Great food but ten minutes after we received our main course the server came to our table with takeout containers and told us we needed to leave because they were closing! I’m not kidding.
I watched the owner be absolutely rude and belittling to an uber driver. No one should be treated like that. I will not be returning. Classless establishment!
I'm a realtor and I often take my clients out or order food when my clients are moving. Last night I did take out from this place. I spent like $45 (Lamb curry, chicken curry, regular Roti and Garlic Naan). No value for money. Naan wasn't fresh and it was like cardboard. It was less than 10 minutes drive since I picked up the food and the Naan and Roti was already cold and dry. When we re heat the garlic naan on a pan, (1) tiny garlic pieces started to fall off, means, they would have sprinkled chopped garlic you get from the store on top of the Naans (2) barely any meat on both dishes. So, as a summary, absolutely no value for money.
Food was bad but what was worst is how the owner treated the uber delivery driver trying to find his order. The owner was so rude I was disgusted and we decided to leave. The food wasn't good and that incident pushed us to leave. Please don't support this behavior.
Not all India foods are created equal, in my opinion. We are very selective about where we dine, and Zeera by the Bay is high on our list. The freshess of the food is amazing; one can taste the unique spices and herbs. Our go-to is the Zeera Special Grilled Platter with sides of mixed vegetables and garlic Naan We also love the Samosas with tamarind or yogurt mint sauce. You can taste each piece of potatoes and veggies. YUMMY
I ordered take out and was given uncooked/ raw chicken. Called to tell them was was informed if I want to cook it some more I should throw it on my stove? The food also comes with no bread or rice that costs more.
Ordered butter chicken. Some of the chicken was fine, but I think they mixed old chicken with new because some pieces were extremely rubbery (that or they were over cooked like crazy).
Their naan was good, and generous. The rubber feeling chicken really put me off, I doubt I’ll order form here again.
Fantastic Indian food.cuisine even. Pekoras were a bit great, but everything else was perfect. Really fresh paneer, and the vindaloo is perfectly spicy.
As an Indian, I wasn't really satisfied by the food here. I ordered butter chicken- which was too sweet (no flavour balance) and aloo paratha which lacked flavour altogether. Parathas or kulchas need to be spiced up a bit to give it more flavour.
I have had this a few times and it is always a hit with the family. Everything we've tasted has been eaten and enjoyed, even by the picky 3 year old brat. I highly suggest ordering here. Top notch food.
Have ordered twice. Both times delicious food. First time the Laccha Parantha didn't have good consistency but second time it was perfectly made. Soya chaap was delicious with thick gravy. The grilled version of soya chaap was very tasty as well.
We used to like the food of this place.but just today we called at 1: 30 to reserve our table were asked to walk in at 2: 30 when we reached we were asked to leave and not walk in. And later when we said we have already confirmed our table the staff there asked us how long will u sit here and eat for? Is that the way you ask a customer? Never going back to this place after this experience. Ridiculous customer service.
Great tasting food.quaint location.good seating arrangements in the patio.cutlery and glassware need to be relooked at as some unwashed spots were observed on them.and portions are way smaller than the industry standard.
Ordered the Zerra Biryani with uber eats and unfortunately at around $15 (tax included) each I expected more. Basically the plate had 2 small pieces of chicken, 1 small piece of lamb/beef, and 1 shrimp, the rest was rice. 85% rice and 15% meat is not a good deal at this price. They had a promotion with 30% off orders over $50. I guess it looks like your'e saving but you're getting less food. The food tasted great though so I'm giving 2 stars.
Food was 4/10. Felt that the kabobs were frozen and just thrown on top of an oven or something. Portion that they give compared to what they charge is a JOKE. I've never been to an Indian/Pakistani restaurant that portions were so small and over priced. I wouldn't recommend. Oh! They also charged $2.99 for chutney haha, I've never got charged for chutney in my life.
Great for a quick takeout of North Indian/Pakistani food. The chicken stuffed naan was good! There's a nice patio + it's a short walk to the lakefront so that's always nice.
DISAPPOINTING Experience! Won't be back again: 1.we ordered Tandoori chicken which was awful. No meat just bones! 2. Tandoori chicken was served without Tong- when I requested to get Tong waiter replied 'USE YOUR OWN FORK TO PICKUP' how rude is that! Never heard such a reply in ang resturaunt. 3. Also we ordered Zeera Special Chicken- there was nothing special about itand chicken pieces were not cooked.
NO NO for Real Indian food lover. ZERO Hospitaliy!
Went there with my daughter, service was very nice, staff very polite. Food was fantastic, very fresh and tasty dishes. Definitely will go back there again. Price for the dishes are very reasonable and if you like Indian food highly recommend to gave a try.
Good place to eat food. I hope they improve their food quality as I won't say it as it's best but overall okay to eat in here. I would suggest to improve on their taste which is very important to retain and majntain consistently but here I was not completely satisfied. Hope it gets improved.
Visited this restaurant for dinner on a Sunday evening and surprisingly we were the only guests throughout over time. Good customer service and the quality/taste of food was good too.
I just liked their dishes. I always get fantastic customer service there. The place is clean and the employees are always friendly. Will come visit again.
My wife discovered it, or a friend took her there. It's now our favorite restaurant. We're passing it on and taking everyone there. The food is a truly varied, tasty, and fresh assortment of Indian cuisine. The service is terrific. The setting is neat and unpretentious. The price is very reasonable. Even if you're not nearby, and especially if you are, come to South Ajax to eat. This is how to do it.
Amazing food. Kind of expensive for the amount of meat you get in a dish but great flavor. They could definitely be a little bit more generous with the meat though. You do end up with alot of delicious sauce.
I usually give good reviews for small and big restaurants in smaller towns and help them bring in business through my YOUTUBE channel but this restaurant just didn’t meet my expectations, the food is really expensive and they give you less quantity of it, they need to give customers a large amount for what they paid for, they also had oil on their bread and their bread was supposed to be regular when I purchased, the food was all right, have had better food in other places in Pickering, Whitby, Ajax Also the sweets that I purchased came into a small container and again it was less quantity then I paid for, it looked like it was left overs, if they correct this next time I go there I’ll change my review
Having grown up living in England, and on Indian food I must say that this little spot in Pickering is a real gem! Food portions are perfect, quality & authenticity is spectacular! I just wished we had an Indian restaurant like this in Burk’s Falls! Super friendly staff too! Highly recommend stopping here if you want something different. I had the chilli paneer, biriyani rice & garlic nan bread, outstanding!
Very underwhelmed. We've eaten here about a half dozen times and have been happy with everything. However we won't be returning. Our curries weren't filled to the top, about 80% filled. The Naan was over cooked and crunchy. The bhel Piri had missing ingredients. The Pakoras and Samosas didn't disappoint thankfully.
Was in the neighbourhood, walked in to explore the menu, staff were very friendly and willing to take the time to make recommendations. Placed an order for take out, everything I ordered was very tasty and compared in quality to other indian restaurants I've enjoyed.
This is my very first time having a wonderful lunch with my boyfriend. I can honestly say, I have never tasted food that was so exotic, spicy, sweet and perfect. Zeera By the Bay is such an unique restaurant to go a big lunch or dinner. I highly recommend this place.
Excellent food and service at reasonable prices. The mango salad was especially delicious. Cosy interior and a small outdoor patio on second level of plaza. Must return on a Tues or Thurs to try the buffet and sample more of their authentic Indian dishes.
Quaint little restaurant with a nice zen vibe. The food came a bit too quickly after we ordered it, making me think it wasn’t made fresh but sitting there. The food definitely has flavour and spice, but the portions are small and we felt a bit skimped out on the meat. The Zeera biryani game with one tiger shrimp only! If we’re paying premium for this dish, at least throw in 2. The beef vindaloo was also punched with delicious flavour and spice, but there were maybe only 6 pieces of beef with full gravy. We had asked for medium spice for our biryani and it was definitely more than a medium spice, so be cautious when asking for spice. The Raita was delicious, no complaints there.
