our young boys (6 and 8) had a blast and want to go back again. Lots of adventure and great memories to look back on. The trip down the Ottawa has come up multiple times since we went about a month ago.

Loved everything about the place. Top notch accommodations and food and then there's the rafting!

We went to Wilderness Tours for our 22nd wedding anniversary and to say it was an incredible experience would be an understatement! The rafting, facilities, staff, and overall experience, far exceeded our expectations! We met some incredible people, laughed, hiked, surfed rapids, it was simply a blast!
A special shout-out to our High Adventure guide, Chris T who single handedly made us fall in love with rafting on our first trip out and to our evening festivities crew, Jay and Heidi our awesome bartenders for the weekend, and Chris our musical entertainment, for making us want to stay up way too late and laugh the night away!
Wilderness Tours is an amazing place for a couple looking to get away and try something new or a young family looking to make new memories. They have something for all ages!

Our rafting guide Elodie made our rafting experience the best! Really got the most out of our group and we had a ton of fun doing all of the other activities at the site.

Enjoyed our family rafting trip on Aug 30th. It was our first rafting trip with our 8 year old and 14 year old. It was a 4 hour rafting experience, 17 km in total. After our rafting trip, our kids want to come back again bext yesr. It felt safe, it was fun, rapids were perfect and weather could have been a bit warmer. The entire rafting staff were great and our rafting guide, Katie, was fabulous. Highly recommend.

Absolutely wonderful vacation! My daughter, 8yo, and I staying in the Glamping tents. It was well above my expectations! We did the Family Rafting, which she loved so much that she wants to do more rafting now. We also did the Lazy River. It was a great addition to our vacation! Thanks Brody, Campbell and the rest of the Wilderness Tours crew!

We had the "Main Cabin". It was rustic but had all of the necessary things non-campers prefer. We were worried about safety issues rafting but the instructions, precautions and guides were incredible! We did the 'high' adventure and there were no incidents for my husband and teen kids. Food was good, beach was beautiful. Truly, a great spot for family fun and relaxation.

We booked a rafting trip for my Bachelorette party and it we couldn’t have been happier with the experience. Most of us hadn’t rafted before and our athletic levels varied but we all enjoyed it. It was both exhilarating but felt very safe. Our guide was amazing and had lots of great facts about the river. The activities along the way were a great bonus. Every step of the way was well thought out by Wilderness Tours. The facilities were clean and easy to access before and after rafting. The refreshment at the end was a welcome treat. Honestly couldn’t have been happier. I would gladly come back again and have already been recommending Wilderness Tours to friends. Please do wear the clothing/footwear they recommend in the email you get ahead of time. You will thank yourself if you do.

I did a day of kayaking instruction with Casey at the Ottawa Kayak School. He was an wonderful guide and supportive teacher - I learned a ton. I highly recommend taking a class!

We loved doing river rafting at Wilderness Tours. Lots of games in the resort, friendly staff, and I felt very secure with the guide, Chris Skeletor. The food was good too. Would like to see more vegetarian options.
We didn't stay overnight, but it would have been worth it if we did. Will definitely recommend this company to everyone.

We were two families with teens and a 9 year old and did the family run. Our guide was Élodie who was really good at maneuvering our raft as we were almost all at the beginners stage. She had a great personality and was also bilingual which helped as we had guests of both languages. Because of her, the run was really fun and easy. The only minus was that we had a bit of waiting as all the boats needed to follow each other in case of an emergency. Comprehensible for adults but the children found the wait a bit long, but all in all it was a great day for all!
