I went here because my friend loves this place and he still does but he also does not eat sushi just other stuff like skewers and soup. The fish made me ill just like a bunch of other reviewers have said. I should’ve listened to them but my friend wanted me to try for myself which is fair. I did have to rush out I couldn’t even take the train back since I was not feeling well at all; I had to call a cab just so I could get home ASAP to throw up my lunch. I’ve never experienced that before and I never want to again. It did have a good atmosphere though.
This place has a special place in my heart, they deserve a higher rating than they have. The sushi is amazing and I haven’t had an issue with the food taking too long in years
Ordered delivery from here a few days ago. The sushi were presentable and came with miso soup and salad. Soon after finishing eating I for sick. The symptoms only lasted two days. Called the store and the person I spoke with said their fish is fresh. However, it is likely that their sauce was bad.
It's important to set your expectations here. The food is reasonable and some dishes are outright good, but mainly this place is about being a lower priced AYCE, so generally this is a place to go when quantity is a factor. Service is prompt. Selection is very wide.
Their a la carte takeout is also surprisingly decent and usually a little more carefully crafted than the AYCE stuff.
Food is good but not worth $40 for ayce especially when they do not tell you that the price has changed and gone up almost $10 per person Portions extremely small which is good if you want to sample q bunch of items but not good if there is limited it's that you can eat
You only get what you paid for. This sushi ayce is def a good price but the sushi has too much rice so that you can barley taste sushi. And I can see that the cookers hand shape by the rice. I personally love making sushi and I garuntee that I can do better. I am saving your time and money, find somewhere better option.
The two cookers were talking to each other loud without masks. Such a unhygienic atmosphere open kitchen. What is the point of open kitchen then?
I ordered one tempura onion and one tempura squid but I randomly got 6 pieces of tempura onions non squid. I felt like they intentionally try to make me full my tempura onions.
Service was terrible. They put Wasabi to every sushi plates, and our third plate has no Wasabi and our server asked us to reuse Wasabi that we had for second plate which was barley 1/4. I was just embarrassed that I had to scrape for saving a tiny bit of Wasabi in front of my server.
Also when I went Monday morning so we were the only table and still it took a lot to get my food.
Only things I loved were seaweed salad and desert. They were good for sure.
I was 100% willing to come back when I first entered here. However as soon as I got my sushi I changed my mind. Hire better cooker who knows how to make sushi.
I think you go there for eating everything else then sushi, thats fine.
Food is amazing, we always order it from uber eats, we decided to actually sit down and eat inside the restaurant. As always it is the best sashimi I've had hands down in sushi restaurant in KW region, but the place did not feel very welcoming unfortunately. Probably won't eat there in person again but definitely still get uber eats from!
I like this place because it's peaceful and I prefer the way they make nigiri and maki. I come here often enough that they know my order, ha. Good stuff.
Been ordering from them for years. Last few weekends spent over a hundred and this weekend same thing, on food. Tonight like normal. I got what I always did and asked for no ginger or Wasabi as it ruins the food and add extra hot sauce. I got 7 rolls, 2 large orders of calamari and seafood fried rice. I paid $3 for 4 EXTRA tiny hot sauces. Tonight they decided to revise my order to add an EXTRA $2 for the hot sauce on top of the $3, and get absolutely nothing included with the rolls. Period. I don't eat sushi without hot sauce. I can buy a bottle for less than 5 and get over 100 portions for that price. Your greed lost u a lot of money. I will order from Ye's either sportsworld or Waterloo instead. Same food and they don't charge me to get sauce. Sauce should be free with rolls and if u want extra pay extra. Enjoy the $5 I just spent $139. Last weekemd i spent $129. And i tipped the restaurant also. Enjoy my money because it Will be your last from me. The service dining in here is terrible also. Rude to u and watch u like a hawk. How many people I've talked to that has complained about the rudeness. #GreedGetsYouBoycotted
One of the worst places I have ever gone for all you can eat sushi. Walked in and was not greeted after several minutes and when someone acknowledged I was there, they rudely yelled "what do you want? " When I said I wanted a table for 2 they couldn't hear me and screamed "what? " back. The restaurant only had 2 other couples there so it was quite embarrassing as everyone turned to look. The service is very slow - we ordered one round and it took 40 minutes before they came back to get another order. They prioritize UberEats and DoorDash orders over the customers dining in.
I saw another review where someone mentioned they saw someone grab ice without washing their hands so I stayed thirsty for dinner.
Worst customer service, these people don’t know how to greet or treat their customer. Behaves like they don’t care, when you go to pickup your order they don’t even smile at you. All the staff at Yo shushi especially ladies, looks like they are not happy and they don’t even treat customer happily. In terms of hygiene they don’t wash their hands or wear gloves, a lady was working on cash in front of me and without washing her hands she put her hands in ice box and poured lice in a glass and served customer. After all this pandemic at least follow basic hygiene.
I have been coming to this sushi place for a couple years now and it’s definitely always going to be my favourite place. The food is fresh the size of the rolls is perfect and the atmosphere inside the restaurant is great! My only complaint would be the lady at the counter, she is not very friendly.
Went here with a bigger group for a birthday and we were the only table. Within an hour they just stopped serving us sashimi. When asked if that order was coming they simply said they were "out". Even though there were plates of it in the glass window. After telling them thats all we ordered, the girl said emotionlessly "I can check" and "Do you want to order it again". They then brought out a small plate for the table.
When we were finishing up our dessert the staff started clearing our plates with us still around the table. And then there was no one to cash us out so, again I had to say something.
Terrible service, bad communication, expensive to be cut off of sashimi when we barely had any, and unfriendly staff. Better off spending a bit more with a Ye's or Kinkaku.
Fantastic with this price, better than ye’s sushi. The sushi roll not too much rice. Cannot compare with Kinkaku but the price is huge difference right?
BEWARE! I was enjoying my food from uber eats until i chowed down on a sharp piece of plastic either that or a toenail or fingernail, it was white, curved, hard and fingernail sized and sharp, in the Philadelphia roll. I couldn’t tell, i just threw it out because i was disgusted, it was dug into the cream cheese. So yeah, eat elsewhere, these people clearly do not care.
NEVER AGAIN! Tried placing a take out order over the phone. The woman on the phone told me 1 moment, i waited, 1 minute 30 seconds later she came back on line line, this happened 3 times! Then she put another woman on the line and they started back and forth with me. They said come into the restaurant to place order. The total time for their game was 5 minutes 33 seconds. I went in, and the phone rings and the woman on cash takes the order, walks away from me and goes and talks to her co worker. Finally I said " can I place an order or not! " The cashier looks at me as if I have 2 heads then plays a game with the order, like what the heck! I stressed to her that I wanted the noodles with seafood, she charged me for the noodles with seafood, I get home and.its beef! when I went back in to pick up the order, the cashier, no word of a lie THREW THE 2 BAGS AT ME! I will NEVER go back there due to their customer service!
We've been trying take-out from all kinds of sushi places in the Tri-cities during the lockdown (s), and during the lost recent shutdown we've tried Yo Sushi a few times. They're a new top restaurant for us! Where this place shines is their rolls. They're nearly twice as large as anything other sushi rolls we've gotten this year. The rest of their entrees are nothing spectacular; nothing lacking, but also not anything of particular note, either good or bad. But their ROLLS, man. It's well worth the extra dollar or two over the the competition. I can't wait to try out this place's AYCE option when restaurant dining opens back up.
I order yo sushi quite a bit on skip the dishes and they have THE best udon and fried rice i have ever tasted.never ever once have they gotten anything in my order wrong, it's always very bright and pretty and plated (well, packaged) really well.most importantly, always so, so delicious.
If I could give zero stars I sure would. I ordered food and when I entered to pick my meal up, no one was there to assist me, I tried speaking to the sushi chefs or waiters/waitresses but they were all unresponsive and smirked. They had some sort of emotionless look on their face, that similar of a Chinese work shop. A couple seconds later a short Chinese lady comes from the kitchen and stares at me like I committed a homicide, she states: “ what yuuu want? ” I advised her I had an order for pick up. No please, no thank you, on the phone while I’m making my payment. Food quality nothing special.
If you guys want quality sushi, save the money and go to kinaku izakaya, the quality and service is amazing.
Dear Pathetic restaurant yo sushi. Learn customer service.
I've ordered a few times now, and (especially in the pandemic) its the best value for the price. The portions are large and generous. The food is very good, and fresh. No complaints at all! I've ordered though Uber Eats and by phone, and the phone was great! We had a large order (family of 4 adults who love/miss all you can eat) and everything was there, and we were all full we even have leftovers.
I placed an order on ubereats. My order included 4 different rolls and an appetizer. It took more than 1 hr 45 minutes to receive my order. When I got my order, I noticed that one of rolls were not what I ordered. I did contact ubereats about this, provided photos and they refunded for that one roll.
On ubereats, they had 4.2 stars out of 5. This is quite surprising and definitely questionable after my experience tonight. I will never order from this place.
Super friendly staff, super good taste of the food~~visit this place every week or every 2 weeks. The price is quite fair~~ Love the Lampton Sushi (maybe a wrong spelling). I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars.
For some reason I go back. The sushi is good but I know there’s wayyy better places out there but I just seem to come back once in awhile lol I love the chicken skewers and the spicy chicken teriyaki maki rolls and the deserts.that’s literally all I get lol The place is nice and clean, service is a bit slow but they are friendly. Sometimes they miss a few things on the paper but whatever it’s a buffet, not too worried. Not a place to go for a first timer, gotta go somewhere like Kinkaku Izakaya (across City Hall). Always busy, and can’t reserve unless you have 6+ people I don’t even have that many friends
I like to get takeout from this restaurant. The sushi is great and very filling, the spicy crispy salmon roll is my favourite. The sushi pizza is super delicious and always cooked just right.
Terrible service, terrible food. Waitress hovered at our table and took our two cards. She delivered the food and then never once came back. Didn’t pick up anymore orders, didn’t bring everything we ordered, didn’t refill water, and didn’t take dirty plates. Finally another staff member took a couple plates. We were the only customers in the place until 2 more came in, so there was no reason for any delay. We finally gave up and left with an order card still sitting on the table still.
Was pleasantly surprised. Was a little worried as the front door was small and there was not a lot of people. But the food turned out great, there was a lot of variety, food arrived quickly, and presentation was beautiful. Price also more affordable than some of the other options in the area. 1 star off as the soup could have been hotter.
I have been going to this location since they opened many years ago. The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff is very friendly. The quality is great and the price is very reasonable.
Food is mighty fine. On jah, some of the best sushi I’ve had in my entire life. I especially enjoy the tempura handrolls. Would rate higher but the bathroom is kinda sus. The music they play is also very nice and relaxing.
Yes it's a knock off ye's sushi, yes it's amazing. Great prices, great automosphere, always pretty quiet but never dead. Staff is diligent. Just give it a shot, you'll never be satisfied with another sushi place again
This is probably my least favourite AYCE place in KW. The quality and freshness of the ingredients just isn't that good. Still, it's cheaper than Kinkaku, so if you just want to stuff your face you could do worse.
I've been coming here for over a year and today was the last time. The staff in this restaurant really need to stop speaking in their native tongue in front of customers in a derogatory fashion. Unbelievably rude and unprofessional. Also they really should learn to great, say hello and most importantly Thank you for coming.
The place is clean and the service is ok, the presentation is mediocre, so don't bring someone you are trying to impress. The sushi is tasty. Salmon belly is available unlike other places! There are less appetizer options than in other sushi all-you-can-eat.
Went with my wife and kid and I had to order the same thing three times before it came. Every time I asked if everything I ordered came so I know I am not ordering twice, the server said it is coming and then she would say ok order again. So was very confused on what was pending. The menu was on the seat between my wife and I and she came and told us to put the menu by the wall.weird. I have posted the picture of the cheese cake I ordered. All I can say have a lot of patience when you come here as well as order X 2 when getting cheesecake)
Decent quality sushi. It is all you can eat which is great. Some days the service is really good and things are brought at a fast pace. Other days the service is only okay but I have never been to Yo's and received poor service.
Honestly the worst sushi place we've ever eaten at. Go anywhere else.
Sushi was meh, portions were cut badly and the single sushi pieces all the rice was falling off because it wasn't wrapped well.
Service was TERRIBLE. There was us and one other group and we waited over 20 minutes for our second order of sushi rolls, we had to flag them down to remind them that we were waiting for food.
And after 20 minutes you're not hungry anymore, so our group paid $120 for 9 rolls of sushi.
We got a mango cheese roll and we thought the mango was cucumber because it was so green.
Food tasted amazing, great place for takeout more than anything as the staff is very disregarding and unpleasant to communicate with. But still good food for the weekend dinner.
Huge selection, fast, thorough staff. Very friendly. Their rolls are also huge which is AMAZING and I don't mean huge because they put a lot of rice no, but their pieces of fish in the sushi are big and plentiful. I highly recommend this place, and even if you don't have time to dine in, get their takeout or order on skip the dishes, they still have SO many options and it's so good!
Although it was a busy Saturday night yesterday, there was no excuse for the horrendous service we received yesterday. After 30 minutes no sushi, only excuses. In order to appease us the simply slopped some random items on our table that we hadn't ordered. We got up and left.
The sole priority for this place is to satisfy their, presumably, skip the dishes orders. They were stacking up across the counters while the sit down portion of this place was undeserved and ignored. Never again.
Respect is a virtuous trait that the Japanese hold in high regards. Yo sushi does not represent those values. My girlfriend and I were planning a nice lunch and she told me how great the food was. Given I was satisfied with my meal, the service/rules seemed to have been bent when it came to our order timing, due to our younger age. We had arrived at 2: 30 for the lunch special. We had a lovely time before the waitress informed us at 2: 58 that if we were to order anything else we would be charged for dinner. Kudos to the chef, for the meal was splendid, but to the shrew who tried to scam us I say good day. I SAID GOOD DAY!
I have been to many different sushi places because it is my all-time favourite food, but out of all of them I come here the most. The lunch special for all you can eat is affordable, and the quality of the food has never been bad in all the times I’ve went.
This is my favourite sushi restaurant in all of KW. I have been going here for years and the sushi is so tasty and well made. My mom and I have been coming here for a long time and Cindy has always been there to make us feel welcome and at home. Amazing dining experience always.
Their website and everything posted says they close at 1030 arrived at 935 and they said it was closed and would not surve me drove spent 30$ on a cab to get there
Tired of waiting for an hour at Kinkaku? Check out this place just a five min walk from city hall. Good food. Fast service. Always seats available. Large menu to choose from.
