Please open your doors again and help the public find jobs. This used to be a great resource center.

Helped me fix my resume, gain clothes for interviews, gain interview skills. But didn't help me find employment. I'm still unemployed and struggling financially.

I made an appointment, went to the office early, and waited 20 minutes, tried to enter but the door was locked. I knocked hard and rang the bell frequently, but nobody came to the door. I received a phone call when I got home asking why I did not show up, and was also told that even if I went to the office, I would only be there to sign a form because they want to work virtually? I called back to ask why nobody answers the door, and why the door was locked. The manager said that the bell has not worked in a long time, and the same thing happens to delivery people all the time so they can not deliver them. I asked the manager why you do not fix the bell? Seemed like the obvious solution to the problem, she said they were too busy. I asked when they would open up to the public again, because this center should be supporting people looking for work. She said, no time frame to let the public back in because of covid. Well hiding behind covid seems wrong at this point when everyone else is open. While it is easier for the workers to lock out people looking for work, by not having to deal with them, it is hard for job searchers, who need a resource center with helpful staff, use of computers, and the group job research programs that used to held in these offices before covid. This YES employment center is a waste of the governments money, it is not helping people with basic needs to find employment.

I had a couple of bad experiences with this employment agency. A few years ago, I came to Canada as a refugee and I was looking for a job. YES agents told me they can't help me. However, after I became a permanent resident I have decided to use YES services again. I have an engineering degree and I used YES services specifically to find a job using my degree. Nevertheless, the majority of this agency job advertisements are minimum wage jobs.

Also, a job developer with the name "Richard Haldane" was rude and not professional. He would send minimum wage jobs ads through email and put the title as "Pay the bills job" or would send you a bunch of documents to fill out without giving any clear instructions. Not to mention he wouldn't reply to emails. I can find minimum wage jobs by myself. Thanks, but I don't need your help to do that.

Truly a great place to go for career/life advice. I went in here with very little info about YES and ended up being enrolled in a job skills program the following week. The staff provides a very warm and inclusive environment and will take it upon themselves to ensure you get the assistance you need. An excellent resource, and a real gem.

To those youth or individuals who went and got hired at the Shoppers Drug Mart hiring session on Wednesday, Feb 13, don't you find it odd that we have been laid off 5 or 6 days? Shoppers claimed they "hired too many people" This is pretty disappointing since it is just increasing the numbers that YES can show to the government, by saying "look, we got x amount of youth into Shoppers Drug Mart! Aren't our numbers great? Now fund us more! " It is a tragedy as they are skewing the numbers and asking for money that taxpayers provide, just to get youth hired for 5 or 6 days, working 8 hours a day.
