Auberge du Plateau

J’ai passé une très belle nuit et un très bon service de les employé très belle chambre avec balcon excellent.

Je viens de passer plusieurs jours dans cette auberge, accueil super, personnel au top, gentil, serviable, petit déjeuner top, propreté rien a dire, Big UP spécial a Romain, Michelle et Fanny,
Je reviendrai et vous recommande cette marque établissement

Speechless.

1. They made it mandatory to cover the bed with sheet, otherwise punishment of 50 dollars per day. They didn't tell me when I checked in, so I didn't know the rule existed at all. I thought it was optional like other hostels.

2. Kitchen locked after 9pm, if you just want to access the fridge and take a drink, no way. No breakfast until 8am.

3. Two back doors are opened by staff from time to time (open for at least 2 minutes on average), cold air directly goes in, a bit cold sitting in the lounge.

4. No matter how careful you are, walking on the wooden floor always makes noise.

5. For the gentleman who prepares breakfast for guests, could you whistle less often and not too loud? You are very friendly and willing to help, I saw that. Sometimes your whistling is a bit high-pitched.

6. Wi-fi not impressive, about 11 Mbps and many people use it simultaneously.

7. This is not the fault of this hostel, my room was 207 with 8 beds, at least 2 people did not take a shower for at least 1 day (very likely did not change clothes as well), the smell was amazing and unforgettable. Imagine sleeping in the same room with those people. They already paid for it but decided not to use the shower (there are plenty of rooms for shower) to keep themselves clean? I never know.

I only booked for 3 nights, so not the worst.

J'ai résidé 3 fois dans cette auberge, d'abord en chambre individuelle, puis en dortoir de 8 et enfin en dortoir de 6. L'établissement est très bien situé dans Montréal, on peut aller visiter beaucoup de choses à pied et le métro est à 5 minutes à pied. L'auberge est extrêmement bien tenue, c'est très propre et très accueillant. La salle du rez de chaussée est un vrai lieu de partage entre voyageurs. Le petit déjeuner est de très grandes qualité avec des pancakes tout chaud à volonté. Pour moi c'est la meilleure des 5 auberges de jeunesse que j'ai fais durant un mois au Québec.

Super auberge de jeunesse, très bien située sur la rue Sherbrooke, point de départ idéal pour une visite du Plateau. Le personnel est top, les chambres bien aménagées, et les espaces communs son très agréables. Je recommande!

It does not have an elevator, and stairs are super steep. It's not a comfortable place.

Very friendly hostel, the staff are very attentive and informative. The dorms are good with comfortable beds and even a small balcony in my room, which is very pleasant! The showers and toilets on the landing are clean. The kitchen is large and perfectly functional, with a big plus for the free food cupboard to avoid waste! Very good breakfast too (thanks for the pancakes!). And then the perfection of this inn remains its terrace with lots of flowers, sofas, tables to spend convivial moments or to work, I highly recommend it!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hostel is cute and homey. The shower is inconvenient without a sink and bench or chair to put stuff on. Some soap would have been helpful. Sink in the toilet was clogged. The only other sink on the floor was in the room and I didn't use it to avoid waking roommates up at night. I went to a different floor to brush my teeth. The breakfast was great.

Fantastic staff, always there to help and very friendly. Dorms were as clean as expected, and as a bonus our room had a balcony with a nice view. Great pancakes too!

Great place to crash, great crowd, good breakfast in the morning and amazing location. Staff were all inclusive and we never felt uncomfortable here.building is classic and historical but extremely well maintained.more then enough power outlets on the beds, bathrooms were a touch conjested but overall a 5 experience well done team.

Amazing place! They have towels, complimentary breakfast and clean water refill.the light on the 3rd floor was out though when we got there on the first day so we had to use flashlights to walk up the stairs but overall, really great place.would stay here again.

Service here is beyond top quality. Breakfast is great and there's an excellent sense of community all around! Rooms were also super comfy!

Superbe auberge, idéalement située. Nous y avons voyagé à 3 et nous nous y sommes sentis hyper bien. Très propre, literie confortable. Personnel accueillant, petit déjeuner incroyable avec pancakes faits maison.

I stayed in a semi-basement twin room with private bathroom for a few nights and had a great experience. The staff and other guests were friendly, the room was clean and WARM (which was a huge plus for me as I'm used to a way milder winter than what Montréal has going on in February), no issues with water pressure or temperature. Really enjoyed the pancake breakfast in the lounge (there were also hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, toast, orange slices, plus coffee and tea)! The room I stayed in had a separate entrance from the main building - you had to go down the street a bit and then the door was in an alley (right on the corner, though, so you didn't actually have to go down the alley at all), which opened into a foyer shared by three private rooms. The room had a exposed concrete floor which was awkward and the mattresses were on the hard side, but these are minor complaints and for the price I'd gladly take these little things over more serious problems.
The only thing that was actually off-putting to me was that I could hear conversations from the next room, and during my first night, there was a lot of weird banging/door slamming that I hope was just guests coming and going, but I have no idea why it was so aggressive. The conversation thing would probably be a non-issue for most people - I'm just really sensitive to noise - but these people were keeping their volume at a normal level and kept quiet at night, it was only during the day that I could hear them.
If I were visiting Montréal again and needed a place in this area, I would for sure choose this place again because the vibe was very pleasant, the accommodations were functional and comfortable enough considering I wasn't spending a ton of time in the room, and despite the night noises, I had the sense that the place was "legit".

Submerge du Plateau is a great place to stay for backpackers. The morning breakfast there is great where you'll get to meet new people!

Une excellente adresse! Super rapport qualité-prix avec un petit-déjeuner inclus et un emplacement proche de la station de métro Sherbrooke et de divers quartiers de Montréal. Personnel très disponible et serviable. En dortoir: emmenez vos propres cadenas (ou achetez-le sur place)

Excellente auberge avec un personnel généreux et humain. Le petit déjeuner est très bon. Les équipements de l'auberge (Cuisine, salon, Rooftop, sanitaires) sont vraiment bien. La localisation est aussi excellente et centrale

You get what you pay for, but that’s not a complaint! I was looking for affordable accommodations in montreal & came across this hostel.it was my first time staying in a hostel, so I was quite nervous.it can be overwhelming, noisy, and a little tight on space but nothing I didn’t plan for. I would 100% stay here again.my only complaints are the parking (but you’re in the middle of the city so it’s expected) & the breakfast is very specific so for me with a gluten allergy I had to eat elsewhere but for the price its awesome they offer any sort of breakfast, so i’m not upset it didn’t work out for me!

The employee that made my experience at this hostel unpleasant openly said nobody would care about what I had to say, so here goes. Overall, I was having a nice experience at the beginning of my stay. However, I made a mistake, since I didn’t know the bunks in the shared bedrooms are pre-assigned (this kind of thing tends to vary from one hostel to another). It wasn’t in the info provided when I booked. They probably explained it to me at check-in, but maybe I just missed it, which would be my bad (I have ADHD, so I tend to overlook things). So, when I arrived, I just picked an unoccupied bed. The day after, an employee entered and questioned me about the bunk I was in. She filled me in on the policy, I acknowledged my mistake, offered to change bunks, 100% willing to fix it. However, she proceeded to act in an extremely rude and condescending way, scolding me like I did it on purpose to be a nuisance, and being overall nasty. Still, I kept composure and continued to be polite even though it was clear I didn’t deserve such treatment. Needless to say, this incident ruined my entire (albeit short) stay. Next day, she was at the front desk when I went to discuss my check-out. Afterwards, I mentioned the incident, and although she admitted she acted nastily, she kept making me responsible for her behavior. When I talked about maybe writing a review, she mocked me, bluntly telling me that nobody with two braincells would care about what I had to say, that I was just trying to “blame-shame her” (whatever that means), and that she didn’t care what I wrote or whether I’d ever stay here again. This employee’s name is Hillary, and I didn’t see her treat other guests in this way. To handsome, white guests, she would be completely nice, which makes me think maybe there was a racist component to her behavior, but i cannot be sure (I’m visibly a non-white latino).

Une belle auberge idéalement située, très calme et conviviale!
Chambres très joliment décorées et literie très confortables. Belle bâtisse avec parquet et murs de briques rouges, salles communes très agréables.
Nous sommes arrivés assez tard et tout était prévu pour nous.
Il y a suffisamment de douches et toilettes pour tous.
Il y a en prime un petit déjeuné servi, avec notamment un très bon café.
Tout le staff est super sympa, on s'y sent bien.
Je recommande vivement et reviendrai avec plaisir

Hôtel/auberge bien situé au pied du quartier du plateau. Petit-déjeuner simple, complet et convivial avec pancakes à la demande très appréciés aussi pour la gentillesse des employés.
Chambre privative avec deux lits, climatisée tranquille, mais sol pas propre.

Mauvaise expérience, nous sommes arrivés sur place et quelques jours avant nous étions déjà restés et tout allait bien, avant de partir nous avons réservé et PAYÉ pour une chambre pour trois personnes, une chambre privée avec une salle de bain car ils ont des chambres privées et non privées. Nous sommes arrivés de nuit et quelle a été votre réponse? La réceptionniste nous a dit que l'hôtel était plein et qu'il y avait une chambre avec un lit double, qui ne pouvait manifestement pas accueillir trois personnes.nous leur avons dit de nous résoudre.parce qu'elle nous a dit littéralement "voyons s'ils convenaient", nous sommes redescendus et lui avons dit que nous ne correspondions pas. Ils nous ont dit de voir si un lit est libéré. Ensuite, l'un de nous a dû aller dans une chambre partagée avec 6 personnes et nous deux dans un lit double et sans salle de bain privée, mais cela a été payé pour une chambre privée pour trois personnes avec une salle de bain privée et ils ne nous ont pas loués le pire. Terrible expérience, gestion épouvantable, il faut souligner que le personnel est très sympathique

Il y a 1 an nous sommes parties entre copines pour un voyage au Canada de l'est et de l'ouest. Nous avons dormi dans cette auberge, et c'était une première pour nous.
Nous avons adorés et nous le recommandons à 100%! L'accueil, les chambres, l'emplacement, le petit déjeuner le matin, les rencontres, tout était incroyable!

Nous avons loué une chambre double, c'était joliment décoré et confortable. Un chouilla bruyant mais globalement les gens sont respectueux et c'est assez bien insonorisé. Belle terrasse en haut et personnel super friendly au petit dej, où ils servent des pancakes! Je recommande

J’ai séjourné une semaine à l’auberge du Plateau et j’ai passé un très bon séjour. L’auberge est une belle maison ancienne Montréalaise, chaleureuse, très propre et très bien placée.
Les petits déjeuners sont copieux et pris dans la grande salle à manger très agréable. Enfin tout le personnel est chaleureux et attentionné. Je recommande vivement cette auberge.

Nice concept, good location for Montreal. Friendly service. The room was basic but totally fine and clean. Included breakfast was good, except for everyone coming at one time - suggestion: expand breakfast times. 08: 00 is quite late.

Super clean, walking distance to old Montreal, Mont Royal and eclectic neighborhoods. Lovely breakfast served with a friendly atmosphere - just what you need to have when away from home! Travelling mom with 2 teenagers - safe location - friendly staff. All info available.

There were two people sleeping in one bed. They were so noisy at night and seemed drunk they were talking to each other until over 3: 30am while everybody else was sleeping. I know their names because they called each other so many times:) One person seemed to not have a key and the other person opened the door for her. I recommend this place if you have a friend staying there- then you can spend the night there for free:) and if you like noises at night The beds are uncomfortable, dated, and have no lift to carry luggage. Very barrier-filled place. Few and tiny bathrooms. Location also not good. Horrible in every way.

Une auberge chaleureuse avec un staff très bienveillant. Ambiance sympa au ptit dej. Propre, juste des cloisons fines donc on entend vite les clients voisins. Merci pour ce beau séjour.

Auberge de jeunesse vraiment charmante! Les espaces communs, salon et cuisine sont vraiment fantastiques: plafonds très haut, très lumineux, décor sympa, aménagement confortable! On a adoré! L' accueil est convivial, l'auberge bien placée, les chambres sont propres, les salles de bain partagée aussi. Seul petit point à améliorer: la literie (surtout pour les grands, moi et mon conjoint ne passions pas en longueur). Sinon, notre fille de 11 ans a vraiment beaucoup aimé l'auberge et s'est tout de suite sentie comme un poisson dans l'eau! Bref, superbe découverte à Montréal, ça vaut vraiment le coup:)

Great time staying there, bed could be more comfortable but it's fine while travelling, my overall stay was great. Definitely would recommend if come to Montreal

I have mixed feelings about this place. First the good, the location and price are great, some staff are lovely, and kitchen and breakfast are good. The bad is its hard to sleep, and owner creates a bit of a tense cold environment. The street noise is very very loud in rooms, and they dont allow you to change rooms with loud snorer. No curtains on beds, chargers, and very old bunk beds. The owner can be very petty about rules, but doesnt feel the need to meet guests needs, leading me to believe the level of customer service is below average. The vibe also was cold, at times, which I think was set by the owner.

Quel beau gîte et l'équipe qui s'en occupe est hors-pair. Déjeuner inclus, choix de diverses chambres, grande attention à toutes sortes de petits détails pour rendre votre séjour des plus agréables.

Best hostel! I was here just for one night and it's been a week now. Lovely team, well place, I feel at home. The place to be for few days in Montreal!
(even better with friends, but you can meet poeple in the comfy shared dining room, listening at the guitar placed in the corner if someone is in the mood)
