Yorktown Montessori School

Yorktown Montessori School had been a great help over the years for me. Both of my kids spent a good part of summers there. I appreciate the kind words and sometimes hugs from the teacher whenever they were having a hard time in the morning. They were well fed in school and no need to prepare anything to take to school, so it was a big help for me. My son had a few falls on the playground and scrapped his knees, and the teacher applied appropriate care and soothed him. There were fun activities such as having the kids talk about a toy that they brought to school. The teacher also encouraged my son to become more responsible. I could not ask for a more nurturing environment at a summer camp for my little ones.

Yorktown is a rare gem among the many Montessori schools in North York! We cannot begin to describe how glad we are that our child is a part of it.
We found out about Yorktown almost by accident, on a walk from our usual playground and have joined a year and a half ago after our original school had to close.
There is everything about this school that made it our favourite in no time: the warm-hearted and highly qualified teaching staff, the quality and richness of the learning program, the way it inspires children to develop in the best way possible - both socially and intellectually, the family-like atmosphere that one could only find in a smaller sized school, a spacious classroom and a playground even with a small veggie garden patch nearby on a quieter street.and best of it all, seeing how eager our little one is to go there every morning! All of this greatly thanks to Yorktown's truly caring and insightful principal, Grace Park, to whom we are deeply grateful.
The level of insight and understanding by Yorktown staff of each child is both reassuring and inspiring. Whether it's about addressing parental concerns on the child's specific habits or proactively identifying ways to help the child get through a new phase (be it transition to the school; arrival of a sibling or any other milestone), we feel we can trust the school staff 100%. Our little one has grown more confident, more autonomous and independent and shows initiative on many life topics as well as the things she learns in class since she joined.
Another great win for us was the parallel exposure to French language on a daily basis. This was particularly important to us as our little one is dual citizen who speaks French at home. And we can definitely see the quality of the dedicated French lessons through songs and activities our little one shares; as well as accompanying moments that seem to be taught in both languages (meal times, social interactions).
The only thing the school is missing is a commercial website to advertise just how great it is.but that is also what make part of its authenticity and charm, compared to more commercial schools that feel more "machine"-like. We learned about it by accident and made our choice after reading reviews from other parents. And we are happy we did!
We truly love Yorktown and would recommend it whole-heartedly to all parents!

This is a fantastic Montessori early learning environment. The teachers take a lot of time with each student and work to their individual level - they provide JK/SK learning for older kids, too. In particular I really appreciate all the outdoor time the kids get, and the respectful way they learn to communicate.
And that they are part of the CWELCC, they are competitively priced and well-worth the admission.
This place has done wonders for my daughter. Highly recommend!

I enrolled my daughter last year and she loved the school and staff. Grace and the teachers were always pleasant and respectful. My daughter was graduating to JK and there were no other children her age left and that was the biggest factor in changing her school.

My Kid loved everything about this school! The Christmas performance, The apple picking trip.he Still mentions them to this day! One time when i picked him up around 6pm I saw the teacher Still teaching him alphabets cards. You will love the individual attention, many activities and caring environment. It was a few year ago we paid full fee but It worthed every penny.they are offering reduced fee It makes me wanting to have another child lol.

We are so thankful to the YMS teachers and staff for all their hard work in teaching, supporting, helping and caring for the kids. The artwork activities and music and French classes were also great. Highly recommended to parents looking for a safe and enjoyable environment for kids!
