Mill River Resort

Such a pretty course but service is sadly lacking. Booked golf for my husband & friend 10 days in advance. We ended up with a flat tire on our way to the course. I called to advise that we were in a situation and that my husband had a 9: 30: tee time. I said we might be a couple of minutes late due to the tire. I was told it was ok because there was an opening at 9: 40. I gave my husbands name. I was told all was alright. We actually arrived before 9: 30 only to be told that there was no tee time booked under my husbands name. Crazy because I received a confirmation the night before. And now there were no tee times available until 10: 10. Then my husband is told that the 9: 30 pair didn’t show up. Are you kidding me? And to argue and tell my husband he didn’t have a time then say they were a no-show. The guy at the counter was argumentative.
Why did I get a confirmation and why didn’t the guy on the phone not say there was no tee time booked for him when I called. The guys enjoyed the course but the total lack of organization made the experience a disappointment.

Exceeded all expectations. Golf course was fantastic. Accommodations were top notch. Spa service was elite. Dining room was phenomenal. Leaving as raving fans. We will be back next season with sons in tow.

My sister and I stayed for 2 nights over march break with our kids. Everything was perfect except for our restaurant experience. Both nights. We had a reservation for the first night at 7: 30. They finally came to the podium and seated us at 7: 50. They weren’t even busy. We waited with 6 kids. The woman seated us and was not remotely friendly. We weren’t given children’s menus or colouring materials for the kids and the waitress seemed annoyed when she FINALLY came to take our order. We left the restaurant at 9: 30. The food was just fair at best. My crab cakes had drizzled, bottled sweet chilli sauce, which made no sense so I scraped it off. There was a creamy dill sauce on my brisket plate which I’ll assume was supposed to be for the crab cakes, since the brisket came with a barbecue sauce. Night 2, my sister and I had a reservation at 6: 30, we waited in a line up at the podium till almost 7. Our waitress was a different person but equally unfriendly. I have worked in several restaurants as a cook and server and I do know what to expect when I visit as a customer. We shared the nachos which did not have the toppings listed on the menu, but instead were covered in green onion and nacho cheese sauce. That’s it! Like Wendy’s. I got the burger which wasn’t terrible but too salty to finish. We are friendly and patient people and we didn’t complain, but this was a sub par experience and was the only thing that made our trip to mill river just that.

Had a great few days at Mill River last week. Apparently, this is where winter lives, lol. Had some outdoor winter activities for our little boy to play in the snow. Even had indoor activities galore. Amazing pool with slide, bouncy castles, a game room, squash, basketball. So great for a getaway.

You can tell the rooms are going through upgrades, which is nice. They look great though.

The restaurant, I believe, was subpar due to it being a slow time. Not many people there at all and the food quality seemed to lack unfortunately. Good excuse to go for a little drive and see what's around though.

All in all loved the place and we will be back.

Only used the pool. Member for 6-7 years. Newly renovated deck aera, bright clean. The air temperature and and pool water is not suitable for people with arthritis.

Stayed 2 nights room cleaner service stole or threw out my shower supplies and other things. I went to the decks and nothing. No reimbursement no apology. For $200 a night you should have a lost and found. Service bad, rooms dirty, ice bucket had dirt and hair in it. Tubs are stained black or rusted. I'll be finding a better place to stay next visit!

This was my first time being to the property. Took my five and seven year old and had a blast. Great activities that are all easily reached and set up very well. Staff was top notch and very accommodating. We'll be back.

June 2022 - awesome place to stay, and even better they had Lawrence Maxwell rocking the entertain and doing some great classic country covers! The trails are the facility were great to get out and run also!

Our stay was mediocre. The best thing about this stay was the golf course. Would rate this 10/10. The price was fair, the greens were well kept and we had no issues with teeing off on time.

The room was the next best thing. Would rate this 7/10. The room was clean, got freshened up each day by housekeeping. The only negative was the bathroom was small and the water pressure sucked. The renovations they’ve done are very nice although the rooms/hallways aren’t very sound proof.

The worst part of our trip was the restaurant. There aren’t many places nearby so we were stuck getting food at Callaghan’s. I would give this a 0/10 rating and actually preferred eating at Tim Hortons. The service was terrible - it took forever to get a drink or food. My fiancé went down for breakfast with his friend one morning and they actually walked out because no one came by after 30 minutes to take their order…. The food was also awful. The first night it was stone cold and the mashed potatoes were chunky (golf ball sized) like it hadn’t been mashed at all. Extremely overpriced for what you got and I would never recommend eating there.

Beautiful resort, so comfortable and friendly. Something for everyone. Awesome service and facilities for groups.

I wish there were more places to hang out outside. They have such beautiful grounds but not a lot of areas that you can just relax and enjoy the view.

This hotel is false advertising at its finest. It appears to be a fancy somewhat classy place but when you take a closer look, it is not. Unfortunately we had to switch rooms half way through our stay (our doing, that’s fine) but moving to the second room we were put into a room which was located right next to the pool with an almost definite possibility of mold in the room. The smell of the room was overpowering and distracting which made for an uncomfortable stay along with the dirty very outdated washroom. Overall the stay was ok but very disappointing for what you’d expect from their advertising.

Over priced for what you get. Food was undercooked and the service was non-existent… waited over 40 minutes for a drink after we sat down for dinner. In addition, the golf course did not even have a drink kart on the golf course in 30 degree heat at 10,11,12 or 1 pm. It’s very difficult to play 18 holes without seeing a drink cart, but we succeeded even after phone calls inquiring.

Bathrooms are full of mood and over 20 dollars for a glass of wine when the whole bottle is being sold for 12.50 at the LCBO.

Was looking forward to this for a long time as it was planned with family. We will not be returning.

The only bright side was the great entertainment from Corey Gallant. Check this guy out he was fantastic and the only reason there is 1 star.

Save your money and go stay at a motel.

The room and the pool was great. Unfortunately this March break was warm and so all the outdoor winter snow activities were not running (tubing, skating, cross country skiing). Learned a lot about maple syrup in the sugar shack - great experience!
The restaurant is one big thing that needs improvement. Food was terrible and expensive - only thing worth eating was the mushroom flat bread. Other items were either not hot or dry. They cut up a burger patty to pass it as ground beef on top of nachos. Service was slow and they also missed items on the order so we had to wait even longer. Don’t eat there as there are other options near the hotel like pizza, Chinese food and another pub.
Kids had a great time regardless running the halls!

All services for a resort, unexpected gem with still rustic amenities but great for smaller conferences and family or couples get away.

The food at the Callaghan's Is great, maybe a bit pricy but worth it. The Golf course is beautiful and difficult to play. The rooms are immaculate and very roomy. I've been staying here since I was a little kid when I'd visit the island with family.

Fantastic resort the amenities are outstanding the facilities are top notch and the staff is amazingly helpful courteous and there to help!

Very nice. Clean, casual, nice decor, friendly staff. Golf, tennis, water play. Beautiful trees which change all colors at this time of year along the nicely paved access road.

We came here with our two small kids primarily for the water slide & pool. Unfortunately the slide was broken and out of order during our stay. But the pool was warm and a good size.

Location was okay, staff helpful - the restaurant food was disappointing on both occasions we ordered. The first meal with a split pea and ham soup was whole green peas and ham chunks in a tasteless clear broth - brisket meal was ok. Kids enjoyed the fries and chicken nuggets. The second time we just ordered nachos as take out. The cheese was cold and not melted at all. All the veggies were on the bottom under chips and the chicken dry.
Our room was great, spacious - seemed to be recently renovated. On our third day we asked for fresh towels and a coffee refresh on our way out around 9am. Came back around 6 to the room just as we left it. We did call down and get clean towels brought up but this is disappointing.

Renovations are wonderful, a few things still being worked on. You might want to make sure there aren't any weddings happening. BUT.hotel staff are wonderful and will do their best for you and your stay. Beds are comfortable, rooms are clean, restaurant is pretty good too.

Very delicious seafood chowder and she brought me a gluten free bun to go with it. Friendly service.

This place has been renovated and it's beautiful. We had a great stay. The restaurant has a great vibe and tasty food. The people at reception were very helpful and friendly.

Great resort that is super kid friendly. Loved the built in bunkbeds. Loved the pool with waterslide. Food was sensational. The seafood chowder had big pieces of seafood and was the best I have had. The restaurant had kids menu and crayons. Beautifully landscaped! Friendly service; Lois was awesome!

Bel endroit, personnel plaisant et aidant mais le restaurant est à éviter. Le personnel est très jeune et n'est pas entraîné, le cuisinier est loin d'être un chef aux commandes de sa cuisine. Le menu est disparate, on y sert ce qui est au goût du jour, ce qui est loin de plaire à quiconque à une expérience gastronomique. Cet endroit ne plaira pas aux foodies de ce monde. Expérience frustrante. L'Ile du Prince Édouard est loin d'être une destination gastronomique, dommage, la volonté de s'améliorer à ce niveau n'y est pas.

Staff extremely friendly. Greens starting to show wear and tear. Number tens hole was located in the fairway.if your going to do that then offer a discount and let the players know ahead of time

The staff was super nice and friendly. I highly recommend this Resort. It’s a little bit old but comfortable and relaxing.

Newly renovated rooms and bathrooms, nice tennis courts and a great restaurant/bar compared to other choices in the area.

Overall great experience for a spring trip. Beautiful setting, nice to walk the golf course and explore the surrounding community. Rooms were perfect for 5 of us to stay with views of the gold course. There was a few carpet floor tiles that had come up and you could see the plywood base floor which was a little unsightly. The staff were phenomenal and friendly and able to help with any requests we had. The restaurant setting was beautiful, staff were friendly but the food was subpar and for a few food items down right bad.

Beautifully renovated, great pool (slide, hot tub, and dry sona), nice rooms, good restaurant. I stayed once the golf course was closed but they had a squash court which was included and was well maintained. Will definitely recommend for a vacation with or without family.

We stayed mainly to enjoy the pool and get outdoors. The hotel is clean, very friendly and the grounds and playground are nice to play on.

The pool is warm and clean and fun, the air in the pool area is kept warm too which is great. The only warning I have is that because of covid the pool bookings are limited and seem to fill up fast so if you are staying you may want to call ahead and book some pool spots.

Bike rentals looked great, the workout room is good.

We had take out from the restaurant a few times and it was ok for the price, the kids menu is extremely limited and was not very tasty. There is a good grocery store a few kilometers away and other restaurant options nearby.

Overall a wonderful stay we would come back to enjoy the winter activities.

Wonderful resort. Golf course is great and tge food is good. Great for a weekend golf trip with the guys but good for a family stay as well

While visiting PEI for my husband's birthday, we had a difficult time finding a nice restaurant that was still open 'out of season'. A local had recommended this restaurant, so we decided to give it a try. I emailed twice, and left a voicemail trying to book a reservation and no one returned my messages. I finally called the pro shop who connected me to the restaurant.

When we arrived, it was a bit hard to find the restaurant with no signage but we made our way there. We were seated fairly quickly, and ordered a tea and a glass of water. When the server brought our beverages, she didn't bring milk or cream, or sugar. I also didn't get a spoon. I had to ask for both.

My husband ordered the onion soup for his appetizer; he said it was rich and delicious, and the roll that came with it was really flavourful and warm and fresh! For mains, I ordered two appetizers, bacon wrapped scallops and the root vegetable fries, and my husband ordered the crab cakes with roast potatoes.

Here's what I can say - their menu isn't extensive, which is actually quite nice because there's enough variety for everyone but its focused enough to provide really great quality. Their mixtures of flavours and textures are really promising, but its the execution of service that was disappointing for us.

My husband's crab cakes looked and smelled delicious, however, the roast potatoes seemed to have lost their crispness and the creme fraiche on the crab cakes had sat long enough it had soaked in. They were, however, the best crab cakes we've ever had and the balance of the creme fraiche was delicious!

My root vegetable fries were tasty; I loved the parsnip ones. However, they were a bit flimsy, likely by sitting a bit too long, similar to my husband's meal. My scallops were meant to have a pineapple curry sauce on them, but after the first bite, I could tell they were plain. Cooked well, but plain. When the server stopped by to ask how things were going, I said perhaps the sauce had been forgotten and asked if she could check with the kitchen. She then proceeded to tell me how 'its brushed on when they're fried, and I must be missing the flavour' and left. The scallops are not fried, they are oven baked, and I knew for a fact there was nothing on them, so when she returned again after noticing I was not eating them, I asked her kindly to check. She came back from the kitchen with a small dish of sauce and said the 'kitchen made an error'.

Here's the thing - I've worked in kitchens. I've been a server. When there's a mistake, please don't argue with the customer that they're wrong; even if they are! Take a moment to check with the kitchen and return to the table. And if it was an error on the kitchen's part, don't point blame at someone on your team. Just apologize that a mistake was made and ask how it can be fixed. The sauce by the way, was delicious! I really enjoyed it. I would have never thought about putting pineapple and curry together, but the sweet heat worked for me! The plating was also quite nice, and you can tell the chef (s) put pride in their work.

I didn't finish eating my scallops as I chewed into a muscle on one which was unfortunate but it happens. Flavour was on point, the kitchen has a great menu with lots of potential. The restaurant was nice until the lights were turned off near the end of our meal and we finished eating in darkness, which just seemed odd for 6pm at night just as the restaurant was getting busy. Based on our experience so far, we decided to bypass dessert. Our bill was nearly $70 which seemed a bit high for what we ordered.

All in all, we had an ok experience. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and a lot of thought and detail has gone into the menu and dining room. For me, it was just so many little things that were overlooked throughout service that could have made a big difference in the enjoyment of our visit. It wasn't overly busy, so perhaps just a bit more training on the floor side of things could help.

Very challenging course. Played in a tournament there and had a great time. But would definitely go back to play a round. Worth the trip upnerdt for it.

Beautiful rooms, great hotel, delicious food at the restaurant and a great golf course, I've stayed in August and again in September, love this place!

Staff was EXCEPTIONAL! The grounds offer delightful sights, activities and all covid measures are in place.

Poor service, slow getting a table even with reservations! Too expensive for what we got! Never again

The childrens birthday party booking, esp. The room they provide.leaves a lot to be desired esp. For the PRICE.

Customer service was top notch. Recieved an upgraded room. Recent renovations are modern and contemporary. Beautiful landscape and a large array of activities both in winter and summer.

Burnt buffet that looked like it was there for two hours. Terrible experience dealing with outdoor activity personal, not worth the money.

Callahan's restaurant serves at most reasonable prices fish filled chowder, beef filled beef n barley soup, chef ceasar salad and many more item.
Our server was so pleasant, full of life and pleasant.
This is an all season resort that must be experienced. Excellant.

WHAT A HIDDEN TREASURE! Recently renovated and incredibly modern now - it's got golf, a spa, great pool with a water slide, trails, tennis, and so much more and it's located in rural PEI so you've got the friendliest staff around. Perfect for a romantic getaway or a quick family vacation. Winter OR Summer. Highly recommend Mill River.been here many times.

We were camping here but thought it would be a better idea to stay at the resort while Dorian passed. We packed up our coolers with food, grabbed some clothes and the dogs, and enjoyed a safe night indoors. We lost power, and the staff apologized for no amenities for our stay. We assured them we loved our room, even in the dark, because we felt like we were camping "in a safe place. " They even lent us some plates so we could make dinner by flashlight. Thank you for everything!

We booked into Mill River Resort for a funeral and they gave us a special rate. The hotel was recently refurbished so it was very bright and clean.there is no complimentary breakfast at the restaurant;you have to pay.a fairly good choice for breakfast, though no buffet
Prices ranged from $4 for a Bowl of cereal to $10 for 1 egg and $12 for two. A fried egg bacon cheese sandwich was $9. There was also choices of fruit for about, $9.
In the morning, when I went to take a shower, there was no hot water. Gentleman at front desk said the boilers were just turned on.suspect it was due to Durian, the hurricane that ripped through, Nova ScoyiaNew Brunswick and PEI a few days before.
Overall, it was ok.though they could have notified the hotel guests that hot water for showers would be late in coming on line.

The reno's are done beautifully. Rooms are great clean.dinning area was set up nicely staff was very kind and helpfull.the pool area needs some love.great breakfast at a decent price

A different layout and topography than other PEI courses but still challenging. Greens were very tricky. Course conditions could be a little upgradef

Awesome spot on the west side of the island. I don't know why we haven't stayed here before. The resort is recently renovated inside and is beautiful. We stayed in a room with built in bunk beds that the kids just loved. Rooms were clean and well appointed. The restaurant is great and the food was very good with ample portions. The golf course is beautiful. There are so many things for a family to do we felt like we didn't need to leave the resort. Daily activities for kids and the pool and water slide were a hit. The resort staff were all very helpful and friendly. Parking is good. We will definitely be back.

The only thing I would note if I had to nitpick was that if you are staying on the third floor near the ends you cannot get your luggage trolley to the rooms. You have to stop at a small flight of stairs and carry your luggage to the room. Not a big deal but when unpacking with a bunch of kids it was a bit tricky.

My family and I spent an amazing weekend at this resort. The food was delicious, lots of amenities and activities. The rooms were very nice and clean.

Fantastic course, challenging 5800 to 6800 yard course. Beautiful rolling terrain, water and sand hazards. There for charity event and tournament club house very clean comfortable great catering as well

Stayed during a softball tournament they had the best gluten free hamburger couldn't tell it was gluten free at all one of the best burgers I have ever had. Can't recommend it enough great service great people fabulous place to stay

The only con is lack of supervision of children late at night (after 11) - quite loud in the hall. Obviously poor parenting, but staff should have talked to them. This has happened to me here before. If there’s a sports tournament in the area, ask fo room we’ll away from the noise.
I did not eat supper here the breakfast good. Staff are quite friendly.
I’ll be back!

We all couldn't have had a better experience except for the weather and there is only one fella that can control that and it's not Mill River!

Just a fair outfit, internet terrible, smart tv in room but couldn't use it as a smart tv, beautiful spot.more attention needs to be made to detail.

Just completely renovated. Wonder local woodwork and other artisans integrated beautifully in the decor. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Highly recommend!

This is a beautiful location for a country club like this. It was being renovated at the time we stayed but we would go back there for sure. The restaurant was excellent.
