Au Papier Japonais

I've been to this place multiple times and plan to go back many more. There really isn't a place like it that I've been too. It is a bit small and cramped, but I don't mind.

I am an origami folder as well as just an artist and paper is a very important part in that. This place is perfect for me to find exactly what I need. And not to mention the staff are always super helpful in helping me do that.

Be careful though, the prices are great! But they will stack up. On evrrage I find most pieces of paper (of the larger variety) go from 5-7 (and the most expensive I've seen around 15). But that little price adds up.

Anyways still love the place and love love love the atmosphere.

A little gem of a boutique that offers beautiful Japanese paper and artist supplies as well as a selection of books, ceramics, earrings, etc.

Just happened upon this hidden gem! The staff were so helpful and pleasant! They have a great selection of fine quality products!

Il y a de très beaux papiers de type japonnais et pour écrire. Ainsi que des créations d'artistes (cartes, signets, etc.) et des accessoires tels pinceaux et encre. Prix variables. Point important, le personnel est sympathique et serviable.

Such a lovely store! Grab lunch from Wilensky’s next door and then stroll into this shop. Beautiful prints, lots of different paper, little care packages of an assortment of what they carry. Stan, the owner, is passionate, caring and welcoming. A great storyteller and a wonderful energy. Will be visiting again when back, even if it’s just to say hi and browse!

Love this place, I bought a lovely bag and a beautiful paper from here. I Iframed the paper and hung it at home. Joyful experience

I visited the store yesterday and the person helping me (I believe it was the owner?) must have spent nearly an hour with me, helping me select different types of papers to sample, suggesting alternatives, checking stock… and then putting so much care into securely packing things up for me because it was raining. My total only ended up being something like $16, so it’s clear that they genuinely want to give good service just because it’s important to them and it makes them happy. Truly such a lovely experience! I will be back often!

If I could give 10 stars I would! Great store with beautiful Japanese paper, but customer service was the real star of the show. I bought some larger size paper that was packaged up to protect it while travelling, however, I ended up losing it while navigating through the airport. After contacting the owner of Au Papier Japonais to re-purchase, not only did they re-order a replacement which was no longer in stock, but they didn't have the heart to charge me again, so they replaced the items at no cost to me. It is refreshing to find a business with both heart and soul, and I can't wait to go back on my next visit to Montreal!

Une très belle boutique pour s'approvisionner en papier japonais, encre et autres matériaux. Un choix de livres intéressants. Les propriétaires sont sympathiques.

Superbe magasin intime pour la papeterie Japonaise et crayons et brush pour lettrages. Excellent service amicable. J'y retourne souvent!
