Best Western Plus Montreal Downtown-Hotel Europa

Hotel very well located in Montreal and close to several points of interest! Excellent service with a restaurant next door (access via the hotel) that offers delicious dishes!

Location was amazing, right in downtown. (A bit of walk to old Montreal though).
Staff were nice as well - super helpful.
However, the room we stayed in had an ants problem. We started noticing a couple of ants in the bathroom as soon as we entered in. Then, more and more of them were coming out.they were even on the night tables!
Also, in the morning, drain made weird gargling sound- woke us up every morning. Once it makes sounds- the whole rooms smelt like a sewage. Unfortunately, the room we stayed did not have a window to circulate the air. Finally, the new towels that were provided to us had a long dark hair which does not belongs to any of us.

Hotel staff have no clue about hospitality. While most places put effort into a good experience, these guys put effort into confronting guests. Why management does not train them? Hey, owners read the reviews.

The only thing that can be appreciated about the hotel is the location in Downtown, with nearby metro stations (approximately 4 blocks) and close to ST Catherine Street, which is a commercial street.
The rooms are very basic, more like 2 stars, and it all depends on the rate you are paying. In my case it was CAD 225 before Tax, and I really would have preferred to pay something more and be better off. It is a hotel of about 150 cad maximum.
The room service was very poor, they did not clean the room or it was poorly arranged, they did not bring towels or paper for the bathroom. But the worst thing is the attitude of the people at the reception, I think that the complaints must be so normal that they no longer even flinch, and show zero concern for the attention to the guest, in conclusion it is a hotel where you can spend a maximum of one night and that's it It is not possible to get a better one at an affordable price

Honestly I have had better stays at other places. The bathroom was so small that I had to go into the shower just to close the door. Don't even get me started on having to sit on the throne. That was nigh impossible. Staff were argumentative to the point of we asked a few simple questions at the beginning of our stay and omg you would think we killed their pet or something. Wife asked for a receipt when we checked out and we were told don't worry about it. You will just get an email with the charges after you leave.

I just had a worst experience.
It's my first time being in Montreal, and I walked in the wrong BW hotel (there are 3 BW hotels with similar names in the neighborhood). I wish the front desk person could have told me this is the wrong hotel I had reservation in, but instead, she checked me in, which at that time I wasn't aware of I'm in a different hotel from my reservation.
Then later that night when I realized she checked me in by mistake, and I cannot cancel my original reservation, she BLAMED me reason being MY NAME IS TOO SIMILAR TO ANOTHER PERSON'S! I cannot believe she just said that in from of my face! She had my ID and credit card to check in the system, she just gave me the room key and thought I was with another name!
That receptionist name is Malloy Jones, and I do not want to check in that hotel again in my life.

The location is very central if you are looking to shop or go out at night. The room was in need of renovation but it was ok. They had Wi-Fi. The ac was making so much noise we had to turn it off at night. The place is a bit rundown but the staff was nice and polite and always willing to help. We had a problem with the door and the technician came and solved the issue in no time and we’re very nice.
The restaurant is a well known franchise here in Ontario (I don’t know if it’s the same all over Canada) Cora and the food was very good full of goodies.

The sofa bed was unusable. We were practically sinking into it. We asked for an extra bed to put on the floor, but got denied. It's in a good location though, so it's got that going for it.

Hotel bien placé, mais les chambres mériteraient une rénovation, climatisation bruyante, douche délabré.

Tout est excellent à ce Best Western Hotel. Nous nous sommes sentis tout de suite à l’aise. La propreté des chambres ainsi que la courtoisie du personnel sont des facteurs qui nous incitera à y séjourner à notre prochaine escapade à Montréal. Merci à tous.

No-fuss stay right in the middle of town. We got probably the smallest room at the hotel and everything worked just fine. Rooms were cleaned well everyday. Good option for those looking for a safe and decent place to crash and explore the city. Didn't try the breakfast or gym.

Small rooms. Good location to reach Montreal attractions. To get there from the train station. In general good service. Good gym.good internet

Smaller rooms - NO Parking on site and no continental breakfast. I would recommend other hotels that offer parking in the area.
The location is nice but not worth it for the price.

Séjour correct, belle chambre, propre, mais les responsables à l'accueil ne sont pas efficace.

UPDATE Below;
Was there celebrating 30th wedding anniversary. The hotel is centrally located between rene-levesque Boulevard and St Catherine Street. It is located within ten blocks of everything! All the food options and shopping you could want! There is a wonderful hairdresser on the ground floor of this hotel, and the wife personally had her hair done there, and she stated it was the best she had ever had done! The price was great and the hairdresser was amazing! Highly recommend the hairdressing salon.
On our second last night there we encountered a critter on the the TV screen. Having travel to the Caribbean seven times we saw these before. Can't say I've ever seen them in Canada and we were quite surprised. I will say there was no indication anywhere in the hotel that would lead you to believe you ever would see these? But nevertheless, it was there. I notified front desk staff as soon as I saw it and took a picture. It had ran into a paper bag laying beside the wall. I trapped it in the bag and brought it down to show the front desk staff. I was very discreet and asked to go away from the front desk as others were checking in. I would have to say he was a bit shocked and not sure how to react. I reassured him I was not there for a discount or comping the room, simply letting them know that it existed in the rooms they were renting. He offered drinks and food to be complementary and sent to our room but we were at the end of our day and that would have just gone to waste. He said I will absolutely apply a discount to your booking and upon check out you will notice a lower balance. I said if you feel that is appropriate sir I will leave that to you? Upon checking out the following morning. There was no discounting of the room rate, and or any coupons to come back or a food voucher for Cora's restaurant. My wife and I were left with the impression this may happen more often than we think? The F1 was in town starting that day and our room was renting for $2,450 for the next three days.

As to the Properties Response; I am repeating what the young gentlemen stated and offered at the time. He is your employee, I would ask him what he was referring to? The CORA's Restaurant not 10m from your front desk, inside your Hotel could be what he was referencing when he made the offer? I should note, we did not take anything from the young man, and thought this will get passed on to day Manager and we would be contacted and or spoken with upon check-out the next morning. Neither happened, and so we posted this review. Feel free to contact us, should you wish to confirm we speak the truth. Also if you check the other 5000 plus comments, reviews, pics and responses to them, this is one of the very few containing less than wonderful review info, which we strongly avoid. Situated in the shopping district of Montreal, so it's very convenient. Queen bedroom a little small, I would recommend paying a few dollar more and getting a king bedroom. Staff or very polite and corteous.

Please don’t even consider staying here if you are short or have mobility issues. The elevator from the sidewalk is “out of order”, there are no grab bars in the very slippery, high bathtub or anywhere else and the bath towels are so high up on a rack that it is nearly impossible for a short person to reach them. I see from another review that bathmats are available “upon request! ” How absurd! Why aren’t they in bathroom! The room was adequate, nothing special. No microwave available. A few coffee pods for the Kuerig machine. The staff was mostly helpful. All in all, I would find another place to stay in Montreal that cares about mobility challenged people.

I was very impressed with the service I received. The staff members are very friendly and helpful. My room was very clean and was very well-priced. They even upgraded our room when I checked in without me even asking. Couldn't ask for a better hotel for the price and great location.

Very clean hotel with everything you would expect. Quite nice gym downstairs with a functional treadmill and machines. Lacks a pool.

I don’t like! Because some Asian manager is crazy and have a mood like girl. I don’t know for a what he is work with clients. More positive. People paid. Need to talk respectfully. This is work and everyone client have mode, freedom too! This is not normal situation. He is just deleted my order for 2 nights and spoke with me like with friend. But I’m with small kid. 6 years old. I hope he will to have same situation if! Will to have kids in future! I’m not will back never and told about this is hotel every one my followers and friends!
And rooms really need prepare for clients. Everything is old, something need to change

Le service est très bon, l'hôtel est très bien situé. Parcontre la chambre que j'ai eu n'étais pas à la hauteur du prix demandé.
