Bistro Japonais Furusato

This quaint little Bistro offers very tasty food at a reasonable price in a casual atmosphere that is perfect for a gathering with friends or a casual first date. We got to try a variety of dishes, from the sashimi to the tempura udon and this is by far the closest to true Japanese food I've had in Montreal. Everything was deliciously prepared, with great care. Don't hesitate to go, and try to make a reservation because it gets full FAST.

Nous n’avions pas de réservation (un soir d’hiver de grand froid) et étant complet, nous n’avons pas eu la chance de manger ce soir. Alors que nous étions entrain de chercher une autre alternative sur le pas de la porte, on nous a très gentiment proposé de rentrer et de faire nos recherches au chaud. Une pensée fort appréciable. C’est sûr que l’on reviendra avec une réservation!

I've known the owner since the opening of the previous Furusato - what a joy to have his restaurant open again! As usual, the food is delicious, authentic, simple; the service was great, and the price range is very reasonable. A must go in Montreal.

Have been a customer at Furusato since 2014 on Bleury street. I miss the old run-down building and old menu with more options. My wife and I waited since 2020 during COVID pandemic for their reopening. We were thrilled to know that they were going to reopen. Since the new location, the food (quality) is not as good as before and there is significantly less options on the sushi menu… Drove 45 mins to eat sushi and my wife and I were very disappointed.

I used to brag about Furusato being the best sushi in Montreal (been eating sushi for 20 years and been to Tokyo Tsukiji market). Now it’s just average.

Will probably try again in one year….

J'ai retrouvé le goût et la texture de ce que j'ai mangé au Japon. Un vrai plaisir pour les papilles.
Sans compter le personnel très gentil!

Meilleur restaurant Japonais de Montréal.
Tenu par une famille japonaise, les recettes sont respectées de manière traditionnelles.
Les Sushis ont un gout incomparables avec les autres restaurants.
Enfin un restaurant qui sert un Katsudon! Qui est succulent!
Pour vous faire plaisir, demandez à boire de l'Umeshu, c'est un merveilleux vin blanc de prune Japonais. (demandez s'il leur reste de la marque "Takara" qui est bien meilleur).

This is the real deal. Real Japanese sushi made by Japanese people. They are attentive to details and they never mess up my order. On top of that, I accidentally left my headphones the last time I came here. When I came back the following month, they recognized me and immediately gave it back to me. Not only is the food excellent, but they actually care and remember their customers.

Authentic traditional delicious. Try the sukiyaki, soba noodles, and of course the sushi and sashimi

Immeasurable. Food quality being pristine is one thing but the staff and service is impeccable. Ive been hesitant about reviewing as it might become too popular! Definitely one of Montreal's top hole in the walls.

Sushi was delicious and great quality! This little restaurant gets pretty busy - I was by myself and just managed to squeeze in at the bar - so worth booking. Quite a few Japanese people eating here which is also a good sign.

Cant help saying, this one of of the best near Authentic Japanese Sushi & Food you can get in Montreal. Forget about Old port expensive places, can straight here to enjoy Delicious Japanese Food.

This is my favourite restaurant in Montreal! It's like travelling to authentic Japan. The chef is the best ever. Everything is so fresh and tasty. Everyone is so nice. It's like feeling home.

Can't go wrong at this place. Always great and there fries are in my top 3. Waitress are on the ball and always pleasant. Place would need a little bit of an up-date on decor.

Very good Japanase food. Fish flown from Vancouver, Hawaii or Japan. Sushis and tempura executed as they should. No frills service and decor. I definitely will be back.

We ate the best sushi esterday in this restaurant. Looks not as a restaurant from the outside but inside is good and clean. And the sushi is so good.

J'ai enfin eu l'occasion d'aller chez Furusato. Petit restaurant Japonais spécialisé en sushi qui fait de la cuisine maison. Rien d'extravagant mais un peu cher à cause du poisson et fruits de mer. Nourrituee bonne et qui rapelle un peu ces petits restaurants au japon.

Un superbe petit bistro japonais bien caché. Service superbe et mets extraordinaire. Simple mais parfait.

Outstanding food and service. I have never been disappointed. The simple and modest interior conveys a traditional authentic spirit of Japan.

Very good place. The food was delicious and the service was great for our group of 8 people. Maybe not the best if you're vegetarian though.

This restaurant is certainly overvalued. The dishes were less than expected. Especially rolls were below standard. I can say its undon was normal.
What made me dissapointed was its terrible service. They did not serve the dishes together, so I had to wait my roll even after all other people in my table finished their own. Moreover, the server did not care this, and she did not appolize anything to us. That time, only 4 tables out of 8 or more were served. That means you have to be patient about any delay normally even for very normal (or below) foods.

Nourriture correcte, c'est un peu cher pour ce qu'on nous sert. Service à peu près inexistant.
