Rodd Charlottetown

Stayed here on New Year’s Eve. Front desk lady took forever to check us in, didn’t really seem to know what to do since we booked through another site. Very little parking available. They sent us to the back of the hotel, and then tried to charge us extra for parking even though it was included in the price. Rooms were very dated and small, older style SMALL flatscreen TV. Two dead bugs found on the floor. Wall paint was chipped in numerous spots, one lightbulb was out.

Stayed here just recently, staff was super nice and the room was comfortable. Also during a time when Prices for everything are up this Hotel was better priced then any in the area. Will definitely stay here again.

Love this Victorian hotel and glad it is being renovated but our room was cold and the heater so noisy we had to turn it off at night to sleep. Left it running all day trying to warm it up but it never did. Didn’t report it because I didn’t want the inconvenience of repair staff or changing rooms.

The rooms are old.because the place is old. So that makes sense. Real keys, etc. The staff is amazing and helpful and housekeeping went out of their way making up our room when we were out. Location is a block from the local shops and a short walk from the water.

The rooms are extremely old and in desperate need of maintenance, if not an upgrade. Front desk did not ask for feedback on stay when checking out.

AVOID AT ALL COST! This is my second stay here. We stayed here back in 2017 and it was fine. This time we got a room on the second floor, the first night the room next door had a big family with kids, we could hear loud screaming and random knocking on our door around 11pm. Understood the building is old and sound proof probably not great. We just try to sleep with the noise.

The second night, there was a wedding at one of the banquet rooms downstairs. The music was loud and you can feel the floor in our room shaking. Reception says they booked the venue till 12 am. I’m fine with weddings in hotels, but given the age of the building and the non-existing sound proof walls, I don’t quite understand why they would allow venues to be booked till midnight given other guest that are not attending the weddings need to sleep. If you want a quiet night of sleep I wouldn’t suggest coming here.

I bought the package with breakfast. And all breakfast vouchers with date stated were received. However, I was still unable to have my breakfast due to all tables were full due to Father's day. I was told that reservation was needed What a ridiculous experience, paid and with voucher still requires reservation. Room is very small. And needed to wait very long time for hot water.

Old hotel, quaint and very nice but as old hotels go it has some HVAC issues. Excellent staff helped move us to another room. Tip! Get a room on the north side of the building. Quiet and cool. Located close to everything. Highly recommended.

We stayed a few nights here during our family vacation. Firstly, we all absolutely loved the entirety of PEI. It was amazing.

The hotel is older and definitely has an older vibe. The room was small and the bathroom was only ok. The room we were in could do with a make over. I think I was allergic to the carpet.

The terrace was lovely. Fantastic views and really nice to watch the sunset.

The location is excellent and the price was great.

Location is close to shopping and restaurants. We walked everywhere. Room was clean. Beds were comfy other than when I tried to sit on the side of it and the edge jabbed into me. Not very sound proof. Could hear people walking by and the elevator but nothing that would stop us from staying again. Enjoyed hanging with our family on the patio. Will definitely be back.

Cons:
They just declared no room cleaning (past Covid excuses)

Dated hotel with maintenance issues
- Clogged shower drains
- Luke warm showers
- Rust on heater in bath room
- Shower grouting that was warn
- Paint on building needed
- Pool deck that was slippery and I saw 3 people fall in 2 hours (including adult)

Pros:

Comfortable beds
Free water/coffee
Kid liked water slide

So dated, smells bad and parking lot fills up so you don't get your free parking. The AC actually worked well and wasn't too loud like some places, but the bed was terrible (visibly lumpy).

Nice bed and pillows in a fairly aged hotel. The front of the hotel reminds me of a movie featuring Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour - Somewhere in Time.

We visited this hotel and spent 3 nights here. One night on the fourth floor and 2 nights third floor. It’s located at downtown PEI and location is very convenient in to oceanfront.
As for the hotel, I must say was a bit disappointed. I definitely understand keeping the historic look and history but the room was okay at best.
I can see they renovated the washroom but I’ve never had the sink so tight that when washing face or brushing teeth water will drip down onto the floor. You must angle yourself to prevent this and even then this is tight. It wasn’t just our room but others that went with us had the same issue.
My three nights was spent on the 3 and 4 floor which are the higher floors. My friend which was on the first floor was hugely disappointed because the wedding banquet lasted until 1am with music blasting and completely disrupted their night.
I do understand all hotels have functions like this but there needs to be a time when the music stops. Not well into the morning which is disturbing the guest who stay there.
Parking was good as there is street parking and if no spaces are available there is parking at the back.

Our room was a Queen. Quite small but functional. Our bed was extremely soft and uncomfortable. Location to downtown is great

Rooms weren’t anything special. The breakfast was good, but should be for almost $30. Not the best hotel I’ve stayed at in the area, but it worked.

TRES Bien situé, beau cachet, visuel rapide satisfaisant, mais rapidement déçue de constater la poussière accumulée sur le coin du bain, cheveu au lavabo, propreté douteuse! Tapisserie décolle au plafond.très bruyant comme endroit, dejeuner correct.

It's ok to stay at Rodd Charlottetown Hotel Because They could go for a swim in my hotel pool and use my bath

Bathroom door wouldn’t close, it was left cracked open for the 3 days when in use. If you somehow managed to close it, someone from outside the bathroom will have to open the door and rescue you. If you were here alone, this would be scary. Door knobs are all flimsy. Carpet could be cleaner. Shower where tap attaches, base mount coming off.

Rooms are kind of tight, not sure how they advertise maximum 6 people. Bathroom is very small. There were 5 of us, 2 adults and 3 young children under 12.

Plenty of towels, room was clean. Wine in room was reasonably priced. Staff were friendly. Location was ideal to walk to restaurants.

Parking, they always had trouble with spots, we stayed 3 nights. Lot is usually full.

I would never choose this hotel if I had other options.
It is a very old building you need a actual key to open your room. That should explain something for you. Parking is difficult, they probably have less than 50 parking spots in total. I had to park on the street for 3 days since I finish work at 9 pm by the time I come back to my hotel there will be no parking available, Very inconvenient.
Go to holiday inn or something people.

Notre deuxième visite au Rodd, l’hôtel est passé de 5 à 2 étoiles en 9 ans. Nous y sommes restés 4 soirs (chambre Queen au 4ieme). Problème de climatisation, même avec un ventilateur, il faisait au moins 25-26 oC. Pas de ménage dans les chambres, pour nous protéger semble t-il, seules les serviettes sont changées. Peut être un problème du manque d’employé? D’autres hôtels (Halifax et IPE) nettoyaient notre chambre. Restaurant fermé le dimanche soir. Bien malheureux car nous ne reviendrons pas ici.

Price was good. Atmosphere and hotel was nice. Deceptive though. Mould smell from a/c, front desk clerk was not happy and treated us so, central was great. Toilet was too close to sidewall 3”. Couldn’t sit on it comfortably.

Amazingly refined hotel with modern fixtures. Hotel smells great except for the closet but you just keep that door closed. Restaurant is high quality breakfast. Real Eggs, Sausage, and bacon. Easy walk to landmarks with lots of free parking. A true gem

Loved my stay at the Rodd Charlottetown! This hotel has a nice historic feel and also in an excellent location to downtown charlottetown and the boardwalk. Parking is also free which is a nice touch. Will definitely stay here again.

Quite a cute little hotel. The rooms are small, but the location and amenities are decent for a hotel of its' age. The location is very good, although the parking availability is quite small, especially when the hotel is busy. The air conditioning is a bit noisy and breakfast selection is a bit limited in the hotel restaurant.

Their burger love is juicy and flavorful! And I would like give 5 stars to their front desk guidance, environment and staff service. By the way, their seafood chowder is great also, even though it’s a little salty to me.

The Charlottetown Rodd Charlottetown is a place where you can stay for one night or as many nights that you need and the Breakfast comes with the price and the staff is friendly and helpful too

I was hoping it was haunted, but we will see how night two is. Very friendly and accommodating. Close to all amenities.

My favorite part of this was the old haunted buildings kind of vibe. We only spent two nights there and didn't explore much, however the decorations consisted of older looking furniture and wallpaper, black and white pictures hung of the wall and there was even a ballroom connected to the lobby. The doors are opened with a key instead of a key card and they lock automatically once you leave. Also, the bathroom are well renovated and taken care of. This was probably our favorite hotel while on the trip.

Great warm pool. Semi-available parking when it's needed. Room and bed was much smaller than expected and certainly hotel is not considerate for guests with small children. Overall a very clean hotel with frequent visitors traveling by bus.

The first 10 minutes of check in was nice aha. The lobby is lovely, the roof is nice, the pool and sauna were ok. Friendly staff, we were upgraded for our anniversary. Stayed 5 nights, wish we could have checked out after the first and get our money back. We were put in a double room, you think for an anniversary they would at least put you in a queen bed.

Was upgraded to the 4th floor that’s supposed to be quieter after 10 pm. Had many times of people yelling at 2am. Can hear the neighbours word for word through the walls. Found a sock and a pop can and chip crumbs under the bed, bed is saggy. Shower has no pressure. Took me 30 min to be able to rinse shampoo and conditioner out of my hair. The bath would only fill up a quarter of the way before it would start to drain.
Plugs didn’t work except for the USB ports on the radio. Wall paper peeling and water damage on the ceiling. Door to the suit had to be slammed to close it. Very small rooms. Had no idea where to put our two suitcases without stepping over them constantly.
Was almost in tears from the stress and smallness of the room. Felt like a motel rather than a hotel
My husbands first words walking into the room was “this is an upgrade? ”
Wish I could have checked out earlier.

I get it’s supposed to be a hotel with character, but overall felt cramped and trapped for the amount of money.
Could have booked a room for the same price that’s twice the size, that has a jacuzzi in the room and includes breakfast.
Regret booking here.

I wish there were more stars i could give this hotel. The only way to understand how great this hotel is to experience it. You will be transported to the year when it was built. It still holds a majestic aura to it. Usually very old hotels still have the "old" funky smell, even when it has been renovated. But I challenge you to find, old carpets, walls or doors paint hundred times over or even squeaky doors anywhere in this hotel. Even the elevator was renovated to probably it's original condition. The staff will put a smile on your face every time you walk by them. This hotel still gives you an old school key, as opposed a card. Ample parking avaliable behind the hotel.
The best part was a surprise $200.00 gift card for staying 7 days at the hotel. Most of the restaurants and gift shops accepted the card; which saved us lots of money. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Charlottetown, PEI.
