A surprising tea restaurant! The Hainanese chicken is so smooth and tender The fried salted chicken is crispy and fragrant It can be rated as the best tea restaurant in Toronto for the time being
I bought dinner for take-out tonight, the portion of the egg plant is extremely small, and the rest of other food quality is not good at all compared with dine in. The restaurant is full I think because of their promotion, but I would like to say if they don't keep their standard, they cannot run a good business. They really disappoint me cause I am a regular customer and I will be hesitated to go again or not.
First time visiting this place, everything was out of expectations
We ordered 1. Hainan Chicken Rice 2. Taiwanese Fried Chicken Rice. They serve with a free drink like coffee or tea. Chicken is tender and juicy although the Taiwanese fried chicken tastes more likely to be popcorn chicken. Overall they taste really well and affordable. (around $14)
Service is good as well, the servers are really polite and gentle.
Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for Chinese / Hong Kong / Taiwanese food
They have Monday to Friday specials for $9.99. Ordered the lemon grass pork chop on rice. The portion was alright. Instead of a dipping sauce for the pork chop, they put minced ginger oil over the rice. The rice was very oily. Service was quick.
The portion in the morning was sufficient, the price was reasonable, and the taste was good. I didn’t need to eat anything at lunch, but it was worth it. I will come again.
Servers (maybe just the 1?) didn't know their restaurant brand very well. We have been to many zen q before and we were wondering why this set meal didn't have side dishes we could choose from. In the end she told us that diff zen q branches operate menus differently. She didn't even know others operated differently until we said that Woodbine gave us choices. She said that Kennedy cooks when ordered versus Woodbine had cooked à bunch of dishes and just plops them to the rice.
Overall, food was good. The Taiwanese chicken was better than next door's Ten Ren and this place has a lot more rice! No sides though unless you really count the 4 pieces of broccoli lol. Plum sauce ribs were great! The sauce was delicious but the ribs are meatier next door.
The ambience was squishy. This could be a family place but it's rather small and ventilation isn't the best. It's comfier to sit next door.
I will say though that their fruit drinks are quite sweet so if you are watching your sugar, you could even get 25% or 0% sugar and the tapioca/jellies will be more than enough sugar.
Would I come here again? Probably on a co day. Zen q doesn't have as many drink choices and the lacking side dishes thing makes me go next door instead.
Used to visit a lot but now I only go when I need to do groceries at T&T. Their service is meh and the food quality has gone down the past 2 years. I had Malaysian curry chicken with rice today and their rice was a tad but soggy. Wish their foods quality were more consistent. Still love their Q ball with grass jelly desserts though.
As a Taiwanese dish, the trash made of classic Taiwanese dishes, braised pork rice without juice, salty and crispy chicken is not crispy, summed up a pile of defense
I ordered two bowls of glass jelly with taro, she gave me only glass jelly and taro, seriously? I called on December 8th Thursday at 9pm, the girl picked up my call and did this. She doesn’t know how to make it for sure.
There are so many ZenQs, why is the price of this one higher than others, and the amount of dishes is not affordable. A set meal is more than half a box of rice and a few pieces of meat, and there is cotton thread in the rice. I will never come to this place again
Tried the Hainanese chicken rice. The portion (rice) is quite large, but the chicken is not as smooth as the other side, and the price is not much advantage.
Came to ZenQ numerous times for many years before a new makeover took place. Despite the new changes, the old menu is still kept with minor updates.pricesFood is definitely tastier, more like a restaurant instead of a bubble tea or dessert place. Affordable prices with combos selections. Parking is conveniently located just steps from the entrance.
