Dr. David Donohue is a kind, gentle and thorough vet. We brought our two cats to him for 16 years. One of them had a unique condition, but we were able to control it with Dr. Donohue's treatment of our beloved cat. We just brought our new rescue dog to him, and his kindness helped our dog, a traumatized rescue, get through her first check-up. By the end of the visit, she was happy and enjoying treats. We highly recommend Dr. Donahue and his wonderful staff!

We’ve struggled finding a vet for our very feisty dog Bella! She loves York Mills Animal hospital and the lovely people working there - and the best her favourite vet - Dr. David Donahue! We’re so grateful to have found you!

Everyone at this clinic is amazing. Have referred many people here and will continue to do so. A pet is family! A peace of mind when all the staff cares.

I have been bringing my, high energy and excitable, 2 dogs to this practice for 18 months and have found the doctors to be knowledgeable, patient and understanding. We always get a warm welcome and I would highly recommend them.

Dr David is amazing with my cats. One of them is quite aggressive and he knows just how to handle him. He is patient with them which makes all the difference.

I brought my dog here a few weeks ago with blood in her stool, and they dismissed it as nothing without doing any tests.
Today she started having bloody stool again and I took her to another vet hospital where they did extensive blood work and found that she has pancreatitis.
Cost me $700 because it wasn't caught earlier and now she needs medication, dietary changes and lots of fluids.their negligence might end up costing my dog an invasive surgery.
So disappointed with this place. All they care about is charging you the visitation fee, and they don't even spend 5 minutes with your pet to check anything.
Never going back.

The whole team is very patient especially because my dog is reactive. They take the time to make him feel as comfort as possible and really respect my dog while assessing him.

I have been seeing Dr. David and Dr. Grace since I brought my pup home 71/2 years ago. When they joined York Mills Animal Clinic there was no doubt in my mind that I was following them. The whole staff there is wonderful and treat us so well. Most importantly, TBear loves going there. He walks in a happy boy and leaves even happier after receiving TLC and treats! Thank you sooooo much.

Addendum: TBear is now 11.5 years old. Yesterday we saw Dr. Grace. TBear was so excited to see her. Our visits to York Mills Animal Hospital are always great. All the staff are so warm and welcoming.

I called this hospital today for my cat and they were so comforting on the phone. They took me right away. When I got there the lovely lady at the door welcomed me and was so kind. The care I got from all the staff was above and beyond. The veteranarian explained everything very well. I'm so glad I found you. See you soon.

We have had our dogs under the care of Dr. David and Dr. Grace for many years. They are knowledgeable, efficient and above all both very caring and empathetic. Our dog was in critical condition some time ago and their expertise stabilized her. They then organized her swift transfer for emergency surgery which went well. I can’t say enough about them.
Their clerical staff and assistants are super as well.

Yesterday, I had to make one of the hardest decisions of my life to end the suffering of my beloved best friend of over 15 years. I struggle with mental health and my fur baby served as both an emotional support and companion, providing me with unconditional love and managing to make me laugh every single day despite the severity of my condition.
It was not an easy decision by any means to make, and I am utterly heartbroken with her loss. I want to take this opportunity to thank the staff at York Mills Animal Hospital for their unwavering support, care, empathy and compassion during these difficult times and for their expertise throughout the years.
With the guidance of Dr. David Donahue and the very competent and compassionate vet techs Allison and Nicole, we were able to beat her feline diabetes by bringing her into remission.
This was a remarkable accomplishment as she was already geriatric at the time and suffering from IBD. Through their guidance, I was armed with the exact information on what to do during an hypoglycemic emergency. Allison, whose cat is also diabetic, was very informative and empathetic to my situation, and reminded me of these vital life saving instructions when my own fur baby was diagnosed with diabetes. These instructions (rubbing maple syrup or corn syrup on the gums and feeding immediately) saved the life of my beloved girl when she experienced a full on, violent, grand mal seizure during the middle of the night. She made it out alive, with only a chipped tooth as a lingering complication.
Once the office opened up I brought her in, and I was told she was now in remission. It was both elating to know she no longer needed insulin yet scary to find out that for many patients, a seizure is the indicator it is no longer required. But I had been prepared thanks to their instructions and frequent appointments for glucose curves to adjust her insulin level accordingly.
Unfortunately, as a geriatric cat unresponsive to treatment for IBD, she eventually became unable to live a normal, stress free life as a cat should. I debated back and forth whether to let her go and cannot thank enough the unbelievable support of Nicole, who willingly, and without judgment, took on my MANY questions and who shared with me her professional opinion and the stances shared by the veterinarians. She and Dr. David Donahue were very honest in her prognosis, and that it would not get better for her, and let me know that when I was ready, it would be time. I needed to hear this honest feedback from them, as they see this sort of thing everyday.
With that in mind, I chose to spend a little more time with my beloved, who to me, was like a daughter, and during this time, I kept in contact with Nicole, who again showed no judgment or disappointment in me when I kept changing my mind and cancelling her final appointment. She made sure I was not feeling selfish or guilty by keeping her longer but also compassionately reminded me that it really was her time to go, when I felt ready, as they had exhausted all avenues to no avail, and that it was likely that she had progressed to having a lymphoma, as can be common with unresponsive IBD.
I cannot thank Nicole enough for being there, not only for my "daughter" but for me as well. She is aware of my struggles with mental health and during my frequent calls to the clinic, she not only asked how my baby was doing, but made sure to ask how I am doing - she showed a sincere concern for both of our well beings that went above and beyond her position as a vet tech, and to be quite frank, showed a level of compassion for my suffering beyond that of even some nurses and doctors I have had the misfortune of encountering in hospitals. Likewise with Allison, who kept me laughing with updates during my baby's scary 4 day hospital stay. Dr. David and Nicole were with me during her euthanasia and even talked to her calmly with me as she passed, telling her she no longer had to suffer. To all of you, Dr. David, Nicole, Allison, Dr. Kwan and staff, I offer my most heartfelt gratitude and thanks.

I was referred here by a shelter after I adopted a cat. The vet I initially saw elsewhere said my cat had really bad stomatitis and would need all his teeth taken out, plus eardrops for an ear infection. But the quote they gave me was quite high. So I called the shelter about it to see if they knew and would cover it, and they said they would through one of their vets. I went to York Mills for a second opinion, and the general vibe was pretty good. Vet was really nice, place was clean, etc.and basically re-confirmed to the shelter the initial diagnosis. Had his teeth scheduled to be taken out same week. I dropped off my cat, was told I'd get a call when he was done (told early afternoon) and he'd be good to go. When I got NO call, I went to the vet and was told by the secretary there was an emergency and he had to be postponed. OK.then why did no one call me? Was it that hectic? So we agreed they could keep him overnight. Next day, I'm waiting for my phone call. No call again. I go in the late afternoon to check. Get lectured by the secretary "You were TOLD it would be DONE early afternoon! ". Um.but you screwed up yesterday and didn't call me then either? Then she lectures me about his ears like I'm careless even though I've had him for less than a week. Really turned me off with how careless the secretary lady was. I would have loved to support a vet that works with shelters, but unfortunately, not being notified about surgery stuff really ticks me off. I can't help but feel that maybe it's because I did not pay - but if they were nice, they would have won a client. I just wanted people to see my bad experience with the service here. Oh and they didn't remove all the teeth, so I had to have the rest taken out, out of pocket. So that was cool.

Great place to get the necessary shots for your pet dog or cat. We have had both our dog and cat get treatments here. Both times the service was prompt and the employees were friendly. We will surely return soon!

Brought my dog in to see Dr. Donahue, it was an amazing experience! He was very good with my dog, and even though we were taking blood and getting him microchipped, the team kept him very happy and he barely batted an eye! My dog almost seemed sad to leave the vet.:)

Very experienced, knowledgeable, and compassionate team!

If I could give 10 STARS to YM Animal Hospital, I would. Each one of the staff members are incredibly caring, and me and my doggie love them all. We have been with all 4 veterinarians, and each is so smart and good with Cali. The vet techs and the front office staff are equally amazing. Cali greets everyone there as if they are her best friend.even when she is feeling lousy. She just knows they will fix her right up. And my girl has had her fair share of vet visits in her 18 months of life. From needing stitches after getting attacked, to having kennel cough, eye infections, and sensitive stomach and skin.she has been through a lot. But this office is amazing, and we wouldn't bring her anywhere else! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

My family and I have been seeing Dr. Grace and Dr. David for many many years. They are incredible. Everyone who works there is so good with our dogs (and our cats when we had them). If there is something wrong with your dog they take the time to carefully explain it and do look our for your pets best interests. They are extended family to our dogs and I know my fur baby always loves seeing them - must be those yummy cookies!:) Thank you for always being so great with them!

Excellent service and the vets and nurses are very knowledgeable about different medications and procedures. They are very gentle withy very emotionally abused cats, knowing they are scarred from a previous home.

I've been taking my dog to Dr. Grace and Dr. David for almost 7 years. They are absolutely wonderful with him. All the staff are caring and attentive. Great people!

It's a small place. A little claustrophobic in there. And parking can be super difficult. Not easy access from the road. BUT.the vets are good, so I tolerate it. But location is terrible.

They are willing to follow up and care but some aspects of service can be improved. Also service across the doctors variable.
