Café Nocturne

The coffee is delicious and the service is fast and pleasant. I recommend their scones as well!
Coffee shop tends to be packed with students on their laptops so maybe not the greatest spot to go catch up with a friend. But great to grab and go! (Or study if you're a student ;) )

Les viennoiseries/breuvages sont incroyables et l’employée qui nous a servi était absolument charmante! Nous avons travaillé 3 h là et nous y retournerons, c’est assuré!

Just excellent Americano and lovely staff/atmosphere. You can see the coffee swirl on top and you know you don't have a franchise, watered down, burnt drink.

Best coffee in Montreal. Willing to fight about it. Michael is a great guy who makes incredible coffee. This dude has some serious talent and has become my good friend. I love you, Michael.

I was on vacation in the city and was so happy to find this place! As someone who appreciates great coffee it was so amazing to find a place like cafe nocturne.both of the beans they had on espresso were great, solid coffee!

Toujours très achalandé. Je prends des cafés pour emporter, mais c'est pas forcément une bonne idée de planifier aller travailler/étudier dans ce café.

I never give 5 stars. But honestly this is THE BEST almond chai latte I think I’ve ever had in life. It’s that good. Don’t need to add anything to it. They do the coffee right here too. Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Fresh baked biscuits and croissants, friendly staff and chill vibe make this the perfect spot on a chilly weekend morning. I almost don’t want the secret to be out because then you’ll take my window seats where I people-watch lol. Keep it up team!

Place has really gone downhill over the last few weeks. Coffee is somehow burnt and sour at the same time, quality feels just cheap? Really not the same place as the one I started going to, no idea what happened

This cafe is a favorite for sure! I’ve been twice and will definitely be back. The reviews praising their mocha are not exaggerating—sincerely one of the best mochas I’ve ever had. It was creamy, smooth, sweet but not too sweet. So good!
The vibe is great, even though it’s small and been pretty crowded both times I’ve been there. It’s part of what makes the vibe great! It’s not uncommon to see people working on laptops, but it still feels cozy and communal.

Nocturne is a cozy spot, with good music, stellar vibes, and ambiance perfect for anything from studying to a first date to a relaxing Sunday morning. This combined with the good coffee, scones, and great baristas makes Nocturne one of my favourite cafes in the city.

They have the funniest stickers all over the place.

Since arriving in Montreal 5 months ago, I've come to find Nocturne as the place I socialize, study, and relax. I worked in coffee for over 5 years back in the US and can say with confidence this place holds up against some of the top shops back on the East Coast. A well-curated bean selection, excellent baked goods, and incredibly knowledgeable baristas are some of the many reasons I keep coming back.

Stumbled in by accident but took a chance. The Colombian cortado prepared by Mike was excellent and the chocolate scone was even better than it looked! You can’t go wrong here.

Excellent coffee and pastry, service is the best. The petite patio in back is green and peaceful, a perfect place to enjoy a cup.

André and Michael are such fun owners and a great tag team! Michael's delicious coffee and knowledge of the bean paired with André's knack for delivering the tastiest scones, biscuits and other treats is such a delight to be around. Great spot to study or hang out for a chat, favourite shop!

Used to be a great place for a coffee but the vibe has really changed and it's not because of covid. It's just not good anymore. What changed? Staff are way more abrupt and the quality of everything has gone down.

Very good coffee and friendly staff! The barista told us how the varieties of grains they have are chosen to create different combinations of tastes for different types of drinks. Cozy atmosphere and comforting music greatly add to the experience. They have some food. Croissants are really tasty and cookies are nice. I heard something about sandwiches but never saw them in person) I guess to get them you have to get here really early because the place is quite popular)

Highly recommended. Very cozy atmosphere with alot of street life. Grab a cold brew and head down st-laurent on a nice summer day in Montreal.

Great coffee, great service, great ambiance. Nocturne is my favorite coffee shop! It is the perfect spot to work in as a student, the music is not too loud and the snacks are delicious (perfect for a little power boost between two assignments)! Considering covid restrictions at the moment, despite my love for the setting, the coffee itself is still worth getting one to-go!

Certainement un des meilleurs lattes du quartier. À part le délicieux café, le lieu est sobre, sombre mais chaleureux comme une nuit d'été.

There's a reason this place is so popular. Very hipster, from its rustic interior decor to its rich espresso shots (but their lattes are objectively the best option on the drinks menu). There tend to be many people from the plateau area doing work on their small tables and uncomfortable stools, but I would not call this a "study space" for the average student.

It can also sometimes be hard to find space for two people to sit next to or across from each other, so depending on the time of day, you might want to opt for somewhere else to find a place to sit down and chat.

The big concern they allow dogs in the store knowing it is completely forbidden by the law I am surprised the food and safety inspectors never came yet

Nice study café with a terasse! It can be a bit noisy and you won't have a lot of table space because you basically share a long table with other people.

Nice little coffee place tucked in the corner of the street. I enjoyed everything - flavour of the coffee, service, and the atmosphere. I didn’t like that all the sitting space was taken up by students. That’s why I’m giving 4 stars out of 5.

Friendliest staff in the city! They have all the alternative milks you could hope for. Perfect for instagram worthy coffee and also have a cool instagram themselves.

The most perfect cafe in the world! If I’m ever having a bad day, all I have to do is step into Nocturne and say hello to Thomas (and enjoy an impeccable latte while I’m at it) and suddenly the world seems cozy and bright.

All coffee beverages they make are great, although the pastries could be better. The baristas are really nice, the decor is quite cool and you'll see a mix of students and plateau residents.

Endroit lumineux, avec une petite terrasse en arrière. Les grandes tables de la pièce principale sont majoritairement occupées par des personnes qui travaillent sur leurs ordis, c'est donc plutôt calme avec une bonne musique d'ambiance.

One of the best lattes around, especially their chai latte! I wish there were more food options, and power outlets for studying, but it's still one of my top cafes in the city.

Café excellent à prix imbattable compte tenu de la qualité (espresso à 3$, cappucino à 4$ et mocha à 5$.), service rapide (ce qui vide rapidement les files d'attente) et quelques grignotines épatantes. Par contre, difficile de trouver une place assise. Et je crains ne jamais pouvoir me faire au nom de l'établissement. Il m'apparaît absurde de s'appeller Le Café Nocturne alors qu'on ferme à 19h00 et qu'on ré-ouvre si tard le matin (7: 30 am). Quelques ampoules électriques jaunies suspendues au plafond et une petite tête de hibou sur un mur ne font pas un concept. Enfin bref, je recommande tout de même.

This is a great little cafe. Lots of coffee options. Really amazing location. A good vibe. And nice staff. There's also a little backyard that you can sit in if you'd like fresh air but some times you should ask for it. It's not too obvious! If you're around, check it out.
