Charlottetown Inn & Conference Centre

Stayed there this past weekend. Checked in Saturday evening. First impressions was not impressed. Our room was across the street from where we checked in. As soon as we walked in to the building you could smell the stale air. The elevator smelled really bad and was rough when stopping and starting. The was gum stick on the floor that was there the whole time. The room smelled musty. When the air exchanger was on the musty smell got worse. There was empty wine bottle in the cupboard. The bathroom was not clean and smelled used. The bathtub dirty. Carpet was dirty. The hallway wall paper was dated and falling off in please. Would not recommend. Complete disappointed.

Horrible hotel, dirty, outdated and smelled. We told the front desk and manager we were checking out a day early and they insisted on charging the full rate for 2 nights. This was one of the grossest hotels I have stayed in for more than 25 years

If I could give this place a lower score, I would.

I was scared to get out of the car and thought it was a joke!
I did end up going in and trying to keep an open mind until we were given our room key.
We understand that the place is under renovation but peeling wallpaper, stained bedding, old dirty carpets, exposed filthy dirty vents, chipped paint and broken doors are definitely not shown in the pictures.
I immediately asked for a refund (which was given without hassle) and left the place.
I will never return, renovation or not!

Beware. Our room was full of mold, the wallpaper was pealing under the sink and full of black mold, black mold in the bathroom, cobwebs all over the walls and ceilings. A/C was a window unit and so loud we could not have it on at night. Staff can not understand what you are asking. Breakfast is next to nothing. Bed was hard and lumpy. Internet did not work at all, they said that the “system went down that day”Their asking price is way too high for the quality you will receive. This is a dump.

The accommodation was fine for two nights but over priced for what it was, old rooms/facilities. Says you get complimentary breakfast, but this was really poor, it was pretty much bagels or cereal and quite disappointing. Great location. Tbh would stay somewhere else next time to get better value for money

I stayed here 3 times this summer. Before the hurricane and after. The front desk staff are engauged when you are checking in. Daniel the manager is a great person to talk to if you have any questions or need help. Before the hurricane there was a traditional continental breakfast. Cereal, bagels, fruit and coffee, there wasn't a breakfast post hurricane as they just got their power back the day I was able to check in. There was some damage to the hotel from the hurricane so expect some work being done if you're going to be there over the next few months.
The location of the hotel is A1 right downtown and walking distance to pretty much everything and a 6 minute drive to UPEI.

There is still some damage from the hurricane being cleaned up so don't hold them accountable for that. However, fruit and butter are lacking from the Continental breakfast. Along with orange juice and cranberry juice from the dispensing machine. The front desk service was great and the staff are very friendly with lots of smiles. The rooms are needing a little more care for the upkeep. Such as cuts in the wallpaper and the electrical outlets are worn out on the lamps making it challenging to find an outlet and no USB ports available. They seem to have ethernet ports in the room but I did not have equipment to test. Wi-Fi is available for free which is very nice.

One of the most disgusting hotels I have ever stayed in my 30yr career. And I have stayed in hundreds. The smell in the hallway is something I cannot put in words. A different smell in the room but equally disgusting. Soiled towels and facecloths spent an entire day and night piled in the hallway. I had charge problems on my credit card. The accounting department never answers their phone and never returns messages. Is it ideally located? Yes. So if your're truly desperate.then book at your own risk.

Went to stay last night. Was there only an hour and a half and found bed bugs on the mattress. Needless to say we all left at once. Then the next day the guy was saying it was only a Beatle, which it wasn't and we took pictures of them when they were found. Never going there again and I advise people not to stay there.

If I could give 0 stars I would. We had a three day stay here on the island. Within the first 10 minutes i was searching for another place to stay. The mold and cigarette smell was overwhelming. I could hardly breath. No way to control the ac. The shower drain was plugged with hair sticking out. No breakfast because the staff had covid with no other plan. The pool had a film over top. The whole time we just felt gross and dirty. WORST EXPERIENCE ever. I have never stayed in a worse place and the staff was not helpful at all.

Have you ever prayed that your daughter upper decked the toilet just to justify the smell that hit your face? Well we have. We were planing to stay here for 2 nights but ended up staying 5 minutes. There was a spider in our room the size of a adults hand, the beds were wet and looked like a child made them, it smelt terrible, the toilet wasn’t constructed into the floor properly, and it is a law that you must have your inspectors note is the elevator and theirs was ripped right off. They rented out some of their rooms to homeless people who we could see smoking when we went to check in. Even the wallpaper wanted to check out because it was peeling off the wall revealing black mold. My daughters toothbrush fell on the floor and well… we just left it there. The windows in the room looked out into the hallway were everyone was staring at us. This place is terrible you should never stay here.

This place needs a serious renovation. Not accessible at all, dirty and overall not enjoyable. The staff was fabulous.

Stayed for a week, no hot water on 2 different days, no housekeeping service, when we asked for cleaning services we were told “no” because they had a large group arriving and couldn’t clean our room, 2nd time we asked they just didn’t come. We had no cleaning for the entire week of our stay. Reservation and website lists a hot breakfast included which they do not have. Muffins, toast and cereal only, they were out of coffee as well. Building was run down, no manager available to talk to, staff were not helpful and cannot even get a reply from any manager through email. The rooms were overpriced for the quality of the inn and the service you receive.

Think of the worst hotel you have been to in your life, this one is worse. Rooms are dirty. Hair in the bed, on the floor, filth on the Walls, matress under the sheets is covered with brown stains. Mold everywhere in the bathroom. Room humid with a bad smell. Disgusting on every level.

BED BUGS! Stay away. I've been waiting to hear back from the manager for 5 days now with no response. I had bed bugs in 2 separate rooms on 2 different floors.

Smells a bit, not overly clean. It’s not a $200 plus a night hotel. It’s a $$70 to $100 a night hotel.

The photo they have on booking websites is very "photogenic" to put it nicely. What a disappointment when we actually set foot inside. While waiting to check in, other guests were complaining about the gross conditions of their rooms and were requesting to be moved to better rooms. (We heard guests complaining at the front desk on two other occasions during our 2 night stay). The room was liveable but not really been maintained. Air conditioning was inadequate. ALL of the sockets were loose and couldn't hold on to anything plugged into them (plugs would all just slip out/off). Bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. Our booking was advertised to include free HOT breakfasts. The only thing hot about the breakfasts were the hot water for coffee, and the toaster for toasting bread. Everything else was just yogurt, bagels, spreads, apples/oranges and juice. Not hot breakfast. (Again, some guests were complaining that they felt they had been misled by what was advertised, and all the dining room attendant could do was sheepishly grin). All of the staff we encountered, with the exception of a young man at the checkin counter (who was great with the guests), ranged from disinterested to very curt to stand-offish. Find somewhere else to stay.

The coffee machine in my room does not work. The bathroom light is nearly burnt out. The bulb in the lamp near the front door is completely burnt out. There were bugs in my room.

If you want to pay 300+ for a hotel that couldn’t even be classified as 1/2 a star then stay here. If you value money find somewhere else. The holiday inn is further away but costs less… and is brand new.

The bad. Well…
1. Price 321, is a joke for one night.
2. Check-in website says you can use a debit card for a deposit. Well as of august 20th I guess you can’t anymore even though the paperwork they made me sign… said that we could.
3. Staff- not having a physical credit card he didn’t want to let us stay…. The other human found a way to make it work. But they weren’t overly hospitable.
4. Smells, was the smelliest place I had ever checked into.
5. Carpets were brown and very smelly.
6. It was hot as heck everywhere. AC was terrible.
7. The pictures online look nothing like the property does. The pictures are from when it was a part of the best western franchise. Now it’s a whole in the ground. So not kept up so outdated.
8. AC in the room, was terrible
9. The stove in the kitchen looked like a fire hazard.
10. All faucets were rusted. Mold along some of the bathtub and sink.
11. The smell.
12. The view! Of another rooms window with an AC unit hanging out the side of it.
Honestly stay anywhere else.
The place is in shambles.

We checked into our room and it smelled of mold, the bathroom tub had a large blue stain which looked like koolaid, the floor was not vacuumed and wrappers were on floor. I went to look at paperwork for wifii and it was covered in food! Absolutely disgusting. We had no other option for the night so did stay but woke up to other guests complaining that rooms had bed bugs. Would not suggest staying here to anyone as would be cleaner to sleep in your car.

Avoid staying at this place!
This is by far the worse place we have ever stayed at. We had originally planned on staying 2 nights but quickly cancelled the second night as soon as we got there. We only stayed the night as by the time they allow you to check in and see your room (4 pm) it was then too late to try and find something else for the night.

The staff is horrible with their service and the Hotel is run down and smelly.
We definitely did not venture down to get breakfast as we wanted to get out of there asap. We will never stay somewhere like this ever again. I would rather sleep in our car really.

Musty, smoky rooms, below fair service on linens, and free breakfast not up to par with other hotels.

We booked for one night, to start the reservation online had said 3pm check in. It was actually 4pm according to them on our arrival. We walked into the room and we had reservations so HAD to shower there, my wife cried in the shower at the thought of spending a night at this establishment. Do not book here, we showered and high tailed it out of there without any apology, refund or offer. Not even a question of why were were leaving, the staff I can only assume are aware of the filth of the rooms. At one point we thought maybe we were getting pranked, this is how bad it is. Do not book, do not stay!

Room Complaints:
• Room was very wet. Carpet was wet, beds were wet and my shoes were moist when we left about an hour after arriving.
• There was no AC, which would have been tolerable if the room wasn’t so wet.
• Bathroom counter was dirty. There was residue on the counter showing me it wasn’t properly cleaned after the previous guest.
• The bathroom floor was very dirty. There was what appeared to be a rolled up bandaid on the floor. See photo.
• There were several little bugs flying around. We seen about a dozen. They were not fruit flies but a similar size.
• The terrible moisture in the room and the very old looking vent blowing air into the room made us question if the air quality in the room was even safe.

This place is disgusting. Rooms stink, hallway is gross.airconditioner duct taped into window. Refrigerator had left over food from previous guests. Bathroom has mold, no hot breakfast. Halls smelled of pot. Coffee in room expired 2years ago, safe didnt work, toilet didn't drain properly. I took pics, but i won't be mean and post them. We booked in the spring, would have left but there wasn't a room to be had in Charlottetown. We tuffed it out for 4 nights.

Hotel was very dirty, hair all over the bathroom from people before us, food left in the fridge, pool has pieces of who knows what floating in it. Very run down from the pictures you see.

Location is about the only good thing about this hotel. My room was not clean. I pulled back my bed sheet and there was long black hair in my bed. The mirror in the bathroom still had toothpaste spit on it. The room was damp and musty.
I grew up in Charlottetown and actually worked at this hotel when it was a Best Western 20 years ago. The state it's in now is shocking. Never again!

I felt intimidated by a staff asking me am I staying here when I came back to the hotel after going out.

What a classic profiling… I cannot even begin to explain how wrong that was. I never stayed in a hotel got asked “are you staying here sir? ” Like I would wonder into a hotel for nothing?

Will never ever recommend this place.

The room has a lot of broken lights, some of them don’t work. Loud air conditioning. Shower is leaky. Old furniture. The TV remote is dirty. Why have an ice machine without ice container? Also terrible WIFI connection.

The only good thing is the location of the hotel is close to downtown.

This is a dangerous place to stay. What I have seen after being here twice was loud and annoying people partying in their room, yelling in the halls, banging doors, people crawling in through windows, police visits and even bums getting in. This place is not safe and I know these guys are from PEI doing it. DO NOT come here on a weekend. Go anywhere else.

Don’t spend a night here if you want a damaged deposit. Complete scam and only way they can keep that horrible hotel running. Stay clear of the security guards they are power blind with their small radio. My friends and I lost $600 off one noise complaint. Stay clear.

Was growled for walking quietly back to my room after the bars. Where else am I supposed to go for the night?

If I could give a 0 star review I would. Denying pool entry to children for not being able to provide ID is insane

The manager wants to id a 9 year old and was horribly rude. I would never come here again. They broke the covid rules of Health PEI. I hate this hotel and I highly recommend to never come here. It is my birthday and he ruined it. I unfortunately can’t give it a 0 star review. It makes me wanna jump off the roof.

Nice comfortable beds and living arrangement. We had a horrible experience with one of the female concierge. Filthy closets. Poor repair.

Stayed in this hotel during our trip to PEI over the last weekend. Biggest let down in the entire trip. One of the worst accommodations I have ever lived in. Extremely sordid, smelly. Not one thing I can think of there that I could appreciate. Same take out muffin/bagel breakfast both days. Was forced to go out for better breakfast. Won’t ever go back even if it was for free. Highly regret booking there.

We very much enjoyed our stay at The Charlottetown Inn & Conference Centre. The room we got was very clean and comfortable in every aspect - beds were cozy and temperature was regulated to well within our comfort level. I know a lot of hotels have cheap window units that never work properly, but that definitely was not the case here. We were pleasantly surprised to see that our room also included a little kitchen with full stove and pots/pans, which helped us a lot since we were at the end of a trip to The Island and had some food left over to cook up for dinner. With that said, the location of this hotel is fantastic, and the price can't be beat. We were very close to all downtown and waterfront amenities, well within a 5-10 minute walking distance. I also very much appreciated their "COVID-Take" on the continental breakfast, offering us paper "doggy" bags that included food & drink items we snacked on during our drive back to Ontario. Even when we had issues receiving our deposit back (housekeeping was not available to verify the cleanliness/state of the room at 6: 30 am when we left), the hotel staff went out of their way to accommodate and rectify the situation, and was very helpful and responsive throughout the whole process. Will definitely return, and would absolutely recommend to friends and family who need a place to stay in the area. Thank you, Charlottetown Inn & Conference Centre, for a very strong close to what was already an amazing vacation.

Had a very musty scent as you walk in both buildings, room was very damp overall. Staff were friendly enough, but the building itself needs a lot of improvements.

I don’t really like to write a review to any business, but this one i must write please guys dont waste your money on this motel! The service guy at the reception is really bad, he ruined my vacation! The price is also high!

They let me have my room a bit early, that was very nice. Rooms were clean with plenty of amenities. Bagged breakfast was reasonable.

They seemed to have an issue with providing me extra coffee.

Cleaning staff slammed doors for about an hour on the Thursday I was there - I was trying to take a nap. I also was accidentally checked out a day early.

The wifi bandwidth was terrible for about half the trip. Completely unusable. The lobby computers are completely out of date, you can't login to Gmail using the ancient browsers. Don't do anything that requires security on those things.

Overall it was reasonable value for my money but I would stay at the Delta were I to visit again.

We had to cancel our stay unfortunately. Out of our control (family emergency). The site said we could cancel until 7: 00 pm. I canceled at 2: 00. We were still charged for the room. Trying to get someone to get in touch with us all week. Many messages. No response H. Dunn

This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had in my life! I was double charged by the hotel manager for 2 rooms, when we had checked out of one room at 7am, and moved everything else to the second room. We were one hour late, and had been honest enough to tell them we would be late checking out. They don't offer late check out and charged be again for BOTH rooms. I will have to go to my cc company and try to get the charged removed. The manager accused me of lying and was the rudest and most incompetent person I have ever met.
NEVER stay here, it's over priced for the grubby rooms and the staff is rude.

The Breakfast was canceled due to “COVID”. The rooms were old and a little rundown. The gym was very old and hot. The pool is a very weird shape. We also payed 140$ instead of more reasonable prices of around 100$ on booking websites. If I’m Charlottetown, pick somewhere else.

These are pictures from the honeymoon suite. The room was disgusting and there were ants. In January. I emailed the manager and we responded with a "We'll look into it". If you want a hotel to stay at venture far from this one.

Hotel is located in the middle of downtown allowing you to walk pretty much anywhere you want in Charlottetown without wandering too far.

Building feels a bit old now and sound proofing is not that great.

The staff was very friendly I will say that. Check in and check out was super fast.

Bed was comfy.
Pretty outdated, so if you’re looking for modern, this wouldn’t be a good choice.
Queen bed room was small.

One thing that was really bothersome is the night staff appeared to have invited friends over to hang out with them? They were quite loud. I’m all for fun but I didn’t pay to stay at a hotel to listen to people be loud as hell not far from my room until about 1am, that’s so unprofessional. You’re at work, grow up.

Also a notice in the room stated that room service will only be provided if requested, we didn’t request room service yet at 9am there was knocking on our door and someone saying “room service”.

Have stayed at this hotel for a few times with my family on vacation in past. However, recent experience has been disappointing. The property repairs have been truly below standards and has been the reason probably for decline. Housekeeping is truly at its worst. Either the housekeeping staff has issues working hard OR maybe the equipment needs replacement. Bathroom and my room had hairs all over, the corners in the rooms are visibly not clean. Air ventilation / vents are horrible looking with visible dust all over. Front desks service is truly very good and they wanna help BUT looks like housekeeping may not be willing to cooperate with them and their requests! Hotwater flow was not consistent.

I was extremely unsatisfied with our stay at Charlottetown Inn. The state of our room was horrible. The room was filthy, dirt on floors & wrappers under the bed, sticky stuff from previous customers, sounded like mice in the walls, there was NO hot water for most of our stay. By far the worse place we’ve ever stayed. I was told that I would hear back from the manager and never heard back.

Top shelf place. Lots of extras. Kiss will love the old arcade style games room and the pool. Parents will love everything else. And huge breakfast in the morning lots of variety.

Old. Run down. Meetings were above the reception area and the washrooms are in the basement. No restaurant. Poor choice for meetings.

It could use a little updating but it's clean and the staff are friendly and helpful! The breakfast buffet is great with lots of options. Location is great and prices are affordable.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Updated rooms with king size bed flat screen tv and shower. The continental breakfast was amazing, they even had a waffle maker! Very short work to the downtown waterfront. Lots of great places to eat close by. Would definitely stay here again.

Parking lot was full of roofing nails from renovations when we stepped out of our truck. Room was not ready for check in at the time we were told over the phone. We were told to return in over an hour and little apologies were made. Hotel did not look nearly as nice in person as it did online. We peeked at the pool before we left. We didn't come back.

The room itself was the size I was looking for to accommodate 5 people. The bathroom had a lot of mould and so did the vent that brought air into the room. The sink in the bathroom was badly cracked and in need of replacement.

Rooms are in need of updating. Went to climb into bed and no fitted sheet, just flat one tucked in. The AC vents are full of mildew. Carpet is stained and has burn Mark's. Pay the extra and get a nice hotel. Wouldnt stay here again.

A great place to stay near the historic downtown with lots of extras. Easy to find and park. Within walking distance of the waterfront and all of the businesses. Comfortable room, great beds, and curtains that allow you to block out the lights. Bathroom well stocked.

Amazing breakfast with options sure to delight everyone. Friendly and responsive staff. Would definitely stay here again when returning to the area.
