We found that it was unlike any experience in Canada we have ever received.
Zachary provided us a evening of such care and dedication.
Our meals, desert and wine choices were well crafted and such good referrals.
The manager came around and served us as well.
We remarked how it reminded us of The Bear season 2. Vecause we could tell so much dedication was happening.

Best Bar on Earth!
I used to say. Saturday, Dec 30th, was some of the worst I've seen.

4 previous visits were FANTASTIC.
Sat at the bar, which usually leads to great conversations with Antoin (former bartender) and others.

Coming all the way from Ottawa and having the following,
Ran out of signature food, 30$ drinks slammed together, no communication with staff or even a quality check from no less than 4 on duty managers no more than 10 feet away.
Saw a waitress assault a bus boy. Dj volume was all over the map. $410.00 all in. I wish I could have back

Bar Georges in Montreal is a gem! It's like stepping back in time with its stunning, old-school décor. The vibe is just perfect, and oh, the cocktails are top-notch. Definitely, a place to check out for a unique, historical feel and some great drinks. Highly recommend it!

Music can be loud during live DJ performances, can be hard if we want to have a conversation

As reviews say, don’t come here as a one person reservation. Was quickly turned off by the hostesses attitude when I walked in the door, told that I may not order food past 10 pm and that bar seating can’t be guaranteed. I’m confused why priority for bar seating is not given to reservations but to the line up instead? So, I sat in the dining room. Server was excellent and attentive. Was again told that I may not order food by the server and the manager, however, as soon as I told the manager I had a reservation, I was allowed to order food before 10: 30 pm. I’m not sure why those with reservations are allowed to order food and those without cannot? As a former O&B server at The Guild, this was a confusing experience. The food was fine enough.

One of a kind spot in Montreal. Remember that the fancier the drink, the less you pay, so forget overpriced wine glasses - go for the cocktails if you want to score a good deal! Oh, and their ciders are fairly priced as well.

Nice place. Not five, cause coffee should be served together with dessert, not 15 minutes before.

The breakfast menu is very poor comparing to other adjacent 5 stars hotels. No Fruit in the menu, NO FRESH JUCIS too. Only ONE staff is serving the breakfast for the whole clients. Finally I was not impressed at all with the service and the menu.

I celebrated a special occasion in this restaurant and they went above and beyond to make us feel special. The food, cocktails and staff were all outstanding

If you like posh places. Good service. Chic. Not my cup of tea but I know some people like it. Good food good wine.

I came with my grandparents to Bar George for brunch not expecting all that much, despite the imposing facade, but was delighted upon seeing the beautiful interior. Not only are the decoration and architecture sublime, but the food is excellent as well, and the great service a wonderful compliment. I will definitely be returning for more.

One of my favourite places in Montreal. Such an amazing experience; friendly staff, tasteful food, beautiful decor, good ambiance! Our waitor Jonathan was very thoughtful, insightful and accomodating. We had different drinks that were all very good. The steak and the octopus was insane! The only thing I wouldve changed is the music during dinner, jazz wouldve been the cherry on top!

We came in for a Saturday Brunch. We were very pleased overall. Service was great, the setting was elegant and made you feel at ease. We ordered 3 plates for 2 and had excellent mimosas. Truly recommend this place. Only inconvenience was the restroom downstairs, it was a stretch far.

UPDATE:
Following my original review, the restaurant reached out and, following a few email exchanges with each other, it was clear that they took our negative experience seriously and they ended up acting on our concerns. This was most appreciated and certainly warranted an update to this review. Because of Bar George valuing our feedback we will definitely make a return in the future. Initially I had given a rating of 2/5 stars, but their immediate action of reaching out, listening to my experience/concerns and then act on them deserves to be recognized as most places wouldn't do this. Looking forward to sipping on my next Blooming Rose "Two Ways"!

I will preface this to say we were there on a very busy night (long weekend). The inside of the bar is gorgeous! We were able to be given a table in a small room off to the side where it felt like we were basically forgotten about. Once we had placed an order for 2 drinks, the menu was taken away from us, our drinks were delivered and we were never tended to again. We had to search out someone to bring us our bill and then search out again to find someone to pay. We ordered the Blooming Rose "two ways" and the Azzura. The first was amazing, the second should have been stirred before serving or served in a glass that made it easier to stir yourself - but because it wasn't, the drink was a bust. I'm in no rush to return.

The level of service that goes behind this restaurant is outstanding. The food was out of this world too. Definitely a top pick for Montreal and one of my favourite brunch spots in town.

This place is extremely instagrammable - super chic round bar and big, stately dining rooms.the Old Fashioned was delicious; The Cream of Mushroom soup was the star (super rich and flavorful) and Ive never seen Tuna Wellington on a menu and it was an inventive take on the classic.go here for fancy cocktails or a classy date night.

Loved the vibe. We went on a Thursday so there was a DJ who played a pretty decent set. Drinks were special and unique. I just wish they had less gin based mixed drink options and maybe more vodka, tequila ones. Prices are higher but I wouldn't expect to come here and pay low prices.

Simply amazing. Beautiful setting, top notch flavour, ambience unbeatable. I hope I’ll be making the 6 hour drive to return in the near future! Thanks to our server - Andrew I think? Everything was spectacular, added a new favourite wine to my repertoire.

Excellent endroit pour festoyer. Super choix d’alcool du Québec, le menu complet est disponible au bar, donc nous avons mangé le steak de chou-fleur que je vous recommande fortement, le bœuf Wellington et le choco fondant, l’un des meilleurs repas à Montréal. Un must! En plus, l’immeuble est super beau. Monument historique, l’architecture est imposante.

Got a call from a friend Sunday morning suggesting to go there for Sunday breakfast.
Place is a beautifully preserved and is one of Montreal's great heritage spots.
That, sadly where it all ends.
We were the first in at 8 am.
Waiter took the order that was served about 15 20 min later. Remember no one was there but us 2!
I ordered avocado toast, that was served on small slice of bread with some sweet spread on it, about a tablespoon worth of avocado 2 thin slices of tomatoes, a tiny handful of some green leafy salad, and 2 poached eggs on top.
Toast was stone cold, eggs were cold, the whole thing was way over sweet for an avocado toast.
The word yukky kids use described it best.
I would be glad to pay 16.00 for an avocado toast, but notwithstanding the fact that it was served cold, for 16.00 it's a ripoff.
My friends Americano breakfast had good bacon very ordinary potatoes, no fruit, and of course was served with stone cold hardly toasted bread and lukewarm the rest of it.poor value for the price.
I gave it 1 star as no stars not possible.
Fortunately Montreal is blessed with many great breakfast places. Some of which are expensive, but they do deliver the bang for your buck.

A beautiful wooden-panelled bar hidden inside the hotel, serving excellent cocktails. Great relaxed ambience and attentive staff. Such a great way to start an evening out in town.

Absolutely fantastic down to the last detail. The decor of this place is stunning and not something you see often as it's a historic boutique hotel. The dim lighting and candles on each table provide a lovely ambience. My husband and I both had the mushroom soup to start which was rich and velvety with so much flavor. As our main, we both had the beef wellington and it was incredible. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared and you can tell the chef really loves what they do. Service was also great! Will definitely be coming back.

This place is amazing, I cannot explain how hard it is to have good not even great service in the hospitality industry in North America, and this place is amazing. The management to the ambiance and food will not let you down. As for the menu, they have the best beef wellington I have even eaten, their curry sauce is to die for and the desserts are amazing. They also serve the absolute best espresso martinis in Montreal (original and fancy version). My friends and I come here often and I would 100% recommend for a great meal with pleasant/professional service!

Non professional stuff and worst experience, we was a group of 10 peoples sitting on same table, the guy brought the orders for 4 of us then said he can't serve the rest of us because the kitchen closed!
I spent the evening watching my friends eating dinner, the most ridiculous behavior I ever had.

Initially the service was sub-par. We waited 30 minutes to get our drink order, and when it came it wasn’t correct. When we raised our concern to the maître d’, they were quick to respond and address. Thankful to Thomas for stepping in and taking care of us near the end.

Always a great ambiance definitely recommend on the weekend brunch or even for a dinner during the week. Food is always tasty, chef Kevin is a delight to be served by and the staff is always pleasant and on point! Def recommend

A bar which tries to advertise themselves as "high end".

I must say that the building, decoration, and environment have "high end" touch but the collection of alcohol (specifically whiskey collection) and the attitude of the bartender could not impress me even as close as "mid end" bars I have seen around the world (or even, for example, comparable to Atwater Cocktail Club in Montreal itself). I am aware maybe my standards - which is mostly from Europe - doesn't match the standards of Montreal which is generally not impressive at all.

I would say a mediocre experience if you want a drink in downtown.

The ambience was beautifu if a little dark (lighting), food was good but somewhat pricey (I had the quail and the mushroom soup which was delicious), and the service was what you would expect in a higher-end establishment.

I'm on bar George And my waiter was Karim. There's a really great ambience, customer services is there, the music is flowing. I just had a glass of water with a slice of ginger inside. I ordered a French Martini because my first french martini was here at bar George, and I came back here for the initial taste. I ordered as a main dish, the beef wellington, while the waitress was setting the plate for me to eat, I realized that she put mine first. But I think that's really good. As they say, ladies first. Entree: devils on horseback.

Portions of food were extremely small, when you state rack of lamb I expect a full rack, there should have been a starch like potatoes to accompany it. Best part of the night is the drinks, they have an exceptional cocktail menu. Bar George is perfect for pre or post dinner drinks but the menu needs work

I’ve visited Bar George twice - once for breakfast, and another time for dinner. I can only say great things about this place. The food and drinks are fantastic… I absolutely loved the unique culinary experience and the love and creativity that went into each of their signature cocktails. Certainly looking forward to a future visit. Oh and… I highly recommend the tuna wellington! Enjoy!

This place is the definition of all style, no substance. Sure, the decor is pretty but the food just isn't good.

I went for brunch and ordered the "eggs benedict". It only came with one egg! The dish is plural for a reason - it's called eggs benedict not egg benedict. They added turmeric to the hollandaise, I imagine for color? Certainly not taste. And the crumpet was stale to the point where it was inedible.

The oysters were a hack job, whoever prepared them has never shucked before. Our plate looked like a crime scene.

My cocktail was good, albeit weak. If I'm paying $16 for an espresso martini I want to taste more than the coffee, you feel me?

There are so many incredible restaurants in this city, and this isn't one of them. On top of the bad food it's overpriced and the service is unfriendly and slow. You'll get a better brunch at Maison Publique or Arthur's for far less. Bar George is definitely a spot that appeals to rich tourists with no taste, not discerning locals.

Fantastic service! Burger was amazing and the cauliflower cheese sauce was delicious! Drinks are a little pricey but their Negroni was perfect. Heirloom tomato with foie gras shavings was very good - a little overpriced though, considering it was shavings and not an actual piece of foie - would opt for a different appetizer instead. The waiter was very friendly and catered to my allergy based food restrictions which I appreciated very much. The staff was very attentive and had our water glasses filled the entire night - this is often a lost detail for many restaurants, but not here. Beautiful decor and a great place to celebrate a special occasion. Looking forward to returning for brunch!

By far the best bar in Montreal. Excellent service, immaculate attention to detail, surrounded by incredible interior that feels like you’re in a castle of sorts.or mansion, and the food does not disappoint. But if you’re in make sure to try their cocktails especially their PISCO cocktails with Pisco from Peru.
