Spent several nights at Dalvay by the Sea. The service and staff couldn't have been more helpful. Beautiful hikes in the area and well taken care of.

This inn was built in the 1800s, not I'm not sure what some people expect.but what they can expect based on my experience is a wonderful couple nights stay in a cozy room and smell of wood burning fireplaces. This is an old building thats only 3 floors and very cozy feel to it. There are no tvs, no modern gadgets that would take you away from enjoying this historic building. If you want a coffee maker and a microwave in a room, there is a holiday inn express somewhere on the island. I very much enjoyed the stay at this place, the food is great, the staff is wonderful and the tranquil atmosphere inside and outside is special. Not many places out there you can enjoy a coffee in the main lounge by the fire place in the morning or nice glass of wine at night while enjoying a nice conversation with strangers by the fireplace. Very relaxed place.

We had the pleasure of staying at the hotel for 4 nights. The staff is excellent - warm and attentive. The food is Michelin star caliber. We are still talking about the Lobster Cobb Salad and the Lobster & Goat Cheese Ravioli! A must try. If you can, book a Scalp massage at their Spa. The perfect addition to the hotel. The geese were very entertaining. The hotel is timeless. Make the short walk to the beach. Gorgeous red sand dunes. Beautiful!

A very cozy place to eat on holiday! I really like Canadian geese, they are very friendly and not afraid of people! The dining environment is very good, and the beautiful waterscape design is worthy of attention!

Beautiful old historic place, massive old stone fireplace inside which will have a fire going if cool out, beautiful sitting areas, bar and restaurant, the chowder is best we’ve ever had

Part of the PEI NP's Brackley-Dalvay section. Built in 1895 by former Standard Oil president Alexander MacDonald from Cincinnati, named after his Scottish childhood hometown. This hotel is the ideal place to have a vacation trip at PEI.

Beautiful place with a great historic sorry. We didn't stay out dear here but that would be a memorable event.
13 November 2022 19:43
Wonderful hotel, wooden building inside and out with strong 'western' vibes. The hotel has 2 stone fireplaces with plentiful places to sit and its own book collection which guests can use.
The staff were lovely, particularly? Rebecca who was very friendly and showed us around when we arrived. Hot water is plentiful. Bicycles and kyacks are available to hire.
Some things to bare in mind: the WiFi is very poor and regularly did not work in our room.
Breakfast is $20-$25.

Having said that we would stay here again in a heartbeat and it has been one of the highlights of our honeymoon.

Went for dinner during the week. Mansion was gorgeous, great ambiance. All staff were excellent and charming. Food was outstanding, had the 1/2 lobster, crab and mussel plater and it was a huge portion. Highly recommend.

Dalvay is our absolute must do every year! We spend our anniversary here every year. There is nothing like spending time in front of the fire places that are stoked year round or sitting on the verandah enjoying a glass of wine. We look forward to our trip here every year. It truly is like nothing else you have experienced.already counting down the days until our next visit.

Didn’t stay, just drove by it and wanted to check it out. The lady at the front desk was super friendly and gave us pamphlets to take for future visits. Beautiful house and history behind it.
13 October 2022 12:01
The place is absolutely stunning, may it be inside.or outside. I recommend seeing it.

Their food has to be amazing since I asked for a veg sandwich (off menu) which was delicious

We just enjoyed a lovely meal served by our server Joe, who was absolutely fantastic! We enjoyed the scallop pasta and the steak - both were cooked to perfection.

Four stars only due to the restaurant getting loud as many people arrived for their reservations as our mains were being served.

Great experience overall!

I love the old Queen Anne architecture and the period pieces and decor. It's a very pleasant atmosphere. They have delicious seafood chowder and biscuits, offered among other dishes, in the wood-paneled window-ringed dining room.
20 September 2022 23:25
Disappointing experience for our 30th anniversary dinner. For context I called the restaurant 2-3 days in advance to enquire on the menu due to dietary restrictions. I was rather sharply told by the person on the phone the current menu may be found on their facebook page (see photo). When we arrived and received the menu, it was different than the online version. The entree of our choice (halibut) was no longer on the menu and the bread for two fee increased from $5 to $8 (+60%). The second issue is the slow service. We were seated 10 to 15 minutes prior to a server coming to even take a drink order. The food we ordered was quite tasty. Our server was quite pleasant. There are many other great restaurants to choose from. While the ambience was nice the expectations were not met, hence this review and rating.

Three families stayed at Dalvay by the Sea. We booked 3.3 bedroom cottages for our four night stay.
Location- right in the middle of pei national park. Across from the beach. Miles of beautiful ocean less than 400 m away from try property.
Few minute drive to Brackley beach and the famous Richard's restaurant.
Historic building with lots of pictures and archived information on the building. Lots of character. Fire places on the main floor. Comfortable seating in front of the fires. You can order cocktails and drinks to the seating area. Views of small lake on the property was nice. Tennis court. Playground for kids on the property. You can pay $75 for laundry service.
Accommodations- large, clean and spacious cottages just steps away from the main building and restaurant. Two bedrooms on the main floor and one loft bedroom. New couches in all three cottages. Small bar fridge, coffee maker and microwave in the cottage.
Ac unit worked well. Fans in the loft blew the warm air down to the main floor.
Restaurant- AMAZING! Every meal was delicious. We wanted to meet the chefs to say thank you for two breakfasts, lunch and two dinners. The cocktails were fantastic. Our favourites- everything on the breakfast menu. Chowder. We had two amazing appetizer specials one was on a board with their very own smoked salmon, pickled shrimp, oysters, pickled herring and the most delicious variety of in house baked breads. The mussels were out of this world. I actually drank the broth after all
Of the mussels were eaten.
There were kids options available too.

Honestly, the food was outstanding. We bumped into the owner after breakfast on our last day. He told us that they have new chefs and they are a husband wife duo. It is evident The meals they prepare are done with love and passion for cooking. The presentation was beautiful and the plates were all very unique. All of the members in our group loved the food and will remember it for a long time.

The servers- Emma, Rebecca and eildiah (spelling?) were outstanding. We had the privilege of being served by Emma twice. She was amazing. She gave us tips on where to go and was so kind and gracious. Lots of beautiful smiles and was very accommodating. The servers did an outstanding job of making sure our table was happy even when it got really busy and food was being prepared. The hostess would step in to fill in our water and top up coffee as well. All of the staff looked happy to working and genuinely wanted to be there and serve their guests with a smile and a warm welcome.
We love Emma and Rebecca! All the best in your studies.

Emily at the front desk would join us for a chat after dinner and share island stories. She was also very happy to be working at the hotel.

Thank you Dalvay by the Sea for a wonderful stay.

Not for public visit like other Parks Canada's national historical sites. Parks Canada's website was a bit misleading.

Right upon entering, we were asked by a hotel staff "are you guests here", we answered no and said we're here to visit, they said "we're a business, not for visitors" and asked us to leave. So we just walked outside around the hotel. Unless you're staying at this hotel, it's not worth the trip here.

Very nice property with an interesting mansion that you can visit as long as you are an independent traveler and you are not with an organized group.

The restaurant is a nice experience and requires booking ahead of time. The dishes are not spectacular though, and the price is too high. The experience is mostly for the service and the atmosphere. Cocktails are really average and the dessert it's better to be skipped as it totally doesn't worth neither the calories nor the money.

Beautiful island hotel and restaurant! Then food was delicious, the service wonderful and the atmosphere excellent. You will need to make reservations in order to get a seat. Of you want to enjoy a quiet meal then go before 7pm, as that is when it gets really busy. Charming and elegant!

One of the best places on earth for a retreat. If I ever write a book this is where I'm going. That fireplace is a national treasure. Dave runs this place like a world event. Amazing kitchen.

We stopped by Dalvay By the Sea unexpectedly and decided to stay for lunch. My husband had the haddock and I had the black bean burger with fries. Both dishes were very tasty and surprisingly affordable. The best part of our visit was chatting with our server, a lovely young lady named Chloe who went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed and to answer our questions about the hotel. Would recommend100 %.

Stopped in for tea on cold afternoon. Beautiful late 19th century getaway for the rich now boutique hotel. Ended up having the sea chowder by the fire. Delicious but expensive!

By far, the nicest staff I've come across in all of my travels. From David at the front desk to Tim and the other wait staff. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. I loved hearing the stories of Dalvay by The Sea and all the attractions we could hit around the island. I saw the fatest Fox just running past the hotel. The sound of the crickets and frogs at the large pond was memorizing. The stuffed chicken dinner was so mouth watering. My eggs with smoked salmon was delicious and I must say beautiful. Beds were very comfy and victorian. The hotel smelled amazing with the 2 large fireplaces going. I just absolutely love it here. All 3 of us did. I wish we would have went on the canoes but my boy wasn't up for it. We are already talking of a plan to go up in the fall and spend our entire time just at Dalvay by the Sea. Thanks for keeping up this beautiful place. The history is quite interesting. If you have a chance to get a job here, I'd go for it. I know if I lived there, I would. Can't wait to see this place and the staff here. Miranda, Cassie and Zack.

A lovely stay. The staff were wonderful and welcoming, and the food was delicious! Coffee by the fireplace in morning was delightful. We will be back for sure!

We had lunch in the restaurant. Nice little menu. Beautiful dining room. Enjoyed looking around the building.

Came here for lunch and the service was great. I recommend the chowder, the lobster roll, and the toffee pudding.
10 September 2019 10:02
They’ve had their issues in the past but the restaurant seems to have figured itself out. Come for the historic architectural and stay for the delicious food. The pasta was phenomenal and the beet salad was a fresh take on a maritime classic. You can skip the peach old fashioned as the maple dominates the flavour.

Went for dinner only but would love to come back and stay for a night.
26 August 2019 11:36
Did not stay here, just toured the building and the grounds as they are featured in Anne of Green Gables and I am a fan. It is gorgeous inside. A must see for the area. I would love to stay one day.

Incredible place to stay. The bathrooms are extremely tight which was annoying but everything else made up for it. Get room 207 or 208 as they're a little bit larger. Dinner was outstanding.

We enjoyed the comfortable indoor decor w tea & scrumptious sticky date pudding. It would be wonderful to return to repeat on the veranda next year!

What a beautiful and memorable experience our visit was! My husband and I stopped here for dinner on our honeymoon. I recognized it as the "White Sands Hotel" from all the "Anne" movies:) Our only regret is that we did not stay a night or two with you! The food was delicious, especially the sticky date pudding, the atmosphere was romantic, and the staff was helpful and kind. In fact, our dessert was comped with a "Happy Honeymoon! " message in tow. Thank you so much.
11 July 2019 22:05
The place is amazing, old world charm. The staff is kind, always willing to help and friendly. Kudos to Matt and Antoinette. Well done. Thanks for making us feel special.
13 June 2019 8:07
In a word, peaceful. In the main building there are no TV's and no coffee in the rooms. But instead you sleep to a hint of wood smoke (from the 3 fireplaces in the front entrance and 2 lounges) and the quiet sounds of waves hitting shore, birds chirping and nothing else. Bring a book, or just sit back and relax in the many chairs provided.
