BAR - Big in Japan

Didn't go back to this hidden bar a long time ago. And I would say, this is one of the best bar in Montreal. All the cocktails that I had tried are on point and very delicious. The service is top notch! The waiter knows exactly all the cocktails on the menu. And he even suggested us to what cocktails should we have depending on our taste. Everything is very satisfied.
And the decorations is very chic and cozy which the bar is lighted up by the candles. This is a perfect place to date or hang out with friends.
And I forgot to mention that all the cocktails are taxes included on the menu.
You have to go to this bar at least once in your life. I highly recommend!

A must try Great drinks including numerous Manhattan options! Small food menue - the dumplings and olives were flavorful. Good vibe, music & service. Come early to avoid lineups

Don't be fooled by the street facing door to Big In Japan.it can be a bit intimidating but it is a worth while venture. The non-descript white graffiti labeled door, opens to a long hallway, ultimately ending in a James Bond like setting.

The ambiances is dark, subtle and slightly sexy.with rows upon rows of interlacing bar height counters and fixed swivel stools. This is a cocktail bar at its finest with very few snacking options (you're not coming here to eat but for a relatively peacefully conversations with friends). This is a cool after-dinner date night location as well. Enjoy!

One of the most beautiful bars I’ve ever been to! Speakeasy like feel with the super hard to find door but once we went in, the vibe was great and worth the trouble. Both cocktails I had were DELICIOUS and the service was very timely. The atmosphere was immaculate.

Les cocktails sont corrects mais la musique est trop forte et les serveurs vous fixe pour vous forcer a finir votre verre le plus vite possible, c'est le service le plus gratteux que j'ai eu de ma vie.

Très bon bar pour venir se poser en petit comité ou à 2. Ambiance tamisée avec musique plutôt douce et cool. Les boissons sont un petit peu fancy cher pour ce que c’est mais dans l’ensemble c’est pas mal.

The door for the place is not obvious and a but sketchy, but once u are inside, everything change. A very nice cozy decore. Good cocktails. Good service

Hostest was pretty rude to us last night. My gf had my medication and was inside the bar. Not only would she not let us in, she would not even listen to the explanation and interupted me with insisting we wait outside until she came out. Only problem was I had no means of contacting her. Not cool for an asthmatic.

Exceptionally beautiful bar with amazing ambience. Drinks were fine (old fashioned was too bitter). Oddly ask for a card tab at the beginning, which can feel a little awkward. Worth it for the decor though.

Extremely poor service. A lot of empty spots but the waitress would rather keep you waiting and chat with customers instead of installing the customers waiting in the long cold corridor.
But it doesn’t end there. Once seated in the darkest spot, if you decide to use your phone light to look at the menu, you will be asked to turn it off and use your screen light - given we’re all X-men with night vision, right?
Overall, the owner / manager might want to retrain their rude staff - we won’t be coming back.

A wannabe upscale speakeasy with bad service. Expect queuing for a while on weekends and to be greeted by a pretentious waitress. Cocktails are average, decor is nice.

Bar continu, au niveau, qui sent la génératrice mal ajustée. Service courtois, bons cocktails, bon en-cas.

Malheureusement, cette place a perdu de son lustre. Le personnel qui patiente >15 minutes pour nous adresser la parole pour ensuite nous ignorer durant un autre 15 minutes avant de nous assoir alors que plus de 10 places sont disponibles.

Lorsqu'on essaie de se faire visible en traversant le rideau, une employée nous demande de retourner derrière le rideau. Au moins 8 clients sont partis lorsque nous attendions. Si j'étais le propriétaire, je ne serais pas très heureux.

Dommage pour ce speak-easy.

Très bel endroit… où j’ai rencontré mon mari il y a bientôt 8 ans. Magnifique ambiance et délicieux coquetels.

My boyfriend and I came here on friday around 9: 30 there were about 8 people in front of us and we were finally sat at around 10: 20. The host checked our IDs which we found strange, neither of us look underage and even if we were we wouldn’t wait an hour to get a seat. Anyways, we get led to the complete back, behind a curtain.
The drinks were good but a bit on the sweeter side. Their selection wasn’t amazing and their bar was lacking. The service was not great for a speakeasy. It gave the vibe of an upscale bar rather than a speakeasy. As well as there was a one bartender!
Overall, there’s a nice vibe but nothing impressive and lacklustre service but good drinks at least and nice decor!

Worth -10 stars for the attitude of the waiters.
Don’t spend ur money or ur time waiting here, they don’t appreciate customers. C

Super cool place. Dark. Vibrant. Slightly secret. But the perfect place for an amazing whisky or cocktail. Must go back. You must go and you must get the traveller.

Wow great atmosphere. Can have them store unfinished bottle for next time you go. Really classy vibes

Incredible drinks and a super intimate space, Big in Japan is a great spot for cocktails. We loved the speakeasy style and also that it wasn’t particularly hard to find. Well priced, great service and chilled. Music was low enough to have a conversation but loud enough for atmosphere. We’ll be back on our next trip!

Great cocktails (all a bit too sweet for my taste, but can ask to tone it down on the sweetness). The service is great and the venue is absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend!

Bel endroit et les drinks sont bons, cependant en terme de confort c'était 0, on s'assoit sur des genres de tabourets accrochés au comptoir et c'était extrêmement inconfortable, pas accessible pour les personnes grosses, il y a peut-etre des alternatives sur place mais je n'en ai pas vu.
