Bistrot Pape Georges (Le)

Went here with our one year old and were wonderfully taken care of. The chef and the server both were super nice and interacted with our daughter, food was great, and the service was impeccable. Would recommend to anyone who wants a great place with even better ambiance. Told them I’d give them an 10 out of 5 if I could.

Fantastic little bar with great staff, superb food and great traditional vibe! I had the cheese and meats board and it was heavenly!
Highly recommend.

Arrivé un 26 décembre sans réservation et nous avons eu la chance d’avoir une place alors qu’ils étaient débordés et je recommande très gentils efficace et de très bonnes assiettes avec de bon produits

Endroit sympathique où on peut déguster des nachos avec une salsa tiède, la soupe était bonne et chaude, vaut le détour quand même

If you don't like or have no interest in trying hearty pub fare in a nearly 400 year old building, don't come here. If you expect to be pampered by hip servers and trendy dishes, this isn't the place for you.

BUT.

If you love buildings with great history and staff with stories to tell, then put Pape Georges at the top of your list! The pub is dark, the ceilings are low, and the food is fantastic! I loved how Chef Diony (?) (when I asked, he said to pronounce it sort of like "Denny" lol!) cooks everything in a tiny little kitchen right at the bar. He had, like, 10 pots going at once, all stacked on top of each other - I feel like this is the kind of place Anthony Bourdain would spend an entire day savouring!

I ordered nachos (recommended addition: firebarn sauce!). Warning to US visitors - these nachos aren't like our nachos but they're so good! Instead of ground meat and salsa, theirs is loaded with chili (lots of beans), chopped veggies, and a white sauce of some kind.like I said, different but delicious! And if you like a little flavourful heat, add that firebarn sauce!

I'm back in Chicago today but, when I return to Quebec City, Pape Georges is at the top of my list!

Endroit génial et hors du commun. Chef sympathique et drôle (malgré a etre seul en cuisine avec plein de client). Serveur encore là sympathique et bien veillant. Nous avons pris la fondu aux fromages et wow! Du goût et une texture parfaite! Merci pour tout

Absolutely wonderful pub and place for a cozy snack. The bar owner and staff are so friendly and people are so welcoming. Fondue is great and poutine looked friken amazing.

Le restaurant est très chouette avec une vibe un peu « repère de pirate » je trouve. J’ai pris une bière et une planche à partager. Super bon, prix très correct pour un endroit touristique et service rapide. Je recommande vivement!

The ambience is nice and cozy. The service and food was ok. Maybe service would be better if we spoke French fluently. The server only tried to make small talk and showed interest when we were paying the bill.

Malheureusement très déçu malgré les bons avis au préalable.
De nombreuses personnes sont rentrées après nous et la carte leur ont été apportés avant nous, ma femme étant enceinte, nous avons commandé un steak (bavette) sur la carte bien cuit et pour moi bleu sans salade, son steak était bleu tout comme le miens elle n’a donc pu quasiment pas en manger, j’ai eut de la salade que j’avais demandé d’être retiré, ne précisez pas bavette quand cela n’en est pas une (bonjour je suis cuisinier) les serveurs ne nous ont pas calculé de la soirée pour au final venir chialer quand nous sortions du restaurant une fois qu’ils ont remarqué que nous n’avions pas donné de pourboires, le culot a un nom, celui de ce serveur, si vous voulez allez boire un coup allez y, n’oubliez pas les pourboires pour éviter une scène de ménage si vous, comparez à nous aviez été bien servis, cordialement.

Beaucoup de bonnes boissons à prix raisonnables. Excellente sélection de bières locales en fût.

We were lucky enough to find a table on the patio during a stroll through old Quebec on our vacation earlier this month.delicious food, great atmosphere, fantastic service. Highly recommend!

Great service. Good food. Had a charcuterie board and nachos so menu may be a bit eclectic. Beer was cold. What more could you want.

The steak and fries were delicious! We sat at the bar and spoke with the friendly chef while he prepared our food right in front of us.

Beau petit restaurant avec une bouffe vraiment excellente. La poutine était vraiment excellente, la sauce goûteuse… La bavette de bœufs étant absolument exquise. Les portions étaient très bien aussi. Les deux membres du personnel étaient très sympathique. Je recommande fortement. J’y reviendrai assurément.

Service sympathique avec belle petite terrasse au cœur du Petit-Champlain. Le quartier vibre de toute son histoire depuis les débuts de la colonie française. L’architecture du bistrot est superbe.

Petit pub sympathique pour prendre un verre entre amis ou en famille.
