This place has some great bites and a great variety of beer. One of the guys at my table asked for a sour beer and they didn't have any in stock. Our waiter went to a couple of neighboring brewery and restaurants to see if he could find one. No luck, but an amazing thing for him to do. Hats off to exceptional customer service.

The owner is the best! The steak sandwich was delicious, amazing beer/drink selection, a definite gem. Highly recommended!

As always a dining experience at HopYard! We have been there numerous times and have never been disappointed with our meal. Service was awesome as well.

My expectations were high seeing this rated extremely high. However, after ordering food, it was very far from what I expected. Food all had a very weird flavor. I had poutine but it was way too sweet (the thing had general tao flavor combined with a lot of pineapple bits and nothing to balance out all these sweet flavors a bit). Portion per plate/bowl was way too small. The table we were had broken chairs. All and all, I did not like my experience in this place. Could've been preventable.

Top notch food and drink. Great atmosphere. Love the vinyl memorabilia - for those of us of a certain age, it brings back fond memories. Worth your time, to be sure.

Stopped in for a drink and supper, unfortunately we were seated with a glass of water and no one never came back. After 30 minutes of waiting, seated right beside the bar at eyes view of the servers, we left. Very disappointed.

So many vegan options and every one of those is delicious. I'm a non-drinker so I go there just for the food. That good.
Definitely try the vegan Tacos.

Sat outside on a random Wednesday night in August. Lots of people moving around and great to people watch. Beer was pricy but good selection. Staff were nice and helpful when making a selection.

Had an amazing night at this bar. The bartenders are great, the service is excellent, the selection and quality is awesome, and the vibe is top notch. Would highly recommend stopping by.

Beyond impressive that a chef can come up with 25-30 new dishes every two weeks. Even if several of them have no business being served to others.

The food is consistently delicious and the changing menu is fun. They can modify menu options to be vegan or gluten-free. It's one of my favorite restaurants in town.

Wonderful spot - cool digs, beers, vinyl, good vibe, solid food ideas, lovely beer tenders! We went back three times in one week while we stayed.

Went here for dinner had the brioche burger. It was the best burger I’ve ever had and I eat mine plain. Also had the tempura broccoli, delicious! Would highly recommend this place. We will definitely be going back.

Absolutely impeccable food! We had a vegetarian, and someone who is celiac at our table and both of them were able to enjoy multiple dishes. I personally had the lamb curry, jerk chicken, Caribbean cauliflower and fish chowder. We devoured it all! Our waitress Kate was extremely patient and catered to the dietary restrictions as if they were her own. We are going to come back right before we leave.

I'm not much of a beer person but the food here is INSANELY good. I was very surprised as their menu options were very different from what I am use to but everything tasted great.

I am quite hard to "blow away" with a restaurant experience, but this one DEFINITELY did. The Lone Oak South Shore Sour was PHENOMENAL, the BBQ burger on the menu at the time was to die for, and the fries were amazingly salty with a delicious and tantalizing garlic aioli. The cocktail selection was sub par, but everything else was faaaaaaantastic

Nice decor and good food. Most of the seats are high tops. We were lucky that the day we went was wings night. My friend and I both ordered wings. They were lightly breaded, sauced well, and good quality wings. We also ordered the chicken and waffle and it was not what we expected. It was alright.

Have never had a bad meal once there, and the menu changes often so it's easy to become a regular spot! Just wish they had some cocktails!

I want to give this place 5 stars, I really do. On a busy Friday night the service was excellent and the food partially delicious. To be clear - amazing execution, the recipes from my perspective needed refinement. The challenge is that they change their menu every couple of weeks which doesn't allow the kitchen a lot of time to refine and perfect the dishes - not to mention that not everything on the menu is a hit. My partner and I tried 4 items, one was great (Falafel Taco) two were so-so (Philly Cheese steak & Salmon cakes), and one was a bust (Wings). The sandwich and salmon cakes had great potential and a month of tweaking would have made them a home run! The wings were beautifully executed, but the sauce was confused and needed to be reimagined. Amazing vibe, amazing service, great beverages, hit and miss menu. If I could suggest anything as a former restaurant professional - maybe change the menu monthly and allow for some of the most amazing dishes to remain as fixtures.

Delicious meals and a beautiful atmosphere, as well as nice friendly servers! A friend and I ordered some champagne here for New Years and I gotta say I wouldn't have it any other way. Will likely will come back for seconds!

Came here to rave about the Thursday night special - vegan cauliflower wings. To die for! You get a huge bowl for $7, and they are absolutely delicious. I can’t wait to go back and try a different sauce.

I've come for two of their burger love burgers and they don't disappoint. The food & service is amazing. I can't give 5 stars just because the atmosphere is just not for me. I don't like the table settings. Only half is cozy bench and the other side is bar stools.

Best burger i had in a very long time and it comes with a vinegar dipping broth that was perfect to compensate the fat bacon flavour the chicken wings was also delicious i ate so much because it was so delicious couldn’t sleep for 3 hours after the meal!

Food was really good and the service was friendly and prompt. My first experience here but I don't think anyone would be disappointed here if their experience was similar to ours. Lots of vegan and gluten free options if that's your thing.

I was told this place was hit or miss. Unfortunately I experienced a hard miss. The fries were rock solid. It was clear they were 2-3 days old and then reheated. The chicken was tough and also a few days old I’m assuming. Very disappointed.

This is a great little pub with a unique twist! Nice selection of beers to choose from, but not too big of a list that you can’t figure out what to drink. They change the menu every two weeks, so the dishes are really quite cool. Food was top notch for pub food and unique as well. They also play cool vinyls on their record player. I’ll be coming back for sure!

Food was delicious! So many unique options. Good service and fun vibe in the restaurant. It was a bit louder than I expected, more of a pub/bar feel with the music playing vs. A restaurant.

I had the triple stack smash burger and the flavours that popped out of it were next level. Definitely one of the best burgers I've had in a while, albeit messy. But totally worth hosing down afterward

Wish I could give this place a 6/5! The Howard is awesome. They let you pick your own vinyl and put it on. We put on the Pretenders. We also got pickled broccoli as an app and it was delicious.

I think the experience can be summed up in one word: "meh. "
What's unfortunate is that the food has potential, but it's smothered in sauces and mayonnaise which dilutes the overall taste. The atmosphere is good, but it's not better than your typical pub, and as some reviewers have mentioned the service leaves a lot to be desired. Overall, I think there are a lot of better options for pub food in Charlottetown and I wouldn't put Hopyard anywhere near the top of that list.

I ordered onion soup chicken wings. The best wings ever! Beer was ice cold and atmosphere welcoming. Great Service too!

Love the concept, but Hopyard fails to deliver on fundamentals.

Pros:

+ Clean space

Cons
- Servers were busier socializing at the bar than serving guests, some tables waiting over 10 minutes just to get water (restaurant was less than 40% capacity while we were there)
- No warmth or attentiveness from servers; unfortunately falling into that stereotypical hipster trope other reviewers have pointed out
- Beers arrived not very cold
- Not all menu items were available
- The execution on the very tantalizingly described menu items often fell short (over cooked, too much sauce, poor quality ingredients)

Between mostly apathetic, sometimes rude service staff, to warm beers and menu execution that's subpar, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Food and service were fine. It seemed there were few covid restrictions enforced though. There were 65-70 people by the time we left, 7-8 people crowded around tables for 4, people kept pulling up chairs ignoring distance between tables, no dividers between tables either. Patrons walked to other tables to chat without masks on. I've been to many restaurants over the last 6 months and I have never felt so anxious and uncomfortable in one before.

This is place is good if you are looking to eat burgers and fries.
We placed order for veggie burger and chicken sandwich.
Unexpected veggie burger was so tasty, the patties was made of lentils and was cooker so good.
Will prefer to visit this place, it’s worth it.

First time there, we will return. Great service, delicious food, super vegetarian and seafood options. Try it!

It was ok. Not thrilled with the menu. Very loud. A group of about 10 women having fun, but yellinyand screeching like they were at a sporting event. Wish the staff would have asked them to just take it down a bit. If we had walked in after them, we would have left. Staff was very nice.

Great, crazy, food! I had sweet potato fries with some kind of pink dipping sauce that was amazing. Great food only paid $9 in and out.

My husband and I and new baby checked this place out for brunch on a day trip to PEI because of the beer selection and vegan options. We loved it so much that we travelled back across the island for dinner! The food is really that good! Delicious flavour combos, a revolving menu, cool atmosphere and a happy staff. We also met the owner, Mike, who was there at both of our meals and is clearly hands-on at this great local business. Would love for you to open in Oakville, ON! Will definitely travel back to PEI just for the food here.

Good food, good beer, good atmosphere. The staff were friendly and polite. Loved the Moroccan-inspired menu that was available when I went.

Went in well before close but were told they were trying to close early because it was quiet. Staff were having personal conversations at the bar, ignored us so we had one drink and left. Previously, disappointed by the bland, overpriced, small portions of food. Won't return.

Nice concept for the menu, and lively crowd. A nice place to meet with friends for a drink. The dishes could be more flavorful. I had a hot dog that I thought was going to be packed with flavour and adventurous toppings - just turned out to be pretty much a regular hot dog. I hear the menu changes often and some of the pics I've seen from previous menus looked like they had some better options. Wrong timing, I guess.

This was great! Beer was good. Food was amazing. Venue was very clean. Service was perfect. If we’re ever back in PEI. We’ll be back for sure.
