UPDATE: from one…to three stars. Pleased to report that, with the assistance and intervention of the Service Supervisor, Craig MacLaren, our vehicle has had the audio/visual/screen functions restored, and we were not charged for the work. In addition, he expedited a refund for the long overdue car rental cost. We are relieved things were made right, while lamenting the length of time it took.

One star for this dealership! On August 28th our vehicle was dropped off here for analysis and repair. We bought an extended Ford warranty when we purchased the vehicle used (off-Island) so this dealership checked that, ordered a new engine and replaced it. But…since the end of August we’ve been waiting for a refund on the car rental cost ($500). And after the engine was replaced the speakers/audio aren’t working, so we took it back to be repaired once AGAIN. (The speakers were working just fine when we left the vehicle in their care.) We verified with Service that the charge would be on them, not us, beforehand. We were advised, that yes, this would be covered. Not so. Slapped with a $143 service call when we went to pick it up. We have spent significant funds at this dealership prior to this date, but we won’t be back. So…unless you have an extra pot of gold laying around, expect to be out-of-pocket for months, and don’t hold your breath while waiting for this Ford Dealership to cover what’s under warranty. Or to keep their word. It also begs the question, ‘what’s the warranty for? !? ’ if I’m out of pocket and funding the rental for the dealership?

What's crucial at this establishment is an improved level of service from their staff. Our experience with the team in Summerside, PEI left much to be desired, although it's important to note that not all staff members were problematic. Regrettably, one staff member's behavior was particularly concerning, as they abruptly hung up on us during a phone conversation, displaying clear signs of frustration.

Our ordeal extended to nearly five days without access to a vehicle due to a missing part. Due to this part missing we could not lock the car and the alarm would go off every 5 min. This in turn further exacerbated the situation by draining the car's battery, rendering it unstartable. Sadly, it appeared that our predicament did not concern the staff in the least.

I cannot, in good conscience, recommend D. Alex MacDonald Ford in Summerside to anyone seeking automotive service. The service staff we encountered exhibited an extreme lack of courtesy and customer support skills. It may be prudent for the establishment to carefully reconsider who they entrust with customer interactions to ensure a more positive and satisfactory experience for their clientele.

Visiting the island from another province, brake caliper seized on my F150 Sept 12th 2023 was going home Sept 19th, called them for help, no such luck wouldn't even look at the vehicle until Sept 25th and no cancelation list really great service.

From Ontario and engine light went on they were able to see us the next day had a cancelation at 1: 00 great 4: 00 just put in. Replaced a spark plug after scan, 45 minutes.
Two days later engine light on, in again at dealer in Sydney. Hopefully it’ll get fixed properly this time.

Be cautious buying used from here. Inspection done day I purchased my vehicle, however traction bar was completely shot which was replaced for the cost associated with the extended warranty however any competent technician would have not only tested it as per Inspection but could have heard it from driving into the shop. Less then 2 months into ownership I replaced the brakes all the way around as they were shot again Inspected the day I got it. Finally now my rack is leaking which I cannot say if it was damaged prior to my purchase or not but be careful when buying used from here. With cost of interest and vehicles in general today there is no excuse that a vehicle relatively new with low km should change hands after an inspection in the condition of what this was in.

The work done was quick and professional with a very reasonable cost. Staff were all very friendly as well.
