Café Parvis

I really liked the atmosphere, but the waiteress brought the bill very soon without us asking, and I felt like she was trying to indirectly ask us to leave!

One of our favourite Montéal restaurants!

The first time we visited Café Parvis, it was by a happy and lucky coincidence. We were seated at the counter and the waiting staff was extremely kind and helpful - they recommended us a few things, and let me tell you: this place served the best beef tartare we've had so far!

The chocolate cake is great, and they have a brunch menu for weekends with great breakfast/brunch pizza's.

The interior is also something worth noting, with lots of green hanging plants. This makes for a great brunch spot, or chill lunch!

To the restaurant: please bring back the beef tartare on the menu; my partner is screaming "MAH TARTAR" every time I ask her what she is craving (she won't share.)

I was looking for a local place to have a coffee and a small breakfast on my way to the Vieux Port when I stumbled upon this restaurant. It had "café" in its name so it was safe to assume they would serve coffee. The host was very nice and sat me at the bar. The ambience of the place was quite pleasant, with the plants and the peeling paint on the walls. It's when the server who was working at the bar came to greet me that the whole experience went downhill. She asked me if I wanted anything to drink and I politely asked for a coffee. She looked at me like what I asked didn't make any sense, or like I came from another planet, and asked me what kind of coffee. I told her I wanted a normal cup of coffee as I was here for breakfast. Then she pretended not to understand what a normal cup of coffee is and started to list the types of specialty coffees available: americano, latte, capucino, etc. I tried to explain that all I was looking for was a regular coffee and that's when she got very pretentious and proceeded to let me know that they didn't have drip coffee in this fine establishment. The subtext was that if I wanted a normal coffee I should go to Tim Hortons with the rest of the riff raff. I decided to go with an americano as this would be the closest to a normal coffee and asked for cream and sugar. Again, the pretentious/superior/blasé look: there's no cream in this fine establishment, how dare I ask! Not only do the refined clientèle of this select establishment drink only specialty coffees, they do not drink cream. So I asked for milk. In all honesty, the americano was good, and the eggplant sandwich made a good breakfast (they didn't serve breakfast, which is probably considered uncool, just like drip coffee or cream). So my 1-star rating is really based on the haughty/condescending service, not the food. The worst in that whole experience is that I'm a coffee lover and really enjoy ordering capucinos or lattes in restaurants. But this morning, I felt like a normal cup of coffee and I don't think there's anything wrong or demeaning about this. The server knew exactly what I was looking for, but pretending not to understand and then judging me negatively for my poor/uncool tastes in coffee somewhat made her feel superior.

Chaleureux, nourriture EXCELLENTE, on n'a pas pris beaucoup de café mais le peut qu'on ai gouté était bon. La playlist de musique est de grande qualité aussi. Couldn't recommend enough.

Nourriture toujours monstrueuse avec un nouveau menu! Highly recommend.

Their pizza are not ordinary, it's like a combo of salad and pizza! We had the crazy mushroom and Cresson, tomate, avocat, crème sure aux oignons verts, feta, vinaigrette au jalapeño. Very cozy and green with a lot of plants indoor decor. Their tropical non-alcohol cocktail was excellent!

J’ai eu l’opportunité de faire cette découverte grâce à ma fille. L’ambiance est vraiment extraordinaire, c’est relaxe et en même temps ça bourdonne. C’est magique.

L’accueil rapide et accueillant, malgré que nous n’avions pas de réservation. Nous avons eu l’opportunité d’être assis à la terrasse qui est vraiment comment dire « cute » les bancs pour s’asseoir originaux mais très peu confortable.

Nous avons été servis rapidement, malheureusement je ne me souviens pas de son nom. Cocktails pour ma fille, une ginger beer pour son conjoint et moi une sangria à la pêche, vous ne serez pas déçu.

Nous avons chacun pris une pizza, Marguerite blanche, Cresson, tomates…, Bœuf grillé… les prix $21, $22, $23. Portions généreuse, mais le goût oh my my, tout était succulent, excellent.

Nous n’avons en aucun temps eu l’impression que l’on devait quitter.

Je vous suggère cet endroit, j’y retournerai sans fautes!

What an unfortunate and unwelcoming place. Poor recommendation from our hotel concierge. No smiles, no welcome, no effort. The pizza could not be customized as all are pre-made. I didn’t stay to taste the food but no matter how good it might have been, the place would have given me indigestion. Something wrong with the staff.

Great service and vibes. Food is good, but not the main reason to come. Frequent last minute availability.

Nice and cozy cafe. The place is very calm. A wide variety of Alcoholic drinks. Coffee and hot chocolate. Good menu for salad and pizza.

Au menu, on retrouve des 5 ou 6 petites pizzas et autant de salades. Il n'y a pas 1000 choix mais c'est parce qu'ils ne présentent que des plats qui sont réussis. Je vous suggère d'arriver vers 11: 45 si vous allez luncher sinon vous risquez d'attendre en file.

Six of us went for coffee and desert at around 9pm and it was wonderful! Everything made in-house. Service was lovely and accommodating and a great energy inside. Thank you!

The white bean and chorizo soup was flavorful. The apple turnover was flaky with the perfect sweetness.

One of the best pizzas I've ever had and I've been to Italy a few times. Service was fast and courteous.

The only problem was that I was alone and I wanted a table for myself. I didn't want to be on the bar or share because I was in Montreal for a funeral and I wanted my space. I certainly couldn't share that with the staff. I know it's difficult for them to give a single person a table but would have been great if they had understood that I had insisted twice on being in a corner by myself. They made me sit on a couch which then I had to share with someone.

Except for the seating part everything else was great and I would definitely go again.

The food tasted great and the ambiance is nice. My complaints are the service and the food portions. My family came on a Tuesday around 2pm for lunch, there weren’t that many people which seems fair for the time. We ordered 3 pizzas and a salad for 2. The pizzas costed around $9 each, we knew they were going to be small, but when it came we were still stunned. They were like 1.5x the size of one cube from a party pizza you would get elsewhere, had we felt really hungry or not ordered the salad we would have left hungry. The salad was great, it was for two but we split it between the 3 of us. The size seems decent for $16. The servers were either really inattentive or they were trying hard to ignore us, when we were ready to order and when we were asking for the bill, we had to beckon at least 6/7 times before someone came hesitantly. One time a girl caught my eye but chose to walk right pass me. I don’t want to mention discrimination but we were the only Asian people in the restaurant, and it seems the other Caucasian customers got quick service. I initially wanted to give 20% tip for the good food, but since the servers were so nonchalant I only gave 18% at the end.

Parfait pour un bon dîner au centre-ville, car le service est généralement assez rapide. Le menu midi est restreint mais tout est excellent! Un peu dispendieux. Mais j'y retourne encore et encore:)

I did not try the food. The coffee was pretty good, but the desert was only OK. The ambiance and service was nice. The staff went out of their way to accommodate my friend who had a wheelchair.

Went for brunch two weekends in a row: varied menu and our whole party was impressed with their dishes - the breakfast pizza was excellent. The cap ordered at the end was also well done. Definitely going back.

Friendly wise, very cozy, beautiful environment and cute breakfast. Their chai latte was really good, but the expresso was not to my bf's taste (it was too fruity, not his favorite) but besides that, everything was pretty good! Food, price, place, staff

Amazing food. The food ward so good that we sent back for a second meal in the same day. Fresh and clean.

Love this place. Just as much for breakfast as for lunch or just a coffee. The place is super cozy with lots of plants hanging down, making the place feel inviting. My friend put me onto the flat white and now that’s all I ever order when I go. No sugar needed:)

We came here because of the nice reviews on the internet only to find out it's one of the places to AVOID in Montreal. When we arrived the waitress looked at us up and down and placed us in a common table without asking if we were comfortable with it. Another member of the staff kept on giving the three of us death glares literally to the point that we felt very uncomfortable and we all agreed that we had to leave. We went to the bar next door: Bar Furco and what a big mistake! Both businesses belong to the same owner. We ordered food and drinks, it came unusually quickly which is an indication that it must be frozen food. It tasted APPALLING. The waiter appointed to our table served us wine and spilled it literally on the table and on us. As a trained waiter in a bar, how can you make such a beginner mistake? Everything was ridiculous from start to finish (attitude, food and atmosphere). After we paid, we complained about the whole situation to the manager and nothing was said to apologise nor was offered to compensate. What a shame!

Made a reservation 2 weeks in advance for four people and, on arrival, was offered perhaps the worst table in the restaurant - in a back room with no windows. I can understand if we just showed up but we had reserved well in advance. No effort was made to find a better table so we left and enjoyed dinner elsewhere.
