The best veterinarian I’ve ever taken my pets to. They are wonderful with pets and people. Highly compassionate and conscientious care.

Me and my mom and dad just brought in my dog who passed away early this am. The lady who guided us in through the back door stood there talking to us beforehand. This lady had terrible manners. She made multiple inappropriate and disrespectful remarks about how we should have brought him to the emergency vet in london. My mom called yates last night while they were opened and we were told there was no exceptions and that we must come in at 11: 30. My mom, we well as me worried called the london emergency vet. They informed us that unfortunately they won’t be able to guarantee their help, as they only had one vet in that night. My mom explained that multiple times to this very ignorant lady. Yet she still had remarks about how we “could have tried”. This was a horrible thing for me and my family to go through, and this lady’s manners were disgusting. We were told there was no hope until the morning, we listened to the professionals. This lady cause an extreme amount of extra stress and anxiety onto us. She had no right to act the way she did, in disappointment that this is the way people are treating people now. We were guided into a room for further conversation etc. The lady in their was amazing very sympathetic and kind. Thankfully this lady caused me and my family to not say something then and there. But considering I jus had to see my best friends dead, she was out of line! Not happy with our experience.

I cannot even begin to tell you the empathy everyone showed us, Laura was beyond amazing, we brought our beloved max in as he had to be put down, max was my daughters bunny, her best friend.
They were beyond amazing and showed us so much love.
I would give this place a 100 ️ if I could.

We have been customers of Yates for over 30 years and the last couple of years we were not impressed with the level of care concern or knowledge (vets excluded) but my recent interactions before during and after today's visit has regained my loyalty! The new vet was lovely and staff were very pleasant and welcoming! Good job

Under new management, customer of 15 years and would never return after Gord and Greg retired. This new ownership is about just one thing, $$$$.

I know that there were some struggles during lockdown but it has been wonderful to go back these last two time. Efficient, kind and thoughtful staff.

We met the new doctor, doctor Ivan today and he was absolutely fantastic. We were unsure to be honest with you if we were going to stay at this Vet as we had some conflicting information in the past. Doctor Ivan knew exactly what was wrong with our cat and was able to offer a treatment that suited us all. We are looking forward to many more years at Yates and hope that doctor Ivan will be around for those.

NOT ACCOMMODATING AT ALL. EVEN FOR REPEAT CUSTOMERS. NO HELP. DIDN'T GO THROUGH PANDEMIC, SO NOW THEY WONT SEE MY DOG AT ALL?

I have been going here for years. Sounds like they are under new ownership. Called for an appointment.the next one is October! 6 months out.

Called earlier today to get Flea and Tick Medication. Was heading into Woodstock this afternoon, so called ahead so that I could pick it up. Was told that it would be 3 - 5 days and they would call when it was ready. Why would it take so long to grab a box of this medication off their shelf and set it aside. At the same time I thought that I would be proactive and make the appointment for his annual shots as he is due in May. What a shock when I was told that I could not get in until October for his shots that are due in May. We have been a long time client and I am sure that Glen and Gord would be appalled by having their name attached to this business that they built and were so dedicated to. They went out of their way with service. I remember calling after hours because our pup had eaten something he should not have and we were concerned. Glen said, I will meet you at the office in 20 minutes to check him out. It seems like the personal care and attention that we were accustomed to will no longer be available. The new company (as I heard it was a corporation) that purchased the business should not be using the Yates name as it is now giving the name a bad reputation.

My family has used Yates for years. Never had an issue. Always kind and polite. Same day apts made available. Reliable and affordable. Even when I moved out of town and got a dog of my own I still made the drive to Woodstock. After the brothers retired it changed for the worse. I had to call multiple times to even get someone to answer, and when they do, you’re put on hold for 10 mins before they actually answer. Apts months out. My dog needed his teeth examined. My apt was in the lobby with everyone around which was very uncomfortable. I was then charged $140 for “blood work”. To then be quoted an audacious amount of $1600 to clean his teeth after. This should be quoted before you make someone pay for blood work. Teeth cleaning at Yates used to be 1/3 of this price. Never got a follow up call. Never got a call or reminder for my dogs yearly shots. It’s sad to say, but I will never be bringing my pets back here. Seems they are in it for the money and not the care of animals.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped us with having to say goodbye to our Jake. Dr. Markle and her staff are amazing people who are caring and show compassion everytime were there towards our furry family members. We will always use your services for all our furbaby needs.

Had to take my best friend to another vet as i had tried for 2 days to book an appointment to have my dog put down.very frustrating and unprofessional.

Very happy to hear vet really enjoyed working with Lia. No anxiety with Lia at all. Got top notch report on her health teeth and behavior. Thank you very much for awsome visit.

After multiple attempts at trying to get an appointment and being unsuccessful, Today was the last straw, I was told I could join their online service which will allow me to take a picture of my dog’s area of injury/issue that I’m concerned about and a vet will review it and a prescription will be filled for me to pickup at the clinic. This service will cost me “3x” what a physical visit to the vet would cost and would I be interested in signing up? HELL NO! The purpose of a physical exam is just that… it’s a physical exam to find and confirm the cause of the injury/issue! I’m done! Dr. Yates was a wonderful doctor and will be greatly missed!

We had to put to rest our family dog this year and Yates Vet did an excellent job with sympathy & professionalism. They even mailed us a sympathy card. Very thoughtful.

Called to ask to get my dog in with an abcess foot. No appointment available. Only option is to call everyday to see if there are any cancelations. WHAT! I cannot believe that I have to wait and not even be able to get an appointment.

This used to be my number 1 vet, I used to drive from Toronto to Woodstook not because it was the most affordable one, but because I loved the doct.
I made an appointment for an emergency that for them it was not one. I waited 4 months for my appointment and few days before the due date I called to check prices, and to my surprise not only they canceled my appointment without my knowledge and give it to some one else but never bother to gave me a new date. Good thing I called other wise I would have wasted gas for nothing. NEVER WILL BOOK HERE AGAIN.
I recommend everyone to ask for email confirmation. DONT TRUST THEIR WORD.

New ownership, and now the Yates brother's name is getting ruined by the service. No such thing as getting your pet in asap due to emergency, even the receptionist said my cat needed to be seen asap and I said ok I will bring him up and she says no you need to go somewhere else like the emergency hospital in Kitchener.
Can't even get my pets prescription in a timely manner. So fed up and am looking for a new vet. Been a client for over 15 yrs.
Yate brothers would have seen my pet that day. Wish they would come back.

Best vet around! This was written 3 years ago. They WERE the best vet around. Zero stars should be an option since the Yates’ retired and sold their business to these sheisters. The dishonesty alone is leaving me beyond words, never mind that they’ve got my money and my son’s priceless therapy cat is dying. I’d love to see them out of business for their lack of professionalism, to put it politely. Can anyone recommend a decent honest animal loving vet to us?

The quality of care provided has changed dramatically now that the Yates brothers have retired and the business was purchased by others. The phone is always busy. If you do get through you are put on hold.

I have called twice in the past couple of months requesting a refill of medication for my cat who suffers from recurring respiratory issues. The first time it took 5 DAYS to get the refill. This time. I am still waiting and it has been over a week. In the meantime my cat gets worse with each day that passes.

Today I called asking if the prescription was ready, only to be told that it hadn't been filled yet. Day 7, by the way. I was told the request would be "flagged" for filling today. I still do not have the medication.

I understand they are busy and are likely experiencing growing pains as they settle into their new business but I can't help but question how a pharmacy can fill hundreds of prescriptions in a day and this Veterinary office has a recorded message telling you they need 3 to 5 days and then still can't deliver.

I have been a long-time client of Yates, but since the brothers retired, everything has changed. The phone doesn't get answered, you can't book appointments in a timely manner, no emergency response. I called about an urgent matter and they wanted to book me 6 weeks out! It had been over one year since they had seen the pet in-person so would not even consider dispensing medication for a recurring issue without an in person visit. 6 weeks from now! The cat could be dead by then but there is little care or concern for animals.not like it used to be. Looking for a new vet.any recommendations out there?

I have been with Yates for 20 plus years. They where always very good and cared for your animal's but since the brother's have sold the business it has gone down hill drastically. Phone is slways busy and if you get through they put you on hold for 15 minutes or more. Hard to get appointments if you need one right away. If things don't improve they out of business very soon.

When I arrived in Woodstock 11 years ago, I was thrilled to find Yates. They were kind, easy to deal with and seemed to be in it for the care of animals.it also helped that their prices were reasonable and they offered Emergency services. Something that I truly value in a veterinary office. I have used it on more than one occasion. I never did mind waiting long for the appt because I felt that they were worth it.

However, I am not so sure anymore. I know that a lot of businesses have been struggling since covid but I feel like they should have got the hang of it by now. It takes me hours to get through to simply book an appointment. They conveniently took away their emergency services and aren't bringing that service back (according to the receptionist), on more than 2 occasions I have waited outside for 45 mins or longer just to pick up a prescription that I had ordered and paid for in advance and when it is finally my turn to get it, it takes the employees forever to find it. Not to mention, my dog is very skittish and has high anxiety when other people handle her and I am not around bc she is old. I asked them if we could figure out a way to make her feel more comfortable during appts through this pandemic. The receptionist told me that there wasn't anything they could do. I called another vet office in town to ask how they could accommodate and they said they could do the appt outside so I could be there with her.

I know they are under new vets and I they are getting computer systems now and what not and thats great for the advancement of the business. I just hope that they eventually get back to what made them stand out amongst all the other vets in town.

I have been with Yates for a few years now and unfortunately the service has gone drastically down hill. The phone line is always busy, if you happen to get through you either sit on hold for 10+ minutes or you get promised a call back that usually never comes or might get returned days later. Appointments never run on time and the whole protocol related to COVID is a mess and very unorganized. It used to be a great place but is now very disappointing.

Not able to go in with your pet. Took over an hour for our vet visit. Paying took a long time to as the receptionist had to come out for the payment back in to run the credit card. Back out with my card, back in for the medication. I sure hope that our next appointment I will be able to go in and ask questions and see how she is with my pets. I don't like handing them off and not knowing how my pet is handled and treated

I have been with Yates for as long as I can remember, and the brothers owned it it was a fantastically run clinic. Since the retirement it has gone drastically downhill. You call and call and call and continued to get a busy signal. And when you do get through they put you on hold. Today I tried to make an appointment for my dog who it could be potentially impacted, I was told to go online and make an appointment with a vet on some websites that will not give my dog a physical examination, and then was told that if it’s an emergency I should go to the london emergency vet clinic which is outrageously expensive, and to make an appointment with Vet online is double the price of what it would be to have an in person appointment. So what’s the point of even having a vet if you’re just gonna get brushed off onto other resources that are extremely expensive. I will be looking for a new vet.

Actually drove to yates with my sick dog because I couldn't contact them by phone and they still would not see him. Had to take him to London to be seen. Not the same office since the yates retired. So disappointed they would not care for one of their sick patients. Will be changing vets and sure more clients will follow.

I am not sure what is happening here, but the service was not as good as it has been in the past.

Took both my cat and dog to Dr Yates and he is very professional it’s very pleasant to go to a vet and my animals are very comfortable with him, Both pets are now spayed and neutered and they did such a wonderful job I’d recommend this vet to anyone and dr merkley she took care of both my cat and dog and did such a great job kind caring people who love animals

Have been going to them for a 11 years i just left Yates as I can no take it anymore there unprofessional they have young kids working from them. I just had a puppy pass away they told me come in got there they made me wait 40 mins in the car with my deceased puppy in my lap as they talk to my wife then told us to go to the back door then I go stand there for 20 mins waiting then a young girl comes out I had to ask her to take my deceased puppy cuz she was more worried about doing the price of his ashes then him being in my arms so she took him and then almost dropped him on the floor cause she wouldn't let me help with the door with the covid protocols. Anyways I'm don't with Yates and there out of date systems and unprofessional employees.

I'd leave zero or negative stars if I could. I used to recommend Yates to everyone I knew, I've dealt with them for over 20 years and always had compassionate care and fair prices, that is until recently. My 7 month old pup was hit by a car, my wife called and told them she was bringing the dog in. She arrived there at 5 pm and was told the vet would be out to get him when he was done with what he was working on. An hour later the vet comes out, tells my wife " sorry we close at 6 ", and that they tried to call another vet in but they couldn't come in. They then told her to go to an emergency clinic 45 minutes away. He then told her " you know, the Yates brothers don't work here anymore". (What the point of this comment was I have no idea). No Kidding, they never would have let my dog suffer like that. They basically left my poor guy suffering in the car for an hour with a broken hip only to tell my wife to take him elsewhere. Had they said they were too busy when she arrived it would not have been a problem to go elsewhere, but to leave him suffering in the car for an hour before this is heartless and completely unprofessional. If you care for your pet at all take them someplace else. Lucky for that vet it was my wife there and not me or I'd be writing this review from jail.

During this difficult time of covid, I found the staff, in particular Crystal, to be kind, patient and just a delight to work with.kudos to the staff at Yates

Yates animal hospital has a very caring and understanding staff, especially at this difficult time. They greet you at the door with a smile and make handing your family member over to them with ease. Very trustworthy people who care about your pet

Dr Yates extremely kind and considerate. We had to euthanize our beautiful bischon Chevy and even under these pandemic rules it was done with dignity.

I love Yates. I was there today for a routine rabies vaccination for one of my cats. All went very well as it always does every year. The costs are very reasonable. Normally, everytime I go in for whatever reason, they are busy. This is because they are so good and kind.
Today, a woman came in out of the blue with an injured dog, the doctor was out in seconds. My heart was racing. I hope her dog is okay. I know that this dog is in the best hands with a staff that care about animals not money. My thanks to the front support staff who witness things I couldn't. Thank you for doing this difficult job and seeing things that I know I couldn't. I love Yates. Thanks for being a great vet to my cats! I appreciate it.

The said that my bill would be $250. When I dropped my cat off then when I went to pick my cat up from Yates my bill was
$450. They knew wat was wrong with my cat.
Their were no complications. Nothing extra was done and they still charged me an extra $200. Then when I brought my dog in to get fixed. Was supposed to be a couple little stitches they butchered the poor thing his belly got all infected. It took a long time to heal. They're cheap but they're not thural.

The Yates brothers (and staff) are AMAZING with animals. They actually care about them unlike most places.

Worse staff ever. I decided to go somewhere where the receptionist were happy for my business and didn't talk trash about customers infront of waiting customers.

I had a puppy emergency in the middle of the night and Dr Yates left his home and met us at the office at 10: 30 pm! He had to put my puppy to sleep to help him and called me back at midnight so I could pick him up! I was so scared and upset and he was there in 20 minutes! I am so thankful for this office!

We have been going to Yates Vetrinary Hospital for about six years. The staff are friendly and caring. Yates are very diligent and always put their animals first.

The Yates brothers are truly the best vets in this area. Countless times I have called so upset because my dog has swallowed this or eaten that. Emergency after hours visits and surgeries that had saved my dogs life. You can really tell they care not only for the animals but the pet owners too. Not to mention they are the most affordable in town. I was told once that they would rather a person be able to afford their pets surgery than to be forced to put them down.

A great place. Best customer service, always friendly staff no matter how busy they are, reasonable charges, caring of animals, very knowledgeable and helpful vets.

Yates is an amazing vet they offer excellent care for your pets. They charge a very reasonable amount for there services beat price in town. I have spoke many other people that take their pets to Yates and have never heard a bad thing, everyone has great things to say. I would highly recommend them.

Hard to get in for appointments BUT it's totally worth it. It's extremely affordable and the vets and vet techs/assistants are very nice. Would be interested in even part-time working there myself. Great place

Great Veterinaria Shop! EVERYONE IS SO KIND AND HELPFUL! Our puppy liked it there too, watching was each new pup or dog came in and using that opportunity to get to know them. Our Meko is a real social butterfly!

Amazing vets. They care about your animals more than your cash - they way it should be. They are there to answer questions and give practical advice. My dogs and I love their vets!
