Yorokobi Japanese Restaurant

Our first time at this restaurant and we weren’t disappointed! The food was amazing and fresh. I highly recommend trying!

Fresh and thick cuts of sashimi. The crunchy veg is great. Pressed sushi is good.
The restaurant is good with Christmas music.
Waiters and waitresses are friendly and all the needs were taken care of.

Food is yummy and food presentation is lovely. Server was very friendly and service is overall excellent. I would definitely come back with other friends so they can experience this place also

Great atmosphere and excellent food’s taste and decoration. I can’t compare with any other restaurants because it’s absolutely perfect in every part.

Went there for a birthday party, the food was quite typical, we ordered a Maki platter and a sushi platter and an udon. I think the udon was more of a surprised than the sushi were. It is a small restaurant so if you plan to try it, make sure to make reservations first. Also parking is limited but the parking lot is bigger at the back.

If you are a sushi fan, can definitely trust this place, reasonable price and very good quality. Also nice staffs.

I ordered from one of the online delivery services. I ordered 3 types of sushi rolls. I found them quite tasteless, very little amount of fish /seafood so much avocado was used as a filler. I will not be ordering from this restaurant again

One of the best sushi restaurants I have visited. I travel a ton and noticed the food here is on par with the top sushi restaurants in Vancouver and Toronto.

My go to place for sushi, always a reliable choice for fresh seafood and good service. They also have many combos, so it’s a nice option for a take out too

I tried the take out menu, teriyaki salmon, age tofu and spring rolls. The food was delivered by Uber, it was supposed to arrive at 5.30 pm but came at 6.00 pm instead. Besides the food being cold the salmon was hopelessly overcooked, the tofu hard, teriyaki sauce too salty. Either the food was driven around or came overcooked. How difficult can it be to grill a piece of salmon?

Food wasn’t too bad, I found it decent and filling. I got the chicken katsu and it was tasty and juicy, although a bit pricy. I also got salmon sushi, and they gave me an extra piece which I appreciated. Unfortunately we didn’t get much experience with the service as all orders were done on the website and we had no interaction with our server. Despite that, our server still passively aggressively suggested that my friend didn’t tip enough which i didn’t really like.

The inside of the restaurant is modern and has a dim/romantic setting. The service was very good - they are quick to bring the food out and we’re attentive, although we were there on a Thursday and it was not very busy.they have lots of different sushi rolls, torched rolls, and different appetizers. The sashimi was fresh, the takoyaki was a little too soft on the inside, and some of the rolls didnt seem to use the freshest fish so it was a bit bland.

Nice, clean restaurant with enough space between the tables to feel comfortable. We liked the food a lot, everything we took was made (cooked) to perfection. Will be back!

Love the food, attentive staffs and the vibe and choice of music. Had a great time and will come back.

Great parking, quick service, food was good too. But the floor was sticky.perhaps from too much mopping?

Got the bulgogi beef udon. It was pretty good. The broth was warm with a slight sweet heartiness. The noodles were fine, but the beef was lacking, not only in flavour, but in quantity. There were only maybe 7 small slices of beef in the entire bowl. In total, my meal came to $20. Kind of a lot for what you get, honestly. The service wasn't fantastic. In fact, the waiters don't even take your order; it's done through a QR code that leads to an ordering website. Though this isn't the worst thing in the world, it left me with the lack of an urge to tip, as all they did was bring out the food. Overall, food is nice but overpriced and service isn't fantastic.

I came to this place on a Sunday evening with a party of 4. My friend and I split a few dishes that net us a bill of roughly $90.

The service was quite friendly, granted it was on a Sunday. We ordered lobster tempura, hamachi carpaccio, some salmon dish, and a dragon maki set.

Let's start with the positives. The batter consistency and fry on the tempura were both superb. It was crispy, and not in the least bit soggy with a very good consistency throughout. The vegetables were fresh and the broccoli wasn't saturated in oil:)
The hamachi and salmon were both very tasty with an amazing flavour profile adding in a good amount of savoury, sweetness, and slightly tangy tastes.
The addition of avocado and cherry tomatoes were refreshing and didn't at all detract from the dish.

Now unfortunately for the negatives, the lobster itself and the maki were underwhelming. The lobster was slightly salty and didn't have a good taste on its own. It felt either old or simply did not fit well with traditional tempura. The maki rolls were a bit dry and had too much filler substance of avocadoes and cucumbers. You couldn't taste much flavour in the sushi rice.

Overall I think the fancier dishes like tataki, carpaccio, etc would be amazing to try at this place and definitely worth a cute date night. The place has a nice decorum and overall a good atmosphere. Unfortunately, it falls a bit short on price for quality.

Brought my friend to this place with very high hopes tonight (06-11-2022) because of the reviews (which I'm now suspecting of being faked) and the atmosphere.

I could not have been any more disappointed- and I know my self to be very patient and understanding as well.

We were greeted by one server, who had actually been quite friendly and welcoming, but were served by another. Sadly I did not get their names. The server that had been serving us would not allow any compromises at all. My friends main course had come before any of the appetizers had, and my dish wasn't ready until about 40 minutes later (I made sure). Meanwhile, I had seen that 2 other tables that arrived much after we did had been served their appetizers and mains- while we were still waiting for our appetizers. I could not wrap my head around why we were receiving such poor service. When I had spoken up almost 40 minutes after the appetizer and my friends main course had been served, they suddenly said that my dish is ready to be served. Feeling very frustrated and disappointed in this, I decided not to take the dish and instead paid the bill and left.

Absolutely 0/10, my friend had complained that the food arrived cold as well. Avoid at all costs, and pay no mind to the suspiciously good reviews.

I really like the sushis from this place. Matter of fact I started eating sushi from here. The food is amazing and varies from cooked sushi to regular sushis. The staff are friendly and nice too. The only problem this place has is packaging for take out. They packaging they use makes the food a little wet and sometimes changes the format of the food. I’ve ordered couple times through uber eats and the food i got was a bit cold and wet. Same thing happened last time when i picked up my food from here. But in overall, it’s good food, especially for dine in.

It was the first time visited there. Nice resturant and delicious sushi.

Size of rolls were huge. It was very tasty and little kid also loved udon. Finshed giant bowl.
We had lunch special with 3 types of rolls and dragon maki set. All amazing. Interior of restaurant was clean/cozy/nicely decorated to take anyone. We also ordered pint of beer and very well servced.
Will definitely visit again.

These guys aren't super cheap but their sushi is so good an so is their chicken teriyaki. I found them by accident one night when I was craving sushi late at night and they were one of the only ones still open.it's not super easy to get in and out of their parking lot but it's not a deal breaker.

Usually get the spicy salmon roll, salmon avocado roll, gyoza, and dragon set.

The service was very good we sat on the patio and enjoyed salmon teriyaki miso soup and a sushi platter very tasty plus a chicken dish.it too was cooked to perfection would recommend this place.

Ordered a dish called TUNA LOVER.
Worst tuna sashimi I ever seen, simply not eatable.
They are using parts of fish which is not suitable for sashimi.
I also ordered SALMON PARTY PLATTER, that dish was OK.

The first time I tried this restaurant was for Mother's Day of 2021, where we had takeout. From phone call order to pick up, everything was clear and precise, and my family and I were very satisfied with the fresh sushi, and free complimentary side dish. They almost do it every time, and I am so pleased with their generosity and quality. Yorokobi is currently our go-to sushi restaurant!

We came 1 hour before closing and the didnt let us sit inside because the servers have already cleaned the inside! The food does not taste good at all here. They wrap the sushi really bad

Good sushi. Friendly service. I like that they offer cash discounts on take out orders and how they add a surprise complimentary roll once in a while.

Had an 8 piece salmon Hako (torched salmon) and a 6 piece kamikaze roll (spicy salmon). For only $20! So good! Best part was the chocolate surprise in the bag for Christmas. Wasn't expecting that. Brought tears. To my face cause its my favorite chocolate.

Anyways, the rolls were big and flavorful. They were even garnished even though it was take out. The torched salmon was juicy and tasty. I loved that there was avocado inside the torched pressed rice.

This is definitely a place worth coming to in this area Thanks Yorokobi!

The dishes are BEAUTIFUL and have a taste to match.
I almost feel guilty eating the meals because they look so good.
These people are invested in their business. I haven't spent too much time dining in because of COVID but when I go to pick up, the ambience of the restaurant is also aesthetically zen af?

The servers/greeters/people taking orders over the phone - super sweet.
They have the cutest hand writing and are always so polite and know the menu well.
They hear me out when I speak and don't try to rush the order.
They are well spoken and communicate clearly.

Communication is key in any healthy relationship, let me tell you.

I'd also like to add that I found this restaurant on Uber EATS a couple months ago when it was a 7 minute drive away. I recently moved to an area with 7 other Sushi places walking distance.
I've tried a few of them over the past couple weeks - nothing compares. No contest.

I happily drive 30 minutes now for that sweet sweet Yorokobi

Had the popular Maki combo and was very impressed. Great quality for the price and the rolls are not all rice. Lots of combos/sets which make it easy to order. My favorite was the Salmon Hako which was smoky and flavorful. Looking forward to coming back and trying some more great selections on their menu!

The stars of the meal are the big unagi sushi and uni sushi. They were so good that we got a second round! Great presentation of the food. They even gave us a Godzilla roll on the house.

Came across this restaurant when googling Japanese restaurants near my place. My husband has a fav Japanese restaurant which I didn't fancy. I decided to look for a new one but really didn't hold high hope. Many Japanese restaurants entice customers with good price but mediocre quality.

Yorokobi turned out to be really fantastic. Within the last 2 weeks, we had taken out 3 times. The first couple times we ordered mainly rolls. I recommend the lobster heaven roll, spider roll and volcano salmon roll. I found the ten ten roll was a bit lack lustre compared to the previous 3. The big unagi sushi was well made and nicely presented even in takeout boxes! Yesterday, we took out a medium sushi, sashimi and maki platter which was delectably presented with fresh sashimi and even has a few pieces of torched sushi.

The price is not the cheapest but very reasonable considering the quality, portion and presentation. The chef gives an impression that he/she cares about every small detail and wants only the best for his/her patrons. I'm so happy that I've found my new "go to" sushi place!

Outstanding sushi! We ordered the Hawaiian roll, the Diablo roll, Hako Salmon roll, fantastic. We also ordered Gyoza and Vegetable fried Udon. Definitely counting this restaurant as a family favourite. Highly recommend it.

I’ve ordered sushi from every single delivery spot in Thornhill and this place is my favourite by far this year.

Their ingredients are always fresh, everything is perfectly packaged, and the service and special requests are honoured with grace and speed. Not to mention their prices can’t be beat, especially on their salmon sashimi which I can’t stop eating.

I order from them basically several times a week and hate to imagine quarantine without them.

I’ll visit the restaurant eventually to thank them in person but until then I feel it’s only right to share my experience with this lovely gem of a place as a small token of my gratitude.

I ordered a few rolls for takeout (spicy salmon, spider, and hawaiian) and they were spectacular - so fresh and delicious. The owners even snuck in an order of crispy gyoza, free of charge. The gyoza were so tasty and the staff were very kind to do that. Will definitely be going back soon.

Went in not expecting much but pleasantly surprised so delicious everything was and had a mix of new and usual sushi combinations. Had the combo for two!

A sushi restaurant that ran out of fish.

Tried to order some rolls but was told that ALL fish and rolls were sold out. Quite unbelievable to be honest.

Poor planning maybe a good sign for freshness? Will revisit this review when the time comes.

Waited 2 hours for my sushi, granted it was the bogo sale so I wasnt too bothered. But i only found out when I got to the restaurant after that 2 hour wait the lady who took my order wrote my number wrong (I distinctly remember saying it slowly and clearly and waited for a confirmation) and cancelled my order after she called that wrong number. I waited two hours for my dinner and the restaurant couldnt even expidite my cancelled order after the discovery and had to wait an additional hour if I still wanted my sushi.

Super kind staff members and beautifully presented food! Love this place and would come back on special day to celebrate!

Their sushi is very fresh with excellent presentation. It was a nice dinner at home️ they also gave me extra salmon sashimi, my favourite.

A great place to dine-in for a night out with your date or friends. The tables are spaced out pretty well, so it creates a private environment for you to enjoy your dining experience. The fish here is super fresh, and I especially loved the hamachi, tuna, and salmon sashimi. The dishes are presented really beautifully too. + If you're into strong beer, I highly recommend their Dai Dai Ale! It was good with sushi. =)

So happy for this new sushi spot in town! They offer 15% off takeout orders during soft opening too. They have got a great selection of sushi, rolls, korean dishes, drinks and sashimi. Food is very fresh and service is great. Love the soft shell crab, ten ten roll, sushi deluxe, hamachi truffle carpaccio, spicy diablo roll, and salmon teriyaki!

FINALLY, we found the new go-to Sushi place! The ingredients were super fresh, and the service was terrific. They serve half size and half price of specialty rolls so that I can try a variety of rolls at an affordable price! I will revisit this place to try the sake combo special when I need a night snack:)
