AVOID! Their emergency room is incredibly dirty no.it's filthy and the floors look like they haven't been washed in months. I felt gross having to sit there for 8 plus hours with my injured toddler. She had a broken shoulder bone and we sat there for 8 hours without any kind of help before finally deciding to leave to find help somewhere else. Having my toddler sit there with a broken bone crying for 8 hours was such a horrible experience. We left and drove to cheo even though the nurses told us we would wait there longer. We got to cheo and they took her broken bone as priority and we were in an out within a couple of hours. Avoid this emergency room if you have kids. Its worth the drive into the city hospitals. This emerg needs major changes. And it had nothing to do with lack of staff.

Don’t waste your time.

My fiancée was in a lot of pain and was waiting from 2: 00pm and finally got out around 1am. They scheduled in an ultrasound for the next day and were adamant he came for 930 with the ultrasound at 1030, which he did. He then had to wait around all day for the results and was told they couldn’t tell him over the phone or fax to his family doctor. Insane.

Ive been struggling to find a doctor to get some documents signed so I thought that by going to the hospital it would be my last option, so I did and i explained to them I had a injury that hasnt changed its persisting but i also needed some documents to sign which i showed them what it was. I wasnt told no, i ended waiting close to 6 hours which was pretty fast because I thought maybe some had a worse case compared to me of course but then finally my turn came, the doctor took one look at those papers left the room for a few minutes then came back to to tell me he wasnt qualified, i tried to get a answer as to why but he refused which also he didnt even took a look or asked questions of the symptoms i also brought up. I called a few days later because it didnt make sense as to why he said he wasnt qualified, I called the hospital and they told me that it wasnt that he was not qualified its because they dont have time to fill this form, apparently to them it would take a hour to do but whats weird is that very same form is actually less shorter than their wsib form to fill up and yet a previous doctor i met there during my injury took him no less than 20-25 minutes to fill up.

The ERDTriage, staff, nurses, imaging department and doctors we're all so kind and caring. I am greatful for the each person who attended to me and helping me feel relaxed. Thank You!

Probably the worst hospital in and around ottawa, by far. They passed 3 patients in 5: 30hrs.

I have brought mu 13 yrs old son with a seriously injured ankle. He was not able to stand on his foot, I had to ask for a wheelchair, I rode him in chair, waited for 4 hours could not see a doctor or even a nurse… Terrible

Terrible spot. I was here for mental health sat in a room without a single doctor to talk to me in the 7 hours of being here.

We have been here at the Winchester Hospital 8 hours now in the emergency room and still no help. If they could only be decent enough to tell you about how bad the wait is at first at least you could choose to go somewhere else.

Not the emergency department to go to if you want to be looked after in any reasonable amount of time.

Spent 2 days here 1st day 7 hours still was not seen for my niece who is 8 and had a fever so bad she was hallucinating and has symptoms that change day to day and only get worse with time.came back the second day it's been 4 hours and still not seen they have not called 1 person in the last 4 hours and the triage nurse gave dirty looks when we told her about the blisters in her mouth due to her fever.very judgmental and very disappointed

We just had our baby on Thursday and wanted to say thank you for this amazing experience! The ultrasound staff was amazing! Super informative and explained everything throughly, answered.any questions we had the birthing staff was beyond amazing and easy to talk with about our fears and concerns. They helped us with different positions and techniques to help make our way threw contractions (it was our for the first baby). We had some complications that was out of the hospitals control (not there fault) so we had to do an emergency c sections (THIS WAS OUR BIGGEST FEAR AND THEY KNEW). But the nurses were amazing in giving support we are honestly so thankful we went to Winchester and will be recommending them to whoever we know in the future expecting.the doctor for the c section and his crew arrived extremely quick and took amazing care of my lady and our baby girl! The healing process is going extremely good we honestly could not thank Winchester hospital enough for how well they treated us, if the score was out of 10 they get an 100/10! Definitely recommend to anyone expecting!

Waited for 6.5 hrs for my daughter to be seen - she’s asthmatic with vivid symptoms. A doctor whose name I don’t know, Asian decent, said there’s nothing as her lungs are clear. No blood test ; no Covid test; go home and get the antigen test done! She wouldn’t even prescribe her an inhaler! It was too serious that her cough lasted 2 months. The hospital was dirty and the nurses are rude. They take forever to process patients data. They talk and gossip and waste time!

A night nurse would not re fill my mom's pain medication. She even asked her what she did at home
for pain.

My elderly mother inlaw went in to be seen with what I'm sure is pneumonia. Her and my 82 year young father in-law sat for 6 hours. She has Alzheimers and looses bladder control easily. She wasn't seen by 6 pm so being hungry and frustrated they left. This is so so sad.

Was told to go there to avoid slow wait times of other Ottawa area hospitals. Wow were people ever wrong. Got there with a sick child and was told waiting was min. 7 hours! They only had one Dr.in the ER. Our health care system at its worst.

The staff at the sleep lab are incredibly rude and unprofessional. Shame on you! You are supposed to have a good bedside manner. If you don't like working with the public get a job as a speed bump.

Worse hospital experience; will not go back!
On July 17th, I went to get care due to a severe infection. 8.5 hours later, I was seeing by Dr. Wells. I was his last patient.
He pretty much told me they would not do anything for my symptoms until at least 12-14 days after.
My husband (he’s in the medical field) told him what he suspected I had but Dr. Wells said they don’t test for it until I had the symptoms again 12-14 days. At the end he said that the least he could do is give me saline through IV since I waited so long for dehydration. He did blood work because my husband asked him to.
He again hesitated saying it took an hour to get the results back and we would have to wait. By this point what’s another hour.
I was finally sent to do more lab work by my family Doctor and just as my husband suspected is what I have. I am now at the Civic waiting on treatment on day 15 of this infection, lost 9 lbs and is all due to the lack of care and neglect from Winchester Hospital. All this could have been avoided if he actually did his job.
Never go there!

Dr. Bastianelli is a skilled and caring doctor and surgeon. He genuinely wants to help you and solve your health issues.

No food only a few choices of drinks in the vending machine. Not an ounce of food.
5 nurses. 1 working. One keeps playing with her hair, putting it up.again and again.others walking around like zombies.

Great service & great staff at 145am. I had a severe allergic reaction and they took great care of me.

My husband went in last night they made him wait for hours to the point he just got up and left the staff there are just plain rude

Dr. Elzayat was my surgeon for recent surgery I underwent. He is talented, professional and kind. I am very impressed dealing with Dr Elzayat during my successful surgery and subsequent follow up appointments.

Great hospital! Had a C-section here and have also used the emergency. Everyone I met is so pleasant and I can't say enough about the nurses and doctors that helped me with the birth of my son. It's also a quiet hospital compared to other places.

Went last night with my 83 year old Dad. We got there at 5: 45 pm. 15 people ahead of us. They took them all plus the 9 people who showed up after us and 5 1/2 hours later we where still there with now a third round of patients in waiting room. My Dad goes and asks so gently « have they forgot me?  ». The girl at intake responds: « Sir, we are very very busy!  ». From her high tower down wind to this so unimportant person in her busy evening! No empathy, very uncaring culture. A 32 year old sprained ankle arrived at 7: 30 and was seen at 9pm! Yet, you the old man who cam hardly walk you wait your time and more so all the other people showing up before and after you tonight can be seen. Health care in 2021, better not be sick if you are an elder!

The nurses and some of the doctors get 5 + stars! They are very kind, attentive and they go above and beyond. There is a nice little court yard that really helped me when I was at my lowest. The emergency department is like many others- you have to wait. If you go after hours or on the weekend you need to realize it is a small town hospital and things like imaging are closed during that time. Ideally I would rate the staff at 5 stars and the hospital itself at 3.

This is the worst hospital I have ever experienced! It takes a MONTH for someone to call you back regarding appointments. My mom was admitted there and they kept mis-diagnosing her an almost killed her. She ended up having to be emergency transported to another hospital.

I cannot say enough good things about this hospital. Staff is caring and compassionate, appointments are always on time and everything just seems to run like clockwork. A special thank you to Dr El Zayat and Cinnamon in the Ambulatory Care Clinic. You put me at ease today with your kindness, smiles and patience.

If u can make it to another hospital please do! The doctor (I won’t put his name) looked after my husband didn’t have a clue how to treat or what to do, when my husband went there after he fell ill with a stomach flu.after having a heart transplant! I’m not a doctor but I would know that this patient needed to go the heart Institute.but no this doctor sends him home. My husband got worse that evening so we had to go back to Winchester hospital. (The heart Institute does not have an emergency room) I begged the doctor to call the heart Institute and they did. An ambulance took
my husband to the heart institute which he had passed away soon after passed.one phone call could of made a difference.
That was my last experience with Winchester Hospital

My wife and my daughter (4 years old) are still at the hospital at midnight waiting to see someone to just to get UTI medication. Other people going in and seeing someone but my daughter is still there. They would be in and out in 10 min but no my daughter is having to sleep in a waiting room because you have no clue how to do time management. Best believe none of my family will go back to your hospital. I'd rather drive across the city. Absolutely terrible.

My daughter waited almost two hours and forty minutes, but was in so much pain after waiting so long she had to leave. She went to the window and asked how much longer and the receptionist said “I don’t know maybe another four or five hours”. There were ten people in the waiting room when she got there and they were still there after almost three hours. I told my daughter not to go there in the first place since every time I’ve gone there the wait is a minimum four hours even when there is nobody waiting. They need to do something about their ER situation or shut it down.

A very special caring hospital, Dr. Brassard, and all the staff go out of their way to ensure the comfort of the patient and family. With all we are facing at this time, it’s beyond amazing considering the stress everyone is under. This hospital has made the passage of a End of Life patient and family less painful. To each and everyone, my gratitude is beyond words, and my Pride of being a Community member of this great community is moreover the best possible.

Read through the reviews and you will see a common theme for the E. R. You are going to be waiting 6 hours minimum to see a doctor. I have had to take my sons in multiple times in 6 years of living in the area and each time is the same.

You will need to wait 6 hours because there is one doctor on staff. Save yourself some time and drive anywhere else. Kemptville, Cheo, General any of those places.

The only reason why I'm bothering to leave a review is because I think they say 6 hr waiting time to discourage patients from coming to the hospital.

My mother (71) cut her arm and required several stitches - she arrived at the WDMH - 16 March 21 at noon and waited 11.5 hrs. No one tended to her - exhausted my father took her home - duct taped her arm closed and had to bring her back the next day at 08: 30 hrs where she is currently waiting for treatment. We support this hospital and have resided in the area for many years. This is completely unacceptable treatment especially during a pandemic.

My wife and I had a great experience with this hospital. The staff are extremely professional, very polite, caring and friendly.

Three people in the waiting room. One lady had been there over 5 hours and was still waiting. I was there 3.5 hours. I didn’t get to see a doctor. 6 nurses all standing behind the counter together chatting and laughing while we desperately awaited a doctor. They are a joke there DO NOT GO TO THEM.

Great staff, nurses and doctors were very accommodating and friendly. Completely different from any ottawa based hospitals.

My daughter went in to Winchester in May (2020) to have a baby. During labour, she was asked about a room. She ended up in what she thought was a semi-private room because there was another bed with no one in it. She assumed that during the height of COVID, that they were only putting one person per room so didn’t give it another thought until she got a bill for over $300! Not impressed. You shouldn’t have been putting more than one person per room during COVID and I don’t believe she should have been charged.

I was so worried about my imaging diagnosis. The team at the breast cancer unit is so caring and positive and reassuring. They’ve talked to me and explained every steps in the most comforting way. The lady at the mammogram was so gentle and respectful! Zero pain, she respected my limits!
They will never leave you in the dark! When you have to go through a mammogram or ultrasound for your breast this is definitely the place to go in Ottawa!
Those 2 ladies are just the best! Thank you so much for making my nightmare just a bad dream

Can't thank them enough for a very positive and more then excellent experience I had with the hospital, nurses and anesthesia doctor really I was lucky to have a fantastic team though my admission in the hospital.specially
Doctor Perron who made my procedure in the hospital really what a professional doctor every single advice he gave it to me it was in place.
After discharge they called me twice to make sure my recovery is going well thanks for the head of nurses for the follow up.

I went there Sunday 10 am with appendicitis every member of staff administration, janitorial, doctors nurses and surgeon were all very courteous helpful and rocked there jobs to have me back home safe and sound 10hrs later. Thank you staff for everything!

INCREDIBLE INCREDIBLE INCREDIBLE STAFF! Literally saved my life! I never felt like a number, unlike other hospital experiences, with the staff really taking the time to make sure you get better! Spent about a month with them a couple years ago and will always be grateful for the care they gave me at one of the scariest times of my life!

I recently had to visit the emergency department at Winchester District Memorial Hospital. I was in excruciating pain in what turned out to be a twisted fallopian tube caused by a cyst on my ovary.from the emergency room staff, the diagnostic department staff and the OR staff.the care and compassion I saw in all of their eyes made me feel everything would be ok. I really wish I remembered some of their names, but between the pain and pain meds I don't remember. I do want to thank everyone who helped me that night. It's been less than a week since I had the surgery and am healing quite well. So a very Big Thank You to all at Winchester District Memorial Hospital.

This has to be the biggest disappointment of a hospital I have ever seen. My 74 year old grandfather had the most minor injury ever. He got a fish hook stuck in his hand and we couldn't get it out ourselves so we had no choice but to go. So we get there triage was really fast but thats when the longest wait I have ever experienced happened. We waited from 4pm to 10: 30pm before we got to the assessment room. Keep in mind I couldn't stay with him the whole time. So from 10: 30 to 11: 30 still waiting FINALLY at 12 am we get a doctor. Not impressed literally the worst hospitsl around one girl was in excruciating pain and they didn't even look twice at her. I wanna give them -5 stars but maybe a call to the CEO will make a difference

If you want to survive don’t go to the ER! Non caring people in triage, they don’t seem to interested in what they are there for. I actually would have gave them 0 stars but option not available.

Waited over 5 hours in the emergency. Hardly anyone in the waiting room. My son was there with second degree burns on most of his leg and had been up all night working night shift. Dont know how they rated him so low in urgency. Arrived at 2 p.m. And we finally left at 7 p.m. To seek medical attention at local clinic. Would not recommend going there.

Phenomenal team at WDMH! We've been to the emergency department multiple times for us adults and our child and always top quality care, diagnosis, and urgency. We also had our daughter in their maternity ward and this team should receive awards and raises. This was our first child and they made us feel calm and comfortable, especially Katrina, Stacie, and the anesthesiologist Dr. Prins.

I was nervous about my scan the staff made me feel comfortable. The volunteers guided me to where I had to go. Thanks to everyone

Got here at 8: 30 on Monday morning. Knee issues. Can't walk. Was tiraged quickly then sat for 3 and half hours in emergency even though there were only two people ahead of me.
Phoned the CEO and complained. Seems nothing done. I am still waiting as we approach 4 hours since I got here

Came in at 1: 30 am aug 10 2019.
I had severe stomach pains and was immediately taken into the ER.
I was taken care of extremely well by all staff.
After a diagnosis of appendacitis the surgeon was immediately called and i was taken into surgery early afternoon.
Everything was explained clearly and precisely.
Afterwards my family was notifies promptly of my situation and i was taken to recovery.
The nurses were AMAZING!

My mother had to go in for a day surgery, her SCHEDULED time was at 1pm. From the moment we walked in, the staff was rude. My mother was already stressed and anxious. They take her in as I wait for her. This was suppose to be a 15 min appointment. 2 hours go by and I hear nothing, no updated. So I call, they tell me she hasn’t even went in yet! After 2 hours of being hooked up to the IV’s she hasn’t even went in, i asked if I can go see her they said no I also asked for an estimated time of when she’d be going in they said they couldn’t give me that information. Another hour goes by and I see her come out crying. They told her they couldn’t take her and to come back Friday! AFTER 3 HOURS with no updates. I was truly shocked and disgusted

The staff is awesome here. We just had our second child at Winchester and I highly highly recommend going here. I can't speak enough about how awesome the staff is

Unprofessional staff at Emerg, had to go to another hospital for my case to be taken seriously which resulted in me receiving critical care. If you have something serious go to the city.

Please, if you feel there is something majorly wrong with you DO NOT GO HERE. Was misdiagnosed months ago, she told me I was wasting my time there and I just had a chest cold. She was wrong! Just came out of the Doc office with a prescription for antibiotics and an inhaler. Reocurring infection has been lingering in my system for months and triggered on asthma. Shame on this hospital.

Wow! What a disappointment and complete waste of time. It shouldn't surprise me or anyone that our medical system and doctors are very close to third world countries. I'm not sure what doctors would do if there wasn't tylenol.
My advice unless you have blood coming out of every orifice of your entire body or you have no vital signs this emergency center or any other should be the last place to go looking for help.

This hospital has been nothing but amazing. Staff is caring and knowlegable and made me feel comfortable for my first surgery. The surgery went smoothly with no complications, they also followed up with me on how I was doing during recovery. I've also come for day appointments, yes I've waited longer than expect but that happens in hospitals. I will continue to go to this hospital.

Worst experience of all. I have had bad experiences but this is the worst! Went in for my little daughter with earache and coughing and fever she was crying and crying but no attention whatsover. Fact: Children should be given priority.
We waited and waited and waited and just left as after along wait even the patients ahead of us were not yet called in!
Ridiculous and unbearable. Avoid this place! I would rather drive an extra hour for another hospital that shows some care at least for little ones who can't wait. They are just little, they are not expected to be able to wait for such long hours. Come on Canada you need to fix this, wait which century are we in?
Just shameful!

Chose this hospital over Cornwall as I thought no ER could be worse than Cornwall. I was wrong. This hospital should be shut down and the staff should be fired for how useless they are
