This place is waaaay overrated.
It’s a solid 3 star quality. We got a variety of pastries. Eclair is not made with the right cream, croissant is terrible. There was another one with cream cheese which has a weird taste.
It’s at best 3 star. They must have many friends to get the hight rating.

If I could give zero, I would.

My brother went inside and got a croissant here and the lady threw the croissant in his face and said “is that all you’re gonna get? ” He felt like he wasn’t welcome there. Who knows why she treated him that way but that was uncalled for.

17$ for a babka that was just fine but not close to being worth 17$! My friend opted to not get a cookie at their crazy pricing. There are so many lovely bakeries in Montreal and I have no desire to come back at these prices.falafel st Jacques is 10.99 for one 3x the size

Check for all the items prior to leaving as things sometime missed due to the busy nature of bakery. Other than that outstanding items

I love cheskies treats but 60%+ of customers aren’t wearing a mask so just FYI. There’s a sign on the door basically saying to get lost if that’s a problem

Bobka was dried a bit, and too sweet.
I love their small cheesecakes with chocolate on top

I saw some YouTube videos talking about how it’s the best Jewish bakery around.
I got what they recommended.

I tried their babka, too sweet.
Tried the black and white cookie, too sweet.
Bought a Swiss roll from there, no flavour and too sweet.

Overloading something with sugar doesn’t necessarily make it tasty.

I liked the feel of the place, service was good, and enjoy being around the Jewish community. I’m disappointed the pastries weren’t better.

Then again, I haven’t tried their other pastries nor their bread. I can’t judge too harshly.

For this reason I’m giving it a 3/5

Delicious food, but no masks worn by employees nor customers during the pandemic. Sign on window says we should comply to their no-mask standards. Comply to the rest of the world! We're tired of the pandemic too, but it won't be over unless everyone does their part. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves.

Shame on these people. This sign is horrible. Disgusting. They are overtly going against public health requirements. Shame on you Cheskie.

Les patisseries sont délicieuses mais le service à la clientèle est pourrit. Aucun bonjour, aucun sourire et pas de merci.

I ordered a customized chocolate cake for my birthday in Nov 2021. WORST CHOCOLATE CAKE EVERRRR! Ruined my birthday. I don't know what ingredients they use for the cake but it's worse than a third world country and I was born in one and I have had some really bad cakes but this one tops them all.
The next day I got high and was really hungry and had nothing in the refrigerator to eat, still didn't eat the cake and rather ate Apple dipped in Nutella, imagine that. Threw the cake in the garbage even though it was for my birthday, it was so bad.
I don't know who gave them such high reviews!

Chocolate babka like nothing else. Have bee going for fifteen years, and here's to hoping another 30 more. Today I saw someone order a tuna sandwich, I didn't know they did sandwiches. He said they're awesome. So I tried one the girl at the register recommended one on the fresh onion bun that just came out. It was perfect. We also got to try a white Russian babka today. It was cheese based, quite good. Happy as always.

THE chocolate babka. It’s incredible. It’s almost all chocolate. It’s intense. It’s beautiful. It’s a must whenever I crave chocolate babka. The owner is so nice, too.

Very friendly staff with excellent recommendations. Was in mood for cheesecake but I ended enjoying everything she suggested very yummy, I will be back on my next trip to Montréal.

I was debating going in but some lovely ladies, one of whom works there, gave me recommendations and this is hands down my favourite bakery in this area now. Walking in, the aroma is mouthwatering. Their fresh chocolate babkas and cheese crowns are divine. The cost of the baked goods are unbeatable. For 3 items, I believe I spent about $3.50. I would highly recommend this place.

Ok, fresh products, fair price.

Beware: see other reviewers mentioning bakery being closed random days & hours. Bakery was closed for half day when I went there first time. It wasn't worth 30 mins trip for coming back empty hand. 2nd time, I was in neighborhood, thought of giving it another try.

The place is some cozy. Moreover, you can enjoy your dishes in the park nearby. What a wonderful experience for me!

A Jewish Montreal institution, Cheskie's is worth experiencing. There was a lineup outside when I came on a Thursday morning, but it moved quickly.

Oh are the babkas are mouthwatering! I've been wanting to try them for a while and they did not disappoint. Deep, rich chocolate in every pillowy bite! I also got a cheese crown, which was also soft and not too sweet, perfect for an afternoon/teatime snack. Have yet to dig into two other things I bought but didn't know the name of, but I'm sure I'll be back!

Stumbled upon this bakery by accident - have now made special trips from the West Island out here to get their baked goods. Always fresh and tasty! So many varieties too!

One word. Yummm.
The line-up is worth it. The staff is super friendly and patient. Will go there again for sure.

Loved the chocolate babka. I wanted to test their mini cheesecakes, but all items were not available on a Monday afternoon.
20 May 2021 18:14
The dang cheese danish things are dang delicious. The cinnamon things are good too, though they have an unpleasant aftertaste. It's all very unhealthy and chock full of trans fat, on top of the usual unhealthy stuff though, due to good ole kosher.

Non respect des règles sanitaires, attention à vous si vous y allez. Il n'y a pas respect au service alors imaginez en cuisine.

Found this lovely little bakery while walking around Mile End. There was a line but the staff was very friendly and efficient, they also answered all my questions and helped me decide between the choices. The place smells like fresh bread and sunshine, with cute display of cookies, pastries, cupcakes and breads. I bought chocolate hazelnut bars (to die for.crunchy, chocolate-y like a cross between Kit Kat and Ferrero Rocher), potato knishes (a little mild for me but lots of stuffing and good size) and the newyork style black white cookies (authentic taste, giant size). Definitely visit if you’re in the area it’s a hidden gem

Exceeded my expectations!
Best chocolate babka I've ever had! I've also tried their delicious croissants, little chocolate babkas and mini cheesecakes.
They're definitely very generous with ingredients.
The woman in charge at the shop was very nice and friendly.
Definitely won't be my last visit!

Their Babka? Muah a chef’s kiss.
The cheesecake crowns? Muy delicioso

Oh the raspberry jam croissants with chunks of walnut?
30 April 2020 13:16
I heard about the cheesecake, but forgot about it there are chocolate filled cake which is wonderful and delicious.
16 April 2020 2:22
Cheap jewish pastry. It's open late. The pastries are made with shortening not butter. The staff are rude and don't speak French but you can't really blame them.

A small kosher bakery in the heart of Outremont. Makes amazing pastries and danishes. Always check the back shelf to see if they just took out any chocolate or cinnamon danishes. The cheese ones are also really good. The place itself is quite small and usually busy but it’s open until 11 pm most nights which makes it very accessible.

I live too gosh darn close to this place, it is hard to resist dropping in on the daily. Always a bit busy, excellent pastries and desserts, the classic is the chocolate babka, but if you like a cinnamon roll I would actually recommend a cinnamon babka instead. My all time favorite is a cheese crown, they come in 2 sizes and if you enjoy cheesecake at all I’d give them a try! Also they look like mini crowns which is adorable. A must go if you are nearby.
20 March 2020 21:45
We all the bakeries in Montreal, this is not my favorite. Maybe it was because I was there around 17: 00. The bread was on the dry side. Most of the bread felt greasy.
I was disappointed

Super Bon Bon, Super Bon Bon! The taste experiences in this boulangerie were ridiculous. We visited three times in as many days! Great staff.
12 February 2020 15:10

I've only been in Montreal for a few months, but Boulangerie Cheskie is already one of my favorite things about the city. The breads and baked goods are exceptional, and the prices (which are by weight rather than per item) are very good. The chocolate babka is probably their best known treat (and it IS fantastic), but it's hard to go wrong with anything they have on offer.
21 January 2020 7:07
Delicious pastries. Excellent challah. Tasty Hannukah donuts. Products are always fresh. Owner is welcoming. I am lucky to live within walking distance to Montreal's best kosher bakery!
20 January 2020 12:16
There are many kinds things. It would be better to have explanation articles.prices normal. Customers are waiting in line.crowded.staff kindly.tastes are. I don't understand:)

Most amazing and delicious Bakary with great goods for your taste buds. Cheskeys Bakary is a very popular kosher Bakary, visited by many poeple who do not even observe kosher food. Lines of poeple always wait here patiently to walk out with a bag of their brand name Delicatessen. Prices are good, staff poeple are nice, and if it's true they will soon move to a newer location where they will expend.
12 January 2020 11:45
My favorite bakery! I always buy the poppy seed croissant, the chocolate croissant and the chocolate bread.
07 January 2020 8:20
The pastries are great and very fresh. The chocolate babka is definitely worth doing a big detour to get. Unfortunately they're close on Saturdays for religious reasons so it's totally understandable but the service could be warmer and more welcoming. However, the pastries are the main reason to go!
28 October 2019 22:40
Regardless of whether you eat kosher, Cheskies is perhaps the best bakery in the city. Get the Russian babka and the cheese crowns. They're beyond delicious.
