Auberge Montebello

We have stayed at this Auberge a few times in the past usually when making a last-minute decision to go to Montebello for a round of golf, or dinner and night out. It’s always been an OK hotel nothing to write home about but for a place to sleep it was OK. This time before making a trip for the season ending golf trip we reserved the room, unfortunately I became quite sick and we were unable to make it for golf or to the hotel. The owners told us not a problem they wouldn’t charge the card but when we checked our records, the card had been charged full price. We contacted the hotel, and were told that regardless of the circumstances (and what we were told yesterday…short memory?), if we didn’t cancel 48 hours in advance, we had to forfeit the room charge.
I understand hotel policy, but I also understand treating regular customers with a little bit more respect, but in turn you decide to pocket the $200 which is no big deal to us and you recognize that you have lost a regular customer and every person or couple that we have referred to your establishment.
Not exactly how I would be handling my business in an area that only has a few attractions and very short seasons with many other lodging options.

Straight out of a horror movie. If you want to stay at a haunted house from the 1950’s you’ve come to the right place. As soon as we got into our room, my child asked if it was haunted. It doesn’t help that the decor comes straight out of the Shining, complete with a gold sphinx. Fear not, it will not ask you riddles.

The bed spread had “bullet holes” and the white sheets were covered in mystery hair. Otherwise the place was relatively clean.

The included breakfast was hard boiled eggs an assortment of Wonder bread and off brand Jiff peanut butter and jam. A waffle station with not real maple syrup. This place was run by professional cost cutters. If frugal was a sport, the owners of this establishment would win first place.

The town is absolutely beautiful and charming, try to find another establishment to stay at or even try camping. Definitely not worth $220 plus taxes that we paid.

I did not sleep all night and waited until morning to get the F out of there. This place will live on in our memories as the creepy haunted house.

Quelques odeur de caca humain régulièrement dans les chambres, mais très agréable.

Auberge qui aurait besoin d’un peu d’amour. L’emplacement et le prix abordable fait de lui un bon choix. Les lits offerts en Queen ne le sont pas en réalité.

We stayed the weekend, as a "home base" while we attended 2 concerts in Montreal. Jessi and Bhupinder were gracious and accommodating hosts. The hotel is a bit dated, but very clean and had the amenities we needed along with maintaining a certain charm. The continental breakfast was simple but satisfying. We didn't make use of the pool, but it appeared very clean and well taken care of. We will definitely stay again when visiting Montebello!

The staff were very accommodating. The location was ideal right on the main strip. We were able to bring our dog and they even provided us with assistance for caring for our mutt. This is not a luxury hotel, but if you are looking for a spacious, well priced comfortable accommodation right near the water this is the place to go. The pool was lovely. We were there the same time as a wedding was going on. The staff offered us different accommodations incase the noise was too much. We didn’t hear a thing and woke up to a clean backyard/pool. The only downside was the bar/restaurant wasn’t open due to COViD restrictions; when it looked like a beautiful area to eat and enjoy the atmosphere. We will 100% be going back to this same spot time and time again.

WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE, PERIOD. Can you imagine a hotel tells you "DON'T BRING YOUR FAMILY BACK"?

Planned to bring kids to Parc Omega during Thanksgiving weekend and needed an overnight stay nearby, found this "3.5-star" place at a good price (comparing to the "4-star" Fairmont Montebello), so decided to give a try.

First impression: how can you call this place 3.5-star? Room's very shabby and outdated, there's even a huge old 1960s style storage box in our room and I don't know what it is for. Coffee and coffee machine at very low end. Very noisy when water flows from the faucet, sounds like the whole pipeline's shaking. - Cleanliness? It was okay before seeing at least five ladybugs at the ceiling.

Later when I went out the front desk (I think he's the owner) asked how many people are staying in my room. I said four including two young children (below 10), then he said they'd charge $15 extra for each kid, because they provide free breakfast and my booking was only for 2 adults. OK, never had this experience and never paid attention to the number of KIDS when booking hotels, but since he said so, I told him my kids wouldn't have breakfast there, and he agreed not to charge.

The next morning I went to breakfast: bread and bagel are the cheapest ones you can buy directly from Walmart, eggs are cold, milk's not, only fruit is banana, and that's about everything. Only (relative) highlight is the waffle, which took you to wait for 10 minutes. I left after a cup of coffee, my wife didn't even bother to go. Anyone would be paying $15 for this? Unfortunately my friend was so honest and paid for her kid.

If it's just that I'd say this place is mediocre at best, while not worth the price and star rating.

Then it came the dealbreaker: Two days later $30 showed on my credit card bill. I called to ask why. Still the same guy, he didn't honour our deal, instead he complained we messed up his towel, and "DON'T BRING YOUR FAMILY BACK". - I was all of a sudden speechless for a moment. Is this something anyone is supposed to hear in the hospitality industry? And isn't cleaning up the towels part of a hotel's job? Not to mention I tipped for housekeeping as generous as I am at Fairmont.

So if you can afford, go to Fairmont Montebello, if not, any motel or B&B at a much cheaper price is better than this "3.5-star" place, at least they'd welcome your family (back).

DON'T BRING YOUR FAMILY BACK, thanks for your great advice, I'd definitely follow and would tell anyone DON'T GO THIS PLACE, WITH OR WITHOUT YOUR FAMILY OR ANYONE ELSE!

Super auberge pour faire un stop avant ou après le parc Oméga (situé a 5mn en voiture) Certes la décoration est un peu défraîchie mais cela ne viens en rien cacher l'expérience. Le gérant (?) a été très sympathique. Petit déjeuner moyen mais les gaufres sont bonnes. Chambre très propre et literie impeccable.

The room is old, the attitude of the service staff is very bad, and the breakfast is very simple. It's not worth the price!

The room was dirty and full of bugs and spiders.
The man in charge called Jeffy is very rude, aggressive, impolite and far of being in the customer service business.
What a shame!

On first look, it was a charming hotel, but as our stay progressed it was apparent that it was not quite up to snuff. Because we arrived early our room was not quite ready which was OK, we decided to grab our bathing suits and go for a swim in the pool. To get to the pool was a challenge as it was 3 levels below the reception desk. No elevators in the building at all and just a steep sketchy path down either sides of hotel. The changing rooms/bathroom had no running water and were not very clean. The pool itself was nice, a good temperature and reasonably clean, some broken bits of pool toys in the water and on the deck and a underwater pool light was sitting on the deck, hopefully with no current going to it as the connection (marrettes, not waterproof) was not enclosed in any sort of electrical box.

When we went up to the room, we were initially pleased, it was spacious, looked clean and had an old world charm. However, in the bathroom there was blood on the underside of the toilet seat. The lamps and clock radio on one side of the bed were not plugged in, in fact there was no outlet! The Wi-Fi did not work in the room, although it did in the hall and other areas of the hotel. The TV was small and not properly configured for the cable box. The biggest issue was that there was no anti-slip material in the bathtub. I have mobility issues so this was very dangerous, but fortunately I was warned by my wife who doesn't and had showered first. I could have been seriously injured! We did complain to the front desk about the Wi-Fi and he just shrugged it off saying that it worked there before. We decided to cut our stay short and checked out the next morning forfeiting a nights stay.

Auberge bien situé, quelques minutes de marche des restaurants, voisin de la fromagerie, piscine extérieur chauffée, déjeuner continental inclus, préposé a l acceuil sympathique, vue sur la marina et la rivière des Outaouais possible.

Beau séjour reposant. Les proprios sont gentils et attentionnés.

Notre chambre (422) est propre, confortable et bien positionnée sur la rue principale et à côté du balcon.

Il faut cependant faire attention aux petits détails. La robinetterie était mal vissée et ma lampe de chevet n'avait pas de petit bouton pour allumer/éteindre la lumière.

Bel auberge tranquille et paisible. Les propriétaires sont très sympathiques. Nous avons apprécié le petit déjeuner continental qui est compris dans le prix.

Indian food! There is an Indian restaurant in the auberge. Don't miss it. It's the best Indian I ever had!

J'ai essayé d'avoir une réservation et l'homme avec un très fort accent m'a dit que je posais trop de questions et m'a dit de réserver ailleurs et m'a raccroché au nez!

Accueil chaleureux, nous nous sommes fait offrir une chambre au coût supérieur à celle que nous avons payé. Chambre propre même si elle n'est pas au goût du jour. Séjour agréable.

It was great. The rooms are very clean and the staff is very welcoming. I would come back for sure.

Good location old building a little bit smelly needs lots of renovation. But prices are not that bad

A very quaint french hotel with English speaking owner who is very sweet and kind. The rooms are clean, quiet and come with all the amenities one would expect from a hotel.
Very good service, beds are comfy and rooms are easily temperature controlled. Great parking.
People with disabilities are going to be happy with a ramp at the back entrance and accommodation on the main floor. Even with covid restrictions there is still a decent breakfast to be had and the owner personally attends to your needs. Very good experience at this sweet hotel.

Had a wonderful time here! The owner Jessie was extremely accommodating and very nice. We had the pleasure of renting the vip room and it was beautiful. Would definitely recommend!

Nous avons pris la grande chambre v.i. P dans le haut de l'auberge, très belle pièce.personnellement, j'aime les propriétaires, ça fait quelques années que je viens ici, la madame en question est très gentille, il suffit de donner une chance aux gens de parler ️ les autres chambres sont très bien aussi!

Setais bien des gens sympas, petit bémol literie a changer et nettoyage de la chambre coin rond mais quand même bien

Pas d'eau chaude, punaises de lit, les choses indiquées ne sont pas vraiment dispo comme le spa. Trop cher pour la qualité quils vantent. Seul le déjeuner est ok.

Un charme désuet vous accueille dans le hall. Personne ne se notera dans la piscine vu sa taille (surveillez toujours vos enfants). La literie est confortable et les chambres sont silencieuses. Demandez si possible une chambre avec vue sur la rivière outtawais. De nombreux pubs dans la rue et accessible à pied.

Bien situé, Personnel accueillant, Chambre propre et lit confortable. Rien d’exceptionnel, mais rien de déplaisant. C’était bien!

Belle petite auberge, service incroyable de plus très propre.
Nous allons retourner certainement.

Tapis partout, de l'entrée jusqu'à votre lavabo. Chambre avec des déchets sur le tapis (boite de jus, plastique, etc.). Odeur dans la chambre (probablement les tapis). Service courtois.

Chambre avec vue sur la piscine et porte patio avec petite terrasse, c'était parfait pour aller a la piscine avec les enfants. A 10 mins du parc Omega.

Sommes restés 1 nuit à l’auberge ce Montebello (ride de seadoo) bien placé avec un quai municipal juste à côté.

Chambres propres et bien tenues, parties communes également.
Petit déjeuner très correct.

Bon accueil avec « Jessy » sur place, qui a de l’humour ;-)

En bref très bon rapport qualité prix.

Nous sommes arrêtés pendant un orages prendre un Perrier et un café. J'ai allaité dans le lobby et nous avons changé bébé, bien qu'il n'y avait pas de table à langer dans la salle de bain près de la réception. L'accueil était chaleureux! Un resto indien ouvre dans deux semaines. à revisiter!

We stopped during a storm to drink a Perrier and a coffee. I breastfed in the lobby and we changed diapers, although there was no changing station in the bathroom next to the reception. Warm welcome. An Indian restaurant will open in two weeks.we'll be back!
