Well, let's see. Where to start.

They were understaffed and weren't being managed very effectively. The two servers were jumping between room services orders and guest orders, which left the other customers (us) overlooked and neglected.

The host was doubling as a continental breakfast provider, which resulted in customers having to wait longer and not get served quicker if they even had the patience to wait. Several didn't and left.

Refilling of beverages was not in a timely fashion. Our coffees were brought to us and that's it. I truly don't understand how a server can walk around with a coffee pot and not come to the other tables and refill.

The manager was completely useless. Walking through the restaurant, looking around, talking to the staff, schoffing, and walking away. Very unprofessional.

The coffee came from a Bunomatic, which means it's not very good, but at least it's fast, right? Wrong? Took over 30 minutes for a refill.

Now, the only saving grace was that the assistant manager knew that there was a problem and came and told us in person. There was a problem in the kitchen and most of the staff didn't show up. So we got our food for free.

But this is a prime example of a perfect storm of bad luck, lack of leadership, people unclear of their tasks, wasting trips, forgetting orders, and letting all the dirty dishes pile up.

It's a shame too. I hope they're able to straighten everything out and avoid future screw-ups like this. It was a beautiful spot. Unfortunately, on this bad day, the right people were not leading, and everyone else was walking around like chickens with their heads cut off.

Nous sommes allés au brunch des fêtes le jour de Noël et avons passé un très bon moment. Le buffet était très bien présenté et avec de très bon produits. Les plats étaient goûteux et servis très vite. Service peut être un peu trop rapide pour un jour de fête où l’on aurait apprécié prendre un petit peu plus notre temps.

We ordered beef tartare (large with salads), foie gras torchon, lobster with sabayon sauce, navarin of lamb, duck confit along with desserts

Spent about $50 per person
The atmosphere and service was nice.
Servers tried to put an effort to serve.
I guess the portion is alright due to the amount of vegetables they put.

Takes time to get the bread that should be served at the beginning of the meal. We got it when the plates were served. Had to wait another time to get the butter.

I’m surprised when they didn’t serve caviar on the top of lobster when it’s specifically written on the menu “lobster with sabayon sauce is topped with caviar. ” When I asked the server, the server answered as if I should’ve asked to put it on the side or top it. (Like seriously? Come on I saw on the other reviews)
I don’t think no one would be willing to pay $46 for 2 pieces of lobster kinda overcooked with sliced zucchinis.

Duck confit was salty.
I can taste a bit of gamey from lamb shank.

Disappointing - one star for the service

Omelette, roasted potatoes very dry, they forgot to give us the fruits that goes with it, no butter for bread, pepper and salt not available for each table,

Service was amazing and the atmosphere was everything I had expected. Food on the other hand was just OK. Nothing amazing for the price I paid. I needed additional seasoning on my fish.

What a lovely location. Located right on the corner of Place D’Armes, this is a cool, stylish place to go for dinner, date, or after work drinks. Food and service was great. The stylings of the restaurant was lovely.

Busy. Great find. I was just walking by after mass and so glad I went in. Excellent brunch restaurant. Very popular, which means only one thing, very good. Great service. I got the tail end of their rush, so my experience was an excellent one.

I was underwhelmed by the food. Although it looked pretty, it lacked in terms of taste.

We got the steak, salmon, lava cake and Paris breast.

The steak was ok, the sweet potato fries were the best and the salad was barely existing. The salmon dish had not once grain of salt on the entire dish. Not on the fish, not of the veggies and not in the sauce.

For the dessert, I wouldn't call that a Paris Brest. It should be a hazelnut (except for the two halves on the plate) filling not a chocolate one. The choux was hard almost like the crust of a baguette. The lava cake was melting in the inside and rich and chocolaty.

Overall, beautiful restaurant in a beautiful location but the food is not worth it.

Very pretty but seriously way too expensive my bagel was cold and hard and the service was extremely slow. I don't recommend going not worth the money.

Belle endroit, belle déco, bon service!
Seule chose est que les plats sont un peu chers pour ce qu'ils sont, et pas extrêmement goûteux! Le burger de mon chum, pour 22$, était fade et franchement sans rien d'extraordinaire! Mon tartare au saumon était par contre excellent! Sinon le reste était très bien et le staff très accueillant! Les cocktails aussi sont délicieux et bien maîtrisés!

L'accueil a été assez long, le serveur était plus focus à plier des serviettes que de nous asseoir. Pareil pour le service, food check et suivi, les serveurs placotaient et s'amusaient ensemble à l'entrée plutôt que d'être à l'affût des clients. Changement de serveur entre le service, le premier serveur ne nous as pas saluer avant son switch et la prochaine serveuse ne cest pas présentée non plus On nous a aussi fait sentir qu'on devait quitter bientôt en déplacant les tables autour de nous pour un prochain groupe possiblement. Les sdb etaient salles et manquaient de papier de toilette. Pour une soiree occupée je comprendrais mais à 16h30 un samedi.ordinaire. Sinon l'ambiance est très bien, bel endroit, stylish et classy. Aussi belle selction de vin au verre. Jai mangé une assiette antipasto et je suis celiac et je n'ai eu aucun problème. Le serveur cetait bien assuré de tout avec la cuisine, ce que jai apprécié. Je retournerais en esperant que le service soit plus a la hauteur.

I made a 10am reservation, arrived at 9: 53am, and they still made me and my friends wait an additional 30 minutes. We didn't get seated until after 10: 30am. They eventually offered us a free round of mimosas, but they rarely gave us any updates. At one point, the host came to update us about 15 minutes in and said, "Sorry, it'll only be a few more minutes, we just have too. " and walked away. I thought I didn't hear the last part until me friend said, "did the host really leave without finishing her sentence or giving us an explanation? " The main reason I made a reservation here was for the boozie pops. When I went to place an order for Boozie Pops, the waiter looked at me like I was crazy and said they don't have anymore. The food we were served was good though and the place was very clean. The only person I was really impressed with was the bartender because we kept seeing him running around to help in every aspect when the bar wasn't busy.

Literally walked out of this place about 20 minutes ago. It is a gloomy slow day on a Monday and my experience at Brasserie 701 was the same. My girlfriend and I spent the night in MTL and decided to go to Brasserie 701 for its highly rated reviews.

Service was trash. Order two basic house salads with added chicken. Both plates took 30 minutes to come out, one of them missing core ingredient (the extra chicken). Waiter seemed lost, the other gentlemen who brought the food was equally lost AND to top it off, the manager is the MOST lost. He walked around our table 2-3 times and didnt present himself during this bizarre situation.

To be frank, i believe it was because we were english speaking customers. The service was minimal. When they brought one of the salads back to the kitchen to add chicken, the waiter came to us 5 minutes later to ask about the plate as if he didnt know what was happening. Came to the conclusion that there was only ONE chicken breast left and it was the one on the other salad we ordered. Finally took the salad as is and low and behold the same salad plate from 5 minutes ago is back out on the table.

As someone with a restauration background, the last thing you do is take 30 minutes to make a salad and forget to slap some chicken on it and then tell the customer you have no chicken left.

Food was trash. Ordered a strawberry short cake. Also took a good 15 minutes. My girlfriend said it smelt like a freezer.

Terrible experience. Paid the bill in full and left the minimum tip.

Food is good. (especially the fried chicken.)

One of the bartender was great and had an amaizing energy but the other bartender was really disappointing and didn't know how to make basic drinks.

I love the vibe of this place, always bustling with a trendy crowd but not pretentious. We went for late night drinks and dessert, and everything was pretty good. Will be back again!

Classy and fabulous place for brunch! I prefer their special Holidays brunch with pancakes and chicken waffles because the usual brunch menu is not that great. The crêpes were quite ordinary, I expected a nice thin Crepe Bretonne but what I had was a thick and rough texture.

Nous (2) y sommes allés pour le 5 services de Noël. Le feuilleté de tomates et de fromage a été notre préféré. La portion de foie gras était généreuse et succulente. La purée de pommes de terre était délicieuse et le filet mignon était très tendre. Le gâteau forêt noir a bien terminé le repas.

La musique d'ambiance était festive sans être trop forte. Le service était serviable et rapide en dépit de la journée de Noël.

Nous sommes allé à la brasserie 701 pour un anniversaire et avions la salle privé du fond. La salle était bien. Nous étions plusieurs à prendre 6 escargots à 16$. A ce prix nous nous attendions à un plats d’exception. Et bien non, c était sommes toutes des escargots réguliers dans un sauce à l’ail comme en en trouve partout pour 10$ Max.
Le pavée de saumon était froid à l’interieur.j’ai retourné l’assiete J’ai choisi en remplacement les pétoncles sur un risotto trop salé. Le service était hors pair cependant et le serveur était aimable et souriant.
Je ne retournerai pas dans cet établissement. Le propriétaire devrait faire un effort sur la cuisine.

Went here for our Christmas party for work and truly the best service ever! The waiter knew my name apparently because i was the most talked about during the night which was an interesting insight to know

Got an over-cooked burger which was honestly worse than fast food burgers. Sent the food back and they offered a 10% discount on the price of burger (full burger was sent back) Which I thought was an insult and did not accept.

The restuarant is beautiful and modern. We ordered a platter of fruit and it took 40 minutes to get to the table. We also had fruit with some of our food and these fruits were dry (not fresh). The waitress was unapologetic but the manager fixed the issue right away and didn't charge us for the platter. We got free mimosas too! They did their best to make up for it, which was appreciated.

My eggs Benedict and the handful of potatoes were ok. Perhaps it was an off day. If a friend really wanted to go back, I would tag along.

This place is so romantic but can be great for business or group settings as well. Our servers were perfect and attentive. They provided entertainment while being helpful as well. My salad ad an appetizer with blue cheese was out of this world! For my entree, I had the mushroom toast with egg which was so yummy and the perfect size. I can't wait to visit this place again. Also, if you are early enough you can get metered parking in the nearby lot. Highly recommended for good food, great wines, awesome service and lovely ambiance!

We were very disappointed in the service. My sister in law emailed in advance of our visit to make arrangements for her meal. She has celiac disease and cannot have gluten. (This is not a dietary choice - this is an illness.) The hostess assured her that they could accommodate her. The manager came to speak with her and assured her they would “do their best” to avoid cross contamination. When her meal arrived, the plate contained an item that definitely had been in contact with wheat products. When she mentioned it to the manager, he apologized and offered her 20% off her meal. They didn’t seem to realize this is not a cost issue - this is a health issue. Very disappointing. Not the high end service we had expected.

Très emballé à l'idée d'aller manger dans ce restaurant avec ma copine. Nous avions réservé une table "intimiste" pour un dîner romantique un dimanche soir. Quelle déception d'arriver sur place et de voir qu'une réception occupe plus de la moitié du restaurant.

Nous nous sommes retrouvés serrés au milieu des autres clients qui étaient tous parqués dans un coin du restaurant. Nous étions coincés entre la réception très bruyante et la musique trop forte sortant du haut-parleur au-dessus de nous.

Nous prévenir n'aurait pas été un luxe, surtout après avoir demandé confirmation de notre venue.

Heureusement, on y mange excellemment (même si certains plats sont servis en petite portion) et le service a été très rapide. J'y retournerai bien pour apprécier la beauté du lieu en lui même.

I went with some friends and arrived at around 6: 30PM on a Saturday night. Despite the restaurant being mostly empty, when I had called a couple of days in advance, the only seating time was 7PM so I was a bit surprised that the were a lot of free tables. Fortunately, we were able to sit outside, which was a nice thought but the street noise was pretty high and we had to talk loudly to hear one another. It was a bad start to the night as the two tables were unbalanced and although the waiter mentioned that he had talked to management about the tables, nothing had been done. We ordered appetizers, which came quickly and then the main courses, which did not. It was after 8: 30PM by the time that the main food arrived, by which time the manager was serving us as the waiter had disappeared and never came back to our table. The manager was very nice about comping the main courses (overcooked, or under-cooked depending upon the meal) and giving us a free glass of wine but apart from that, the experience was pretty much a disaster. The manager explained that they had a large group come in after us but that should not have had anything to do with why it took close to two hours to get served. There are so many restaurants in Montreal that there are definitely a lot better options.

The atmosphere was great and the servers were kind and attentive but the food was not worth the price paid. There is little selection, the portions were small, and the overall flavors were mediocre. I got a 2 egg plate and they got my order wrong the first time they brought it and when they returned with my meal they were missing part of what the menu said it came with. We were a table of 6 and three of us got a plate with the order wrong/missing food. One woman at my table had to wait 20 minutes for her plate to arrive after it was brought to her wrong and when she finally got it, it was missing items that too another 5 minutes to bring to her. The bartender did give us a free breakfast shot each that was delicious and that was very kind but it definitely did not make up for our experience there.

Went here for eggs Benedict.

Food is good but server dropped my strawberries on the table and acted like nothing happened. (They were not replaced as well)
