These velvety soft and smooth Udon are hand made in shop and pair perfectly with their delicious flavorful broth.

Located on the south side of the Markham / Scarborough border you'd miss this place even if you pass by it every day.

When you walk in it feels like you've been transported to Japan, you are greeted wuth warm smiles and respectful bows. Make sure you book ahead or come early, they fill up quickly and sell out just as fast!

Delicious and authentic Japanese udon. We got a table at 6pm on a weekday with no waiting. I recommend making a reservation as the restaurant was full by the time we finished our food at 7. Very fast service. They do not have a vegetarian udon on the menu but they were able to make a vegetable only tempura udon on request. The shrimp was replaced by eggplant and okra. Highly recommend the hojicha ice cream. Everything was on the pricier side but the experience was a pleasant one. Will come again to try the other udons!

The curry udon and original udon were super yummy! You can tell the beef is good quality and the service is great!

My husband and I tried Zen Sanuki for the first time and ordered a few items off their menu - tako wasabi, homemade fresh cold tofu (hiyayakko), spicy salmon roll, and our favourite, spicy udon noodle soup with braised pork (umakara nabe udon). The udon broth was just the right amount of spicy, has depth to its flavour, and the pork was extremely tender - highly recommend this udon if you like your food with a kick to it. We think this will be our go-to udon place from now on. Great service as well!

I’ve been here multiple times and tried almost everything on the menu now! Absolutely delicious and high quality.

This is place is pricy but totally worth it. I had the udon noodles with shrimp tempura and it was plentiful. The sushi roll were made with brown rice and quite tasty. The Japanese style fried wings were delicious. Can’t wait to go back.

Rather disappointed in the Udon itself, soup is almost tasteless, noodle is very chewy though.

Cozy and diligent store with great hand made udon and service! Lucky enough to get a table during holiday but I recommend to make reservation first.
Udon was really tasty but the ice cream was a bit over frozen which made it not creamy enough

First time I went there, little bit salty and I can taste the soya sauce in the noodle is the soup.

Been to Zen and Zen Sanuki many times now, always amazed by their top notch food and services. They took their hospitality to the next level today. My 3 yrs old daughter had some udon leftover on her own plate and we were asking for a bowl to empty her plate so we can take it home wash it. And the senior waitress just took the plate and returned it clean. They just make me want to go back again, again and again. I will say they are truly one of the BEST in Toronto.

If you’re looking for in-house made sanuki style udon, look no further. You’ll get the nice chewy texture of freshly made flavorful udon with a lot of different options for broth/sides/toppings, etc. The service is always amazing to top things off. The staff really care and it shows in the cleanliness and how well they’ve kept the restaurant.

Delicious fresh made udon. Udon is on the pricier side but the quality was very good. One of the best udons I’ve tried. It was delicious both hot and or cold. Highly recommend.

Wow this restaurant sucks! I understand covid has hit many businesses hard, but it feels like a cafeteria-style meal. Also the service is so so so bad. We are not even finished eating, and they ask us to leave, and we hadn't even been there for an hour. Can you imagine? I can understand if this is a cheap-style udon place, but this restaurant so so so expensive. So so so expensive and so so so bad. Never come to this restaurant, Mcdonalds is better!

Best experience I've had at a restaurant in awhile. Beware it's best to call in a reservation because the place isn't big. The price is high compare to other places but for the quality it stands alone and I recommend 100%.

The service was great, tea cup was never empty. The quality of the food was very good and its a nice little spot.

Good quality food. Terrible bang for the buck. I can have a proper meal at an authentic Japanese Izakaya, for about same money for a bowl of udon plus a drink here.

Authentic Japanese udon restaurant. I went there for lunch and it's quite busy. Braise pork will just melted in your mouth. The broth has so much flavour. Price is high indeed but the portion is huge. I was really disappointed with the duck (really chewy and not fresh) so the server changed it it tonkatsu (its okay). Will come back!

Authentic quality without use of MSG. I like the texture of the udon. Braised pork belly melts in the mouth, yum! A bit pricey though. Appreciate the attention to details. Real matcha tea too.

Service was very pleasant (very nice servers), food was good, however I could not justify the price. I mean, the food was good, but I don’t think it was worth the price we paid. We got the Tempura Shrimp Udon Set ($33) and the Umakara Udon ($33) along with a tako side dish (~$7). This added up to $82 and with tip it was around $93, which is a whopping $46 per person for a bowl of noodles! Again, don’t get me wrong, the food was decent, but how exotic could a bowl of udon really taste? It was just udon, nothing out of the world, the broth didn’t taste superior in comparison to other udon places either. After finishing my meal, I came out thinking “for this price, I could be eating at an AYCE jbbq/kbbq”…

The staff is very attentive and polite. Atmosphere is very much modern japanese theme. The food came out in a timely manner. Portion sizes are small given the price of dish but the quality and service is definitely there.

I’m a Ramen fans but not Udon, but this udon restaurant really give me a good surprise. Udon is chewy and smooth, soup base is rich and toppings are tasty (above average). I saw many people ordered dessert, strawberry syrup on crushed ice, which looks pretty good for selfie. A real Japanese run restaurant, staffs are polite and attentive. 5

There is no doubt that this place is really good. I mean the meat is thick and tender, noodle is authentic, broth is special. But also be mindful of price, this is not your regular eatout place

Love both hot and cold udon! Chirashi is super fresh sashimi! Always a fans of Zen restaurant️ It is an authentic taste of Japanese food in Toronto.

Absolutely insane delicious crazy good. My udon and tempura were done to perfection. Serene dining room that felt warm and comforting and reminded me of Japan. Our waitress was wonderful. We were dining with our five year old kiddo and she was perfectly attentive to her. I will return to try the sushi rolls. Love love this place!

Zen Udon is a pleasant restaurant to visit once, but you may not come back again due to the steep price. Udon is seen as a comfort food back in Japan. Zen Udon commands a higher premium because they make their udon noodles from scratch.

The Kakiage Udon was the cheapest option at $21. We also got the Beef Curry Udon for $31.

I find Japanese cuisine to have sweeter under-tones, so I didn't really care to finish the broth. You are mainly paying for the ambience and the ingredients they import from Japan directly. I am not planning to visit Zen again because I am simply not their clientele that can afford $30 for a bowl of udon.

It is best to come here when someone else is treating you.

I wanted to try this restaurant for a while. Their decor is very good. Bathrooms were clean. Service was good too. However, given what they are charging their food, I expected a bit more. We found a bone in the sashimi. The everything udon soup was a bit salty. The cold udon was good. The Sakura shrimp udon was unique but it didn't contain a lot of shrimps.

Great place to eat udon! I tried the Tempura Udon Set, it was fantastic the quality in their food is amazing! Highly recommend going here if you are craving udon

We made a very late reservation and on top of that, we were late. They still got us in. This place is very Japanese to the core, in a very good way. The serving staffs were friendly and very courteous. They didn't rush us at any given time even though it was their lunch time. I could see that the whole restaurant staffs including the kitchen staffs were waiting just for us to finish eating. Food was very authentic and made with craftmanship. We ordered some sashimi, temaki, and katsudon. They were all perfect. Katsudon is one of my favorite Japanese dishes and I had it several times when I visited Japan. Hands down, this place had the best one I've ever had. Objectively speaking, some people might complain about the interior of this place since it's not really flashy or modern looking place but it has a comfortable interior just like a lot of restaurants in Japan. I gotta be honest though, it is a bit pricey. However, at least in my opinion, it is worth it. I would highly recommend this place if anyone is looking for authentic, good Japanese foods.

I went here when they first opened, with my little one (was a baby, < 1 year old) and I'm so happy to see that recent reviews continue to rate them well. As the spin off of the main restaurant on Woodbine, this specialty noodle shop does what they do very well.

They take credit card, staff is super friendly, seating inside is good, they can accommodate larger groups, and have high chairs for kids. Parking is also good - large plaza, tonnes of room.

We've yet to go back, or order take out during the pandemic as we haven't had a craving. But, for good Japanese Udon, there's basically nothing remotely close.

This is the most authentic Japanese Udon restaurant! It is uncommon using Japanese Flour freshly making Udon! The Udon style is Authentic Sanuki style! The Shrimp tempura, Pork Belly and Curry Beef are exceptional good. Very very Japanese! We like them all! Thank you bring authentic Japanese udon to Toronto!

Staff was very courteous. Since it was my first visit, I didn't know there's no menu.need to scan with QR code until I asked for one. Another waitress gave us a menu afterwards.

The udon was amazing! Not doughy at all. Upon leaving I noticed bags of flour from Japan. No wonder.

Very disappointed with their grilled eel.tasted fishy given its price. If the sauce was more flavourful like in Japan, it might have helped. Definitely not fresh eel but frozen.

We were told they messed up an order and gave us a complimentary pork belly dish.melts in your mouth. Too fatty for my belly

Pork donburu tasted authentic and it was a generous portion, but the pork cutlet was too rough (lean meat). Should've tenderized the pork chop more.

Hot genmai cha (green tea with roasted barley) was aromatic and tasty. Very well prepared.

Their prices are definitely five out of five. A lunch for two was $80!

Will return for special occasions.

Delicious but in my opinion, very overpriced. Worth trying once but will not good enough to consider another visit again.

Udon and soup tasted good but nothing popped or surprisingly amazing. Atmosphere seems a little over rated, staff is very nice and overall the place is very clean and organized. Food just seems overpriced

Their foods were great and fresh. But! It's so pricy. You have to pay $2.00 for a small amount of extra tempura sauce.lol

Came here for lunch. Everything was so good that I regret not taking photos. Normally I do not drink the soup after I finish the noodles. Yes, I drank all the soup =)

Haven't been here since the pandemic and was happy about the experience. Food is tasty. Staff are friendly.
