The food was amazing and the service was even better! Being Somali I was proud to see a restaurant that serves the motherland’s food while being clean and well managed! I’ll definitely be back!
This restaurant is always such an amazing experience. The service was amazing and food was prepared fresh. Owners are also so sweet! Ambience is amazing! Would 100000% recommend
A friend recommended this restaurant to me and i was so glad she did delicious food also the cashier was very helpful recommending dishes as it was my first time there i’ll definitely be back for more soon
Tried 3 dishes. Chicken platter, falafel platter & mix chicken kabob with beef Tikka. The amount of meat is low. The platters are missing potatoes sauces. Although the taste was good. There’s a difference between Shawarma platters & normal kabob platters missing that.
Xawaash is a cozy Somali restaurant located on Queens Plate Drive in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada. The restaurant is known for its flavorful Somali cuisine, friendly service, and welcoming atmosphere.
The interior of the restaurant is small but inviting, with colorful decor and comfortable seating. The overall ambiance is casual and laid-back, making it a great spot for a casual meal with friends or family.
The menu at Xawaash is focused on traditional Somali dishes, such as sambusas, chicken suqaar, and goat stew. The dishes are made with fresh, high-quality ingredients and are prepared with care to ensure that each one is flavorful and delicious.
One of the standout dishes at Xawaash is the Somali rice, which is cooked with a blend of spices and served with your choice of meat or vegetables. The rice is fragrant and flavorful, and pairs perfectly with the tender meat and vegetables.

Overall, Xawaash is a fantastic restaurant that offers an authentic taste of Somali cuisine in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The flavorful dishes, friendly service, and reasonable prices make it a top choice for anyone looking for a delicious meal in Etobicoke, Ontario.
Best food ever, all made with careful care, including their drinks! Food is so good, I and someone else travel from Pickering and North York Toronto to get to the Etobicoke location (closest location I know) every once a week. It’s worth the drive. Nice lovely staff too. We first discovered this from Ubereats and hood hooked since. Today an angry customer caused a scene at their restaurant, he threaten to write a poor review, don’t listen to that idiotic customer. You guys are doing great! I just wish you had more locations throughout Ontario.
I came here with my family and really enjoyed this meal. The staff was very nice and respectful the service was amazing. I would recommend coming here!
If you want amazing Somali food this is the restaurant to go too I stop here multiple times a week and they never miss the meat is so flavourful so much options to choose from
The meat was so tender it melts in your mouth. The samboosa is filled well and very well seasoned. The rice can be better as it lacks some flavour but the tenderness of the lamb makes up for it.
Stumbled across this place randomly. It is advertised as shawarma joint but it is definitely much more than that. Somalian, Yemeni & Mediterranean infused all into one.
Ambiance: not much, this place has a lot of potential as it is fairly large from the inside. There are Tv screens on each of the booth, which frankly took up space as they served no other purpose as it was off. They can make the most of the place by sprucing up the decor. I would say however that it was a clean establishment. So go for the food & not the ambiance.
Food: the food is what makes this place: everything from the samosas (both chicken and beef were delicious. The Chicken Mandi was not only delicious but the portions were very large. The Chicken Sukaar bowl was also well portioned and the chicken stew was tasty. The rice was also flavorful. Everything we tried was prepared fresh and was infused with flavour. The pineapple juice is also made fresh in house. I ended the meal with a tea and that was a disappointment.
Service: despite the long line ups, the service was quick. We also did receive our food in a timely manner. They do have the part of the menu on the screen but it can be very overwhelming as they serve a variety of different food. I had to look up the menu on my phone in line.
They messed up our order but they rectified it immediately and gave us complementary food.cheers keep up the good service will come again and the portion and the food was amazing, recommend the lamb mandiii
I ordered chicken and rice and got lots of rice with a couple shreads of chicken. I ordered on Uber eats. Basically I paid twenty something dollars for rice. What a rip off. Never again.
Great portions but quite pricy. They got the best samosas in town. Service wasn't great though, pretty understaffed and waited a long time and got the wrong order. Lots of potential if the place was organized
Amazing service and amazing food. Especially love their Somali black tea and fried chicken legs along with rice and salad. This time also tried their lamb chops which was soft and tender, however I wasn't impressed with their hummus. My all time favourite are their samosas with their spicy chutney
Got a shawarma poutine, the meat was very dry because the worker didn’t put any sauce on top which was shown in the picture on their menu. Very disappointing
No pictures to share because I ate all the food! There will be a next time for sure, Insha'Allah. The Chicken Mandi was scrumptious with a cross between the charcoal grilled flavour and a marinade to die for; then plated on a bed of the jeweled rice, it can't get better than that. In addition the food is Halal which is comforting to me because we are eating Blessed food The dessert I had was the Date Cake and as described on Uber Eats menu, "Moist cake permeated with a toffee sauce. " Well that description is stands true in your mouth!
First time eating at this restaurant yesterday and I couldn’t stop eating! Delicious food and really great serving sizes. Would definitely recommend eating here!
Two out of three people were not wearing masks when I placed an order and picked it up. Food was good, but extremely over priced. $45 dollars for two meals.
My experience with Xawaash was very pleasent. Their catering services for my daughter's wedding was beyond my expectations. They went above and beyond. The food and the packaging was 10/10. My experience with Xawaash was very professional. Defitnetly recommend!
Poor custmer service I asked sauce on the side for shawarma platter instead of on the top they said we charge extra for that just to put sauce in the side I never saw any place to charge for this
I been going to this location since the day they opened up. I love the falafel wrap and chicken kofta wrap is to die for! Don’t forget to try their spicy sauce. Bread is made on site so it’s always fresh and hot. I do not have any complains. Be patience when you order, it will be worth it. For me 5 star is not enough this should be 8 star rating.
Good food! Went here to try it out as something new. Got the lamb and the chicken/beef koftas. Pleasantly surprised! Food was good and tasty great portion sizes as well.
Stopped in for dinner before catching a flight home to Vancouver. I always try and find a sweet little local spot with good food and I lucked out! So good. If your not eating here yet, go and spend all your money here. It is that good. I had the Lamb Mandi roasted lamb shoulder dinner with a lamb fatayer on the side. Holy smokes it was good. The hot sauce! Unreal. Definitely a gem of a spot for food in Etobicoke! Highly recommend it to anyone and remember it is always important to support your local restaurants!
Xawaash serves up wonderful Somali food: in case you are wondering, it is not too spicy (unless you order it that way), but rather than spicy-hot, it is fragrant and flavourful. My mom and I love this place, and often order the Xawaash bowl, which contains a little bit of everything. Oh, and their rice is excellent. I don't know how they manage to make it so good. The various breads are also varied and delicious.
Ordered the platter for 20 for a lunch and the food and service was great. 100% recommend ordering from here. Was a little difficult to order ahead of time on the phone the night before because they were busy but it worked out.
Excellent quality ingredients, with good portion sizes and amazing taste. I've been coming here for 6 years, and they're consistent every time. I wish they brought back the lamb shank on the menu.
Firstly these picture don't do justice to how good the food is. My love for middlewastern food is never ending and while scrolling through uber eats I saw @xawaash and thought to give it a try
And OMG we have already order it so many times . . It's a Somalian restaurant so you can eat mild ti spicy to very spicy
Absolutely fresh and perfectly cooked Although I'm a lamb lover but xawashs chicken mandi is beyond good with amazing portion size!
This place is superb and spacious, the menu was enchanting and the prices were very reasonable.fast, productive service and very amiable staff members. Will definitely recommend this spot.
Great food. Best kabobs and juicy kofta. The only issue with this place is that the service is very slow. Even when there is no customer. Expect 15 to 20min wait time before the good is served. But I guess wait is ok for such delicious food.
Amazing food and service. The kebob and lamb chop combo is to die for, the lamp easily splits with flavor when torn apart, the rice is well season you can taste a hint or cilantro, you can just eat it by it's self. The salad ties in nice with the different flavors and aromas, mango drink is a must. To top it off, each table has a smart tv you can watch whatever you want, from Netflix to youtube.
Great Somali food in the west end of Toronto. The price is reasonable, portions are generous and the service is a bit slow. I enjoyed eating at this African restaurant!
Whether you are a fan of Somali cuisine, or just trying it for the first time, Xawaash is hands down a top choice! Also note worthy, the Sambosa is by far one of the best I have ever had!
One of the best East African/Mediterranean cuisine in Toronto for sure. You will find exceptional customer service, clean and family friendly environment. The owners are great friendly people, I will definitely come back the next time I visit Canada!
What a fantastic place the atmosphere was amazing and the setup of the restaurant was fantastic the staff was very friendly a friend of mine took me here I had never experienced Somalian food before and I had no idea of how diverse it truly was I've been back there a number of times trying different dishes and I will continue to go back there as the food in the staff are amazing
This place was OK. Inside was pretty clean and they have nice booths and tables. I ordered the beef steak and it didn't feel like a steak at all. It would've been better on a sandwich. Plus everything was on the menu is a little on the pricey side. The date cake was pretty good but also expensive. The service is lacking some organization but other than that they were prompt with the food.
Surprised by the great reviews and rating. This place is just satisfactory at best. Their restaurant is clean but their service and food is not the best. They took a very long time to get our order and forgot about my tea. We ordered a chicken kebab with salad, but the cashier did not inform us that we had salad options to pick from, they just defaulted our order to the standard house salad which was not the best. Moreover, I ordered a tea which was never served until I reminded them. I don’t see my self visiting this restaurant anytime soon and don’t recommend it.
My first time having contemporary Somali food and it was amazing! The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. The spices are different than your average Mediterranean cuisine. I recommend the beef steak with rice served in a communal tray from which everyone can eat out of. Highly recommend the date cake for dessert, it's warm, soft and topped with caramel and vanilla ice cream. The staff was very friendly, and the service was fast. There's ample seating and a nice family friendly atmosphere.
The owners are very kind and welcome. They serve ayran with sugar, but I asked ayran without sugar, lady said okey "I will do special ayran for you" and did it. It was fantastic and I felt myself like in my home. Taste of foods were awesome. I really recommend this friendly guy's place.
So far what I tried there was good stuff, I have to go back to check fully the menu, the place is clean as a whistle and it's also cousy, check it out if you are in the area. The owner himself is there most of the time and he makes it feel like home.
I have been to this place many times with my family and friends and hands down the best mandi and every dish we have tried was amazing the staff was always smiling and the owners are always so welcoming I find reasons to go there
Good food a bit overpriced and when busy it takes time for your food to come but very nice dining area with mini TVs and wifi always come here for lunch
Delicious, flavorful vegetarian options! Ample seating, clean bathrooms and the best falafel I've ever had. Serves a cinnamon/ nutmeg scented aromatic Somali coffee that I've yet to try~
Food was fresh and delicious! I ate my whole platter of lamb mandi, and asked for no rice. It was so good. Husby ate all his chicken kofta too, these platters were big! We tried a beef samosa too and really liked it. Will definitely visit again. Thank you!
The food was amazing also the customer service was great, they treat you with dignity and respect, it was lovely I will recommended this restaurant to anyone I love Somali food and it was amazing Somali
