A fun collection of history about the island and the potato. They have examples of varietals, disease, and planting/harvesting equipment related to the spuds of the island. A little café inside and gift shop augment to give a taste and memory to complete your visit.

Visite intéressante, on en apprend beaucoup sur la culture de la pomme de terre. Plusieurs affiches bien détaillées. Nombreuses machineries de l'époque. À visiter!

We had a very delicious lunch here and got to try a sample of potato fudge. The museum is informative as museums are.
01 August 2023 4:27
10 July 2023 21:28
Some of the displays were neat. Wish they had a guided tour. The machinery was within reach and a child could injure themselves so that part wasn’t safe.it was very smelly. The restaurant was okay. And the potato fudge was good except it hardens quickly. Staff were very pleasant and washrooms were clean.

Lots of great information here. We also had a great lunch. I do wish some of the tools had more information as I'm not a farmer and already don't know much about potatoes. I had to Google a lot of the exhibits to get a really good idea of what I was looking at. We were here for about 3 hours and really enjoyed what we learned.

August 24,2022 - Want to learn about the POTATO, and its importance in PEI... This it the place to satisfy your curiosity & stomach cravings! The Potato Museum is seasonal, opens in the Spring, and closes mid October! Check their website for hours & prices!

Adults $10
Seniors $ 8.85
Student $5
Family $25

This facility contains historic facts on the potato’s origin, and the potato’s introduction to Europe, South & North America, plus machines used to plant & harvest potatoes on PEI!

Then, spend your money at the gift shop, and/or the cafeteria with potato based food items! I enjoy cooking, I had to buy a few bags of PEI potatoes to take home! Our favorite spot was the cafeteria for a hot “SPUD” loaded with melted cheese & bacon with sour cream! The “ Fried Chips” were excellent, too!

So back to the museum... I enjoy reading history, but younger ones may prefer more “ interactive learning activities “! I’d rate this experience a solid 4.7... If more “interactive learning activities” were incorporated for the children, I’d increase to 5.0 rating!

The 2nd part of the museum contains loads of vintage machines related to planting & harvesting potatoes... Would be nice if the kids could climb on 1 or 2 of the machines for a more personal experience!
(just a suggestion)

Over all, a good museum that provides an in-depth knowledge on the history of the potato! Take time to sample the loaded “ SPUDS “!

Awesome to see the antiques and history! Dining area, was so busy, I didn't get to savour their potato dishes. They only had half the restaurant open, why wouldn't they call in extra help to accommodate the surplus.

Such a fun cute place to stop on our west coast drive. Super interesting, who would’ve thought potatoes could be cool? !
21 October 2022 22:41
Their restaurant is one of the best in the island. All things potato, Chowder to Lobster roll. Don't get me started on their fresh cut fries! So delicious! Service was excellent and efficient! Thanks!

Très belle visite. Nous avons été surpris. Le resto est fermé les dimanches et lundis pour manque de personnel.

Really nice visit. The restaurant is close on sundays and mondays.
18 October 2022 13:38
A wonderfully informative museum that thoroughly explains the history of potato farming on the island. Save room for a meal at the restaurant, all made in-house, including desserts!
03 October 2022 6:14
Nice place to visit. The museum has two parts. One is related to potatoes and the other part is related to the local history. There is also a souvenir shop and a restaurant. Food was good, but I wish that I knew that they mix salt with sugar and put it on the fries.
01 October 2022 16:58
Really worth a visit. Potato facts and world history is fascinating but I was surprised to see a lot of local history exhibited too. Restaurant was wonderful. How can you go wrong with potatoes?
11 September 2022 12:45
This museum was very interesting. They also had some amazing antiques on display. Bought potato fudge and it was delicious, not too sweet just perfect. Had lunch in their restaurant which was delicious but a bit pricey. Highly recommend you visit.

If you're visiting PEI I recommend you check this place out. It's a little far from the tourist area but worth the drive. It's exactly what you would expect a museum about potato and potato harvesting equipment to be. One side is dedicated to potatoes the other side of his dedicated to local history. They also have a restaurant and gift shop. The restaurant was very good the food was great and the staff was awesome.
04 September 2022 12:59
This museum is awesome. Who knew there was so much history and knowledge to be told about potatoes lol! The staff were so kind! They also gave a restaurant on site for all of your potatoe needs.
31 August 2022 2:37
Loved the " potatoes " in coffins explaining all the diseases.and the fudge! Best bargain.buy it all, well, the caramel one. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed. Had a nice picnic on the grounds.
29 July 2022 3:11
It was raining so we figured we would go inside and visit the museum. I was Pleasantly surprised by all the wonderful things to see and learn. I didn't think potatoes and the history behind the PEI potato industry could be so interesting.
27 July 2022 7:59
Such a fun and interesting museum! The whole family enjoyed it. There are things for children and adults to enjoy. Lovely gift shop. Wonderfully staffed on our visit by two women who I'm sorry I didn't get the names of.
04 July 2022 14:35
Very educational but cafeteria was closed so we didn't get to try any potato items on their menu. We were a couple weeks too early for the tourist season.
10 November 2021 11:17
At first we were unsure to visit the museum because accoring to the review it was looking cheap but we were not desapointed

around 1h20 from the bridge

+ a lot of parking spot
+bunch of history on how the potato transform the food habit
+you can find some food in there and the service is fast and the food is good

recommand the potato nacho with extra salsa sauce

Great community run museum with lots of historical, local and personal information and displays about the potato. Perfect for a rainy day activity.
25 October 2021 7:02
Definitely worth a visit. Museum is well done and educational. Cute little gift shop with neat things to buy. If you do buy, they pack it in a potato bag. Nice touch. Cafe has good food. Potato soup is good, but salty. French fries are definitely worth getting.
16 October 2021 12:04
They offer a self guided tour that it was ok. I was expecting more given the fact that this is the canadian potato museum.
Anyway, the food it's worth trying also
30 September 2021 19:35
It was a cool museum. Got the chance to learn a bit about the history of potatoes. There are two museums, one is the potato museum which costs money to get in and the other is about general history.
23 September 2021 15:18
You should see how big the potato is outside! Inside, fascinating exhibits - truly - about potatoes. Don't miss it if you are nearby. Restaurant has seaweed pie and great fries.
16 September 2021 7:59
We love walking through the museum, playing on their outside playground, and getting something to eat. Everything is delicious! Our kids ask to go there every time we head to the island.

Euh!

Very detailed museum tour, featuring many things about the history of potatoes, ranging from the spanish crusades, their origins in south america, their introduction to Europe, and of course, the irish famine. The museum features many different types of tractors and equipment of all kinds, and of course, and potato hall of fame. After the tour you can buy stuff from their potato themed gift shop or excellent restaurant, and then relax at the nearby park. Very enjoyable
11 February 2020 11:21
If you're looking to see various potato diseases and old farm equipment plus the world's lamest, largest potato, then you've found the right spot. Food is good though.
22 January 2020 18:06
Stopped for lunch. Very disappointed in the food. For a museum honoring potatoes the cafe did not live up to expectations. Did not taste freshly prepared, the gravy tasted like it came straight out of a can
29 August 2019 6:03
Great place to learn Potato facts and history. Admission to the museum is inexpensive and staff is very nice and helpful. Restaurant is amazing!
11 August 2019 15:31
We did the farm tour that the museum offers. Absolutely fantastic. We met up with Donna at the museum who was super friendly. She had everything ready and organized. She introduced us to our guide/chauffeur Eric. Eric is a retired farmer who drove us out to a potato farm. Interesting guy and very personable. At the farm we met up with the owner Morgan. Heavy rain that day prevented us from going out to the field but we did get to see the climate controlled warehouse. Honestly the best part was just talking with Morgan and Eric. They are passionate about their community and Morgan was very informative about the science of growing potatoes. A bonus of the tour is a trip to West Point lighthouse. There was also the option of a wool producer but we were a bit pressed for time. This was all followed by a tasty potato based lunch back at the museum, time touring the museum and making potato fudge with Donna at the cafe which was a great deal of fun. Highly recommended the farm tour.

Excellent! This was one of the best things we did on PEI! The staff are so polite and answered every question we har
15 June 2019 12:22
Great place, entry fee is quite cheap for how much info there is. There is 2 parts to the museum, one that focuses on the history of growing potatoes and one on the local history of O'leary. Also recommend you go around lunch, as the potato themed restaurant serves very delicious food!
23 May 2019 20:00
Fun place for a visit. Shame the restraunt only had fries. I was looking forward to trying a few other potato recipes.
06 May 2019 6:57
Really informative museum. I would have liked to have purchased potato fudge but I couldnt find any. Great place to visit on a cloudy day. Be prepared to do a lot of reading.
24 February 2019 8:31
Wow. When you visit PEI you must visit the museum; because you will enjoy the local potato with the local point of view about potato taste.
26 January 2019 7:23
Not a highlight of our trip to PEI but the restaurant was fun to dine in. The museum was ok and that is being generous. I really liked dining in the museum's restaurant though as they do the PEI potato justice. Their poutine was good and their baked potatoes were quite well done. Very tasty potatoes.
