Café de' Mercanti

Stopped in while shopping on Monkland for a hot chocolate and baked cookie snack. The hot chocolate was very good and one of the better ones I had.but the Chocolate Coffee Cookie was ok (not bad but lacking in the posed coffee flavoring). There is a nice quiet seating area with a nice large window facing Monkland. Enjoy!

Mercanti in Monkland Village is a treasure, known for its excellent coffee and cozy atmosphere. It's a community hub, welcoming all and fostering great conversations. Everyone is greeted with fresh coffee aroma and friendly staff. Besides top-notch coffee, Mercanti also offers delicious food options. The community spirit it fosters is what truly sets it apart. My hope is for Mercanti to remain a slice of joy in Monkland Village, a place that feels like home

First time in this place.
We were a group of friends.
Two took cappuccino and it was excellent. Another person took espresso and it was great too, and I took americano and it was awful. They do an espresso and simply add water (many places add filter coffee instead or give an option of one or the other). It was too much water to me. I asked to add another shot of espresso. I was told that they will do the shot of espresso for 1$. I have never seen that before. What kind of service is that. Each coffee was around 4$ plus tax and tip. I wasn't asked if I want a receipt or not. I must have paid around 25$ for the 4 coffees.and they weren't willing to satisfy my taste.wow cheap

Great place and practically the nicest cafe of the neighbourhood but I couldn’t get a decent Americano here since last year. It basically tastes like hot water.

My wife and I discovered this amazing coffee shop while strolling along Monkland Avenue. The staff is super friendly and the coffees and cookies are delicious. There was a steady stream of customers coming and going and everyone seemed happy to be there. I highly recommend this business.

This is my favourite coffee shop! Not only is the coffee superb, the owners and staff are amazing people. The food and goodies are great as well. We always feel welcome and valued as customers. Truly an excellent family business. A must visit for all Monkland Ave visitors and residents.

The best coffee and the people are amazing! They recognize their regulars, know what they'd like, are super patient with kids and seem to really like what they do.

Super nice shop, which I'm assuming by the name that they operate in the Italian espresso tradition. No wifi which I kind of like for a change. And they were SO nice behind the counter! I totally spilled my espresso on their nice floor and wall and they cleaned it and gave me a fresh one. That is service!

Been going here for ten years, best coffee in the city. And get the Nutella cookie, omg! I don't even like Nutella, but I save up calories to eat those damn things, haha.

Probably the best and most consistent espresso in NDG. They typically use darker roasted coffee compared to Melk or Élémentaire who emphasize lighter roasts. Staff are friendly and the biscotti is good.

Very high quality coffee, superbe customer service, family-like atmosphère. Been the go to spot for me and my girlfriend for takeout once a week during the pandemic and that spot always provides a warm feeling we take home. It’s worth the detour even if you’re not from the area!

The coffee is GREAT, the staff are super friendly and nice, but the cookie was awful! Lol: D no matter hoooow delicious they look! I tried the shortbread with blueberry jam topping and it was terrible.and I have one of the sweetest tooth!

Thank you for the delicious pastries, our client in Quebec enjoyed them very much! We ordered the mini cannoli, amaretti almond & cream filled vanilla donuts The cannoli we're still fresh & crispy after 4 hours! I also love your coffee & lattes

This was my first Café de' Mercanti experience and now I know fully why my friend ordered the double latte! I ordered a latte and received a rather pale milked down version. But that's not the kicker! How about a couple of coconut- chocolate variety cookies to go with that. You can't beat a good coffee with a "GREAT" cookie, right! Sticker - Price shock, $7.00 for two cookies, really! OH, I forgot the added value, the waitress told us that they were gluten free.well at least something was free! Nice people, courteous service, well I guess at those ridiculous prices they have to be nice. Will continue to look forward to my weekend dose of single - strong latte and most delicious almond croissant on Dante street!

Very nice staff and great cofee. The ice cream is also fantastic when they have it in the summer.

Nice little cafe to sit and enjoy a treat and a coffee. The atmosphere is relaxed with airy indoor seating and benches outside during the summer. The almond cookie was especially tasty. A simple pleasure!

New to NDG. Love the coffee and most of the staff. Sad to see that they don't recycle, they mix the paper and plastic cups and lids in with the garbage. Quite obvious on garbage and recycling day at the street level. They do recycle coffee grinds though. I would have given them a 4 or 5 if they chose to look after the planet a bit better.

Great coffee. And if that’s not enough, it has a nice evocative decor and the social atmosphere matches it. Nice days make the outside feel like a latter day old country with benches and people hanging out next to Vespas.

One of the best coffee in Montreal. We keep coming back every chance we get. The various bakery on offer are also a delicious treat to try. It's our favourite coffee spot in NDG and well worth it.

It's a great Cafe it has expanded over the years they have a nice outdoor patio, and then make a really good Italian coffee just like you get in Italy I highly recommend this Cafe

This place is great! They are really friendly and I love their chocolat chaud, it's super thick.

Very nice coffee shop with extremely delicious coffee and amazingly yummy treats and sandwiches. We tried this almond and chocolate flakes and it was so good.

One of the best cafés in NDG. They also have a good selection of deserts. During the summer, they do have a nice terrace, but inside seating is very limited.

The coffee and biscotti here are excellent. The staff can be pretty cold though. I’m willing to put up with that because of the excellent coffee.
